#Fans randomly start going at full speed

try to adjust you fan curve.

sick niche
#

fan curve?

thorny helm
#

yeah. it says, at what temperature how fast the fan is going. So it's possible, that you're PC is just about the point, where the fan curve says to go at full speed.

#

you can change this setting in you're BIOS.

charred wedge
#

Reason fan speed up is because the gpu is driving fans at certain speeds at certain degrees.

#

The higher your gpu heat is, the faster the fan speed up.

thorny helm
#

yeah.

sick niche
#

so i need to lower my graphics settings?

charred wedge
#

No change fan curve in the BIOS

#

Do you know how to get in the bios?

thorny helm
sick niche
#

this never happened when i had a 1080p

thorny helm
#

the fans cool down you graphis card, ad at a chertain speed the go full out, so that you're GPU doesn't overheat.

thorny helm
charred wedge
sick niche
#

should the fans run at full speed if the gpus temp is 70c and above

sick niche
thorny helm
charred wedge
#

I would say 75 degree 100%

#

And around 70 on 80%

sick niche
#

its just weird how this has never happened when i had a 1080p monitor

charred wedge
#

And around 50 on 60 % and if it makes too much noice. Lower the curvature a little bit

thorny helm
charred wedge
thorny helm
#

the temps go a bit up, and the performance mybe a little bit down, but it's quiet.

charred wedge
thorny helm
#

he probably doesn't really understand it, but we try to help.

charred wedge
#

Those are 1080 p pixel amounts

#

2560 *1440 = 3686400

#

1612800 difference in pixels it has to drive which is almost double the amount of work the gpu has to work on

vernal socket
#

Let’s make this a simple comparison. You saw a hot girl got excited for a split second and got red face. The symptom lasts for a few moments but it’s obvious to everyone around. Same thing with the gpu. It got excited with heavy work and got hot for a sec. Unlike the pc you don’t have a fan connect to your face every time a hot girl walks by and the fan turns on. We are not asking why it got hot. We are just observing

sick niche
#

so i should change the bios settings then?

#

or lower my apex settings?

#

the gpu just heated up to 80c and i was just in the lobby screen

thorny helm
#

how good is the airflow in you're case?

sick niche
#

4000d af

zealous bane
#

Yeah I've been running into t the same problem

thorny helm
sick niche
#

so what do i do?

thorny helm
#

change the fan curve.

sick niche
#

to what?

thorny helm
#

lower.

#

lower the fan curve, apply the settings and you have less noise randomly.

sick niche
#

the gpu keeps spiking randomly aswell

#

so the fans go up with it

thorny helm
#

that's normal.

#

it's comepletly common for a GPU to have performance, power and heat spikes.

sick niche
#

is it?

thorny helm
#

yeah.

sick niche
#

even if your not doing anything?

thorny helm
#

jep.

sick niche
#

so i shouldnt change anything then?

#

or still change the fan curve?

thorny helm
#

Iwould change the fan curve, if you don't like it, that you'r fans randomly go up and down again.

sick niche
#

yeah but they go up cuz the gpus temp spikes

charred wedge
#

How is your case flow ?

thorny helm
#

yeah, the temperature sensor is probably directly on the dye.

charred wedge
thorny helm
charred wedge
#

No answer could be fans pointing at the wrong direction

#

Need a picture for proof on that

thorny helm
#

yeah.

sick niche
#

fans are sucking air in the right direction

thorny helm
#

towards or away from the GPU?

#

can we have some pictures?

sick niche
#

3 front fans pulling air in, 1 back fan pulling air out and 2 top fans pulling air out

thorny helm
#

how dusty is your case?

#

the easiest way would be threw pictures

sick niche
#

its brand new

#

i swapped cases like a week ago

thorny helm
#

ok.

thorny helm
sick niche
thorny helm
#

ok, looks good.

#

is there something directly at the back side of the case where the GPu is at, that could block airflow?

sick niche
#

theres like 10 cm of space behind the pc

thorny helm
#

that should be enoguh.

sick niche
#

what could the issue be then?

#

do i need to have the monitor drivers?

#

cuz i dont

thorny helm
#

it's better, but without it's not bad.

sick niche
#

how much does overclocking on a monitor affect?

#

cuz without oc my monitor goes up to 144hz but with oc it goes to 165

thorny helm
#

only you're hz on the monitor, the temperature of the monitor and the power consumption off the monitor.

sick niche
#

so it doesnt affect the gpu

#

what is the problem then?

thorny helm
thorny helm
sick niche
thorny helm
#

I don't. Sorry.

this is the solution

the gpu still keeps spiking randomly

your fans getting noisy is literally them doing their job.
i had a friend who wouldnt play games on his $600 graphics card because it got noisy when he played games, i was unfortunately unable to convince him it was intended functionality. i hope you figure it out. the best you can do is tame it, it will always get noisy when it gets hot.
