#Computer is on, but monitor isn't showing anything

When I turn on the tower, the cpu and the case spin up, but then stop instantly as it loads. The GPU and Ram both light up with their respected colors but the monitor wont display anything. It only says HDMI 1 No Signal. Also, when i switch the HDMI ports, it makes the blinking blue light on the monitor stop blinking and hold a blue until "No Signal" and starts to blink again. I have the monitor on a different plug in than my tower as well so the power shouldn't be an issue

Im also using my old SSD from my first computer, so should i have deleted that data before doing anything?

Yes

#

You should do a clean install since there will most likely be driver conflicts

I do have an old laptop, would that work to erase the memory from the said ssd?

You don't do that from there

This method only works on Windows 10/11 PCs. Please ask for other methods if using a Mac, Linux, or earlier versions of Windows.

  1. Insert an 8GB or higher USB stick into your PC. Format the USB to FAT32 or exFAT before installation. Formatting will ERASE ALL DATA on the USB. (Right click the USB > Format > File System: FAT32 > Quick Format > Start.)
  2. Download the Windows MCT (Media Creation Tool) from the link above.
  3. Run the MCT. Select "Create installation media for another PC." Follow the prompts to select your USB flash drive as your media and create the installer.
  4. Once complete, your USB is now ready to install Windows on another PC. Power down that PC. Insert the USB installer. Boot the PC.
WARNING: When installing Windows on a new PC, ensure only one drive (the drive you want the OS on) is plugged in. Unplug all other drives prior to installing Windows.

Well deleting everything isn't a must, and I don't think it's the problem here
Like, are you even getting it to POST (=the monitor turns on and there's a logo or a wall of text)?

Well, if he's not even getting to the os at all, what do the drivers matter?

#

If there were driver issues it would at least show the POST screen

safe coral
#

Because eventually once they get it to post drivers will become a thing

torpid bane
#

Drivers the os doesn't need are just deactivated tho

thorny tangle
#

It doesnt even show a screen. Its just black

So i did what you told me and the display is still not work. Ive swapped hdmi cords, did the usb and the monitor is still not connecting to the tower

#

You can hear it physically click as well when you turn it on

thorny tangle
#

After taking apart and then reattached everything, i now found out that 2 of the motherboard pins are bent downward, and its of the gen 11 intel version

Ohhhh that board gave me so much hell. XD

thorny tangle
#

Lmao

lone bough
#

Doing a build for a customer, and the first board that I got had a crushed Type-C header that shorted out.

thorny tangle
#

That does not sound good

lone bough
#

Just get that MPG board I listed. It's solid and heavily discounted right now. I'm running it for a platform upgrade I did two weeks ago.

thorny tangle
#

Got it, thank you

spring flicker
#

the hdmi cable simply might be the issue. It's very easy to test at least and if it works, it saves you a lot of trouble

thorny tangle
spring flicker
#

so it's safe to say that's not the problem

#

noted.

thorny tangle
#

2 or so pins are bent on the mobo underneath the cpu

spring flicker
#

that is no good my friend

thorny tangle
#

Yep, that is most likely the problem with it

spring flicker
#

bent pins are a no no

lone bough
#

Again, try to straighten them out gently. You may fix it.

spring flicker
#

true, there is a chance

thorny tangle
#

I dont think thats possible with my shakeiness

#

But if, if there is anything else that could be causing it. Lets go through that since i got these parts last thursday

lone bough
#

Just be gentle and rest you hand on something solid. Let your fingers do the work.

spring flicker
#

good luck

thorny tangle
#

Will try to

#

2 or so bent pin cam really have an effect for not letting your computer work im seeing

lone bough
#

Yeah. Could be something like EPI or SMB pins or even PCIe lanes to the PCH.
