every startup i get a repairing drive c pop-up that takes 10 sec i have checked and 'repaired' the drive maybe 50 times but it does'nt fix it. how do i fix this cause it's getting annoying

i have tried every solution that google/reddit gives me but i can't find how to fix it.

The only solution is to stop using the drive until you can clone it. Otherwise you will lose data.

there is nothing that important on the drive

#

it's just a boot drive tbh

#

the only thing on it is 3 games and all basic programs

#

but nothing seems to be broken except that on every start-up it does the checking drive and repairing thing

soft dagger
#

Yeah. That's the drive saying something is messed up inside it. If you continue to use it, it will fail.

You need to clone the drive onto another drive and toss the dying one

#

Formatting the drive ain't going to do shit

soft dagger
#

In fact formatting the drive is more likely to induce the failure.

this is meaning nothing then?

PNY. Woof. It happens.

If you WANT to try, you can boot into a Windows install media and use the Command Prompt option to perform a command-line disk check. Ensure that you do NOT disrupt it at all. Your computer will be down for a few hours.

But there is a good chance this error will persist or return.

I would just go ahead and replace the drive

lethal crown
#

so it's hardware problem not a thing i caused?

soft dagger
#

Hardware, yes.

vagrant latch
#

Its a Hard disk drive, those are going to fail at somepoint whether you like it or not

soft dagger
#

It's an SSD actually.

#

Pay attention to the information being presented

vagrant latch
#

Shit, my bad

soft dagger

and it's only been like 2k hours not that high but if it's a hardware problem i'll just email the company i bought it from and ask for replacement. and if they don't it's not a expensive thing

When the blue option screen comes up, click use a device and then click the UEFI: Removable Device option. Sometimes it will say UEFI: <DEVICE MANUFACTURER PRODUCT NAME>

#

Or it will say EFI USB Device.

So, open your start menu and go to the power menu. Hold left shift and click restart

#

A blue menu screen comes up. Click Use a Device

#

What options are there?

lethal crown
soft dagger
#

Huh. Use a Device was not present..... weird.

#

Click Troubleshoot

#

Then click command prompt

Now run the following command: chkdsk C: /r

#

And go do something else while the computer works

lethal crown
