The motherboard is a Asus PRIME B550-PLUS and looking at the led's near the 24 pin, only the DRAM light is on? What does that mean? what should she do next to try to fix it?

Get them to reseat their ram first and when they can do this.

reseat the ram as it's not sat in fully, she should hear/feel 2 clicks when pushing the ram in, if only 1 click is ever felt/heard then it's not sat in properly

She did try to reseat the ram, we tried one stick at a time, and even one stick in each slot.
the Display is plugged into the GPU with HDMI.

ram should be slots 1+3 or 2+4 unless it's a Matx/itx build

What cpu was used? If it has iGPU then check if connecting display to motherboard will work, if yes then well, it narrows some things down

It is a 5600x so no iGPU

no, because it will detect a CPU it's just that the Bios does not support it

it's not just for not detecting the cpu being there

and this isn't a cpu issue, it's either dram or gpu

as sometimes the gpu can cause the dram light to trigger

he needs to try to update the Bios as I had a very similar problem with a customers computer

but he can't do that when it's the ram to be the likely issue

simply put, try kit in slots 1+3, and then 2+4, if no change in the qled for dram, try a single stick in slot 1, if no display and no change on the dram qled, they need to get a different kit of ram

on my b450 plus you don't get qled, but it doesn't display with ram just in slots 2+4, you had to have them in 1+3 first

and i've seen way to many cases on here where the issue has been the results of it being corsair vengeance ram, quite a few of them with it not hitting it's advertised speeds in which the owner has had to reduce the xmp speed after xmp has been enabled by 400-800 mhz

slots 2+4 can havbe memory training done on them for alot of mobo's so you can manually overclock the ram but that's an altogether separate matter

but without another different kit, and i mean same specs but different brand to test with, you won't fully know if it's the kit they're using or not is the issue

Just built a pc had the same problem with the d ram light had to update bios and the light turned off

And display worked
