#v ram

What do you have exactly? If you have an Intel Arc GPU with 8GB of Vram, that's not upgradable. Your system RAM is however. Just look up its frequency and timings and buy a matching kit
um lemme check
But upgrading vram is not possible. If you mean extending the amount of RAM that is dedicated to the iGPU, I don't know honestly
no its that i want to play forza but i dont have enough video memory
Can you look at task manager to see how much vram is currently reserved for the GPU? You can see it under see more and then tje tab performance and then the GPU
how do i?
But honestly I don't know how to allocate more to the iGPU but I'm pretty sure that it's possible
Now go to the second tab that says performance
How much gets used in-game? 4gb doesn't seem that small.. it might not be a vram issue but rather that you have an i3 that your performance is bad
Cuz that's only a dual core CPU that you have which nowadays isn't much anymore for games
oh
but like how much v ram do i have?
but here it says i dont have enough video memory
im sorry i dont speak much tech language
none, as you're not using a dedicated/discrete gpu
oh
you're using an IGPU
oh
so your system memory is being used for it
is there any to convert to gpu without getting a new pc
Yeah, looks like you need a GPU then because you do meet the vram requirement, it's just dedicated system memory, so it just doesn't get recognized as vram
No, unfortunately not
if you don't increase system memory capacity. you will have a crappier time with it
anyway to make it recongnize it?
you're running your system on 8gb of ram
yhea
well you just need to increase what system ram you have
usually in the form of swapping ram stick with greater capacity
Go to the kingston website, type in your laptop model number and it will show you compatible ram options
he doesn't need to do that though
But you will have to open your laptop to upgrade the RAM
oh
but will it like improve it so i can play forza
like i dont have a gpu i have a igpu
he just needs to see if it's using a single stiock of ram currently with a spare slot free, and could add another stuck matching the specs of his current ram
you have a gpu, it's the igpu, unlike a dgpu
so like if i incrase ram will i have like more vram iknow i technailly dont but like will i be able to
this is my pc
i got it 4 years ago
so it it upgradbale on a laptop or not
but in the bios settings of the the laptop it may allow you to specify to be able to use more dedicated system memory as pseudo -vram
without knowing laptop make and model can't say fully, a picture means nothing
so im conculison if i incrase the ram it will increase like the sytem memory and i will have like in a sense 2gb vram
yes that can happen
how much do i need to incrase it to
i would suggest checking if it has 2 ram slots first
then from that you can decide either a matching stick or a complete swap out with a kit
hm i cant like disammble it but lets say it doesnt could get a ram stick that have like 16gb on 1 stick
Yes, there are even 32GB sticks out there
you could but if it's using 2 sodimm slots in the laptop and only 1 is in use, then you either get another 8gb stick that matches what's on there or you you can do a clean swap out with a 2x16gb kit
can't say without looking at it or knowing the full make and model of it
I'd suggest going for a 16GB stick if there's one slot only, if there's another slot, get another 8GB stick. If the RAM is soldered on, well, you're screwed xD
no
without full make and model
no clear suggestion can be made
aight i have a frien dthat has a mobile tech shop that has a friend that does computer work so like ima send my pc to him and let him see
It should be like HP xxxxbook 123 Gx, numbers and x's are placeholders here
if it soldered on ill get a new pc in 3 years if not ill upgarge to 2000
no point in just getting a stick of ram and finding out you can't do anything with it
GOD DAMIT
presumably that's a thin and light laptop
yhea it is ive connected it to external display
what pc would u reccomend for gaming that have atleats 2gb v ram and a laptop
lenovo ideapad 3 gaming/legion 5
but also not to costy
you can increase the ram on those and upgrade storage on them
and a second hand one can be gotten quite cheap
for like 500 bucks
also have their own dedicated gpu's on them
ok
what country?
so 10k rand then
yha but it will be better if the pcis less than dat
ill prob get a new one in 3 years
alright thanks for ur help
VRAM is part of the GPU. You cannot upgrade VRAM without changing GPUs.
AH. Well iGPUs are typically capped at 2GB maximum with dynamic allocation. Many computer manufacturers limit this to 512MB.
The only way to get a different iGPU is to get a new compatible CPU that has a better graphics core in it, but even then it still has the same limitation on it.
2GB in v ram???
Maximum typically.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/314289918777 as an example
not if amd
can do higher with an amd igpu from their apu's
Well it isn't AMD, sooooo
That is default allocation. The system can assign more memory to the Intel iGPU as it is needed.
its not upgragble right?
Nope. This appears to be in a laptop.
and i doubt he's experienced enough to explore the bios to see if it can be set to use 2gb as vram instead
He cannot. It's HP. The only option they typically expose is default allocation size which they cap at 512MB if it is exposed at all.
which sucks more so as it's a thin n' light laptop
sighhhh
plan to game on laptops like that is a big no and alotta disappoint
bro i got this for non gaming use but now i plan to game on it
You can add Virtual Ram to your system, that can improve performance, unused ram usage gets pushed on to your SSD and if its needed it gets reloaded into the RAM
i also got a macbook for schhol recently so i cant afford smth elese
plz how do i do that
No. That's terrible.
That will not work at all. The RAM allocation is entirely different for those two processes.
oh
The system will only allocate available RAM to the iGPU. It will not kick active code out of memory to retrain to the iGPU.
virtual ram is not the same as vram, and virtual; ram is your pagefile.sys, this will not fix his issue
oh youre talking over Vram my bad...
okkkk
Don't plan on gaming on this laptop unless you use something like GeForce Now cloud gaming. Not happening.
i cant afford smth like a gaming laptop rn
whats cloud gaming
no stadia tbh
slightly slower and much higher latency gaming
what is that
hmm how do i excatly do that
something that you could play on but your internet needs to be really stable and solid to use it
5G wireless should be stable enough as long as you have the bandwidth.
bandwith isnt the problem
alright
so
thaks
