it's a new system: 13600k + b660m + 6650xt+750w psu. I got a 12100f to troubleshoot but system still couldn't boot

The B660M does not ship with a BIOS compatible with the 13600K. You will need to flash it before you can proceed.

junior path
#

yeah I thought that might be the case, and I got a 12100f. when I put that in, nothing changes

harsh thorn
#

Okay. How does your CPU socket look?

junior path
#

I don't see any bent pins.. I'll send a pic soon

harsh thorn
#

Looks good.

#

Okay. What surface are you currently working on?

junior path
#

you mean where the mobo is? it's currently in the case

harsh thorn
#

Okay. And you have ensured that only the correct standoffs are installed?

junior path
#

I didn't install any standoffs, could that be the problem?

harsh thorn
#

Motherboard standoffs?

junior path
#

yeah no mobo standoffs

harsh thorn
#

Remove the motherboard and show me.

junior path
harsh thorn
#

Yeah you see those black nubs? Those are standoffs.

#

And this looks like the Corsair 4000D

junior path
#

ah ok.. those came with the case, I didn't add any

#

yes it's 4000d

harsh thorn
#

Okay some boards require that you remove some standoffs. See that you have no more standoffs than mounting holes on your board.

junior path
#

ok gimme a sec

harsh thorn
#

If there are standoffs that go beyond your board coverage, you don't need to remove them.

#

I assume this is a mATX board?

junior path
#

my mobo is msi b660m-a d4

#

yes

harsh thorn
#

Okay it looks like you have the correct standoffs installed.

#

Do you have another 4-pin CPU power cable? This could also be a 8-pin block made up of two 4-pin blocks

#

I wonder if your Motherboard is refusing to start up because you do not have all the CPU power inputs occupied?

junior path
#

I don't have extra CPU power cables

harsh thorn
#

What PSU do you have?

junior path
#

superflower 80+gold

harsh thorn
#

The exact model number please.

#

Do you have your purchase order available?

junior path
#

SF-850F14HG, it's 850w not 750w

harsh thorn
#

Okay then yes you do have another CPU cable in there somewhere. check your box

junior path
#

what I have in the box are 2 GPU cables, 1 peripheral and 3SATA cables

harsh thorn
#

That does not make sense. Did you buy this new?

junior path
#

was I supposed to get a different set of cables?

#

yes it's new

harsh thorn
#

Send a picture of the connector side of the power supply

junior path
harsh thorn
#

Yes you should have another CPU power cable. That PSU ships with two EPS 8-pin cables.

#

See if you accidentally used one as a VGA cable

#

Should not be possible, but check

harsh thorn
# junior path

Oh, no it is possible for a EPS cable to slot into a VGA block on this supply. Check that you didn't accidentally use one of the CPU cables on the graphics card.

junior path
#

oh sorry for the confusion, I have 2 CPU cables already plugged into the PSU along with the mobo and GPU cables

#

thought you wanted to see the PSU sockets w/o the cables so I took them off

harsh thorn
#

No. LOL.

#

You had both of those plugged in to the board?

junior path
#

yes

#

is there a way to check if one of them is faulty? I have another system but with different PSU and mobo

harsh thorn
#

You can try swapping the power supplies and see if it comes up

junior path
#

ok I'll do that in a bit, will reply here when I have tried that
