Why am I having so much trouble getting my Canon Laser printer (Image Class mf232w B&W only) to install? I'm trying to install it on my new computer I bought from an Ebay seller - it's a Dell OptiPlex 7040 i7 with a brand new 512GB SSD only and running Windows 10 Pro. I've downloaded what are said by Canon to be the latest software and driver packages, but my printer and computer don't seem to be communicating... at all! I know the USB port is good because I've tested it. When I had my older, HP i3 : it worked almost as easy as plug and play. Any help would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks in advance! I did misplace the original driver CDs in our move, and I'm hating myself daily for not safeguarding them better Has anyone experienced anything like this, and what was your solution if so?

Sometimes restarting the printer and pc does some wonders for this . Other as that might be the wrong drivers
Try plugging your Printer in a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 slot
depending on what exactly you have it plugged into rn
there are some devices that cant handle usb 3
its supposed to be backwards compatible
but it not always is
@void ice Thank you! That makes actually a lot of sense about the 2.0 and the 3.0... I'm going to try and make sure I go with the 2.0
keep me posted if it works
Man - so get this: I WAS plugged into a 3.0, but now I'm in a 2.0 and it's not triggering anything in windows when I restart the printer
