#Should i be concerned about the temp of my 13900k?

I have my 13900k installed with a 240 AIO.

Im idling at around 35-40C, drawing anywhere from 15-70 watts, depending on what windows is doing in the background.

However, when i stress test the CPU in Cinebench, it fairly quickly reaches 90-95C, and if i sustain a load on it, itll go beyond that, 95-100. Its drawing almost 260 watts at that point, which i know is a lot to ask of a 240 AIO to deal with.

Should i be concerned about this? I've already disabled the "Asus performance enhancement" setting in bios, that lets the cpu draw 300+ watts.

I havent yet tried to play around with the pump speed. That will be the next thing i try out though.

Thanks for any inputs/solutions!

You'd want 360mm AIO minimum

#

Either that or power limit it

#

You won't get full performance but at least it won't thermal throttle on you

I think if i can just limit it to 240 watts or something like that, and increase the pump speed a bit, it might be alright. In everyday use and gaming nothing is going to utilise that cpu 100% anyway. Ill look at getting a 360mm AIO soon though

Power limit 2

Aka power limit when boosing

Should be under cpu settings somewhere im guessing in bios?

Depends on motherboard bios and manufacturer but most likely yes

Thank you! What would you say i should limit it to? Clearly its having some trouble at 260 watts. So maybe 220? And if i limit it at 220, would i be giving up a lot of performance?

i would say try 205 watts

Wow okay, thats not a very big performance loss. Ill try 205 watts. Thanks!

@noble mauve so in my Asus BIOS, its locked to auto ๐Ÿ˜ฆ i cant change it from auto. PL2 is also called "short duration package power limit" in my limited research ๐Ÿ˜„

Yeah for that 13900K you will need a 360 or bigger AIO.

Also, definitely worth installing a contact frame to get the absolute best surface possible for heat transfer.

If you shoot for a contact frame, it looks like the Thermalright frames is going to be your best bet.

Here. You just need to watch the first 10 minutes or so.

Hmm, i just ran cinebench for about 5 minutes, and my computer shut off after about 5 minutes. The package temp never rose above 90C though ๐Ÿค” and it was only drawing 205 watts as i set it to.
