me and my friend have relatively the same setup(i3 10100 16gb Ram), but I have a better GPU(1660s vs 1650). For some reason whenever we play Valorant we get relatively the same fps on max graphics, and I actually get slightly less. I feel like I should get a lot more. Is there a reason for this?Edit: 1920x1080 180-220 fps

yes

#

who has more rgb?

oak hound
#

me

opaque mica
#

who has better cooling

#

are your temps better than his

oak hound
#

Yeah

#

I do

#

He's using a prebuilt

#

thats the only thing I can think of

opaque mica
#

same OS?

oak hound
#

I use windows 11 pro he uses 10. Would that have a huge effect? I remember it being the same before I switched, because I hoped for an improvement.

Is your ram in dual channel

#

Slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4

oak hound
#

Yes

#

my motherboard labeled how to insert it

knotty latch
#

Is your ram running xmp

oak hound
#

My motherboard is also a lot better than his

#

What is that

knotty latch
opaque mica
#

whats the fps difference between u and him

opaque mica
oak hound
#

Mine goes to the 180s often but hovers 200s-210s while his is consistently 200-230

oak hound
opaque mica
#

go to task manager, then go to performance and click memory

#

and screenshot it here

opaque mica
#

click same time

oak hound
opaque mica
#

full screen it

#

cant see the right stuff

oak hound
knotty latch
#

Seems like your xmp is enabled

opaque mica
#

your ram speeds are fine

oak hound
#

could it just be my gpu isnt good at running valorant?

opaque mica
#

almost

oak hound
#

ok

opaque mica
#

how old is ur pc

#

and how old is his

#

did u buy used parts

knotty latch
#

When under load what temperatures do you get

oak hound
#

brand new. I built it a few weeks ago. His is a year old, and I bought all brand new

#

around 100-120 degrees Fahrenheit on valorant.

#

it doesnt struggle with it though

knotty latch
#

In C

oak hound
#

?

#

what do you mean

knotty latch
#

In Celsius

#

We don't use Fahrenheit for computers

opaque mica
#

these americans 🤣

oak hound
#

sorry

#

37-48

knotty latch
oak hound
#

it just defaulted to it idk how to change it

#

i used celcius on my old pc

opaque mica
#

37 to 48 is good

#

waiit

#

where does your freind live

#

does he live far away from u

#

cuz like

#

when u play on servers other side of the world u can get fps issues

oak hound
#

Near me, were in the same neighborhood

opaque mica
#

oh right

#

ethernet or wifi stick?

oak hound
#

I use a wifi stick he uses ethernet

opaque mica
#

ah

oak hound
#

he gets 300mbps, I get 100

opaque mica
#

yeah when i switched to ethernet, my pc was much faster

#

try ethernet

oak hound
#

I cant

opaque mica
#

why?

oak hound
#

My room doesnt have the ethernet cables

#

you mean long term?

knotty latch
#

Ethernet vs Wi-Fi wouldn't affect FPS

opaque mica
#

wdym

oak hound
#

I should invest in it?

oak hound
#

I looked it up

opaque mica
oak hound
#

I don;t have bad wifi though

#

100 isn't terrible

opaque mica
#

i noticed alot of difference when i switched to ethernet

oak hound
#

I get around 30 ping, which is the same as him

opaque mica
#

wait

#

its just a cable

#

connect it to your router

oak hound
#

my router and my pc are in differennt rooms

opaque mica
#

get like a 30m cable

#

bro my router is in my parents room

#

i run it through the house for it to reach my room heh

knotty latch
# oak hound it does

Your computer pumps out the frames, the internet sends packets of information like where you player is

oak hound
#

I could technically run a super long ethernet cable under my house and into my room

opaque mica
#

i mean its deffo worth a try in my book

#

for me i noticed a huge bump in performance

#

wait

#

is ur valorant already smooth

#

then u might not notice much

oak hound
#

I dont currently have a cable but Ill consider buying one. I feel like since my parts are better (PSU, GPU, Motherboard) I should get more

opaque mica
#

they're inexpensive

#

maybe 10 dollars for a long one

#

get a long one, its always better than having one thats too short

oak hound
#

its super smooth but I want to be able to run higher performing games and I want to make sure my computer can run them as best as it can

opaque mica
#

maybe 30 meters

opaque mica
#

is monitor same for both yall

#

and same res

oak hound
#

I dont know his exact model, but its a $100-$150 ROG Strix 27 inch

opaque mica
#

mointor size doesnt matter

#

resolution does

oak hound
#

same resolution

#

1920x1080

#

Mine is an HP 27m 27 inch $200

#

his is 75 hertz but that wouldnt affect fps right

#

mine is 60

opaque mica

I have it on+boost I think

#

njvm thats reflex low latency
