If you want more speed get a ssd disk and install the OS on it. it’s a cheap upgrade.

And helps get your old system to be decent again for some browsing

He's likely referring to the drivers for his SATA disks. Device Manager always shows the basic driver that was authored for Vista in 2006.

Not Needed at all indeed old one is still working. Old doesn’t mean bad.
