.exe files downloading as blank files

Even after downloading java 4 times, my .jar files still download like this and are not .exe so i cannot open them. Does anyone know a fix?

You don't install optifine by double-clicking the .jar file, because it is not an executable. Follow this

installing java won't turn .jar files in to .exe files

you can technically run .jar files, but minecraft mods aren't meant to be ran as standalone programs

like minecraft is a jar file, minecraft.jar, the launcher runs that through java.exe

rip i tried that. It seems like they dont format as a actual java file or something? Even though i have java installed/

you aren't supposed to open it, it's meant to be opened by forge
