So i had 2 sticks of ram and wanted to add 2 more, so the PC looks nicer. I bought the SAME ram like i had. TridentZ 4000mhz cl18-22-22. Same exact. First i had problems to put them all in. Because the space between them was not enough. Didnt have that issue before on corsair RAM sticks.

My Pc first rebooted like 2-3 times. And was fine at first. Started APEX played one game and then it just closed. Opened the game again and it closed again. Rebooted the PC and started the game, and now i got the blue screen. Took the Ram out and had no issues whatsoever after that. Any ideas? XMP was on and the MHz were on 4000. So all good. also all 4 sticks were working and showing in task manager.

Motherboard is the Aorus B550 Elite. CPU ryzen 5600x. GPU is the 3080.

Some motherboards can't handle 4 sticks of high speed RAM, even though everything appears as though it should. For example, I have an X570 motherboard with four sticks of 3600MHz ram, but can only either run four with XMP off or three with XMP on. All four sticks work fine on their own, and all slots work fine.

There are a few things you can do:

  • Disable XMP and see if they work. You'll lose the high speed but will learn whether its the speed your mobo can't handle. After that, you could tune the speeds to be slightly lower than 4ghz
  • Isolate whether there's a specific ram stick or slot that's problematic. This is VERY time consuming. It'll involve switching out the ram one stick at a time, one slot at a time. Once it stops crashing with a certain one removed, replace another stick with that removed one to see if it was the slot or stick. A fun little matrix of combinations
  • Boot & run MemTest to ensure the ram isn't faulty. May need to do this multiple times if you change the ram config.
