AMD Ryzen 5 4600G or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 if you have a Gpu both around 100$ right now in Eu so probably cheaper in US
there are many option for mobos ~100 euros for am4 just make sure they support the cpu and dont need bios update
and you can easily pick a 16 kit of ram for 40-50 so it should be in ur budget
Personally i wouldnt try to find a ddr3 cpu and mobo right now cause you will probably have issues again if u need a good one for your tasks
You can always try used too for cheaper prices since probably lots of people will switch to the new stuff
#300 budget for a new motherboard and cpu

get 5500 and not 4600g..
5600g - do not buy an MSI board with a 5000 series, not worth it
assuming youre in the US, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PhYfnt
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BJqhtn a little cheaper
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5500
@cerulean roost but yeah it's not DDR 3 but at this point I don't know if I'd upgrade to an older ddr3 system when you can get a newer modern system. Unless I was buying used or something maybe.
@celest mantle MSI boards that bad? Lol
It depends on which series of msi boards
B450 series was pretty solid
I have a friend all he'll buy is the godlike board from msi lol@cerulean roost
Its a waste of money
I know right!?
Aren't those boards like 700 dollars
More like 1000 now
Basically the same cost as a computer could be
Yup it's pretty funny.. he makes excuses about why he needs it but.. I know why... Street cred lol
What street cred for who? Tech Jesus?
@cerulean roost lol
Yea
do you really wanna be stuck on ddr3 systems though in 2022
@tender phoenix kinda feel the same, they have all the nicer new features and you have some upgrade path if you're buying a cheaper system
Support for newer cards without a bottleneck for now too
yeah, for ddr3 youre stuck on 4th gen intel
Is 4th gen the last one to use ddr3?
i dont think so i checked wrong
Yeah an Intel build might actually be better if you could get the budget to stretch enough
Part List - Intel Core i7-12700F
Maybe something like that?
9th gen uses ddr4
i wouldnt use a ds3h with an i7
Intel.. lol
Part List - Intel Core i7-12700F
No I think it’s like 7th
PC part picker has failed us
7th gen also uses ddr4
12100f?
Doesn’t it also support ddr3? Or maybe it’s the 6th gen I’m thinking of …
