Do your pc boots?
So
The pc is on?
It turns on
I suggest resetting your bios
U have a cmos battery on your motherboard?
Is that the little round battery?
Yea
U can take it out and reseat it in
Or I just take it and turn on ur pc
It’ll reset bios settings
Then turn it back off and reseat battery
Okay, I'll send a picture in a moment to confirm what battery ti is
Or just take it out while pc off and put it back in
Ok
It’s a little round battery
Okay there are quite a few little round batteries.
I'll take pictures and you can see if you see it
A few?
There should only be one
That’s strange
The battery should be near ur gpu
Erm
Check in between ur cooler
It might actually be uhh
What’s ur motherboard model
Oh jeez
yeah it's right behind my gpu

Look like the right battery to you?
@idle island (sorry to ping, I know I said it might take a second, but I got it out)
Yea that is the battery
Alright it’s out, should I wait a certain amount of time or just reseat it
Reseat now
Should I put the graphics card back in or just see if it boots rn
Well I’d need a display so I should probably put in the graphics card
Put graphics back in
Boot to bios?
I turned it on and the USBs still don’t work so my keyboard doesn’t have power.
Saw this on Reddit, are they onto something?
Yes
I’m waiting the 10 minutes now. What do I do if this doesn’t fix it?
That didn’t fix it
I reset the cmos using the clear cmos pins and that also didn’t work. I’m looking online and getting seriously worried because people have this issue but no one has fixed it yet from what I can tell
Disconnect all mass storage devices from your USB ports.
That's likely what's locking up your USB.
What do you mean all mass storage devices? The only thing plugged in is my keyboard, mouse, webcam
Well hard drives and USB keys. Unplug your webcam and give it another go.
I have a nvme and a ssd but everything else plugged into usb was unplugged and it didn't work either
Are you able to access your BIOS at all?
No
Not at all
I've reset cmos twice now and it looks like secure boot has somehow survived both times
I didn't read all this shit
But you reset the bios by pulling the battery
and reinserting it?
And by shorting the pins
Secure-Boot didn't sruvive
i promise
Even if it did, you should have access to the BIOS. Windows just won't start
That's what I want to think, but everything seems to suggest secure boot is still stopping my system from working
But I'm open to troubleshooting ideas you have
I will try that in a second
I just tried to boot the pc without a cmos battery in it to see if anything would happen and I still got nothing
Yeah it won't boot without the CMOS battery
lol
dumb question, are you sure the monitor is plugged in?
Also do you have any Q-Codes error lights
or anything like that?
The monitor is plugged in, and where would I check for q-code errors
B550 aorus elite ax v2
I just reset the pins again and nothing
My pc turns on, the motherboard lights come on, fans spin, but it won't display any video output and none of my usb devices turn on or light up
Hmmm
I wonder if your mobo is fuckered
You're 100% sure you set the pins back correctly
after you reset theM/
What do you mean set them back correctly?
My pins don't reset like that
and then move the little box back
I just have two little pins that I short out
B550 aorus elite ax v2
Here’s a picture of my manual
It only references clearing cmos by shorting those two pins and/or taking out the battery
I've done both, multiple times now. And nothing has changed.
Oh okay so you don't have 3 pins
My board has 1-2-3 pin
and the "jumper" is on pin 1-2 "normal mode"
and when on 2-3 it's "clear cmos"
Touching them with a screwdriver also works
(don't mean that in a snarky way) but I have reset the cmos about 5 times now by both battery and shorting the pins
I do
Does it happen to have a computer speaker in it?
I'm not sure? How could that help?
Since you don't have Q-code error codes
the speaker is what we need
it will beep at us
and then we can figure out what's worng
I mean I've got a speaker with me
it sends morris code to us and lets us know lmao
it's a computer speaker though, that attaches to the motherboard
Like this pc has a speaker plugged up to it now
ohh, what would it look like
my old pc is a bit older
it makes noise actually
once I plugged the wrong ram in
Amazon.com: Motherboard Speaker
and it beeped
It might have one, let me check
If your OLD PC beeps when you turn it on. It has a motherboard speaker
i'll crack it open and check
Awesome
noooooooooo
Man idk
do you have onscreen ?
on screen graphics
onboard*
sorry
God I can't think correctly
pull out all the ram sticks
but 1
and try
I think you killed your motherboard honestly
So do I, but how tf does turning on secure boot fry a motherboard
If a motherboard was fried, would it's lights turn on?
Like the lights turn on, fans power up, gpu turns on
Yes
But usb ports don't work and I get no display
No, they were all working perfectly fine before I changed the bios
oh
nvm I see what you're sayin
You're 200%
fucking sure
the bitch is plugged in all the way
mobo 24pin
CPU pins
GPU pins
and you didn't accidentally select the wrong source for your monitor?
i did that once
took 3 hours
on god it is all plugged in
had my PC on a pizzabox trying to figure out if the motherboard was shorting on my case
hmmm
i would say motherboard is bad then
not from secure boot changing
from you messing with the battery, maybe (maybe)
oh btw
did you put the battery back in correctly?
is there a special way to do that?
it has a + and - sign
oh really
yes
let me take a look at that
basically it's either upside down or it isn't
I see the + side on the circle
but there is no indicator anywhere in the hole it goes in
the + sign faces up
i believe
send a photo of how it's installed now
i'll be able to tell you
OH LMAO
the "directin" doesnt matter
no it's the right way
okay
i was wondering why there was directionality for a circle
But buy a motherboard speaker and confirm before doing anything else
Maybe a local PC shop will ahve one
It'll give you beep codes to diagnose the issue
I'll look around, but I cannot wait to have one shipped, especially if it'll just tell me I need a new motherboard that I can then wait to have shipped
I'll call gigabyte tho and see if they can help with anything. Do you think this kind of thing is covered under the basic warranty? I didn't pay for any special kind of warranty
Should be
They'll walk you through everything you've done already
And then RMA the board
Does your mobo support bios updates even if it's off?
I forget what that feature is called
I think so
I was just reading about that. I think it might
If it does, maybe you can flash a bios to it and see if it'll work?
yeah
Worth a shot right
This gonna be funny if all this, and it's dead ram or cpu
something stupid
like it just happened because you turned off the PC
lol
I would be blown away. This all started immediately after I turned on secure boot
Man it happens
I had my PC booting yesterday
I go to install windows (it freezes)
I get Q-Code 55 "Memory Not Detected"
My PSU was supplying just enough power to make it work half-assed like I had it
And then I put a load on it, and the PSU said NOPE
said CYA dudes i'm out
I hope flashing the bios works 🙂
