#what's the difference between a SSD and a HDD?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hey, this thing is good for something.
If the logo didn't give it away, that's chatGPT
How much of both do I need to have multiple games
You don't need to have both.
Hm?
In a optiplex, do both ssd and hdd store in the disk drive?
So only one can be there right?
getting an SSD is always a welcome upgrade over an HDD
They both store data, they show up as drives in windows or other OS
So is ssd better than hdd
for speed, yes
Hm
although an hdd is cheaper for bulk storage
but for a boot drive, an ssd is worth getting
Which is better for storing games
ssd is the sports car, hdd is your large van
both go on the road and are good at different things :P
you'll experience better loading times with an ssd
much nicer experience with an ssd as a boot drive too
depends on how many things you'll be downloading
how many games do you plan to hoard or install at once?
3-4 games
1tb should be enough
should be plenty, yep
But I am able to have both
you could get an mx500 or a 870 evo
Right
Ok
sure, it's a desktop computer right? those usually have 6 sata ports for hdds, then 1-2 fast nvme ports for ssd
It's a optiplex
that's a brand and I don't even know about them much
it's a dell prebuilt system
ah, one of these tiny ones
there are mid tower versions too
you should check the motherboard or vendor website what kind of ssd it supports for expansion
if it's sff, then the best gpu you could slot in there would probably be the rx 6400 without breaking the bank
Getting it off ebay
I don't think it's a sff
is it a thin computer
the seller still has the exact model number on the listing, no?
send a picture
Is a GTX1050Ti better than rx 6400
if not, I wouldn't even go near that
probably a better buy
please don't buy those...
also, consider gtx 1060 6gb
how about this
linus made a video about budget pcs or "getting a new gpu isn't always good"
consider getting a used 1080 on ebay, it's way faster than a 6400
it's faster than any other sff gpu, so it's a compromise
if they are getting a midtower pc, then size is less of a concern

Budget GPUs might look cheap, but they’re more expensive than you think for such low-end cards. When...
Yep that video had good points in it.
looks like a mid tower system
That's the tower
Why?
im not being mean or anything but stop what you're doing and i would do some research first
i know it's tempting
I think it's good
i got scammed by a 300 dollar "gaming pc" once
an absolute waste of money, specs were horrible
for the price
it's a 3rd gen i5, says in the specs
I'm smart
why would you do that
even the specs are not specifics, could be a very crappy i5
what gen i5 is it?
3rd
2 tb hdds are relatively cheap nowadays
and those aren't discrete gpus
those are integrated
3.2GHz base speed, lessee what that matches
you're going to be running like 20 frames in a lot of titles
it seems to have a rx460 included
What's your budget man?
300 smh
okay
just watch the video i showed you above
for the ebay pc you showed me above, league of legends can run on a single core processor
you can run it with your grandma's 20 year old pc
and for fortnite, they're probably saying you can run this game at the lowest possible settings at like 30 frames or something
it's all a marketing scheme to get people who don't really know tech to buy it
here's a great deal on a budget card on ebay
you can find a 1060 used for like 50-100 dollars
right so it's an i5-3470, only thing that matches
here's a great deal on a budget cpu that works great with the rx 580
but I guess you're over that listing already :)
you can get an amd cpu instead as well
along with a gtx 1060
get the 6 gb version not the 3 gb
huge performance difference between the two, not just the memory
when you use chatgpt cause you don't know the answer
listen yall i have to go back to studying
make sure this dude doesn't get scammed by getting a shitty "gaming pc"
i trust yall
oh also great deal on a psu for this type of build
What
Bro all I want is a decent pc
I've been looking for weeks
you're looking at the wrong spots
I'm broke
i know
Too bad
that's why people like linus tech tips are here to help you
they're making sure budget gamers doesn't get scammed
they're trying to make sure that you get the best possible value

RIP the GTX 1060 6GB. The 1650 is now in first place, so we went diggi...
No. I had chatGPT open already, it finishes a paragraph of a perfectly fine explanation faster than I do.
Why can't I buy the pc I had above?
check out gamers nexus as well
it's not a gaming pc, it's a shitty workstation that's overpriced
that's why
the cpu in it is 11 years old
this
i got scammed by hat 300 dollar gaming pc i mentioned it had a 2008 dual core processor
my pc would randomly crash all the time
do not make the same mistake i did

Then should I get thi
So?
and no gpu
Can't I change that?
listen i don't know what your situation is at the moment
but it seems you're really desparate for a computer
if it's for school, just get a cheap chromebook for homework and stuff
and make sure you're getting the right one as well...
but on ebay there's lots of great computer parts you can buy
you can put them together for a budget pc
watch the 2nd video i posted above
most gamers are like you, we don't poor shame in this community. Linus made a video on a great budget gaming pc
