that's what I got.
finally got my monitors on desk clamp mounts, so i have the room to put a 15" deep mat on there.
ah, nice nice
š and i don't regret not getting the one from lttstore.com because i absolutely hate the northern lights design.
though im sure it's a great quality mat.
fair enough
I like the design but it realllly doesnt go with the theam of the reest of my setup
but the desk matt I want is out of stock and will be till q3 I think so
would love if linus sold some more designs for mats
that would be nice
I really like the shirt designs, and I'm actually waiting for my CPU shirt to come in the mail this week, would kill for some of those cool artsy computer component shirt designs were on a deskmat.
ah, I really liked there short circuit long sleeve design but they removed it š¦
I don't remember that one but I don't pay attention to long sleeve products any more since moving to florida.
also like their uhh, party shirt? think thats what they called it
oh yeah that one is super cool
ah yea fair enough
party shirt pattern would be sick on a desk mat actually.
heres a good keyboard question... low profile keyboards like the keychron ones with the low profile gateron switches
what kinds of keycaps can be used
do they have to be low profile despite the normal cherry stem?
prob not tbh
as long as you have enough space so that the caps dont hit the plate, you should be fine imo
dont think so, ive seen soe people use higher profile caps on lowprofiles
like I saw a guy using sa on the nuphy air 75
im going to send my friend some sample caps and see how they feel on his lp board
we'll see what happens! i'll post results for science.
alr lmao
Check the badseedtech mousepad review maybe ... that's about the only one I know that I've seen do something about mousepad ... maybe hardware canucks did some video too ... probably rocketjumpninja too
I don't like the northern light design either ... give me some dark gray or black and that's it
I don't care about long sleeves shirt either ... and it's not cause of the place I live, it's cause I hate wearing anything with long sleeves
Covered up the membrane trash
hnestly membrane is fine
preference
yeah
Keeping white key caps clean is so annoying
The slightest amount of dorito dust shows through so clearly
so stop eating doritoes in front of you keeb
What else am I suppost to eat while watching a movie
you watch movies on a monitor?
Then get a used under 100$ pc to use on the tv
bro get a firestick
or chormechast
there so cheap
why would u do that thats just a waste when firesticks exist
Or I could, yknow, watch movies like I normally do?
And not spend money on tech Iām probably not even gonna use
My pc isnāt loud
Plus I wear headphones
i mean it prolly inst if its water cooled
.
who watches with headphones š use speakers
Fire stick slow
Nah fan cooled
PC silent anyway
Cause it blocks out the noise
Background noise is annoying when watching movie
Not really no
Itās also a lot more convenient for me to just watch it on my pc
ur monitor has more than one inpuit roight
Cause I can just pause the movie if I need to do something like text a friend back on discord or look something up
Yeah?
Also
Your outlying another thing i can just do
Long hdmi cable, route over to tv, watch movie
š that ruins the imersion but u do u
Immersion?
Itās pausing a movie
Plus I have a second monitor
So I can just slide discord over to the second screen and keep watching
damn
Fire stick 40 dollars
Iād rather do something useful with that money instead of paying for something I can already do
Plus streaming on Ethernet is a lot better than my WiFi
I don't have any problem streaming with my wifi
if you have a sffpc you can move it to ur living room and plug an hdmi/displayport cabl from ur gpu to ur tv
Itās hard to stream 4K on WiFi thats slower than trying to ride a radio flyer kids Tesla through a barrels amount of sticky syrup
Long hdmi cable
?
You take a very long hdmi cable and you plug it into the pc then route it over to your living room and plug it into ole reliable
PC is kind of a must on tv for me
ok
for me firestick is good plus the remote has alexa which is rlly good for seardhing
If you had to buy 3 keyboards: budget, midrange and overkill, what would they be?
prolly some keychron or akko board, keychron q1, no idea. probably one of those owl labs boards that had the mouse scroll wheel, cant remember what its called
Hhkb, moon tkl/jane v2, that one kingsaver that had neons a few years back
qk65, glacier80, otd 356CL
qk65 mountain everest keycult
Im so excited for R2 of the QK65 later this month
it's gonna be replacing my KBD67 Lite
nicee
any recommendations for 96 % pcb?
should I buy the Keychron K6 ?
what are your requirements in a board?
like what features do you want
TKL-60%, german layout, red switches (or similar ones, switches r not the priority)
You could also take a look at an akko board
But the keychron k6 is pretty nice, definitely would recommend getting the aluminum version tho
will do! thanks
Np
Oh my god the keycaps with the stabalizer things i cant get them on properly on my laptop keyboard
my tab and caps key now feel weird
OH my god
nice
mhm
basically my requirements for a keyboard need to include an aluminum case
i can't go back to any other material it's too late
96% isnāt really standardized like 60% so I doubt youād find anything that doesnāt have a specific case in mind
But thereās some 96% options available and coming soon
layout? budget?
oh no, i was just saying that
that said, portal65 case any good
thinking of that for the third build
its a gummy o ring board
cant see anything special
you might really like the desgin
and look
Iāve heard the portal isnāt great
But if you like how it looks, well itās your money
Oh yeah the blocker is full height so the oring mount it scuffed
What are the difference between black, red, and brown keyboard switches? And which ones would you guys recommend to use?
what keyboard are you looking at?
all prevenance there is no best.
I like the ones with the satisfying sounds, I guess I'll go with a blue switch
Ty for the help
sound is once again preference, just note the blue switch isnt a switch used in "satisfying" builds
it produces a click sound which most people find too loud and annoying
what a good middle ground?
you want the tactile feel but no click?
I think I just want a smooth keyboard that sounds good but isn't too annoying
the 60% one
well if you're asking what swiches to get you must be looking at a keyboard no?
I just wanna know like keychron k6/q2, akko, durgod, ect
I just found some 40$ keyboard from some website
ok then its not gonna sound good just pick a switch that you think will feel good
When you have 1-2 keyboards laying around lol
lmao thats what my closes looks like
Iāve got these laying around Iām giving them away at an event Iām hosting
Nice
Hey all. I recently bought a Keychron K10 for work and I'm looking for a case to slip it into. Nothing fancy, just something that closes (i.e. no slip case). If it's hard shell, great. If not, great. Price point is sub $50 US. Rough dimensions are 17" long by 6" deep by 1.5" tall. Anyone have a recommendation? Thank you in advance.
i wanna transition out of razer keyboards what would be the most similar switch to a razer optical
which optical switch is it?
the red linear or purple clicky?
first of all you dont want simmilar switches to razer switches
they suck
also dont recommend optical
they feel and sound worse then mechanical switches
Optical are also really limited when it comes to diversity
true
but in terms of operating force and such the optical reds are probably similar to like a speed silver in terms of weight and actuation, although i'd recommend something like a gateron milky yellow just cuz i prefer the sound the housings make. And then I guess the purples would be relatively close to a box jade maybe at 5g heavier operating
I think KBD Fans sells gateron reds in a milky housing which would be the same weight as the razer optical reds but with a deeper actuation
purple
Do you like the sound or the feel
Yeah clicky switches are typically the least preferred switch in the keyboard community. Box Jades look like they are a pretty similar switch to the purples.
But if you wanted to go for a similar feel whilst not having that clicking sound every time the switch actuates you would open up options in the tactile switch arena
which are pretty much just clickys but without the actual click noise produced on actuation, you still get that bump when the switch actuates
box jades are best clicky but if u like the feel w/o the obnoxious (to some) sound then box navy is solid
very tactile switch without being clicky
does keychron have one? they have travel cases for alot of there boards
how much is cheap?
take a look at the royal kludge 61
if you could boost you budget I'd recommend this https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k12-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=39299048243289
Keychron | Wireless Mechanical Keyboards for Mac, Windows and Android
Keychron K12 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. 60% Layout. Wireless or Wired. and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Keychron Optical, Gateron Mechanical or Keychron Mechanical Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
I dont own one, but I haven t heard of anyone having issues with it
right
alr, was just throwing it out there
Box navy is a clicky switch
probably meant box royal
Yeah was about to say
My bad meant royal
tf š
I liked the royal
Headset : cooler master mh751, hyper x cloud II, sennheiser pc37x/pc38x
Those are about the best you can get ... if you want better then get a headphone and a separate microphone
Refer to audio section for recommendations about that
they can be
but not really, you can get a decent one for like 40$
correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure this is a pretty good mic:
The Blue Snowball iCE plug 'n play USB mic is the fastest, easiest way to get high-quality sound for recording and streaming. Its custom cardioid condenser capsule delivers crystal-clear audio quality thatās light-years ahead of your built-in computer microphone. With an eye-catching retro design...
not really when you know where to look
damn
admission price?
one of my coworkers just got this
the keys are super small
if you have big hands, not recommended.
no? they're the same as every other mechanical keyboard
no its not lol. im sitting here typing on my mechanical keyboard and have 3 other mechanical keyboards.
the key spacing is like half the normal distance.
its REALLY odd to type on them.
I have 6 mechnical keyboard its the exact same
Alienware AW510K is lovely
k, not going to argue. just speaking my experience from using that compared to 2 different corsairs, 1 das and one razer blackwidow
Right, never seen a keyby with different spacing unless it a different layout, all should be the same
look the same to me
im just telling you its different lol
i bought one to use at work because i liked his, but its 100% different.
i just got the one with the numpad
his was the exact one you linked.
right
id put them right next to each other
but i dropped it off at work an hour ago.
and brought my corsair home
idk other then the layout of the keyboard it should all be the same, k12 just uses some differnt caps I think
because it wasnt exactly professional looking in my office
well right now im using my blackwidow
the razer and the corsair feel both exactly the same in spacing
the keychron felt completely different
im not saying its worse, im just saying the finger travel difference when typing was noticable
its not a specifically better or worse configuration, and ill be fine on it once i get used to it
but i went from 110wpm down to 60 on his keyboard when i tested his before i bought it
so ymmv
I see
1U is 1U tho ... the profile of the keycap might change the surface where you put your finger and that might feel different
na. it wasnt that
it was like an actual difference in spacing of the tops of the keys
when I go to one profile to another it feels different and also my wpm change
like they were mushed in
and i can go generally from one keyboard to another
without any difference in speed
the keychron though
made me feel like an absolute idiot
i was making so many typos it was embarassing
as i said, ill probably get used to it after a few days
but i went from being a rather good typist
If you really dont like it you can replace the keycaps
to having to hunt-and-peck in an instant
haha
eh, ill just get used to it probably, im just giving a kind of disclaimer for anyone that buys that keyboard
it will fuck up your ability to type until you get used to it
same as when going from sa to xda or dsa
I don't think it "will" fuck up your ability to type for everyone. That's something you personally experienced (not that your the only one) but I don't think it's fair to say that everyone coming from an oem board to a keychron won't be able to type
its more akin of going from qwerty to dvorak
in terms of how bad i suddenly started typing hahaha
as i said, i raaaaarely have an issue touch typing
even going to brand new keyboards
That's a whole new layout though, off your gonna make mistakes for abit
this was the first time i just completely was like "i have no idea whats going on"
Yes but that's not going to happen to everyone, I went from a lowprofile g915 with flat keycaps to a fairly high keychron Q1 with OEM profile keycaps and didn't experience any issues
thus "ymmv"
also hand size can matter
im a big boi at 186cm, and my hands are proportionate.
It just depend on how you type, I've heard of people going from 120wpm to 70 jsut cause they went from a full size kB to a tkl, nothing changed except the numberpad is gone now
Free but itās an invitational extreme overclocking event that I got gigabyte to sponsor
sheeeeesh
anyone know if I can use any 4 pin cable for making my own custom USB cable?
trying to find products on AliExpress that can be used to make my own custom keyboard cable, instead of the insanely expensive ones sold from other creators (I do get they are hand crafted, and thus making them pretty expensive, but I want to make my own because it interests me and I save money in the process)
didnt ltt do a video on that not too long ago?
im pretty sure they did, they minght have listed where they got the supplies
hmm, I'll see if I can find the video
hardware store? kinda the only place that comes to mind, but they prolly wouldnt have anything small enough
seems it was mostly targetted for PSU cables
AliExpress should have just about anything you need, all from shit to good quality
the problem is just to know what to look for
the videos I watched, bought some USB cable and cut off the connectors
they did one psu cable and one usb
ahh, nice, I'm watching it right now
and it looks like they showed the tools and materials needed
yea jsut use the time stamps, looks like they showed everyhting I think
doesn't seem they show the exact product they buy, they just link to general preassembled USB cables on amazon, best buy, and newegg
is there anything special about these 28 AWG data line wires?
like modflex or what ever they called it
that's like a cable sleeve, to make them look nice, it seems
no worries
uhm I found this? https://cruzctrl.gg/products/diy-usb-cable-kit

yeah, I found that too from one of the videos I watched
ah
it's not expensive, but it's also not just right for me, as I might be making quite a few cable combinations
right
I want to mount one of these GX20 aviator connectors in my desk š (actually 2, one for mouse and one for keyboard)
like this one
maybe not that big, but just to show my idea
the mouse is a really neat idea
so I could cut out a hole in my desk and recess one of the connectors in there
yea, thats a really neat idea
so instead of going wireless or cables going across desk, I get them just in front of where I have them
yea'
also dumb easy to swap between keyboards/mouses using USB-C or micro-USB
lmao yea
or if you feel like today is a red cable day, you go with red cable š
yeah, ethernet cable transfers data too, so should be fine... although from what I can tell, it doesn't really matter as long as you get a cable with 4 wires, and they are capable of delivering the power they need to transfer the data as well as power the device
right
ah, fair enough
https://www.digikey.com/ found this site though, might have something
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1368835-we-tried-building-our-own-cables/, one of the first comments on this mentioned that site
Linus Tech Tips

oh yea digikey has lots of stuff
USB Cable. USB cable has four conductors, two for power and two for data. The data wires are 28 AWG, the power wires are 20 to 28 AWG.
ahh nice
so it's quite literally just 4 cables, 2 20-28AWG + 2 28AWG
yea
so I can go buy these wires separately, and combine them myself into 4 wires and solder them on to the connectors
first cable will be expensive, considering I need some tools, but from there on out, it should be pretty cheap
aliexpress.com
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
yea
simple as buying something like this, I may as well use 28awg for all 4 I think
oh nvm
20awg is better for longer runs (higher number means thinner cable as far as I can tell)
ah, good to know
But it is not only about the AWG. USB cables are supposed to have 90Ohm impedance, and ethernet 100. The impedance mismatch could be a problem for long cables, especially if you use it as an extension to another regular 90Ohm USB cable. USB High Speed will be more sensitive to this than Full Speed.
this is also probably worth knowing
ah ok
https://www.renesas.com/us/en/application/key-technology/usb-technology/usb1-2 another source of info with some specs (idk where to find the official USB 2.0 spec, or if it's gonna be understandable for a noob like me š )
some switch work?
same, but I'll hold off until I have the money to go buy what I need to make what I really want
it's worth it, but you should probably expect to have to do it a few times for best possible outcome
never messed with custom keyboard stuff myself, but seen and read a little about it
I'm just wondering which spring I'll use
it doesn't seem very complicated, but it sure is time consuming and tedious
yeah, that mostly boils down to preference afaik
though I reckon there will be some compatibility questions as well
I havnet had issues spring swapping
The spring set came with the switches
should be fine if they came with
So there won't be compatibility problem for sure
longer spring = more resistance
well, not really that simple tbf
depends on the spring too
Well not in that case ... the longer ones are lighter
But the longer have a faster return
Stock are 55g actuation and 67g bottom out, long are 58g overall
They feels lighter
ah
So here's some tape foam ... large and small gap ... which way does it go ?
That way or the other way ?
Or do I just cut the fingers ?
thats for under the stab right?
did that come with the board?
to me it looks like they're made for screw in stabs. the large gaps goes towards the clip of the stab and the smaller gap goes towards the screw of the stab but those are clip in stabs so im ont to sure
hmm yea im not sure, neither way looks more correct the other
my best guess is large gap to the south, since the mechanism of the stab is there
I would say the contrary cause we want the mechanism to hit the most foam possible ... maybe
right, yea that would make more sense
So I removed the lube that was on the pcb with isopropyl alcohol 99% and then wiped it clean
Now to put the stab back in ... won't be easy cause of the foam between plate and pcb
Ok done
So the annoying sound of the spacebar was not coming from the stabs hitting the pcb
what sound is it producing?
Plasticky loud tick when bottoming
is the wire stright?
Looked like it ...
Yes like a whole lot of lube and everywhere
it's either the switch bottoming resonating in the spacebar or the spacebar hitting the top housing
have you tried another switch?
Stock jelly purple, carrot and purple panda
hmm
I'll try the silent box brown
Sound is a bit deeper with the stock jelly purple
The bottoming sound is gone with the silent box brown... only hearing some topping up sound coming from the stabs getting back into place
I don't have that here stock
ah
Strangely ... I'll try an oring
that could work
Well the ones that came with the tecsee switches are way too thin
mm
I'll try the rosewill ones
Like about double the thickness
And really hard
Well it works half as well as he silent box brown switches
ah
better that stock ig
or maybe I'll "overlube" the spacebar switch
ah yea
i've heard they're quite nice
well better than when it was stock with the carrot ... but not better than with the stock jelly purple
ah I see
also I usually don't like linear switches ... but damn the carrot are so nice to type on ... I'm not really missing the bump at all
I find the carrot nicer than the purple panda
dang, I might have to try it, but idk. I use quite heavy tactiles
which one do you use ?
how heavy are they ?
and also I think it's the bottoming force that I like on the carrot ...
ig they're not the heavyest, kenetic labs penguins with a 67gram sping, not sure what the peak force is though
I think that tactile force matters more than spring for tactile switches ...
or at least a lighter spring in a tactile switch is not as bad as in a linear switch ...
its abit heavier than an ergo clear for tactile force
how does holy panda switches compare to brown?
like the lavender purple spring is light-ish ... and in the purple jelly is heavier ... but the tactile force is the same ... the lavender purple feels nicer ... a lot
not ever close to the same
those are supposed to be miles appart ...
brown barely have a tactile bump, light spring and feels scratchy ...
panda are way more tactile, supposed to be way smoother
how are holy pandas for typing?
ah yea, thats fair
personally dont like them
like the gateron yellow are way too light for me to type on ... even with 60g bottom force ...
I hate red, too light, blue too clicky, brown pretty nice (haven't tried anything else)
ah, yea those are what i have and I cant stand them
same ... and the same for cherry reds
going form a brown to a holy panda is a big jump in tactile force
yea, over hyped
what would you recommend for typing?
there's similar or better swithces for lower price
the switch you like
there's not switches made for typing more than others
right now I have a Ducky One2 Mini with brown switches, I have a One2 TKL with brown switches as well, but they feel different still
which brands are in there ?
Cherry MX
I know ducky use cherry a lot ... but they might have used other brand
its all preferance but if you like browns and want more tactile feedback you could try a ergo clear "clone" switch
they might have used gateron, if you take a keycap off it should say a company name on the top of the switch
hmm, will put it on my list of things to check out
bit hard to tell, but quite sure it says Cherry
or kailh ... kailh brown do feel good ... way better than cherry
afaik I've tried both Gatreon and Cherry, but not Kailh
smoother, heavier spring and tactile force
what's the main benefit of lubing the switches?
smoother
boba u4t is also good tactile
hmm ok
change the feeling and the sound too
ahh nice
probably one of the best from what I heard
so perhaps I can stick with brown, but go for kailh, a custom keyboard case, PCB, and some proper sound dampening etc
have yet to try them
agian would be a big jump in tactile force tho, arnt they quite heavy?
don't mind heavy I guess
kailh brown are not worth getting unless they come with a soldered board ... like the rosewill board my gf got ... really solid board
not really u4ts are only 62g but you can get them in 68g i think
I would go for akko lavender purple or kailh box burnt orange depending of the kind of tactile bump you want ...
ahh, cba with more soldered boards ngl
iirc switches aren't insanely expensive, so I could get two different ones and see how they feel š
$100 would cover an entire keyboard iirc (depending on which switch you get that is)
lavender purple have a sharp bump
box burnt orange have a long rounded bump
yea
halo true are also big rounded bump and feels nice
Sorry for the late response. They have them for almost all of their keyboards except the K10.
rounded sounds nice
convenient, have you looked on amazon?
about all I got
U can pick and choose a bunch of different switches to try and find your preference here
(I think thats the right link)
thanks, I'll check it out! š
I have, but I was hoping someone might have a suggestion. There are a couple that look good though.
if you like of the look of it yea
also give more mass
do you even see it? isn't it just sitting below your switches and keycaps?
nope, its on the bottom
hmm, will have to do some research
have anyone had a custom PCB and case made before?
by anyone, I mean in here
I'm asking because I'm curious where I'd go to find someone to produce the parts for me, if I wanted custom form factor for whatever reason
ugh, what a mess it is to piece together the information/part list I need to build custom USB cables š
I stick with hotswap barebones
yea sane

Instead of aviator you could also use mini xlr
Amphenol makes a nice chassis mounted female
Or if you want something larger and sturdier standard xlr would also work
is that an aliexpress store?
Amphenol is an Australian company
ah
You can't really find them on ali
You'd have to buy from mouser etc
There are two stores on Ali that carry neutrik though
looking for something in that sort of style/quality
not all these cheap dodgy plastic things you find on all the average cheap budget cables at your local hw store
The one I linked is better outside of aesthetics although I think it'll look alot nicer once you get some heatshrink on there
Something like the one you want is pretty much impossible to find unless you get an oem to custom make it for you
yeah, but finding someone to do that is difficult
presumably wouldn't be very cheap either
Yeah you'd have to order in bulk
how big of a bulk generally? thousands or hundreds?
if hundreds, that would be fine for me lol
but thousands, would be insanely expensive, unless I were to start selling cables š
this plastic casing isn't like really really bad
but it should be possible to find some in aluminum or something? not necessarily the style CableMod use, but something that isn't very bulky, and decent looking
seems Alibaba would be the place to go to locate an OEM that can produce for me, but generally would require a bulk order of like hundreds or thousands š
so we're probably speaking at least 4 digit numbers or more
use shrink tube
yeah, guess I could do that as well
would probably look pretty decent
and not be particularly bulky either
this store had some that looks pretty nice
but most of them are a little too bulky for what I want
other than that, I found some stuff in Alibaba, but them requiring bulk orders of like 1000 units etc, makes it not so ideal, unless I start my own store š

damn, this sounds pretty damn good
makes me want to try it out to see if it is as good as it sounds
sound tests aren't an accurate measure of a keyboards sound
dont think a keyboard sounds good in your setup because your heard it sounded good in some other person's setup
yeah, it also would depend on me getting the exact same parts, provided the mic and environment the keyboard was recorded in was 1:1 with how it actually is irl
yeah
but it sounded pretty smooth
yeah
nobody can tell if it's EQ or not ...
sound is all preference, I personally dont really like that if im being honest
should i glue my stabalizers on my laptop keyboard
the metal clip that holds them broke off
ill be using super glue
i really need an answer
im not sure how to fix that sorry
Need recommendations for soldering iron/station ... want something good that I won't struggle with. Under 100$ cad if possible, can go a bit higher if it's the best thing ever.
do you care if its gas or electric?
Electric please
Pinecil
ah, I've never used a good electric soldering iron so I dont really have any suggestions sorry
Ts100 ?
Thanx a lot
whys it so cheap?
No idea ... but if it's good then why not
I have like a 10$ cad one from canadian tire or something like that ... not working well at all
Because you're buying straight from the manufacturer
oh yea those ones kinda suck\
ah I see
you can swap tips if required
Yes I've seen a bundle of tips for sale on their site
Its good you need a 65w charger usb c
Yea, actually been looking into it. might get one myself lmao, looks really nice
hi guys, im in search of a wireless mechanical keyboard both for typing and gaming (so possibly with low latency).
i dont need rgb, backlight is optional, and my budget is 100 euros: can you give me some tech tips about it? Thanks!
thanks! what about a wireless gaming mouse? i can change thread if this is the wrong one
same as before, in no need of rgb
g305 maybe
model O wireless maybe
thanks! ill check them!
xtrfy zr1 wireless when it comes out maybe
i think ill go with the g305, it's under 40 bucks in my country atm
what about epomaker as a brand? im seeing a lot of youtube videos about them
There's lots of wireless mice, just go take a look, Logitech has some nice ones, razer is alr, glorious has some nice lighter mice
They're ok, nothing special
Oh
im seeing the epomaker sk96s, but it has no dongle and supports only bluetooth, i'd like a 2.4ghz dongle for latency
im going to check akko now
I've heard these are quite good

overbudget, rip
Oh yea they're abit more than I thought they were
Royal kludge 61 is wireleew
And cheap
Nj 80 is pretty good but it might only come in a barebones kit
uuuuh yes, is the brand good? i'd prefer a 96/full size
not a problem, i can tinker
Yea
Some of there baords are good and others not so much, but the rk61 specifically is good
https://rkgamingstore.com/products/rk96-96-layout-mechanical-gaming-keyboard what about this one?
RKgaming
RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK96 90% Triple Mode BT5.0/2.4G/USB-C Hot-Swappable Mechanical Keyboard with Number Pad & Magnetic Hand Rest. This wireless mechanical keyboard is armed with 2 built-in USB pass-through ports and 1 Type-C Port, allowing to back up more facilities, like a mouse or a headphone.
Ah, yea look at akko. I don't think any of the other baords/brands I mentions have full size boards worth getting
Google it see if there's any reviews. It's description looks promising but the board it's self looks kinda cheap. I'd personally opt for an akko
i heard some ppl say that the akko mod-003 isnt in stock
ill search better on akko website then, they dont have filtersš¢
preferred color?
it is not
dont care too much about it, if its cool ill buy it
i was comparing akko switches, because now im on a cheap af blue switch from huano, i think (if you search it you cant find keyboard switch from them lol)
i was watching it, comparing jelly blue and jelly pink
alr
do you want a tactile switch or a linear
i dont know, as now im stuck with this blue which i pretty like, but the sound headphones off is awful, i'd like something more quiet
once i tried i think the huntsman elite and i liked it very much
tactile would be closer in feel to the blue switches, but wouldnt have the loud audible click
not a problem, i see the huntsman elite uses opto-mechanical, what can i translate that switch to in mechanical terms?
i dont remember too much about them, only that i pretty much loved them
it was most likely linear
ok, then ill go with jelly pink, thanks a lot guys!
np glad to help
kinda late, and someone already recommended something, but I was also recommended this:
http://www.miniware.com.cn/product/ts100-soldering-iron-b2-tip-hot-air-soldering-station/
though I have no idea if it's good, as I've never personally used it... I asked for recommendations for a soldering iron that is suitable for soldering small stuff, such as USB connectors, so guess this will be an alternative solution
I would look up reviews on each of the irons you got recommended, and make a final decision based on your impression after that
I have a ts100 its quite good, i think nowadays there is at least one competitor which has a dock/iron kinda design, but I love the ts100
https://www.banggood.com/12-in-1-OLED-Programable-Soldering-Iron-Station-Kit-with-9pcs-Tips-1Pce-XT60-Cable-1Pce-Solder-Iron-p-1256069.html?imageAb=2&utm_campaign=BestToolLocker_October&utm_content=2635&p=KR28032004379201507P&akmClientCountry=America&cur_warehouse=CN
This with a compatible laptop charger to power it would be super nice
Oh i guess that one doesnt sell anymore
Is 60w too much for a pcb ?
60w is the power dissipation of the product, not the temperature lmao
Just stay at 350c
Are browns or reds better
preference
how long does akko take to restock normally?
I think the pinecil is better from what iv'e seen
what board are you looking at
60w is just the power, some of them like the pinecil and ts100p have adjustable temperatures
shouldnt have to worry about burrning the pcb
I know it's not the temperature ... but the one I was looking for was 60W, 950 F and that's it
if its not adustible 510c might be getting alittle hot for a pcb
from what i know in terms of soldering you need atleast enough temperature to melt the solder wire
but me being me and following what keyboard youtubers use i use like 280c
mhm
Yeah 300-350 max is usually what you want
yea
esp for keeb
Black&Gold 3098B with jelly pink
ah, I've never shopped with akko before but I would think they're fairly quick at reastocking? not sure tho
do you think that if i place an order it will restock? or maybe they wait for relatively big orders
can you place orders while its out of stock?
maybe cause im on the en site

thanks, ill check
oh there's an italian one too, how great
ill check them out, i'd like a medium travel distance with some weight on it
like 45-50g i think
idk the weights off the top of my head
I think the pink is lighter? but look for your self
yep, thanks for the tip!
Anybody here got the Corsair K70 PRO (new one)? I'm looking to maybe buy it but I want to hear other people's thoughts first.
others here are just going to recommend you a typist's choice
corsair make shit keyboards. and most of everyone here is an enthusiast and gonna tell you its shit
Besides Corsair makes kbs only with linear switch options mostly
I believe the K70 Pro is the same, they got rid of the tactile and clicky options
Nah I want brown probably
on the original K70
tactile is supposed to be in itself a clicky but quiet
razer green switches now :|
was a mistake
"quiet" can also depend on the build material of the keyboard, Corsair putting linears on an aluminium board turned the whole matter into a snowstorm in dB
ah ok
the reason I ask about them specifically is I like the software and they seem to be good quality with everything else at least
You probably can find it on amazon
Tactile is clearly not a clicky
If you are tied to the ecosystem then yes ... get the keyboard that fit with the ecosystem ... otherwise don't get a gaming keyboard from a big brand ... you can have better than that for the same price
or sometimes cheaper
K70 is hardly gonna solve ur problems if you want quietness. though there wont be a distinct "click" like in greens it will still be very loud as corsair's build quality isnt very good but u do u
corsair has good build quality, but always aluminum top plate
I beg the differ on build quility
their K95 Platinum pinging should teach them a lesson
build quality wasnt the right term i think
yea it seems so
just bad design
more so, choice of material
yeah
honestly I wouldn't mind touching artificial grass if that could be applied to the top plate which would cancel out resonance because it'd insulate the sound waves
if the layer was thick enough
any pinging on those would be less than here
I can currently hear it with headphones on
why cant people stop using gamer keyboards and switch to customs
u can get a custom for the price of a k95 platinum
because its gaming and also they're better and also they have rgb. who would spend that much on a keyboard that doesnt even have gaming switches
shutup pyro
chill alr I'm not commenting on audio tech, we're cool
besides its facts, for most dedicated typists keyboards vs gaming
just cope with standard length switches
Any recommendation for a wired and wireless mechanical keyboard?
preferably with ITA layout
Also 100%
misinformed and ignorant "facts"
KEKW
Tell me what esports tournaments keyboard is that of a typists
Donāt get me started on audio because I know the official headset of the LoL global champs is an audiophile ANC
LOL
you really think pros care about what keyboards they use?
they just use keyboards from the sponsor of the tourney or ones they personally brought
there is no relation to whether the keyboard used is a "gaming" one or not
this is also oftentimes the case for the keyboards they use at home
the sponsors send them the keyboard and they use it
Any alternatives to holee mod? Bandaids always doesn't stick even wiping bone dry stabs
So i've been playing with a logitech mx keys for a long time but want to return to mechanical switches, i've gotten so used to the short travel time and low profile from my current keyboard.
Any advice on someone like me could grab as a new keyboard?
Pro's don't buy keyboards.. they get sent them by their sponsors. š
for ita layout you will want ISO
you can also get TKL + numpad separate
You can get the keychron K8 with hotswap if you are into modding
and for numpad u can get some random wireless numpad from amazon
I don't like having a separate numpad
well there isnt many good options unless you go 1800
and yet still that isnt full 100% but does have the stuff that a 100% would
akko might have somthing
Why is this a thing
because gamers dont touch grass, haha so funny and origonal
I want one made from hair
like that?
Yes
Because gross
good point

Armpit hair?
uhg now I cant un imagine that
Unwashed
āNow also with smellā
Keyboard that isnāt just sound and feel, it is also smell
Probably
200$ each, enough will buy it as a joke
Tho likely more like 50000$
The cost of enough body hair to cover all of it is alot
Probably not to hard
you figure?
Go to barbershop or smth, could probably just ask to send 1kg for [insert price]
yea maybe
Tho the manual labor needed to sort consistent smell and color would be even worse
Probably costs multiple millions
Would you work there?
yea good luck with that
Sorting single hairs by smelling and looking at color
I dont have sense of smell and it would prolly pay pretty good and requir basically no knowledge other than knowing colors and being able to keep your self mentally stable. Im down lmfao
80% of the costs would be therapy for employees I imagine
yea probably, that would be so mind dumbing
I can only imagine the sight of a factory of thousands of people just smelling hair 24/7
amazing sight
This has gotten out of hand tho
indeed lmao
not just sound and feel, its the pleasure or enjoyment
i want to break every keyboard at my school in the IT department because they are so crap
Burn them in a way that makes it look like they broke by themselves
Until they buy ultra high end
Free grip pads for keycaps too
āNever have a finger slide off againā
Go to the morgue
since their bodies are pretty expensive, your selling price of human hair covered kbs will compensate
Although Iād hate to think what would happen if static electricity built up š
what are your guys thoughts on this blank mechanical keyboard?
I dont like the board but the caps look fine
for like $150, is it worth it?
I haven theard of that board and dont know anythouhg about it but based on looks I'd say no
fair enough
have you looked at keychron or akko?
they make really nice boards, if black caps are a must have you get gat a set on amazon probably
Das Keyboard
advertised on the MonkeyType website before
its a typist's keyboard, plus RGB + media keys
oh i c
I can tell you its not one of my propaganda based keebs as mxi would say, because I don't know much more than that
but it seems MonkeyType might have a partnership with them of some sort
ahh yes, make the school buy 30 black OTD 356CLs

I still wonder, why are all videos I find on keyboard from there
not channel wise, but country
95% of those I find are from like 3 countries near each other
because the americans are too focused on mice
Optimum Tech for example
oh, and monitors and GPUs and CPUs
keyboard sound tests for one, I haven't seen that as separate videos (i,e,. not part of reviews) from any particularly popular tech channels on YT, only small youtubers
Koreans were the original keyboard enthusiasts, also they have an editing style and aesthetic that all the zoomers go crazy for
well in any case a tech channel dedicated to keyboards I've only seen Asian ones tbf
I can think of a few that sort of are and aren't asian, tho I would call them a meme channel
tho its the same with many things, like any hobby store at all, about all of them are around there
keyboards, audio, etc
tho for those its usually not korea
most you see around here are like a backyard pop up
Eh I donāt see how asians are suddenly perceived as nerdy in mathematics, since aside from Terrance Tao there havenāt been any other genuises in the department which are Asian
At least those of which are known
But ig numerals has to do with binary, binary has to do with computers, binary is inputted through a keyboard so ānaturallyā Asians are keyboard enthusiasts
They don't seem nerdy to me
just seems like all the high end stuff on technology is region locked
(as well as the one genre MMORPG)
most you find here is a bunch of huge brands, and the rest coming either from asia directly, or some random webshops scattered across countries like Germany and UK
tho usually that's like 1 website for every 20 you would find in the east
but like, Europe has the least between America, Europe and Asia
for PC peripherals, you've got steelseries, logitech, trust and corsair, online you find the rest like ROG and MSI then for audio, sony, bose, apple, samsung that's about it
Sennheiser doesn't exist in NZ
I know that
nor does Beyerdynamic

Cooler Master, their cases aren't popular
cases, gpus, etc aren't even sold here
online they are
but most you find in store is like a GTX 1050 TI gigabyte imported at like 2017
prebuilts and monitors aren't even in store (other than G9, G7, and like a single MSI monitor, or the Omen cube PC)
good luck trying out anything
could say I am interested in a lot, but my knowledge isn't extensive
desks, office chairs, other than ikea doesn't exist
as constantly proven here
unless you want to go to london, good luck trying out any office chair
but you would pay 300$ just to try out a chair
I just try to get my viewpoint out, and have a decent discussion :p gotta see how good people are at persuasion here
I got to try my current one out for free, I think I spotted a Herman Miller
but the comfort ratings of office chairs soared into the high 10 hours whilst gaming chairs were <6h max
The closest store with a herman miller chair is a whole country away
what it would take to try out herman miller:
closest show room ^^
from what that looks like to me is jumping three urban metropolises and then crossing regional borders
or the widgets are names of the transport you take
like a special bus service or train route
from local, to amsterdam, to under the sea to london

7 hours away
I typed the names into the chat bar, no autocorrect
how are other lingo english but no english
might be some place that has them around here maybe
but not one you can find online just by looking for the chair itself
where are you based?
most are just webshops where you can buy them used, or import them
I probably don't need to say it again :p
South-east of the netherlands
fuck my geo skills but that sounds like the Dead Sea to me
most things are like berlin, london, paris
Netherlands is just between, England, Germany and belgium, lel
i'll guess you're in Belgium then
above it, a little bit
about an hour or so away from the border of both germany and belgium
I'm in the country which consists of two islands
border between Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean
ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
I donāt
Cordon off the cuboids on the left and right, then take out the whale with too many holes on top
Rotate the remainder 90 degrees anticlockwise
nothing to be seen
Ew Corsair
which one is this, has same keycaps as my ducky
its a keychron k6
yeah
Why?
i mean some keyboards are nice but its mostly a preference i guess
i just like the ducky keyboards because of the build quality
sound nice too
they have quite afew issues
ok
Has anyone ever tried making a keyboard frame out of titanium?
$$$$$
Probably someone on this earth has
But would be about as easy to do was any aluminum frame
Except that titanium is a pain to mill
And so is magnesium
And stainless
Use pure gold
Diamond?
That would be quite hard
Amethyst
there's probably no big enough stone like that to make a case out of it one piece
interesting idea
Explains why the ROG Zephyrus G14 2022 costs more, at least partially
milling out the lid to house Anime Matrix LEDsā¦. placement must be a pain
Should I get these key caps
If you can read chinese/japanese, sure
you do English to Japanese
yea true
me hablar ruso = death
I like how its not reminiscent of a Cyrillic or Korean keyboard, where any form of Latin character is obscured from sight
makes it easier for people to learn the language
but politics might play a part in this ig
if i get money trm i can get it
It's a very.... abstract, childish colour scheme - cheers me up every time I look at the image
mechanical
Optical overrated
unless the k8 coms in optical? I dont think it does tho
very
Gaming brands more overrated
mhm
hotswap?
it does
thats why i asked the question
true
depends on the config
ah ok
yeah
option with rgb+alu case has either mechanical or optical
true
It can but I got gateron brown mechanical switches
Also it is hot swappable
keychrons stock ones are fine in my experience
nice nice
Yeah from my light usage of it last night I had no issues
May swap out the cape for some Razer phantom PBT keycaps
why razers caps?
They looked nice
I wanted some that imitate the two tone color of the stock ones but I couldnāt find ones that I liked the look of
they're just flat black arnt t hey?
look at kenetic labs they have really nice ones
there some ok ones on amazon but they're not amazing quility
novel keys
mechanical keyboards .com
akko also have really nice ones and they have lots of options
Yeah
yea thats fair
