#[URGENT] PC won't boot up

So I got some new ram and installed it into my PC but I had to take out my Noctua CPU cooler in order to do that. The thing is, once I lifted my CPU cooler off, it also took the cpu with it.💀 Now... I've tried taking it out and putting it back in many times but it just won't boot up. ( I looked at the pins on the cpu and yes some were bent but that didn't really affect it before) Please help me.

Cpu is dunzo

Does your mother board give out a error code

stiff wagon
real tusk
#

A little tip for next time, twist the cpu cooler to break the thermal paste loose before trying to pull it off

cobalt trail
stiff wagon
#

What mother board do you have

cobalt trail
#

B550

real tusk
#

He means a light on the motherboard

cobalt trail
#

Light shows

real tusk
#

What brand motherboard is it?

stiff wagon
#

Describe

cobalt trail
#

Gigabyte

crystal zenith
#

fix the bent pins

stiff wagon
#

What is the light like

cobalt trail
#

I lied it's Asus

#

And it's orange

stiff wagon
#

Is it flashing

cobalt trail
#

No

real tusk
#

Post a picture

cobalt trail
#

Okay

stiff wagon
#

It is memory

cobalt trail
#

Might be

#

Mixing two different brands might be making it not boot up?

stiff wagon
#

Make sure you here a click

crystal zenith
cobalt trail
#

Not blinking

crystal zenith
#

um

#

could you get more light

stiff wagon
#

Ok try reseat the ram 1 at a time

cobalt trail
#

I'll try the ram

#

Even though my CPU cooler blocks it

stiff wagon
#

Hmmm try boot without cooler into bios but not for long

cobalt trail
#

Still dark?

crystal zenith
#

very

cobalt trail
#

😦

crystal zenith
#

do you not have a light on your phone you can use?

cobalt trail
#

The light eliminates the orange

crystal zenith
#

the orange isn't needed right now

cobalt trail
#

Oh

stiff wagon
#

Take a picture over the ram

#

With light

cobalt trail
#

Okay

#

I have to remove my CPU cooler to show the ram. One sec

stiff wagon
#

Ok

#

Make sure to unplug your system

real tusk
#

Dont just pull on it this time

cobalt trail
#

Okay

#

I just clicked the Corsair on the very left in fyi

#

So perhaps it was the ram

crystal zenith
#

mis matched ram

real tusk
#

Yeah, thats not good

cobalt trail
#

Someone said It would be fine

crystal zenith
#

are you running with an AMD cpu or intel?

cobalt trail
#

AMD

crystal zenith
#

yeah don't do this you should be using 2x8 or 2x16 if you need 32gb of ram not 4x8

cobalt trail
#

😦

crystal zenith
#

it will be far easier to xmp the ram as well

cobalt trail
#

But it will still boot up right?

#

I just clicked it into place

crystal zenith
#

yeah it should still boot

cobalt trail
#

Okay

#

Let me try

#

So, from next time, don't mix ram?

real tusk
#

yee

cobalt trail
#

Got it

crystal zenith
#

keep ram in pairs

#

if you need more capacity sell the old ones buy 2x16 and be done with it or 2x32 if needed

real tusk
#

I would remove one of the kits and keep it as a spare in case one of the sticks of the kit that you keep on the motherboard fails, or what was said above

cobalt trail
#

I'll probably replace them with 2x16 ballistix in the future

crystal zenith
#

what specific cpu do you have from AMD?

cobalt trail
#

5600x

crystal zenith
#

3200 speed ram at 2x16 cl16

cobalt trail
#

Okay

real tusk
#

Back to what we are here for, did the computer boot?

cobalt trail
#

Let's find out

#

.

real tusk
#

Any signs of life?

cobalt trail
#

No fans spinning or anything

#

Only the motherboard turns on

#

I didn't remove the ram

#

Just made sure they were in

real tusk
#

Make sure everything is plugged in and the switch on the psu is turned on

crystal zenith
#

only use one stick of ram

cobalt trail
#

Alright

crystal zenith
#

just to test to see if it posts

#

if it posts in slot 1 test in slot 2

#

so on and so forth

cobalt trail
#

Maybe switch the ram around as well?

real tusk
#

Do what was said above with all 4 sticks

cobalt trail
#

Okay

#

Does it matter which brand?

stiff wagon
#

No

crystal zenith
#

test with one stick in all four slots then switch to another stick

real tusk
#

If it posts the with the first stick on all 4, that eliminates the motherboard

crystal zenith
#

do the same with that one

real tusk
#

And leaves the ram as a prime suspect

cobalt trail
#

I can't get it out

#

One of the clips are stuck

real tusk
#

Push down on the stick, then try it

#

not too hard though

#

Wait, on some mother boards, only the top of the ram slots have the locks

cobalt trail
#

Indeed

real tusk
#

Im guessing you just found that out?

cobalt trail
#

My motherboard has that

real tusk
#

Ok

#

were you able to get that stick out?

cobalt trail
#

Testing now

#

Yes

real tusk
#

Ok

cobalt trail
#

First slot no

#

Second slot no

real tusk
#

Ok, try the other 3 sticks

cobalt trail
#

Third slot no

#

All of them don't work with the corsair

crystal zenith
#

fourth slot?

real tusk
#

If it doesn't do anything with the other 3 sticks, then it may be the motherboard, CPU, or all 4 sticks are toast

cobalt trail
#

Probably the cpu

#

Unless it's In wrong

real tusk
#

Theres only 1 way to install a CPU

cobalt trail
#

Triangle to triangle

#

What's a good alternative CPU

#

5600x

real tusk
#

yes

#

I wouldn't jump to conclusions yet

cobalt trail
#

I'll check the pins

#

For the power

real tusk
#

There are still a few other possibilities

crystal zenith
#

You should make sure no pins are bent

real tusk
#

Or broken off

#

Send a pic of the cpu pins

cobalt trail
#

Okay

real tusk
#

You have a bunch of bent pins

cobalt trail
#

🙂

real tusk
#

You could try to bend them back, but chances are that they will just break off

cobalt trail
#

About that CPU?

#

💀

real tusk
#

So yeah, you are better off just getting a new CPU

cobalt trail
#

My price range is $300

#

What would go good with my 6650 xt?

real tusk
#

What did you say this one was, a 5600x?

cobalt trail
#

Yes

crystal zenith
#

5600x is good if you have a microcenter or a bestbuy near you you can price match the 5700x at microcenter that iirc is 199

cobalt trail
#

Oh?

real tusk
#

Amazon price is $158 on sale

crystal zenith
#

Yeah price matching is great

cobalt trail
#

Not bad

crystal zenith
#

199 for 2 more cores and 4 more threads and faster base and boost clock its a no Brainer and will still be decent for 6650xt

#

Or even a 6700 gpu

cobalt trail
#

I guess I can go to best buy today

#

See if they have it in stock

crystal zenith
#

If you have a microcenter within 25 miles of you check the price on your phone for a 5700x and show it to the associate

#

If its still 199 I would take the deal if bestbuy will honor it

cobalt trail
#

Unfortunately I don't have a micro center where I live

crystal zenith
#

Check where the closest one is to you

#

As long as it's within 25 miles

cobalt trail
#

Closes one to me is 353 miles

#

"Close"

crystal zenith
#

Darn

#

Sorry

cobalt trail
#

It's alright

#

Ill have to check out best buy

crystal zenith
#

Yeah

cobalt trail
#

Thank you for the help both of you
