#Error while loading Reddit on certain DNSes

login to your front end and from the frontend's shell/ssh/console check to see if the dns resolves ... if it does then might be a firewall/gateway configuration issue
do other devices on the same network subnet and network pool resolve fine?
and out of curiosity are you using a VPN?
It works when I use a VPN
Um I'm not quite sure what all of that means tbh
I'm on a Google WiFi mesh
I've configured the DNS through their app
The mobile app works just fine but the browser version doesn't
I've tried all of my devices
Doesn't work on Windows, Linux, Android or MacOS
what ISP are you using?
do they utilize traffic shaping?
are you double natted?
Nope
its a computer, correct that cant access it, but you say mobile phone app works fine, correct?
Yea the browser version doesnt work regardless of the device but the app does
is your ISP modem.... a modem and router 2-in-1 combo?
Nah the modem was provided by the ISP
I have a TP Link Archer or smth to serve as the router
have you tried bypassing the mesh and just tried connecting through the TP link Archer to see if it works normal?
Yea that works
But that's only cuz I use the ISP's dns on there
If I switch that over to Google then it doesnt load either
even if you are directly connected to the TP link router and bypass the mesh?
If I switch the DNS over to cloudflare or google yeah
so cloudflare and google dns work fine with reddit if you bypass the mesh and connect directly to the TP link router?
Oh no they don't work even if I bypass the mesh
Only the ISP's DNS seems to work
what happens if you connect i directly to the ISP modem and bypass the TP link?
It would just redirect me to the support page I think
it shouldnt, it should work
thats your front end
if it still does it then your isp might be traffic shaping
Ohh
you should be able to access reddit with with any working DNS like cloudflare, google, isp dns, once you connect it directly to the isp modem.
Hmm that seems like a lot of setup
you have a mesh setup, its going to be alot of setup
the more complicated, the more of a setup
True
I'd have to call my ISP to access the modem itself I think
The fiber optic line comes in onto the roof of my house
connecting directly to the modem shouldnt be a hassle at all, its just plug the wire from PC to modem directly, should be easy
Oh its just that I'd have to take my security stuff offline
In that case I think I'll just live with my ISP's DNS
I ran the DNS benchmark and the ISP's DNS is only second to Cloudflare so I'd be better off going with that than Google anyway
Thanks a lot for the help!
yup, im sure its probably a setting you have somewhere, but without narrowing it down its hard to know in a mesh setup, so just easier to start at the front and work toward the backend in my opinion
Hmm yeah I just find it odd that this happened all of a sudden
but it involves times and effort to do all that which is up to you
auto firmware/app update most likely happened
I've been using this setup for a little over 3 years now and I've never had a problem with it until 3 days ago
Ah
also manually changing the dns in the network appliance to correctly suit your needs and have it assign properly is a better solution than using a app, the app is just another layer to complicate things even more. good luck if you ever decide to look into it more
