I'm refurbishing an old office pc (i7-4790), it works great but it has only four usb slots and i need more for sure

i have a free 1x pcie 2.0 slot and i'm searching for a usb expansion card, the problem is that i dont really know what to look for

i dont know how many ports that slot can handle and i'm reading 1 star reviews on amazon of people frying hdd and getting their pc on fire and i'm now i'm kinda scared of choosing the wrong one

this is my amazon.it search prompt so you can see what i can buy where i live:

that could be a solution but it doesnt work that well with my setup, i have the pc under my desk and the rear usb ports are slow

are pcie expansion cards THAT bad? like i have that slot that i wont use for anything else and it feels kinda wasted like that

I’m sure there is something. They have PCIE x16 slots for nvme storage devices. I’m sure there is something for usb. But since it’s PCIE 2.0 it may be difficult. Idk any brands that would be best.
