a white on black kit?
stick with the good old contrast color theory
smh walmart. seems like a scam
tailors mod godly bro, the first 14 seconds is the stock rattly mess and the remaining time is for tailors mod (WITHOUT lube)
Can I ask for keyboard recommendations here?
go ahead
I want a budget option that has a backlight and feels good to type on. Preferably mechanical, no blue switches and nothing smaller than TKL
Both wired or wireless will work
Max price is 80$
prefer linear or tactile?
Idk much about switches. What's the difference?
Why's there no "SD"XC in SDXC
That's sus af
That's a different brand

Dam is my keyboard preference THAT hard to find?
Is the Corsair K55 RGB Pro good?
Most people will say no
Do you say no?
I would say no
it's a meh membrane board with flashy lighting for the price of a half-decent budget mechanical
Then what should I get?
I assume you're looking for a cheap full size considering you're looking at K55?
These are my preferences
Ok
TKL(-ish)
Akko 3084/3087
Hexgears GK707/X3
Keychron C1/K2/K8
Full size(-ish)
Akko 3096/3098/3104/3108
Hexgears GK705/GK706/X5
Keychron C2/K4
Ok will look into these
I can't find any of these lol
They only show up in American sites
Keychron and Akko should also sell via Amazon among other retailers, Hexgears and Akko both have official shops on Aliexpress and Epomaker generally has Akko stuff as well
Epomaker sells via both Amazon and Ali
The ones available on Amazon are too expensive
I usually get my stuff from Amazon.in
So would be convenient if they were available on there and also fit my budget
hm... something like CK530/550 v2 available?
Ck550 V2 is available
within budget?
Yes
it's not as nice as say an Akko, but should still do decently
all good
it's horrible
Ook then
yeah its horrible
I'd recommend the keychron c1 or c2 since they're very configurable to fit your budget
Not available in my region
Ah, Hmm not to sure then sorry
keychron c1? that might be over budget
it doesnt really matter reds are linear, meaning its a smooth motion and the browns have a small tactile bump
I wouldn't say the linear are any quitter than browns
oh I didnt think of iso, uhm I've never personally used the k2 so I'd do your own research, but I'd assume its of similar quality to the c1
Hey i have a ducky one 2 TKL and i was wondering if it's PCB will support glorius pandas. I got this keyboard with mx blues long ago when I didn't know much about keyboards and now I want to resolder on some pandas for a better sound and experience
I tried to look up specs or compatibility of the pcb but I couln't find anything
yes they do
Cool thx
np
Anyone got good software for the GMMK on Linux? OpenRGB doesn't recognize it
can I disassemble the keychron c1 if I want to custom paint the case
yes
its pretty easy
redragon k552
yeah I was looking at that
that's your option lol
I was gonna order unless someone had any other suggestions
nope
what if I increase my budget to $50 CAD
I see
let me check
I will mostly gonna be using it wired but is there anything I can use wirelessly if I want to?
and it looks cool so far it also has macos support
nope, not for a budget like that
I see fair enough
how much would I need to spend if I want something like that?
Id get keychron c1
๐ btw on the website it says its $55
uhm look at the keychron k uhm 8?
thats you rbest bet for wirless
oh shit
Keychron K8 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. Tenkeyless Layout. Wireless or Wired. and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Keychron Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
is that cad or usd I am assuming its usd
btw if you could sqeeze it into your budget I'd go for hot swap incase you ever have a switch die or you wanna try differnt switches
how much would that be?
oh tahts cad
oh dang thats pretty good
just use they're configorator
I might go with the white backlight? I dont really need rgb but it might be cool to have
I think its 10$ tho
I personally dont use it but there rgb verson has alot of differnt effects
I would defiantly recommend it to anyone on a budget its very solid for the price
got it
and one thing what switches?
I know basics about the switches from videos but like the only real keyboard I have had before is a membrane keyboard and a budget logitech one
depends on preference
whether you like clicky linear or tactile
a lil deeper explanation would be better if possible
linear is a smooth motion, tactile has a bump when the switch is actuated and clicky is a tactile but with a distinct and loud click
Clicky switches make a audible click
Tactile have a bump on actuation
linear are smooth in the entire keytravel
I prefer linears
I like heavy tactiles
I see
if you like membrane a tactile will be similar to that
nah I hated the membrane
lmfao
I only got it because razer had a package for a mouse keyboard heaphones for 70 bucks
it wont be mushy, but it has that bump similar to membranes
its prefernace
clickys are pretty frown apon in the community but if you like them it doenst matter
if its my first time trying a keyboard switch which one would you recommend me
like if I am a stranger and you had to rec one to me
if possible go to a store and try them
best buy has keybaord on display you can try
yeah maybe its supposed to snow heavy tomorrow so we will see
but I would recomend tactile as there're kinda the middle ground ig?
I should really get a c1
I just need something for editing
since the 60he wont have arrow keys
I need something to work with my macbook for now but I am not sure if I should wait until I have enough money for my pc
or buy it rn
because I have a membrane keyboard that works fine
just dont like it as much
I mean I would get a replacement for a membrane but then again I cant stand macs so
yeah replacement for membrane coming for sure just dunno if the right time is right now
I like my mac the problem is I want to play a few games and it really isnt ideal for that
so trying to save like 600 dollars for a pc with no gpu and get one later when prices fall
ah
or hopefully fall
they wont sadly, but availability will eventually get better
yeah
maybe 2nd hand
do you have any knowledge about pcs if so could you help me in #tech-chat-1 ?
eh decent
does anyone know about openrgb and can i use it with my drop ctrl?
I'd try signal rgb first, in my experience its got a wider range of compatibility, But I doubt it supports drop conrl
i found that i need to make my drop ctrl compatible with open rgb but idk how to make the qmk for openrgb into a bin file
to flash the keyboard
oh I see, I havent flashed many boards. have you googled it?
yes
idk what im supposed to do with his to flash my drop ctrl
Idk about that keyboard but for my TEX Yoda II I just dragged and dropped the file onto the keyboard's storage
If the keyboard has a program toggle switch on it, then that one will make it show up as a drive in Windows
try using this https://drop.com/mechanical-keyboards/configurator
I used to use this for my Drop ALt keeb
ye but im trying to compile a firmware for openrgb whic is used to control the rgb on the pc without having to use the fn keys
so you can switch it to whatever color you want
c1 is hot swap
ohh i seee
i would reccomend getting linears. you can tell pretty easily whether or not you like them and the budget options are common enough
I just got the corsair k65 mini but it doesnt show in icue can someone help?
nvm i solved it

New to gaming with keyboard and mouse, especially for FPS games. Can you game competitively on MX blues?
You can game competitively on anything as long as it has N-Key Rollover
but like don't get MX Cherry like ever
Why
Because the quality of their switches is very bad
and is basically equal to like Outemu at this point
Cherry switches have like barely changed for forever
If it ain't broke.
it's broke though
like super broke
their switches are less durable and feel way worse
I currently have a logi k840, and hate the feel.
and still somehow cost way more
Cherry switches are only good if you get the entire keyboard for like maybe 50$
vintage cherry
because that's how much modern outemu switch keyboards are now
I mean most of those can be had for like 10$ in my country
So nkey roll is not standard?
old japanese keyboards with cherry
u sure????
Yes, old japanese keyboards from like pre 2000s I think
can you find nixies??
what does the box look like though I can't visit the old tech reselling place here
because of COVID
the keyboard will tell you if it has it
Like just get a Tecware Phantom or something
I'll check it out.
Hello! i was wondering if anyone knows of a Good Laptop Style External Keyboard? Ive been trying to find a good one on amazon but i dont really know which one is good or not.
nixies are switches lol
I'm not that well versed in vintage keyboards
most of them are just Japanese Office Keyboards as I've said
oh ok
need to get another pcb for my mitsumi rubber dome keyboard
and also need to rewhiten the chassis
one of the best membranes I've used
I also have a space invaders switch keyboard I need to restore too
Ngl I kinda like that
You could buy a low profile mechanical keyboard if you can't find anything you'd like. I haven't noticed giant differences between standard butterfly low profile keyboards. I think chinese brands, logitech and Apple sell them.
I wouldnt get a apple keybaord or logitech
same
if you want low profile keychron has some nice once or I think the nifu air or what ever its called is decent
I think ltt did a video on it
I had a keyboard equivalent to the HAVIT one
it was a store in house brand but same factory
PG1350
yea~
dont buy
It was fine to be fair, but wasn't havit
Like I can't give a shit about RGB so it's really whatever
didn't notice latency etc oir any problems
Even spilled a coke on it and it's fine
Just washed it with water ๐
Btw what is the difference between DSA and XDA
liek size wise
are those keycap profiles??
I want something that's lower than OEM because I find it hard to move my fingers efficiently (which is why I love laptop keyboards)
Yes
oh ok
cherry?
Is it too tall though, compared to XDA/DSA
its lower than oem
Idk much obout key caps, I just use oem
ok
dsa is flatter then xda
Mostly the fact that the K2 that I have has quite a height
if you want low profile go for dsa
Yeah the height really trips me up
I'd actually like it inverted where f keys were lower than normal keys
IDK why but more comfy
are DSA weaker due to size or just sturdy too
depends on the brand that made it, but I wouldnt think they're delicate
yes, but im the wrong person to ask
Were inks too heavy in your opinion
I mean I don't care I'm not one to look into specs with things like keyboard and headphones
I cant stand linears, so I hated everything about them. wrong person to ask
ik ink blacks are popular tho
I hate linears if I test keyboards but like them because tactiles make my fingers feel worn after typing multiple pages
Man the bump gives me a good feelif I don't use it for too long though ๐คค
I understand why people like them but I really dont like tryping on them
have you tried light tactiles?
maybe try a light tactile, similar to mx browns (but not mx browns) the bumb is there but when you type at speed you don treally notice it
I think that butterfly switches on my laptop kb need more force than the browns I've used
probably
the profile matters a lot to me
like laptop I can sometimes do 100 wpm
mech keyboard I do 79
but I like the feel so whatever xd
light tactiles are basically linear unless your a slow typer, then you'll notice the bump
corsa switches are a nice light tactile
sure
Hey gang, wife says my Cherry MX Blue switches (Corsair K70) is too loud. Looking for a great quiet keyboard, but want that tactile feel. I don't see a "blue/brown silent" switch from Cherry. Any reccos?
whole new board or just a switch?
Whole new board
what layout?
full size
alr, 1 second
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-c2-wired-mechanical-keyboard?variant=32312457625689
its out of stock rn but keychron doesn't take long to restock,
Keychron C2 Mechanical Keyboard. Full-size 104-keys Layout. Connects via wired type-c cable and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Gateron Switches. 15+ RGB Backlight
Aren't the Brown switches loud?
those are gatteron browns, similar to mx browns and arnt very loud, but if you really value a quite switch you can get silent switches
not very, much quiter than mx blues
I can maybe send a sound comparison if you wanna a rough idea of how loud
Anything that compares to like a membrane amount of noise?
That would be great!
*not requirement, but I really like the volume wheel (or dedicated buttons) vs FN button combo. If there is one you can recommend with that too?
uhm I take a look those aren't quite as common amongst the enthusiast boards, well knobs are but I dont know of any full sized off the top of my head
Yea there's some nice tenkeyless options but hard to find full size
yea full sizes dont seem to be as popular
most people in the custom scene tend to stay to lower sizes and just get a numpad
Yea
since you get to save space since a numpad is useless when you don't need one
which is most of the time when you're using a computer
first - keychron c2 with gatteron browns
second - Logitech something (its membrane)
third some 20$ amazon board with clicky switches
last one sounds like my Corsair k70 Blues lol
also it should be noted the last one was recorded quite awhile ago and is farther aeay from the mic than the other two, in person its much louder than the c2
very similar switch's
if you think that'll still be too loud aslong as you get a hotswap board you can get silent switches that wont make much noise\
can also try qmx clips on your current board
qmx clips?
Testing the all new GMK QMX Clips out with the most popular variety of Cherry MX switches. First impressions are good. Be sure to keep checking KeyChatter.com for a full review soon!
very impressive sound supression on the browns!
interesting
they sell versions for plate and PCB mount
you'd have to open the switch ot do that tho right/
I see
I just found out they exist from drop selling them
ah
Get a hot swap board and put some kailh silent box brown or boba u4 switches in there
if you have to open the switch it might be easier just to get a new board
yea thats what I would do if I really needed a quite board
it would sound similar to this: https://youtu.be/zq3q3Zn7A7o?t=271
Review of the Kailh BOX Silent Pink Linear switches. Compared against some of the popular silent switches out there and a brief look at the BOX Brown Tactiles as well.

Those are good
they wanted tactiles tho
Silent box brown
I think I link the part of the video where they tried the tactilse tho
oh yea I did nvm
silent switch
qmx clips
and car sound dampening foam
ultimate quiet build
yea, but that would require a fair bit of effort a keychron c2 and kailh silent browns would be good enouhg for most people
mostly just thinking about how cool it'd be in a silent build
Thinking this could be interesting:
https://mountain.gg/keyboards/everest-max/
Brown keys, add the QMX clips
hmm
I've never heard of it so I'd look into some reviews, and for the qmx clips we're not sure how you install those if you need to open the switch or take the switch out then it could take abit to get the board set up
Thanks to Mountain and Cherry for sponsoring this video! Check out the keyboards below

and yea the QMX clips sounds like quite a hassle to install, but might be the right fit for "quiet" but also getting the "click" feel
looks like they just clip on top of the housing
so all you'd have to do is remove the keycap
for the plate mounted ones
oh interesting
+kudos to both of you
That keyboard is pretty $$$ so gonna have to think on it
appreciate all the help and insight!
lol
glad to help, gl on making a final decision
np if you do end up going the qmx clip route then get the plate mounted ones
whats a good site to get keycaps on (first time builder)
cherry or oem

im looking into cream switches
currently im looking at Esty for keycaps
kenetic labs or keychron although ik alot of people have had issues with consistency from keychron so I maybe wouldn't recommend them
those are the only shops Ive bought from
akko has some nice ones too tho I think, I've heard good things
also what do you think abt cream vs panda (holy and pcmr) vs gateron vs penguins
ye
I like myn but they do have alittle spring ping, not audible by a mic in my experince but if you listen closely it is there. It could be killed uff by lubing the springs tho, I just havent had time
ok
ill prob be lubing them anyway
i have a friend who has built a few thats going to (hopefully) help me build
its more of a clacky sound than thocky
ik pandas are deep
idk about the others, gat browns are very ehh wouldnt get assuming you mean gat browns by gateron
if you like light tactiles ig theyre ok but i wouldnt recommend
ok
then maybe i wont ๐คท
idk
i havent fully looked into switches inside of the gat world
my feeling with 80% kbs is that if i wanted to use # pad i can just buy a usb one
cuz i kinda want a smallish kb (ik 80% is still decently large)
and dont use npad to much
also tho if you want a ligh tactile penguins and pandas are pretty strong tactiles, idk about creams tho
ok
Hello, anyone can help me? my "W" like to stop working when i play apex legends
when i hold "W" it stops moving and if i press harder, its working
its not all the time
fyi , i like to press shift, A and W, or S, W and shift, etc mixed.
Just simply running around my character will stop moving for a second. I have to re-press W to continue moving. Although my gut tells me itโs connection/network related, nothing else in the game stops, stutters, rubberbands or lags at the same moments. So a firefight can be buttery smooth but as so...
its just like this case
i mean
what keyboard do you have
ducky one 2 mini
My character stops moving randomly 3 seconds in, despite the fact that I was sprinting and holding W on my keyboard.
This happens many times a game.
this video, he has the same problem with me
i tried to hold W in my notepad but it seems fine
you mean when im in game ?
In word pad, just to double check it's not a hardware issue
yeah i checked it at notepad, its fine
Not sure then, sorry
i dont understand what happen to my ducky

Of it's in any app it's a hardware issue
where are you from, whats your preferred form factor and switch type?
US, 80%, im not sure what switch i should even get
as of rn i have a razer huntsman tournament edition
does it produce an audible click sound when you type on em?
it sounds ok
yea i know it sounds okay
yes its loud enough?

does anyone know an app/program, which let's you control everything (Win 10/11)without a mouse ?
cloud, do you not have a mouse?
I use an laptop with an trackpad and I would like to stay on the keyboard. And I don't want to carry a mouse all the time...
Yes. It's called a trackpad
can someone help me figure out what switches i should get
at this moment im looking at ink blacks
(gat)
or maybe the akko silver
ajazz x huano Peach @chrome raft
thanks
anyone kno how hollow the keychron c1 sounds without mods? Is it louder than the tecware phantom 87 if they both have red switches
Nice
wait what?????????????????
like fr??????
no fucking way
is it real hotswap or akko only hotswap
feels like its only small pin hotswap
like its only compatible with switches with small pins
but akko switches do work
How much should DSA PBT keycaps cost?
Most likely dye sublimated
Also I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy my own gat yellows and lube+film them or buy pre lubed by some person
found them for 50-60โฌ lubed+filmed and seems pretty good (legit store too)
l+f them urself
well its gonna be more expensive then by hand
yeah but including shipping its like 20โฌ
I think it would take forever and cost to buy tools to open the switches etc
or just take so much time
many hours
depends how many switches and what method of lubing
but yeah filming is tedious and time consuming
what's a good 65% budget case and pcb? i'm looking for something like the tm680 but i heard it has some reliability issues. rgb and hotswap are nice but not must haves
Paid like 35$ canadian for my double shot pbt dsa set
HIGHLY depends on the brand, unfortunately
Even the cheapest shit humanly possible would cost $50 if it was by GMK
budget?
Pretty sure dsa is from SP tho?
~$60
hmm let me see, idk if you can get a rotary knob with that tho
Keychron K6 Compact Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. 65% Layout. Wireless or Wired. Users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
thats kinda the best I got, leopold might have a nice board in that price range but im not familiar with them so
if rotary knob is smth yo;u wand you could save your money for abit and get the keychron q2, I've heard good things about it
Keychron Q2 is a fully customized 65% layout mechanical keyboard packed with all premium features and unlimited possibilities. Q2 is an all-metal keyboard that allows customizable capabilities for every key switch, keycap, knob, and stabilizer. Itโs made for your personalized experience and a more comfortable typing experience.
looks pretty good, thanks for the advice!
np
is the only difference between keychron c1 and k8 that k8 is wireless?
which board would be more value the keychron q2 or the k8 pro (ik different sizes but size dosent matter to me)(and also both fit my budget)
are these the same keyboards or not?
Looking for a full sized wireless mechanical keyboard, but the options are super limited from what Amazon shows. 90% of them are 60%s which, to each their own. But I don't like the 60s
Same, I want to buy a 75% cuz I need that del button and the f1 buttons
I donโt need a numbpad
If u neither need it, I should for a 75%
90 switches but I have no idea how to lube so
you could at the very least, lube the stem rails
since thats where most of the friction is
I guess
Believe it or not this is a membrane.
I forgot to turn the recording off and watched other videos of my keyboard on my phone.
Before realizing.
i mean, if you get used to it, then high speed typing is possible

I was talking about the sound.
oh nvm
(yes I lubed a membrane)
Yes, that was only an example though
If that's cool for you ig?
Trying to find a full sized wireless mechanical keyboard, but there aren't many options out there. Anyone have suggestions?
If it's wireless, Logitech always has options
whats your budget and where are you from?
Budget isn't a restraint, I'm willing to save up. US Based
and you shouldnt buy them
Lol
That's a nice decline with literally zero argumentation, grats
You disagree in an objective tone, probably isn't objective, though an argumentation as to be why, has yet to be seen ๐
They said no specific budget, so why not get a G915 Lightspeed, apparently you shouldn't buy Logitech keyboards
prob because of the construction
but tbh, when it comes to low latency wireless board, theres not much options
its not hotswap
sounds trash
rlly scratchy
Hotswap, sure, but not everybody cares, subjective, subjective
What else?
it sounds like shit
Sub. jective.
feels like tying on sand
huh, i dont know that kailh choc are scratchy
Sub. jective.
You have delivered exactly ONE objective argument so far, just so you know
I can understand why hotswap would bother someone, but the average user will not care as they wouldn't even know what to put in there anyway
we could guide them to better constructed boards
but again, the wireless requirement makes the option really limited
tru
also it has to be 100%
or 1800
or 96%
Wouldn't have gone with Logitech myself, but wireless
Bending it like that is a nono, they definitely said 100% ๐คท
it sucks that bluetooth comes with some sort of latency
and the delay could be bad for some boards more than others
Well.. Yeah
Of course it does
that is up for debate imo
You consider a lot of weird stuff as they aren't, doesn't it
i would like to catergorized those into compact full 108 keys
yeah but its basically the same a full sized
the spacing between the keys arent tho?
again, its gonna come down to personal preference if the uses notice and like the differences or not
Ah nah, that specific one is the standard ANSI one, but you get the gist
yea
yeah
i just not gonna recommend anything cause i know nothing about wireless full size boards
if latency is not a problem then maybe
i would probably recommend a kbd67 but its not full sized
If you go by Logitech, latency isn't much of a problem
yeah
ik
the problem is the keyboard itself
ok well some people mght not need hotswap
might
You're just shitting on Logitech because you don't like their keyboard division, as seen by two subjective arguments and an almost irrelevant objective one
most*
logitech keyboard are pretty bad for the price you pay ... the only reason to get one is that you want to stay in the logitech ecosystem or that the keyboard offers something special that no other can offer ... and that's about it ...
material use
build quality
lack of some modern feature
lack of switches options
Forgot to come back and check chat. I personally don't like how the G15 looks anyways, so
lack of hotswap option
but it's not just logitech ... you can say about the same with any gamery brand like corsair, razer and such
Yeah, as far as keyboards go, I'm usually pretty satisfied with RedDragon in terms of price to quality and feature ratio anyways
As even some of their cheaper options are decent build wise, and have macro ability and knobs and stuff
those redragon are kinda impressive as in for the price you get a lot of keyboard ... big gaming brand keyboards should be priced about the same as the redragon offers imo
Yeah as far as things go, haven't been disappointed with any of the boards I've had from them. But in the near future, moving to a white minimalist theme so I'm hunting for a wireless KB
Though, I suppose could do just as well with one of the USB C boards, as you can get some really nice coiled cables to fit any aesthetic or theme you'd like. As well as some of them let you route the cable various ways which helps with hiding it potentially
some reddragon boards are hotswap with akko switches
boba u4t's have thinner pins???
would cost over 100$ to get the amount of switches I want ... so I'll postpone the purchase for now
wait what
Honestly, don't have too much preference or experience with switches. I just know I don't like SUPER clacky. Though, I know as far as switches go, some have even more LEDs on them for even MORE lights, which is crazy
I don't care about rgb at all
so it's not a factor when buying switches or keyboard
Current KB isn't hotswappable, as it's not something that mattered at the time, but if you have any suggestions for switches based purely on aesthetics and smooth typing performance.
same
preference
Yeah, I get that. I just like the option when switching themes around, as it helps a great deal to have it all cohesive in terms of complimentary colors
just get multiple gmk sets๐
Hmm, about about some smooth linear switches with plenty of RGB potential? gmk?
why do you care about rgb so much
just switch the keycaps
if you want to change the looj
look
Because as a fully grown man, I like my pretty colors. Yeah, I've already got like 5-6 sets of pudding caps
what keeb do u have
different colors. i dont ALWAYS rely on rgb to set a theme. only at night usually
i use a logitech mx ergo plus mouse lol
i use a trackball
durgod fusion ...
the only sad thing about that board is that is has only cherry switches
mine has reddragon cherry red knockoffs
outemu reds
Yis, much nicer than the blues IMO
"knockoffs" are usually better than cherry tho
It's fun to type on once in a while but god does it annoy me after prolonged use.
you would probably like some good tactile if you like the feeling of the blue
ok well outemu manufactures some good switches
yes they do
I made a decision on a USB C KB. I like how the reds feel more honestly, just feels like smoother experience. Previous KB (blue switches) came with a tester kit for their switches. Didn't like the tactile all that much, though I feel like it feels best on the spacebar. As with my typing speed I'm more often to miss a spacebar stroke than anything.
Indeed. Well, I appreciate the help guys. Thanks alot
I can't stand linears
well its preference
yes it is
Model m just became my daily
Got a custom cable in that makes it a modern USB board
Is it a Soarer's Converter cable?
yes
works very well and on devices labels itself a soarers converter
so it must have some built in hardware to the cable
my model m though has been refurbished and bolt modded
Cool, should last for a few more decades then!
Bet, that's awesome! I really like my Model M13 with the trackpoint, not bolt-modded so one of the clips is a lil shmeh but otherwise it's great :)
My Elvish keycaps FINALLY arrived
yeah blue switches suck, the click jacket makes the sound all plasticky. Click bar switches like by Kailh are FAR better.
box jades โค๏ธ
well midnight jades, just a recolor of the 5-pin crystal variant of the jade switch
As for tactile switches, you've probably just been turned off by bad switches, like Cherry MX Browns or clones of them. There are really good tactiles out there if you look for them and different people like different tactile feels. The BOX Crystal Royal switches are my favorite and coming in close second are BOX Burnt Orange and BOX Brown. I've never tried Holy Pandas but I'm sure they're good, they are one of the ones that people rave about.
I recommend BOX switches a lot because they're a solid switch for people who are just getting into keyboards and you never really grow to a point where they're not good.
For linear switches I like ink blacks or speed silvers
and the o-ring mod is chef's kiss
we're talking pcb o ring mods right?
o ring silencing
oh, I dont like o ring silencing
PCB o-ring mod is cool too, but I really like a lubed, filmed, and o-ringed linear
but only when done to a switch that has a large travel
it kinda ruins short-travel switches
unless the o-ring is REALLY tiny
I also cant stand linears so maybe its great? not my deal tho so I wouldnt know. havent liked o ringed swithces in the past tho
linears are mid, I only like a couple of em
I like mid-strong tactiles or nice clickies
ye
rn the kenetic labs penguins are my favorite
ever tried box royal?
I have not
debating lubing mine. Honestly you really don't need to
they're a strong tactile with a medium spring strength
p 1.8 full 3.6
yea
idk I would maybe try them, but I personally would like a touch lighter spring and 2mm of pretravel
one switch I do wanna try is the zeal clickiez
but damn they're expensive
tho
yea
but damn do they sound like a nice clicky
its not sharp click like jades its more a nice metalalic sounding click
damn
yeah I like both kinda clicks
im not a fan of the jades too sharp for me
I have this fidget cube type beat I 3D-printed but instead of buttons and shit it has receptacles for switches
you click them in and you put keycaps on them and boom fidget cube
ah, nice
I can't wait for the G413 SE to be available in more places
looks like dogshit tbh
Cheap switches cheap build
You can get an identical keyboard by just typing "Mechanical Keyboard Per-Key LED" on amazon
Ehh as long as they work, aren't too loud and are durable I'm fine with it
I'm a fan of the white LEDs
you can set the LED of RGB Keyboards to white
and also it's 80$
when you can get like a keyboard at half the price that'll be basically identical
Also got the Extras kit and the Evenstar modest
Modset
And the numpad
And the Smaug wrist rest
Well for me, the ones that do have good build quality, have either blue switches or the fonts look bad
Ohh ok
base set (this is the โhardcoreโ elvish only kit) is around a hundred, and each modpack/extras kit is around $25-35
Thereโs also a set for ortholinear boards
Anyone else in here ever tried the Razer Blade optical keyboard?
It is, by a long-shot, the most different keyboard I've ever felt lol...it's wack
Not good or bad necessarily, just vastly different from anything else I've tried (which is anything MK.com sells)
Anyone have an opinion on Akko Switches? Really wanting to give the Demon set a shot
gaddang this ciy tester68 barebones kit cheap asf
but no wired sadly
gonna update once i get it
also my first time using xda profile shi tiring ash
any recommendations for linear switches? I've tried tangies before and liked them but they're not available atm. I've been thinking of creams but idk if i really want to bother lubing cause of my schedule.
ive heard good things but have no experience with them personally
about the same for me
mayhaps
gat x
Linear ... check out akko offering or bobagum for a.premium feel ...
I like them
Keychron C1 Mechanical Keyboard. Tenkeyless Layout. Connects via wired type-c cable and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Gateron Switches. 15+ RGB Backlight
C1
i think i want to buy this one
and then some external numpad
very solid board and would recommend\
keycaps not my fav but thats preferance
it will be my first mech keyboard
I'd say its pretty average in terms of noise, yes myn is modded
if you plan on modding it its abit of a pain to get open but not terrible
ill probs just put some foam inside it or something
just looking at a modding video of it
I can send you one if you want
modding video yes sorry
aaaaaand did the switches come prelubed?
I think they have some sort of oil on them
nice
the woman said that the stabilizers are prelubed, but she didnt say if the switches are too
I see
- Remove all the keyboard keycaps. 2. Use slider or other tools to insert into the keyboard housing and then remove it. 3. Remove all the screws on the keyboard switch plate. 4. Then you will be able to take out the keyboard bottom housing and the PCB plate.ย FYI: If there is no problem with the keyboard, it is not re
Oh that's the c2
It's the same process anyway
btw you dont have to remove all the keycaps
Oh wow I forgot they provide instructions on how to do that. Nice
they do amazingly
my respect for keychron
โฌ๏ธ
wait for the Q3
trust
So, the KB I decided to get unfortunately only has two lighting modes, unicorn vomit, or off. Which is just unfortunate
Anyone recommend any key caps for the Logitech g512 carbon thatโll last a long time and look nice
what board?
can you take a keycap off?
Yeah in maybe 30min Iโm just currently away from home
ah alr I can google it then
do you want pbt or abd
abs*
for the plastic
Which one will last the longest and stay the same for the longest
G512 carbon is romer G right?
oh it's not
actaully from a quick google it looks like no
Idk up to 50usd
so that's actually really nice
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002674967506.html
this is the only thing you can buy I think @quick pulsar
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
Logitech has a weird bottom row
which only they use
whys tha?
taht
that
jesus
Bottom Row non-standard
oh really
Though I'm trying to remember if the G512 Carbon was also affected by that
Yeah there's a gap
Yeah doesn't work @spark hatch on it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWxfQ-vaB-M
Pros : Looks great! Feels great!
Cons : I had to sacrifice the space bar, both shifts, both enters, and num 0 because it didnโt fit on this model of keyboard
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002674967506.html
just pick like a set and wait a few months @quick pulsar
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
thats quite unfortuneate
That's why I don't buy gamer e-waste
Look at the bottom row
The standard keycaps didn't fit so they just used the Logitech ones again
If you still want it here it is
idk any romer keycaps
50 USD is enough for a new keyboard btw
Get a tecware phantom
keychron c2 is a nice option
Works with Akko CS switches
Shift and enter
I don't think you can fit a C2 in 50$
doesnt matter cant get new keycaps
Yeah Romer G so no custom keycaps
its possible
So how much if I can will it cost
for a new board?
For key caps
there are none, its a romer g switch, no ones makes keycaps that are gonnna be any better than the stock ones
Ok thanks
Yeah I'd just go tecware phantom ngl
Nevermind, I was wrong, you just have to use software to change the LEDs around, got used to RedDragon's way of changing colors
that doesnt answer my question but thanks
HYperX Alooy Origins
ah
Alloy*
i have the g512 carbon
please dont get it
Yeah I know it's e-waste
i got it as a gift a while ago and the rgb started going on some switches, now the switches are dying... double clicking, not clicking.. etc
i'm getting a hyperx alloy origins core
anyone know if its a good keyboard?
red switches
kinda hard to get logitech stuff (romer g) cuz of the weird stem
I would just avoid big gaming brand
i cant
stuff here are already expensive, and shipping from the us will be waay too much
have you taken a look at keychron? I think they're not to bad on shipping
no wait i might be wrong on that
i live in egypt, so pretty much all shipping will be expensive
this is the k8 tkl
Get your stuff from.europe then
they dont ship to egypt
ah
anyways, my only options are local
I see
hey is there an rgb software that supports any keyboard? im using a key control alienware keyboard but the software dosent offer key control....
openrgb, but not every keyboard. It might work
Didnt work :(
rip
yea, alienware branded peripherals
thereโs another but i forgor the name
which prob means that its proprietary
also, even tho the led is addressable doesnt mean that the controller has the ability to control them btw
you have to go into โdevice settingsโ which is a bit hard to find
itโs within the FX tab in AWCC
SignalRGB
I tried it , the problem is that Alienware has limited presets and doesnโt let me control each individual key
According to alienware my keyboard is only controlled in 13 zones
But that cant be right as some presets can light individual keys
which board
Alienware AW68 pro
Hello fellow Arab use something called shop and ship thatโs what I use to ship my stuff to saudi
But the xray preset can control individual keys
school computer with a key upside-down and and stuck under the case
well, fix it
Does anyone know where I can get these keycaps or something similar or will I have to buy a black and white set separately
I think your best bet is getting white and black separate
I recently was looking for similar too but they do t seem to be very popular
Actually keychron might have something close but it'll be abs plastic if you care about that
epbt has a black and white set
good looking if you don't mind the price tag or cherry profile
i've seen it but its still a little more expensive
M13s are very cool! How do you find the TrackPoint performance? Whilst acceptable IMO, I find using this makes it even better: https://github.com/KovaaK/InterAccel (just don't run it whilst gaming though, anti-cheats hate it). Gives it a kick in the pants!
nice popy keycaps on old ibm boards make them look so refreshed and new looking
You can go overboard, though. This is the Model M I'm currently using and its... unique.
Basically, just random parts of IBM, Lexmark and Unicomp keycap sets I have mixed together.
yea~ im not a fan of that
the ones you sent before, esspecailly the blue one, those look quite nice
I love it because I hate it, thb. But, subtle or consistent keycap sets look good.
ah, yea
goddang these zealios are not for me
the tactility is too much for me
and like i get fatigue easily
and i dont press the keys hard enough
coming from linear 60g
well they are called "Pure TACTILITY"
yup
and i got the 67g one too
goddamn
they dont sound as good as holy pandas
but they still sound nice
tbh I dont like the sound of pandas
i respect that
but i dont mean it like im saying that the holy pandas have great sound
just saying its the closest to zealios
but just a little bit better sounding
i havent even looked at durok tactiles
how about tecsee purple pandas
has anyone tried that out
im just curious
not much of a tactile dude
more on the linear side
i havent even heard of that one
its relatively light at 55g
ahh
the durock t1's have the same actuation force as the holy pandas and the zealios v2 67g that i have
so yea basically 67g actuation force
but what i like with the zealios that there is almost no stem wobble
didnt need to film it
sorry correction: no stem and top housing wobble
ah
T1s and other durock t1 stemmed switches are basically the same as zealios
ohhh i see
goddamn wtf
when i lubed the zealios the tactile feel got sharper
heyl no
i do not like tactiles at all
LMAO
well yes i do like in the terms that it is a great sharp tactile
but i mean it like i dont like it personally
since im not into tactiles
i think im just gonna build a board for my brother with these zelios
he said he likes it
yea ik
