#Transferring OS from SATA SSD to NVMe

Generally people here say you shouldn’t copy/clone a windows install. While it can work perfectly fine, it’s also prone to issues & weird bugs.
Best approach is to install fresh & copy whatever documents/pictures/games you want, then re-install all the programs again. Trust me, its more worth your time
Pro tip- unplug the SATA drive when installing windows on the nvme
There’s a long-standing windows bug that can cause fuckery if another drive is present during installation
download macrium reflect and clone it using either the software in windows or by usb recovery creation
if the hardware is the same cloning is perfectly fine as long as the OS is good
install fresh in reference to Windows?
Yes
ah so the whole media creation tool process with the USB and all that right?
Yeah, stick around here long enough and you’ll see too many people get their windows fucked up by cloning tools, reputable or not
my question is if i do that, would i end up having the activate windows watermark again?
no, if you link your current boot to your windows account (which you probably already did) you can transfer that activation to another drive
oh right!! my bad
when installing, say you don’t have a key, then once done, go to Activation in the settings and tell it you’re transferring
