In the pic above.
PLEASE help! Over Current Detected USB on New High End build.
take a closer look at external USB ports on the chassis and internal USB connectors on the mobo, if there is something touching it. A loose cable, the chassis, or such
Unplug ALL USB devices external to your system and reboot the machine
if you read the post he said that all usb devices are already unplugged
We had a case like this a while ago where the motherboard leads weren't insulated from the chassis (guy literally built his pc on a metal plate), and they were shorting.
But basically, after you check all your usb ports and can't see anything physically wrong with them, look for shorts in other places.
Somehow the USB error is the most sensitive to that.
@lime blaze
Check your standoffs and so on, so the mobo is insulated from the case at least.
I don't think it's the usb connectors that are the problem, but rather, there's a short on your motherboard perhaps.
Time to take it all out and see if the issue persists.
This is good advice.
Welp, OP is offline, but @mention me if you get back and have more questions.
confirm their is no debris in any of the USB devices, or on any of the internal ports.
Disconnect the front panel USB and see if the issue persists.
I tried it with the board outside of the case and the USBs plugged in and same thing just happened
You might need to RMA the motherboard.
We kinda went through the troubleshooting, different ports and cables and no cables at all, ruled out motherboard short as well. And it's still not working.
Replace the motherboard, that's the next step.
Take this step first though.
I did. Sadly all the ports look clear
I guess I need a new motherboard. I’m just worried to try to pull out the CPU without being able to let the PC warm up for 15 minutes
your cpu is am5, there is no reason to be scared because the socket latch is holding it in place
on older amd system am4 and below, if you pull you might take out the cpu at the same time but am5 moved to lga so its being held down by the latch now
if your still worried for some reason you could take a hair dryer and heat it up like that
Alright thanks. I’m going to try that and send the motherboard back
Do you guys think I should get the same motherboard replaced or a different one?
asus? ive never had issues with them the first motherboard i got was msi and it was doa so i switched to asus and never had problems
If it's within the return period, sned it back to the store and do an in store replacement. Ibe had a half dozen Asus boards with no issues.
Otherwise Asus will RMA it for The cost of shipping
If your up for it though, I'd still try and set it up outside the case and see if the issue persists
I did set it up outside the case, and the issue continued. I just sent it back to new egg for replacement, and if the replacement has the same issue I’m going to just get a different board.
Best of luck,
