#RTX 3080 Performance Issues
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
and this is the 3080
Setup:
R7 3800x
32 gb ram 3200mhz 4x8gb ram
2 tb samsung 980 pro
rtx 3080 / rtx 3060 ti
What resolution are you playing at?
See how the GPU usage is super low for both? That's because it's not being pushed very hard. There's something else in the system that's holding it back
In other words, something else, probably the CPU, is bottlenecking the GPU
If you're in 1080p, this is expected
probably
your CPU might be causing a bottleneck
like
it doesnt let your gpu use its full potential
Low-poly games like valorant will likely never see the GPU at full potential, unless at higher resolutions and graphics settings
3800X is a good CPU but it's not gonna keep up with how many frames the GPU is pumping out
If you put the per-core CPU usage on that overlay, I bet cash money a few of the cores are pinned at 100%
ik this isnt related, but would a i5 10400f bottleneck a rx 6600 xt?
That is a loaded question
- There will always be a bottleneck of some kind. Otherwise it'd be a computer with unlimited power
- Depends on the game, resolution, and graphics settings
Yeah probably
k, ty
1080p
so the next step is get a 5800x3d ?
Have you tried to update the GPU drivers?
games like Valorant and CSGO are cpu bound games
unless 200+ fps isnt enough for you, new CPU it is
or try to overclock
I have saved up some money and I think I ll be getting a new gpu now
…. it’s over 200 FPS, that’s plenty. Getting a better CPU would be such a minimal change to your game
@grizzled geyser
Do you only have this problem at valorant?
Try something like cod warzone
I just play valorant and cp2077 or a bit vr
And you only see this problem at valorant?
I only play those games as said and in cp2077 I get like avg 60 everything high with out dlss or any amd thing
1080p
sry I rly dont get what you mean
Games like valorant and cs are definitely CPU bound. If you are wanting the most frames id recommend going with a newer gen processor.
Beat me to it lol
no, you already witness the difference yourself
and youre gonna buy a new gpu? again?
cpu*
to be precise Im thinking bout the 5800x3d
u think the 5800x3d would be enough ?
If you can, go AM5 with 7600 or 7700 would be enough for 3080
If you dont want to change the motherboard, instead going with X3D, would just to R7 non x3D or 5900

After a flood of CPU launches, le...
according to him the 5800x3d is the best cpu in am4 series for gaming
and can hold up with the never cpus in terms of gaming
I really don’t think you need to you need to upgrade your CPU anytime soon
Like yes technically you’ll get higher FPS but the cost-benefit ratio isn’t quite there
Especially imo if you’re already saturating your refresh rate
Im using a 240 hz asus monitor and its just sad I cant run my games that fast
Can you send a photo of what appeared?
I think wrong thread
Oh
But If u go am5 u can keep the mobo for when u want to upgrade ur cpu further down the line
you mean am4 ?
No I mean am5
oh yeah but that means ram mobo
Do u live in the USA?
EU
but I m not really doing cpu bound stuff other than gaming anyway
and if the 5800x3d can hold up in gaming I ll go for it
Before buying that cpu see if u can find any cpu, mobo, ram bundles
I would suggest microcenter for that, but it’s a US thing
I hear Newegg had a 13700k,a mobo,and ddr5 ram for 600 usd
Depends on which motherboard and ram imo
