The power button got pushed on my android phone and it went into that emergency mode or whatever where you can do a list of things and one of them was factory reset and so when i look at my phone my instinct was to click a button and it was already on the factory reset option and it reset everything. I dont have backups of my pictures and videos is it possible to recover? Important note is I didn't have a lock screen so it's not encrypted. I bet it's possible with a root but verizon phones can't be rooted
#I messed up badly. can you undelete an android phone?

Did you actually factory reset it? If you didn't just reboot from recovery
but if you factory reset im sorry that data's gone.
it's like formatting in Windows
When I looked at my phone I thought it was off so I pressed the power button to turn it on not realizing it was on just all black and there is little tiny text at the top which for some reason happened to be on the factory reset option
Why can't they have a confirm screen
... there is?
also, last i checked "undelete" wasn't a word in the english language.
Well I mean undeleting isn't very hard on other devices
There is not. If you pressed and held the power button for idk how long a menu pop up and you use the volume buttons to move up and down and the power button to press it. So it went down to factory reset and when I tried to turn the phone on it pressed the reset button. There was no confirm
what phone u got?
to do that through bootloader is like 4 confirmation screens on most phones
so that raises more questions than it answers, what phone and HOW
I don’t know a lot about android but maybe look for a way to get the whole drive with all it’s contents to show up on a computer and use a data recovery program to scan it
I've done lots of things with android (involving installing a custom operating system) that involves confirming at least 3 times if you wanna wipe AND you have to type in "yes" to actually format it so there is protection
maybe your particular recovery doesn't
I have too so that's my question as well haha
Android is encrypted by default for a while now, so data recovery services probably won't be able to help. If you wiped your phone there's no way I know of to get things back that were only on the phone.
This highlights the importance of having backups for important things.
google photos is nice for most of your data
if you own a pixel device as far as i know you get unlimited backup storage for that device
that's been discontinued for ages now
or for "original quality"
it's still unlimited for compressed though
Some data recovery services may be able to recover it
Yeah they should be able to
well if that's the case i accept all of them before even seeing my phone because i pressed 1 button and it was all gone
i looked up a video of how to factory reset a note 5 without password
and those have a different but similar menu
and those do have a confirmation screen
mine did not
i know it's different because theirs has a console with everything going on in the reset
mine instantly shut off then came back on with the blue screen and the android robot and it said erasing
it's a verizon phone so that is probably why it's different
Oh wait
that's normal
that's a test screen
Thanks for finally saying what device it is, would've been really helpful two days ago when I first asked for it
Samsungs have a test screen that say updating and erasing with the blue gear logo or the android robot depending on age while entering bootloader
just force restart
it's not actually erased
as far as I know samsung is the only company that does that
but my phone was factory reset when it powered back on
factory reset is not the same as erased. erased is if it has completely no data on it what so ever (no os, no recovery no nothing)
factory reset is the state your phone is in when you unbox it and turn it on for the first time
