#changes i make in my pc such as updating a game or a driver reverts itself after i reboot my pc, any
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
No, its my personal pc , can i change this automatic restore in any way?
no clue ๐คทโโ๏ธ what you changed to make this happen
Nothing, just had a valorant update so pressed update ofc and restarted pc after and seen it was still there after i logged back on
so its just valorant?
also how much drive space left?
if you do not have enough drive space it might not be able to install.
No, any change i make e.g geforce update, changing refresh rate etc. I have enough disk space.
What programs you have on the pc that might trigger this behaviour ?
This is not normal
Nothing out of the ordinary, couple games, discord, spotify etc.. all the usual stuff
Great so its just usual
Will mark as resolved since its usual and we do not need to go through that list, since its usual.
But its not resolved?
but I do not get information? ๐ฎ
so I cannot resolve it
so its resolved ๐
Yes, call me childish but I do 20 of these a day volentary.
I've answered all your questions the best I can, if you dont want to help me then please remove the reaction to the post and let someone else handle it.
Great, what applications are you running when this is happening?
what is on the background?
You have to check them ALL
because you have no idea ๐ .
want me to list all 50 background processes that are currently running?
just screenshot the running programs
Windows Shift S and select that portion of the screen
Ctrl + C -> and Ctrl + V , Yeets it in here.
dont want you to do labor ๐คทโโ๏ธ just simple copy paste suffices
Background process, apps or windows processes? 3 sections in task manager
yeah was going to do that anyway, just confirrming which ones you want me to send in
I would just straight up remove all razer crap of the pc
what a mouso core worker process?
Game manager service?
o.0 so much bloatware on there
open up msconfig -> Services -> click on "Hide all microsoft services" and remove all you dont need, and remove all things Razer for now.
"It controls which updates must be installed first and which can be installed later." according to google
something to do with Razer
I done this and removed the razer stuff and anything else i dont need, it required a pc restart and after i restarted its all checked the boxes again
nearly everything that could potentially help me requires a pc restart, and once i do restart it resets back to before, its like im stuck in the past or something
Yeah i remove them, and after i restart they come back again
After i press apply it pops up a screen either restart now or later
Thanks
could it may be corruption in my SSD @elder skiff ? Just now i tried opening Nvidia control panel which is saved in the same SSD as windows and i got the error message "The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format."
Just scanned the drive in properties > tools > Error checking, and it found an issue , asks me to repair and restart so i did and the issue is well.. obviously still here after the restart
Yes offcourse it could be ๐คทโโ๏ธ
i tried unplugging it earlier and booting windows on a USB but it would just give me a black screen with a blinking white line (like in image)
constant loop of issues it seems
rip bro ๐๐
you having fun bud
yes actually ๐
๐
Might need a new ssd ๐ค
ive got another one here.
but how can i install windows on it if it gives me this screen when trying to boot up with creation tool on usb
yeah
No do a file backup and fresh install
bro took me seriously ๐ญ
Cant perform a fresh install if it requires me to restart the pc at the end
Which will just reset the progress of the install
Buy a new ssd and install windows on that
see if that works
I have a new ssd, cant install windows as booting the media creation tool on a usb doesnt work
Do you have a 2nd computer, laptop, etc?
laptop yea
Try using the tool on that to make the boot usb
the boot usb is made, i made it on the laptop
Oh ok
it just gives me this screen when i try to boot on it, or if i choose UEFI USB in boot override in bios it just makes my screen go black for 1 second then back to the bios
Try updating the bios on your motherboard. Find the motherboard manufacturers webpage and download the latest bios.
Then put it on a usb and plug it into your desktop and update the bios
Maybe that will fix the windows install issue
As a temporary thing, disable secureboot and see if you can uefi boot then
if it does boot, you just need to clear keys or make exception for efi file with it enabled
i'll update the bios first like what @upper dirge was saying, if im still stuck then ill try this
What motherboard do you have?
Just curious
B450M DS3H
Whatโs the manufacturer
gigabyte
๐
Bios update done, required a reboot and after the reboot its still on the new update
So thats good news
Ill go into windows and check if i can update / check if changes will save now
Yeah thatโs good. Iโd be very surprised if it reverted a bios update. I was assuming the update issue was only windows related
You never know, would be typical for it to happen to me ๐
still the same error codes.
Now try reinstalling windows to that new ssd
From google or USB
Usb
Will it automatically over write the windows i have on my other ssd
Or do you recommend i unplug the ssd with windows on it
Got a blue screen error half way through making the usb lol
Ooof
Same thing, uefi wont work and normal usb is blinking white line
Ill try disable secureboot
Disabling secureboot doesnt make a difference @lyric shuttle
Health status is Good on all 3 of my drives
screenshots?
yeah well, just straight up reinstall windows ๐ค
if after this long , you are still struggling with this issue.
@vestal scaffold
i literally cant lol.
whenever it forces to restart pc at the end
it just disappears
the reinstall progress.
yea
Well remove this SSD.
Its literally garbage
maybe you can get some data off it, but I would not trust it.
i dont have anything major on it
windows and Riot games i think is all there is on it
ah ok , just remove it from the PC (physically) and insert the new SSD in there.
but i cant install windows on the new SSD as i cant boot up with USB
wait you made the USB on this pc?
although i could boot up with windows 8.1 media creation tool earlier on today
tried both this pc and laptop
use the laptop to make the windows 10 creation media tool
ill try again
@elder skiff u here
Custom install or upgrade
Im on windows setup menu
well custom install
Installing now, ill let u know how it goes
Fingers crossed it should save after the restart considering the other ssd is SOLIDIFIED
yeah its not really the term, but after a certain amount of writes it just sticks in that way
๐คทโโ๏ธ its how some SSD may, be
Had that happen to an old evo 860 of mine.
Lasted me long enough, i had it for a while
Pc is restarting now
Yeah setting up windows now, looks all good it didnt go back in time @elder skiff
๐๐
Yeah id say it is for now, ill confirm it when im done the setup so that the thread can be closed
Changed my refresh rate in nvidia control panel and restarted my pc to test if the changes were still reverting and theyre not, the refresh rate stayed the same!
@upper dirge @lyric shuttle @elder skiff thanks guys for the help
This is resolved.
