I am planning to get a storage upgrade for my laptop and looking for one that is 1TB and a lot of sources tell me that this one is a good one. Also on another note, I heard about how bad DRAM-less SSD can get and be but are substantially cheaper. I only have a 3.0 slot left on my laptop so it's a waste going for a 4.0 one.

It will be cheaper

I used a 980 currently its wonderful, but I think you need a heatsink since it can get hot

#

Unless your using it for light loads of course

#

But I agree with mr.thor you should get an alternative

#

If you cannot ulitized it all just buy what you can ulitize

yeah I know about Crucial but the ones that are cheap dont have dram, and I dont know how the 980 would translate to 970 Evo Plus on the heat department

Dramless m.2 drives are fine they will be a bit slower, but if you aren't utilizing the m.2 drive to its fullest potential which is not gaming its heavier workloads like video editing.

how is video editing heavy on the ssd? (like is where the software is installed or where the files for the project is located)

Project files

#

Though I installed the software on my nvme and that has become the dedicated drive for video editing

leaden solar

well if thats the case i would still want one with dram as I do video editing which you have said to be why dram is useful

cunning sun

And crucial has good nvme drives for a good price

cunning sun

cunning sun
#

Do you have a gen 3 slot?

leaden solar
#

yes

cunning sun
#

P2 might be good to nab then

leaden solar
#

but thats dram less?

cunning sun
#

Sorry I meant the p3 gen 3 version my bad

leaden solar
