ok? continue with the prompt
I tried the automatic repair thingy it didn't work
I've tried looking on Google and nothing worked on there too
what is the context to this?
Open system restore
I used reset this pc on windows
There is no restore points I didn't think a windows feature would break my windows
It's off
Mac, use time machine. Linux, use timeshift. Windows, use system restore
I will turn it on when I fix my pc then
11
I dont have a win11 vm setup but let me get that setup real quick. (I am using linux btw)
Ok
With this Windows install, is it installed by you or by your OEM?
I used reset this pc and this happened idk reset this pc reinstalls windows
Reset all apps or reset everything?
So your documents will be preserved, but all apps you have will be uninstalled
Anything and everything in your user folder is preserved, but everything else is gone. I am not sure about drivers.
Why did you need to reset your PC?
It was getting cramped with files and was lagging when gaming
You are not helping with the issue at hand
Ok then lets identify the root cause
Yes please
I am almost done setting up the VM
๐
Its on getting things ready for you. Then I need to install vbox guest additions.
๐
Ok I am ready
Alright so what do I do
Is system protection turned on?
No I had never used it
Not sure why, but windows has it off by default
Ok then lets go into recovery
Go to troubleshoot, advanced, and select startup settings
Alr
:(
Done
Select safe mode.
I have to restart
Ok
Yes that!
Not f4?
Not f4, the number 4 on your keyboard
Ok
If you can successfully boot to a desktop, you can backup your files and create installation media!
Umm pc just shut down by itself
It couldn't start into safe mode?
Are you sure it's not a hardware related issue? (Power supply issues)
Wait I will try
No I tried to go into safe mode if just put me back in here
Actually all you have to do is select the existing partition your current install is on when you reinstall and it will create a windows.old directory with all the user data.
Yes.
So at this point, you should probably reinstall
Go to that other computer and sign in with admin privileges.
Done
Wait for this I need to restart into my windows partition and show you, cuz usb doesnt really work in virtualbox
I already got win11 in a usb
Oh perfect
Not sure which one but I know I do somewhere
Boot to the usb
I just plug it in?
Plug it in and tell your uefi to boot from it
Alr
Also its worth mentioning a couple of after market Windows iso's that improve performance, ReviOS and Ghost Spectre
I wouldn't recommend it though
Yeah, just thought I'd mention it since he was trying to improve performance
I just booted into it
If you care about privacy I wouldnt recommend it
Ok good!
Click on next and click install now
That is the point of them though, they actually go through and disable a bunch of spyware / services
Do I try again?
It booted to your main hard drive. What is the manufacturer of your computer/motherboard?
For me it's MSI
F11 is Asrock boot menu
but yeah, del works too, you can find the boot options on the last page
It might just be the wrong USB
If you boot from the usb and it doesnt boot, it might not have an os.
Yea
Done
1 sec
Here is the tool. You will need admin rights to use it
There is stuff in that hard drive that I do not wa nt to delete
I might look for the other one
Dont worry it will NOT get deleted.
If you follow MY instructions your data WILL be preserved!
Look man I don't want to take the chances I will look for the other one it is late anyway I don't want to waste your time I will message you if I need anymore help
Ok but im just trying to help you out.
If you install windows on an existing windows installation, it will put everything in a windows.old folder that you can access
Im not one of those people who tell people to delete system32
I appreciate that but it's late and I don't want to risk losing the items on that hard drive
What time is it for you? For me it's 8pm
3am
Oof
2:53
Ah UK guy like me ๐
Mhm
Its safe btw, it will keep your old files.
I am not exactly meant to be up I got school tmr ๐
If you want to continue later, just let one of us know
BTW my gif recording on what you should do is almost done.
I will give you a word of advice, dont run sudo rm -rf / cuz it will delete everything on your system
Thanks
Don't worry, that wont work on Winblows ๐
If your UK like me can you help at art 3 something tmr
Abt

Try this. For me it errored out, but you can use Rufus
Same here. SM9 you can help him out, but I was glad to help out!
Sure, I don't mind, but also don't wanna hijack your customer (for lack of better words)
Hi sorry for being late getting back, do you still need help?
I am sorry for being even later <.< one of my friends came over and reinstalled windows for me so everything is fine now
