Using windows 7 on virtual box, and notice this weird artifacting after setting up guest additions. Any way to fix it?

Try switching to performance mode. I think if I recall correct its in advanced system settings this turns off all the transparency affect and other similar features. Do that reboot and let us knownn

Sometimes they do cause problems. How are you setting up the guest OS VM settings as it goes with the graphics card on your system?

I have guest additions. And 3D acceleration is on, giving the VM the max amount of VRAM.

I got it to work last night but I had to install updates and reboot the VM

Audio keeps going too.

Sadly my knowledge of this specific setup is now limited. I know we have to turn on performance mode for Win7 and other similar system (server or otherwise) guest systems because Aero causes too many issues. But also turning it off is just good practice. Look pretty is often not worth the cost to the system.

Some guy on a forum says to enable 3d accleration with virtual box VGA, but when I try and enable it, virtual box tells me it'll change the driver automatically.

Well I all partial to VMWare product. If you are a current active student they have good rates.

If not then get ready to put down a little bit more than you may want to but you will get a good product with good support.
