Friend computer just got assembled, won't boot, no/black display and green and yellow light constantly blinking. Boot+vga error. He has the new gen AMD, 5800x is this due to the outdated bios drivers for AMD am4 sockets? Does he need to flash his bio or is it something else

did you check the motherboard supports the 5800X series?

could be ! as in could be needed to flash , as in go to the motherboards website and check the version from which its supported

and hopefully you got a port which you could flash it with ( manual check it!)

Did all the "did you turn it on and off again" options already. Fans are on, cpu and gpu. Display is black, white and yellow "boot and vga" leds are blinking constantly. Asus rog strix b550 f gaming should be ryzen 5000 ready

best case after this is , upgrading your bios through usb

after this I would try to check each Ram slot

and move it around

And after that if nothing works, read the manual to see which usb port it needs to upgrade your bios and download from the Asus website the correct bios for your CPU.

It could be just a BIOS incompatibility

yes its 5000 Processor ready, but not all 5000 processors out of the box.

i know, and its just the ''fucking'' white and yellow light on the mobo blinking whilst everything is on. everything meaning gpu,cpu and fan cases are lighting up/fans spinning

im downloading the latest mobo bios on a usb stick and going to flash it myself. seems like the motherboard is recognising the CPU but unable to communicate with it

download the zip file, extract, run renamer, copy renamed bios to the flash drive, stick it in the mobo and press the the bios flashback button if it has it

b550 mobo's came out befor 5000 series cpu

having said that a much newer version of the same mobo would more likely have the bios updated to work with 5000 series

5000 ready does not mean all 5000 ready as they probably released more processors
