#mac browser problem
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i must mention this is only in the browser
its not just one browser either
stuff like discord and spotify stay logged in but browser doesnt
Maybe some privacy settings? Not to familiar with macos...
i just got the mac yesterday so
Huh... Was it second hand or new? If it was new you better ask apple support... If second hand I would try resetting it
i did update it to the latest mac os
and it works fine on bootcamp windows
no signing out problems
2nd hand but it was used by a company so its not like they would sell it with a problem
i just need someone who knows stuff about macs
I used to own macs... but switched to linux a long while ago. I would try completely reinstalling the OS just to be safe.
There are really usefull tutorials online on how to do it
which browser, or multiple browsers that have the same issue?
safari and opera
just like it kinda resets but bookmarks stay
like the cookies reset or something
not really familiar with mac os yet soo
in the settings does it block cookies?
ok then that's not it
had that happen to me on a chrome install ๐
could still be blocking cookies though, somewhere under privacy maybe
If the problem persists on multiple browsers and you haven't changed them individually it has to be the OS. The company you bought it 2nd hand from might have changed theses settings to comply with their privacy-policies
on chrome here, I have the option: Block all Cookies (not recommended) I'd check for something like that
alright
it was already like that
did read something about the cross-site tracking maybe causing issues
maybe turn it off and try again?
could always turn it back on if it doesn't help
ohh dang
shouldn't do if you have the dedicated app
i have the app and it doesnt log me out
discord is running on some sort of chromium stuff. Not entirely sure how it works. Have you tried other browsers? (Firefox, Chrome, Brave)
Something likes this? https://www.tomsguide.com/how-to/how-to-clear-the-cache-on-mac
It really is... I am not sure what else you could try. I would just reinstall the OS. It takes about 30 minutes. The Problem should be resolved after that.
Maybe the Sys-Admins from the company you bought it from have changed settings that are not being reset by just resetting the device. Reinstalling would be completely deleting the current OS and installing it new from scratch. Thankfully on mac it is really easy.
they will of completely wiped it
just written 0s to the disk until no data is recoverable
then reinstalled it with a regular instal
i joined an apple discord server to see if there is anyone in there who can help
They should have
ill keep this open just incase anyone sees it and would know
๐ good luck
