Thats going to be different measurement systems
mbps = megabits per second
MBs = megaBYTES per second
Bits are much smaller than Bytes, 150mbps ~= 18MB/s, so that's actually expected

#

And if you want to get more technical, MBs in Windows means MiB/s = Mibibytes a second, so

viscid tiger
#

so theres no issue

No, doesnt appear to be

viscid tiger
#

my download speed on steam is 18.3 mbs

#

is that the same as 180mbps

full thunder
#

You could go to steam settings and switch it to MB/s if you want to see it proper like that

full thunder
#

It is expected to be slightly lower on the drive, so yes, that is expected

viscid tiger
#

how do i do the steam settings thing

full thunder
#

Downloads at the bottom

#

Top right, gear

#

Uncheck this

viscid tiger
#

ahhhhh

#

ok

#

so i was kinda lossing my mind over nothing haha

full thunder
#

Yeah no worries, it happens
Having 3 different measuring systems with very similar names gets confusing 👍

i thought that my disc was limiting my download

#

and i was like what cause i ran a test and it showed that the speed on my disc was really fast

full thunder
#

Nope, just windows measures disk speed in much larger units than Network speed

#

Network is usually in Bits per Second, and Disks in windows are typically in Bibytes per second. Bytes are rarely used. I think Linus actually did a video on this imma see if I can find it

viscid tiger
#

i also have another question if i may ask.

do u know about a website called samknows? i watched a video about it and it shows the speed your internet box puts how compared to how much your pc receives. now i just ran one and it shows my box is putting out about 400mbps and my pc is only getting about 80. now i do use a wireless motherboard called the X570 Gaming Edge WiFi could it be that?

#

my box is just below my room im upstairs.

full thunder
#

Yeah Wireless always recieves slower

#

I have a 250mbps connection at my Demarc point, but I only get 100mbps to my PC

#

Ethernet would be your solution there

viscid tiger
#

yup do u know if those things u plug in the wall that u can put a ethernet cable in and use on pc will work fully.

#

i will try find a picture

#

something like that

full thunder
#

Yeah, they work well

#

Slight signal loss usually

#

But not as much as wifi

#

EoPs are a very helpful tool though, yes

viscid tiger
#

ok i may look in to one of those or my other solution will be putting a whole in my floor

full thunder
#

And obv it requires the wiring in your house to be able to handle that, but usually they are fine

viscid tiger
#

i see

#

well thank you so much for your help man i would be lost
