#my cpu frequency/ speed is at 0.8ghz I need help

I have a Ryzen 7 5700x and this is my first of build and I only built it a couple weeks ago so I guess it’s always been like this
Yeah aha any ideas what the problem might be?
under high temperatures, the cpu will reduce clock speed to avoid overheating issues
faulty cooler could be one reason
It’s not high temps though
go into your bios first thing, take a look at the clock speeds, and see if its possible to manage it through there
if your cpu is running that slow its 100% bottle necking your gpu
Yeah for sure
The clock speed ration is 8.00?
Ratio*
send me a photo, your pc, bios, anything you think would help
and also
did you check that clock speed while you were in a game or outside of it
windows might be throttling your cpu, if you were just idling it might have just been that frequency for a bit
I was outside of game but I’m pretty sure it’s always like that anyway as I’m experiencing some serious ingame issues with my gpu anyway and I’m 90% sure this is why
I checked it in bios and task manager
Also I can’t really get a good pic of my pc right now sorry
thats fine
I dont think I can do any more than that, if it isnt overheating or being throttled I dont believe I know enough to help much
Damn okay
Think it could be a faulty cpu or motherboard or something?
most likely not the cpu
possibly the mobo
if the cpu was fault in most cases the computer itself wont display anything or run programs
bc it wont be able to retrieve and read data from the ssd or hdd
So might be a faulty motherboard?
Ah okay sure
sorry I couldnt help more
Does the cpu clock speed fluctuate at all or just stays like that?
There are few ways poppin in my head as a basic troubleshoot.
- Restore defaults in BIOS
- Check your CPU temps in BIOS if not avalaible check it thru program like Core Temp.
- Just in case get your PC cleaned and change thermal paste. Check if the fans are spinning and if there is nothing loose like cable or the heatsink itself.
- I would try to run cinebench to see if its overheating issue after that, see if your CPU clocks higher or its just lazy as that.
If your cpu shows no temps it can be faulty sensor on mobo. Happens.
Update drivers, check for BIOS update and try again
But AMD 5700x should base clock at 3.2 minimum. Might be faulty motherboard hope not cpu tho which doesnt happen often
I had a similar assumption, I doubt its the cpu itself though since its managing to run, load, and access programs. If the cpu was faulty it wouldnt be able to read and trasnfer that data from the SSD or HDD
True, when i run into problem, update all, if not working, reinstall whole windows and usualy it fix everything.
Might be some clogged up software doing this
possibly
chances are it the motherboard, if none of the debug lights are on, might be worth looking into
bit of an expensive and difficult replacement tho
Its simpliest to clean reinstall
Always do the simpliest tasks one by one if that fails than asume mobo is fkd
Ya. Less tech savy replacing mobo needs an expert qho knows what to do
he could also try wiping the drive as a last resort, if he has bloatwear constantly running on his pc ive seen stuff like that happen
reset cmos
I replaced the motherboard on my spare pc last week, hour and a half long process it was a pain in the ass
possible its just a misconfigured setting in the bios
mainly bc some of the connections were in different places so alot of cable rerouting
resetting cmos would fix this
possibly
I can do it in 30 minutes but i have fair number of them on my hands bit can never bee to carefull
Cmos reset is option i wanted and forgot to wrote yes can help usualy does
I build pcs as a hobby with old and spare parts, along with doing it as a side hustle, on a good day I can completely swap the mobo in 45 mins, if I have to reroute a bunch of cables and have to check manuals for certain pins, it can take around an hour and a half
