I’ve encountered a problem with an HDD that I use to store my games on (not preferable I know) and I can’t use it anymore without it messing up my pc and disconnecting all my usb devices. I narrowed it down and discovered that the HDD is what’s causing the problem which sucks cause it had 4tb of storage that I needed. Should I just cut my losses and spend the extra money on a good SSD to replace it since it would probably be more stable?

What do you mean messing with USB devices? Like, your keyboard and mouse keep disconnecting or?
Yes, I thought it was a problem with my pc but everything looks good as far as hardware is concerned. It’s only when the external hard drive is connected that it disconnects itself as well as those devices. Nothing else seems to trigger it.
Try a different hard drive. That'll determine if it's the motherboard or the drive.
The hard drive port, I should say.
Is the HDD connected via USB? Assuming your KB/M is also connected via USB, could it also potentially be a USB issue? Try uninstalling and re-installing USB drivers?
some adapters also do not support the size of 4TB
usually its 2tb only
cause the usb wont be able to drive the storage properly
usually hdd above 2tb need a pdu
It’s worked fine storing games and stuff for the last couple of years, not sure why it’s an issue now all of the sudden
My default c drive SSD works just fine I think. I took my pc to a very reputable shop and they said everything looked fine including the motherboard and couldn’t figure out the issue
I did that but it didn’t solve the issue, it’s weird
Yep, it just says they’re all up to date
