Hello I have a GTX 1080ti that I have been using for quite a while. Suddenly after a bootup the fans starts ramping up to 100% and it cannot be overridden in anyway possible. The temperatures are very low and completely healthy under load (under 50 degrees celcius). This just suddenly happened after normal use and I have not touched the gpu hardware nor software. I tried fixing it by removing drivers and reinstalling the same bios, despite that the fans only go to 0% right after I uninstalled the nvidia driver. Please help as this 100% fan speed is very disturbing noise wise. Thank you.

Have you used something like MSI Afterburner to adjust fan speeds?
yes
what about EVGA?
Have you tried a different vBIOS for the GPU?
i don’t think i can change my gpu fan in my bios
Completely different than the BIOS you're used to for cpu fan/overclock/xmp settings
You're correct, this is a different concept
how do i access my vbios
It's kinda like a driver update, it's not a GUI/screen you access
i always just download nvidia drivers how would i do that

Welcome to this tutorial!
In this short guide, I'll show you the surprisingly simple process of upgrading your GPU BIOS. It's a very simple thing to do and should only take you about 4 or 5 minutes. This guide covers the process of upgrading both Nvidia and AMD cards.
In this tutorial I will...
thank you
yep!
Small note - You don't need to stick with your brand of GPU for the bios version. Technically any vbios for the 1080ti will work. Just don't get one that raises the power ceiling beyond yours
Keep in mind this carries the same risk as a BIOS update. If your power goes out or computer crashes during the update, you may brick your GPU, so make sure to take precautions
i.e. not doing it during a storm, close all other programs, etc
No
okay thank you
ah, flashing your bios
how do i find the filename of my bios
pls
never flashed one so im gonna figure this out in a min
do a back up before flashing if it doesn't work
when i type in tyhe flash menu it closes
weird
Before flashing, backup the current graphics card BIOS with: nvflash --save backup.rom
To update the graphics card GPU VBIOS, use: nvflash bios.rom
narrowed it down for ya
ty
your welcome
ah I did try flashing same branded bios
it did not work but I will try diffrent branded bios later
thanks for the advice
Sure, this isn't a guaranteed solution, but if you've tried everything else, and know what you're doing, it's worth a shot
