I thought windows shut down at 100

#

Anyway, check if your fans are working

#

Listen for them

#

Actually first check the warranty if you can, get it fixed by hp

#

But if fan not working open computer up and disconnect and reconnect fan cables

I reckon something funny's going on with your temp sensors or HWinfo, CPU's do not get that hot without force shutting down and I wouldn't expect it to be at 120c at 2.7 watts for any length of time

it is true, the second the windows bootloader exits firmware services, firmware is totally inactive

#

your firmware is software, no one prevents windows from destroying it

#

and using that memory for itself

#

your CPU has this thing called ACPI inside of it which controls power management, it's not firmware, but actual logic on silicon
