#WHEA Fatal Hardware Error 1
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
it leaves no blue screens, just instantly reboots
nothing in event log, only after the system launches I get a whea fatal hardware error 1 log and kernel power 41
It could be the old drivers for the 3000 series CPU that is causing it. try removing all drivers for CPU, and installing drivers for the new CPU.
eventviewer has nothing?
nothing
it just happened twice in 20 minutes
weird
it usually happened once a month
try a memtest
memtest went fine
did you do it 4 times?
Have you looked at device manager and try to find any conflicts?
as in 4 passes?
which mobo are u using?
I tried more extreme ram testing than memtest
b450 steel legend
I noticed on the internet that a lot of people have this issue with: asrock mobo, WD drives, changing ryzen cpu recently
assuming u already updated the bios, can u check if there's a new one tho?
and I did all of these
there isnt new one
but the one and always connecting factor is changing ryzen cpu recently
what is weird it just happened twice in 20 minutes
under the same circumstances of me playing the same game
in device manager, have you tried uninstalling drivers for the CPU, then letting the system reinstall drivers automatically?
so I hope that piece of hardware breaks down and fails so I can see what it is
probs just hardware conflict then imo, unless those manufacturers provide updates it might just be an issue u will have to live with
as I said all drivers are fresh
I did a stress test 100% gpu 100% cpu 100% ram usage
nothing happened
You have not said before that you have refreshed the drivers. so don't bit the hands that are trying to help you.
Look, settle down. I know how frustrating this can be.
Other than CPU, and power, what is installed into the motherboard?
?
Like PCIe card, M.2 drives.
Have you got a spare GPU?
I do, its not gpu
it's not a GPU???
its not gpu fault.
Did you do XMP?
yes
it doesnt matter if I run it at xmp or at my maxed custom OC it keeps the same crash intervals
I didnt try disabling XMP because that would make my pc unusable
I lose a lot of fps and system is slow without it
but does the crash happen without XMP?
I'm not a masochist to run it without xmp for a month
Exactly... makes me also wonder and also how about randomly look into the event viewer? and show us whats happening in there?
but it was fine with XMP on forever until I changed my cpu
there is nothing in event viewer
literally nothing
There is always something in the event viewer
it only shows kernel power 41 and whea fatal hardware error 1 after it crashes
nothing else
what is there to show
that is all the information it has
both of these errors just say that they happened
but not why
it shows me information before and after those events
like which program was triggering it
where it comes from
system power is reported by system, whea by DPS
this shows me windows update fails.
nothing like that
crash happened at ~22:25:10
actually even earlier
system booted at 22:25:06
after crash
so ~22:25:00
no info before crash
Have overclocked the CPU?
I have been searching information. there are 2 possibilities. there is a driver issue, or the 5800x draws too much power for that Motherboard.
asrock says it should not have a problem with 5000 series
AsRock states on their website that that MoBo is rated to 105W CPU. the 5800x is a 105W CPU. you are at that MoBo's limit with THAT CPU.
Yeah but the overal power could be to high ๐ค

look at the 5 in the red circle, and read what is said.
Other people just suggest adding a little bit of voltage to the CPU ๐ค
Max safe is : https://linustechtips.com/topic/1316226-maximum-safe-24-7-voltage-for-ryzen-5800x/#:~:text=1.35V is the widely,at around 1.3-1.325V.
so you could just add it to 1.29 or 1.30 and see if it runs more stable ๐ค
So I have a rather exotic / high-end setup here I'll be building / upgrading. I'll be going from Ryzen 5 2600 + X370 Taichi -> Ryzen 5800X CPU + MSI Prestige X570 Creation. For cooling I currently have a custom water loop with 2 pumps, 4 radiators (totaling 1320mm of rad space), 15 fans and an...
got the feeling your 5800X is not running stable at all
idk
it can run at full usage for hours
these crashes are random af
usually once a month
its first time they happened in 1 day
previous fastest record was like 6 days
so basically only happened since you changed your processor?
yea
thats what I thought but
why would cpu fail so rarely but work under max usage for so long without issues
Well you can always try a
Stress test,
prime95 test,
Furmark .
Memtest86?
So, when ruled out all, can still be cache on the memory ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I got cpu in august
last check of latest bios?
Either processor is bad, or your motherboard went wonkers.
it was released exactly a month before crashes ๐ค
I could downgrade to 4.20 maybe
my PBO was set to advanced with all on auto instead of enabled
what is PBO?
ah ... got it
without it ryzen works like shit
advanced was giving it limits of motherboard
I switched to enabled which will use limits of cpu
will get back here in a month lol
still happens
to all of these crashes it happened today too
no event view logs?
nothing new
everything looks the same
kernel power 41, whea event id 1
raw error data looks almost identical
why would it be a psu issue
you dont want to argue this again
just get a better PSU or get to a shop and get it diagnosed
if you want to be sure.
I checked psu voltages, they are fine even under 100% load on all components
after a while you have to put down your foot and say enough is enough . and get a second opinion.
Noted, done arguing.
get a second opinion
not from here.
But from a PC shop
they can swap components and tell you the complete answer.
I cannot work with Hypotheticals and arguments which do not further the issue.
so get yourself out there and go to a shop
maybe you dont have enough knowledge to do so.
and shops wont test it because its too rare
No, you do not have enough components to work with
Or want to work with
so go to a shop!

Basically you have a pc with ISSUES
not me ๐

good we can have a laugh about it.
PC shops have a diagnostic fees and can pinpoint the issue.
This service is free, and Im done with this topic ๐ .
I have to go by what you tell me, and have to trust you have done everything in your power, to fix your PC.
And I am just a soundboard, reflecting what you say , in hopes you can fix it.
So get of your lazy butt and go to the shop!
shops wont fix this.
They do.
No they wont
none of them will even attempt to try to diagnose a issue that happens once a month
all I asked just want me to buy new component from them instantly
go to a better shop ๐คทโโ๏ธ
if its only the Ryzen 5800X causing issues and before it didnt
could it be just the Ryzen causing you issues?
RMA it and try again?
best option you got , if this is the only chance.
@modern tapir RMA your processor
could be faulty
since this is the only chance.
I have wrote a WHEA binary data parser and the whea error contains
MEMORY_ERROR_SECTION
PROCESSOR_GENERIC_ERROR_SECTION
XPF_MCA_SECTION
RECOVERY_INFO_SECTION
but these sections dont seem to contain any valid data
MEMORY_ERROR ErrorStatus Type is 3 which isnt defined in the possible values of that error
bank and device are both 0 same as targetid so no info there
