tactile you feel the click/bump
had to delete msg bad my city
ah
linear activate after a set distance instead
clicky make a pronounced sound as well as being tactile
ah Ight thanks
this is generally the types at least for specific switches they often publish specs to how the work, how much force they need to actuate (register a stroke) etc
what is anti ghosting also
it's to identify multiple key presses simultaneously
mostly useful in games
not generally a problem nowadays I think
ahh
apparently grading in percent
100% anti ghosting you can press all the keys at the same time and all will register
ah ye
see the bump on the brown one, that's the tactile bump you feel
the blue one smashes the plastic part into the switch casing making the sound
as well as bump
and the red one doesn't have bump, just a linear plane/slope
there will be different sub-types with linear activating sooner etc
hm
I use clicky keys myself, but that is not for everyone
I used to input invoice dates and due-by-dates as well as OCR numbers at work
could be like 2-300 invoices so I had to do it fast and not make mistakes
get a switch tester
so i wanted both the tactile and audio feedback to have a high successrate and now I'm just used to it
🤨
it's like a sample pack with different switches mount to a plate
where is a cheap one I can get
first result for me, no idea if any good https://www.amazon.com/Cherry-Switch-Tester-keyboard-Sampler/dp/B01GZHU1EG
but seems to have good ratings
also seems to include o-rings which I haven't experimented with myself but you can put those between the switch and the keycap I guess to introduce some dampening
but this is really getting into the high end of things I guess
o-ring dampens the sound of the downstroke (not the upstroke tho), it shortens the bottom out of the switch by the thickness of the ring and it makes it more or less squishy depending of the density of the o-ring
you can use those for soldered switches if you don't want to desolder the entire board ... if you have hotswappable board then just get silent switches that have rubber dampers on the stem
or get a soldered board with silent switches ...
that if you want really quiet boar
Look for any other from Leopold
You should really look into leopold
Amazing boards
To where
You can ask someone to proxy for you
A second hand one
A proxy
A proxy is someone who sends you stuff if its in their country cheaper
Idk, you can try mechmarket
Doubt
Idk
Ebay shipping is pure aids when it comes to price
depends on the seller
I paid 4.99 for shipping
yo should i pay more for durock medium tactile, or just go with akko ocean blues?
both are tactile
@turbid jungle durocks are smoother due to them being JWK tactiles
Akko lavender purple are quite cheap and smoother than ocean blue
why do you know so much about akko switches?
i literally cant even remember the actuation force of one switch
i do remember it
but like your have rlly good memory
or you googled it
Cause i round them interesting and wanted to know the difference between ocean blue and lavender purple ... so I got them both ... and later I got the sponge
Also I have a really good memory for stuff I researched... but someone will tell me his name and I'll forget it within 10 minutes
Same for numbers ... like I need to remember some numbers to write them somewhere and if i have to walk more than 2 min I'll forget those
oh lol
Jesus christ, all these whack keyboard switch names and types....
Just how many variances of options do you need for buttons?
Believe it or not, people make detailed videos analysing how these variants sound
Wish I could have easy access to the kind of copium they're on
I believe it.
The level of focus people have when involved with Niche of Niche of Niche products is insane just by the merit of its niche alone
Add extensibility and large selection of product choices and suddenly its turned into an artform
150,000 at least
Thing is, the product choice is mostly an illusion, the linears all come from two manus
With slight differences in material and color but that's about it
Definitely
Yea that's why I don't believe most of the audiophile grade bullshit around switch sound and feel lol
I'm simple. Gimmie a heavy ass linear and I'm good. I also have never done a full custom because programming QMK seems like more work than just using icue, also the idea of paying 3x more for mostly the same stuff, having to do all the work myself and even then it doesn't have some of the features I like or find cool from the board I have.
I don't agree with your take on customs but definitely on the sound thing
Like if you want to listen to something pleasing just, like, listen to music
What don't you agree with on the customs?
not all costumes at 3x more, theres alot of builds that are the same or cheaper than oems
Hmm.... IDK, maybe I'm used to icue but, icue has never had a major issue for me EXCEPT the one update they broke existing profiles
I agree with you on the qmk part, I don't give two shits about it, but custom chassis are understandable
Maybe it was due to looking at full size boards then but everything I had seen indicated the cheapest barebones was more than a whole keyboard with switches and caps
I too want a keyboard that will probably last me forever
there are defintally some expensive boards but theres also alot of good budget options out there
I know there are for smaller boards, especially TKL but I hadn't seen much in the way of custom full size boards
Maybe I missed some options or something but the only ones I found were super expensive.
Keychron C1 Mechanical Keyboard. Tenkeyless Layout. Connects via wired type-c cable and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Gateron Switches. 15+ RGB Backlight
65 usd with 30$ shipping
rgb, hot swap, all the shit
But I also replaced my original K95 RGB for the sole reason of my RGB was getting dim lol.
thats the wrong one oo[s
Keychron C2 Mechanical Keyboard. Full-size 104-keys Layout. Connects via wired type-c cable and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Gateron Switches. 15+ RGB Backlight
thats the one I ment to send
thats a good issue
Yea, I really noticed it when I bought a super cheap K70 Lux and rebuilt it for someone and realized how dim my RGB was vs theirs. I tried to ignore it but it didn't work.
ah
So now I have a K100. I still need a few custom caps for the G Keys but the rest of the board is basically done. Thinking about adding a pair of USB C ports to it, of for the board and the second for the passthrough so I can make the cable removable but haven't done anything on that yet.
The LEDs they use now are massive, so bright they can probably cause eye damage if you look directly in to one
The keychron looks pretty nice. I probably would have recommended my cousin that instead of the board we got him if they had it at the time. (it's been several years)
its a solid baord, stock switches are quite scratchy and the stabs have alittle rattle otherwise very solid for the price
I did a type C port on my K95, granted it probably wouldn't work C - C (I never tested) but this one has passthrough so I'd need to do 2 or do some proprietary style Y cable so the board would work with a standard cable but passthrough wouldn't unless using the special cable but that seems like a lot more work than just adding 2 ports and making sure C - C works on the board's main port.
ah
I'd have to double check internal space but I had also considered doing something like adding a nanohub internally to have 2 passthrough ports https://www.smart-prototyping.com/NanoHub-tiny-USB-hub-for-hacking-projects
Note: Due to the main chip USB2422-I/MJ price raising impact, we have to change the selling price from 9.9USD to 69.9USD. Once the chip price returns to normal, we will change it back, too. Description:Ever had to cram a USB device into an impossibly small volume, only to find out you've run out of
but uh... due to chip shortages it went from $10 to $70 so not super feasible right now even with space.
Yea the chip used to be like $1 or so
What makes the Keychron Q1 better than the Keychron K2v2?
look at the descriptions
k2 doesnt have sparated arrow cluster
k2 is wireless
k2''s made of plastic q1 is aluminum
usb is on the side instead of top
There is an aluminum version of the K2
ok still very differnt
But I don't feel like those justify the $110 price difference
If those are the only differences then the Q1 is absolutely not worth it
I'd say it is
It can also be wired
Why?
yea
@spark hatch why do you think the Q1 is worth it?
its a 70$ differnce
I personally like gasket mounts and for a gasket mount theres not really anything in the same class, separated f row and arow keys look way nicer in my opinion, q1 comes with a coiled aviator cable thats really nice, south facing rgb, via support (k2 might have but they dont advertise it so I'd think not, personlly like the astetic of the case better than k2
oh screw in stabs
those are alot nice than plate mount
Even if you account for the sale, $170 - $70 = $100 difference in price
click on the aluminum option
you cant compar plastic to metal
I was going to order the aluminum k2 but it was out of stock. I waited for a while for it to restock but it never did. I ended up just getting the plastic keyboard with white backlights (rgb was also out of stock). Then ofc soon after I order my keyboard the aluminum restocks
ah
I'm typing on my Keychron K2v2 Hotswappable Edition right now
yea
I'm going to customize it soon
Im ont the q1
Nice
If I had more money I would have gotten the Q1
Although tbh I kinda like how compact the K2 is
yea, its good~ after modding, even after they added more foam the q1 stock was a ping monster
fair
I like the more exploded layouts, 75% - tkl is the sweat spot for me
ah alr, gn lmao
Finished my new new daily driver this evening, stabs might have alittle rattle yet? I can't really tell. And I the space bar has alittle bit of spring ping but I think it just needs alittle lube on the spring but I don't have time for that atm so I'm calling it done lmao.
Specs:
Keychron q1 with tempest mod, thin packing foam in the case and case break mod
Durok v2 stabs
Kenetic labs penguin switches
And one of keychrons keycap sets, I plan on getting a gmk set or kenetic labs whale set but I haven't decided yet
Just finished building a beautiful keychron q2 with lubed black inks
Am trying to clean my keyboard from all of the stuff thats gathered underneath the keycaps over a long Time but i Dunno how to remove the spacebar without breaking it
You don't have a keycap puller?
Nope
Buy one then
Aint there some other way without it?
2 twist ties that acts as one keycap puller
just get durock v2s or tx stabs
or tailors mod
shits godly
tailors mod > any other stabilizer mod except lubing them if thats even considered as a mod
cherrt Clip ins best
plate mounted durock goat
maybe
clip in is compatible with gummy o ring mount keyboards
I mean i have been building kbs for almost 3 years now
Nevermind
The spacebar is actually held in with screws (why??) Worse part is that one of the screws literally fell inside of the keyboard
which keyboard is this?
If you mean what kind its a mechanical one
the keyboard is a pcb mounted stab option
who did that board is kinda weird.. how can it fall off
There was some space inside for it to catch on and fall in as i was rotating to get it out
What's this model of a board
I have a Keychron K2v2 hotswappable and I plan on modding it exactly like it was modded in this video: https://youtu.be/5FynctdZqZw
I show you how to upgrade and mod your Keyboard on a Budget and making it much more enjoyable to use. I modded the Keychron K2 V2 Hotswappable Edition for MKBHD.
I tried to keep it as affordable as possible for anyone to be able to replicate the same mods I made. That's why I didn't replace the switches or used any High-End Luxury Custom Keyboa...
I'm going to use different keycaps tho
Go to 10:58 for the before and after sound test
i got my akko vintage white keyboard built
the switches feel so oddly light but i like it
not a huge fan of that sound signature but thats defiantly an improvement
Do you prefer higher-pitched sounds? The modded K2 in the video is very deep
I like clackyier boards or a little bit higher pitched, but not insanely high
like this, im very happy with the way this sounds
hey all, im looking to buy a new keyboard, and probably gonna head to the store soon to try some out. But im currently using a razer ornata chroma, and love the feel of these size keycaps. But looking to transition over to a mechanical keyboard; however, all the keycaps look thick and clunky. I also like to rest my fingers on the keys so i dont want them to be pushed down accidently
I had purchased the Bloody B975 and had it delivered today, tried it out and im returning it. Just wasnt feeling it
what layout you want?
full size
keychron c2 or some Leopold board
most boards dont have them included, keychron has palm wood ones you can buy as a addon
also if you want to wrest your hand on the keys without actuating the key, if you get a hot swap board you can buy heavier switches and just switch out the old ones with the heavier ones
Hi im looking for a budget mechanical keyboard. There are so many around could u help me find one that is good for the 50 pound price range
The Tecware Phantom RGB is a mechanical gaming keyboard that is suited for all gamers and general users alike. With long lasting, programmable backlit keys, and a Floating keys design which allows easier maintenance, this keyboard will keep going. 88-Key & 105-Key options, UK ISO Layout, Outemu M...
Thanks
get a rk61
Yeh but like I want a full size keyboard
its actually so hard to get a full size mechanical keeb thats hotswap at 50 bucks
Oh
maybe look at magegee?
What’s that
a budget keyboard company
K
Freshly delivered by DHL
Do u have to put the keycaps on
nice nice
its the bareboned kit, you need to get switches and kaycaps separate
Cringe keyboard
nah
Consider safa 5.88
whats wrong with q2?
Alot
like?
Its too bad
I have the q1 and its been great, granted its only good after extensive modding, stock its shit
not really
You should consider safa 5.88
just cause its not amazing stock doesn't make it bad, its not like the mods I did took much effort or money
Bad keyboard
Currently lubing some cweams
:o i have a q1
you like it?
I love it
@spark hatch I knew it wasn't perfect when I bought it. Even $600 to $1000 kb aren't. I already intended to do mods. So
My 500€ keyboard was perfect
Q1 in my opinion is a good starter keyboard and it has a lot of opportunities to be modded
its only good moded
Also has the best build in a keyboard I’ve seen
I haven’t modded mine yet and it’s been very good
It’s been fine for me
I agree its a good board and I'd recommend it as a starter board but its not good stock
maybe, but do you know what it could sound like?
or how much flex it could have?
I don’t like flex in a keyboard
I know it can sound good though and I’ve seen that a lot
thats like the q1's main selling point, its gasket mount actaully exists not just marketing
but fair enough ig
if you ever did wanna mod it, break mod, tempest, and pe foam do a land slide for it
I don’t really understand why people like that. Flexy keyboards feel like they’re cheap and going to break. Id rather have something sturdy that I can trust to not snap
that loolks pretty nice, is that your daily driver?
Yes
its not that kinda of flex lmao
its bouncy
Really debating on which o ring i should use for my next rebuild
I haven’t tried one but I’ve seen them online and I don’t think I’d like it
ive never tried a oring between the pcb, is it worth trying?
Don’t o-rings just make your keyboard a membrane?
Mine is gummy
no?
Makes it go boing boing
it makes it bouncyier, less stiff
Noob
Makes typing feel softer
Can you stop being rude?
its very nice to type on in my opinion
This is my current prototype
I’ll try it someday if I can but right now I don’t think I’d like it but who knows
I'm not being rude in being scientific
if you do wanna try take out the case foam in teh q1 then try typing on it, its very bounce without foam, you'll be able to if you like it or not pretty quick
Alright I’ll see. I think I have the tools somewhere
Hello, i want to get my first ''custom'' keyboard and i'm looking at the GMMK PRO, however i have heard alor of good and bad things about this board, anyone here who is more familiar with it?
Consider safa
take a look at the keychron q1, idobou id80, there also pretty good.
for the gmk pro tho I dont have one but from what ive seen its very stiff so the gasket mount is basically usless, and its sound profile is kinda deap and muted but also kinda clacky?
isnt that a keycap set or am I mistaken
No its the board
me
oh
Its live on mykeyboard
ah
I’ve been considering picking up the Logitech G915 TKL sometime soon. Is this a good pick for a wireless keyboard or would you guys recommend something else? (I’m looking for a 80% or 100% wireless, mechanical keyboard, preferably with multi media buttons.)
No logitech is trash
I had a g915 tkl and I was happy for abit but now that im into keybaords and know alot more I hate it, if you want low profile look at the keychron lowprofile smthn, Ill find it in just a sec
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k1-se-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=39652026351705
Keychron K1 SE is an ultra-slim wireless mechanical keyboard. With low profile Gateron or Keychron Optical red, blue, brown, banana, mint switches. Wireless and type-c wired mode. Mac layout, compatible with Mac, Windows. Aluminum frame. 18 types of RGB backlight included white LED.
or if you dont care about low profile I'd look in to full sized keyboards, Leopold makes good stock boards, keychron c1 has been pretty good for a more budget option
Cool, I dont really care about low profile so I will look into the ones you suggested, Thanks for the help
alr np, just another recommendation, I'd get hotswap if possible in case you ever wanna get different switches down the road
Good to know, thanks
oh wait did you care for wireless?
I mean it's something that would be nice to have, but it is not something I absolutely need
yea you were my bad, one sec those arent wireless
nw
dont have any personal experince nor do ik to much about this board so do your own research https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k8-tenkeyless-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=32018252988505
Keychron K8 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. Tenkeyless Layout. Wireless or Wired. and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Keychron Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
will do, thanks again
thats kinda all I got havent looked at many wireless options
$$$$
Not to bad $ 247cnd to my door.
It shortens the total travel by the thickness of the oring and also makes it more or less mushy depending of the density of the oring ... also dampens the down stroke a bit
Silent switches are better than switches with orings
Never tried orings on the pcb and I don't intend to
Oh I see
Yeah I was looking for the complete build cause I really like the keycaps ... but it would be more like 290 $ last time I checked so it's a no go ...
Will get a akko board at some point and that's about it
1 oring doesn't do much
2 works way better at dampening
I have to use 2 if I even want to play games at night
o-rings doesn't dampen the sound much ... I know
still doesn't dampen the upstroke
the upstroke isn't loud to begin with unless if you slide your finger off the key
still it's never as quiet as silent switches
but I guess o-rings are ok if the board is soldered and someone don't want to desolder ..
also it mostly depend of the thickness and density of the o-ring ...
I was talking about dif o rings
That go around the pcb
Yes i know ... never tried that and don't intend to
it really is
Hey, I am really considering getting this keyboard that you recommended to me, not completely loving the look of the keycaps though. Do you know of a good place to look for different ones that would work with this keyboard?
you could take a look at the keycaps keychron them selves have, or theres some on kenetic labs that are good, other than that I barelly know were to get keycaps myself
oh wait thats the low profile one
ik you can get them on keychrons website, Im sure theres other places you can get them but Im not sure where
alright, i'll look around, thanks again
I just realized keychron doesn't make low profiles, thats confident
just curious, is it the whole color scheme or just the orange esc you don't like?
wdym they don't
do they? I thought I went through there options, none of them looked low profile
what's your definition of low profile? like apple keyboard?
.
compatible with there lowprofile lineup
nvm
what you mean is that the low profile gateron is compatible with the normal mx style switches?
wouldnt cherry profile keycaps look, feel weird on a lowprofile board?
this is what it looks like
aint bad
its just gonna feel weird imo
idrk anything about low profile boards so im not sure, hiro was originally gonna get a low profile board so I suggested the only lowprofile board I know
oh yea that actaully looks pretty good
it was the orange escape key, but looking closer it appears that it also comes with a grey escape key so imma just use that I think
yes keychon includes a non orange escape
they do that to all there boards for some reason
Yeah, it's odd, but as long as I can swap out the orange then it's all good
im 90% sure i'll have a non orange key, ive owned 3 keychron boards and they've all included regular colored esc's
I'm pretty sure it does as well as it is in the picture here along with a few other keys they must also include
oh yea it defiantly does
shows my bad lubing before lmao
yea its real nice its not that high pitch sound profile anymore just by properly lubing it lmao
but ill see if its still the same once the lube is already broken in
and ive been more careful when lubing so that i can do it consistently
Nice nice
Is this a thing you can buy or is this a diy project?
I'm intrigued lmao
thats a diy kit
PRODUCT DETAIL: Tentaku is a DIY Calculator Keyboard Kit, it requires soldering all the electric parts. In order to complete, some parts (switches/keycaps/AAAbattery) must be purchased separately. What is Tentaku?Tentaku is designed by A&N Laboratory, it is super dope and one of the coolest looking calculator in the
It's like a ducky pocket V 2.0
Oh that's convenient, probably will try doing it first tho
https://www.amazon.com/Macally-Bluetooth-Number-Accounting-Calculator/dp/B088LQ3JK4/ There is also this kinda shit

I wanna make one of these
That looks pretty cool
Those keycaps tho, they look so cheap with that shine through
Thankfully
rk61?
even if you get reddragon, outemu sockets fit akko switches which is plenty for most sooo
At the end you can get a gk61x
🌽 gang
🪱 gang too
the acrylic one looks really nice
ya
long time no see then
:3!!
they all stacked acrylic
i know it's all preference, but anyone got suggestions for thocky, tactile switches, on a budget?
any good keyboard suggestion for gaming/programming around 100/150
what layout?
I really need to finish some boards. the wife wants the dining table back..
one at a time man lmao
ah
I've been hearing alot of people through around akkos name lately, what's everyone's thoughts on there keycaps?
Qwerty i guess im spanish
no I mean like full sized, 80%, 70%, etc
Lubed Ajazz Kiwi
Ajazz Banana, Ajazz Kiwi, Aflion Ink
FFFF, Kinetic Labs Salmon, Durock Cerulean
Kinetic Lab Salmon imo are the worst of the 3 "super sharp" tactiles I have
Aflion > Kiwi > Salmon
Ah that's unfortunate, what do t you like about it?
feels like Box navies
the downstroke
Ah
Ah
but still super sharp compared to say a JWK like the FFFF and the cerulean
I see, have you tried there penguin switch?
tbh I have a keyboard with salmons and the switch quality is a big yikes
so like I wouldn't get anything from Klabs
but no, I have not tried any Klabs switch other than the salmons
Ah
And like Ajazz Kiwi is I think almost 20% of the price of a Salmon
I have the penguins and I actually quite like them, granted they have some spring ping, but If I took the time to lube the springs I think it would go away
I mean Klabs makes ok switches
They've been alr for me, granted I haven't tried a large variety of switches
Yeah they're fine but for the price, there are way way way better options
I see, what would you consider a better option?
Personally I enjoyed the Ajazz Diced Kiwi and Aflion Inks more
Ah, haven't heard of them
Im buying the rk84, its my first mechanical keyboard, i chose the one with brown switches, is it okay ?
Yeah I guess it's ok ... anyway if you don't like the switches you can just swap them out
i see, what kind of switch should be good?
are Gateron Pro Milky Yellows good enough?
Go with Ajazz Diced Fruit @prime spire
Banana is Tactile, Kiwi is heavier Tactile, and Peach is Linear
are they pre lubed? i dont have a lot of time to lube them myself
pre-lubed does not help at all tbh but yes, they do have factory lube
alright, ill wait for it to be shipped here, its probably gonna take a few days th
ah i see
i bought some akko cs lavender purple switches, theyre really nice compared to the gat browns i had before
Those are probably my favorite akko that I have
anywhere good that i could buy used keyboard parts for cheaper?
i would guess maybe there is like a reddit or discord group or somethin?
I havent heard of such a place
for my first build?
idk about the keycaps
why?
I dont really like getting keycaps off of amazon, they're usually pretty bad, its shipped and sold by lehaha, which I personally dont like buying items that arnt shipped by amazon
I have 3 keycap sets from amazon that are decent. I can link them if you'd like
?
or you can go with the ones you found, but they probably ship from china and will take abit to arrive
sure
whats the links

yea that last link idk why but i dont like it
I dont really like them eaither
thye look odd idk why tho
but I did a build for a friend and thats what they wanted
doesnt have any reviews, and that price seems oddly low
anyone willing to sell me a 75% keyboard? looking to buy...dm me
there's a diff color called LZAKAYA Keycaps which are actually pretty nice on the last link, aside from a warped spacebar @shut flame
yeah so im getting one of these https://www.amazon.com.au/Keychron-Mechanical-Keyboard-Hot-swappable-Backlight/dp/B08CN9LVT4/
some gateron milky yellows and a coiled cable.
just need to find some keycaps that have windows and mac icons on them
ohh you want both on the same cap
yeah
Keychron c2 is a pretty nice full sized board, good choice
yeah i need full size. didnt wanna go with a tkl and have an external numpad
Something like this?
SDYK caps are decently thick, no light bleed, but spacebar is often warped and needs to be bent with hot water
yeah but less round and less japanese.
OEM profile works for you?
yeah sure. never built a keyboard before
like do you have a preferred keycap profile
sculpted or not, height, etc.
Personally I'm an XDA user
large touch surface and no sculpting
i dont really care. i use different keyboards all the time.
it's really wack since most of these types of keycaps have japanese on it for some reason
might just have to go with windows keycaps and get used to the mac layout on the keyboard. thanks for you help though
hello, i didnt know theres a channel here for keyboards yesterday 👀
can anyone help me? im trying to find a keyboard thats smaller than full sized, maybe tkl, is quiet, and preferably with lightning but not needed
i want 2 things from a keyboard and its literaly non existent
if dell made this but tkl id be in heaven
Get a keychron and put some silent switches in there
which is more silent, red or brown?

but they sell a bundle of switches
why must there be such a big market for keyboards with nothing really in it🥲
Dats expensive
Go look at keygem I'd suggest
i think im just gonna start ordering keyboards and trying them out and then returning them
Just get a switch tester
i think ill have to buy the orings and then a random mechanical keyboard
why is nobody mad at this market practice?
buy a good keyboard but its trademark is that it goes click clack click clack and if you want it silent then spend more money to not make it click clack click clack, and there so alternative to a good non click clack click clack silent keyboard
we truly live in a society
yk, if u buy orings it either will not be the "silent" type that u want or will either be mushy and will probably feel like a membrane (which solely depends on the oring thickness), if i were u just buy a membrane tkl or invest in silent switches 😉
i would buy amembrane tkl. if anyonemade and sold one
how much should one pay to get their switches lubed and stuff?
https://m.alza.sk/steelseries-apex-3-tkl-us-d6859105.htm this is the only tkl membrane keyboard that comes up when i tick tkl and membrane in the shop. and it would be cool, but its not membrane, just has an anti dust\spill membrane and has switches

probably 2 dollars per 10 switches for lubing maybe 3 max but tbh if u pay over 2 dollars per 10 switch for a lubing service ur getting ripped off
Those are not silent switches
Oring only do half the job
You want cherry silent red, kailh silent box pink, kailh silent box brown, aliaz silent, boba and such
thx, ill try to find these
ill be doing cable management 2.0 today
is there a channel here for cable management?
not really but you can ask in the tech chats or tech support channels
i wanted to show off 👀
ah gotcha
thanks mate!
WOOTING TWO: is anybody else having this issue on linux (arch)...when u go into standby mode and turn your pc back on again the wooting kb stays black, no leds on and clicked keys r ONLY sometimes recognised
for my first "build"
ill prob get diffrent key caps but not right now
for me its 70 cad
if you dont care about low profile or wireless you can save some money on the keychron c1
ill still look more into it, i see me buying a keyboard in like 2 months soonest
i kinda want a low profile
i thought any would be ok, but i got my keyboard in a
like this
it doesnt have much room for high profile
but i think i definately want red switch
high profiles arent actually that high but fair enough
yea said you wanted a silent switch right?
at first i thought id get this, bcs option for red silent switches
yeah
i live in a one room flat with gf
reds or browns arnt very loud
yes but browns are annoying
how so?
not really
they are not as loud as clickies
i dont like how they feel, they sound like shit and ugly
but in the grand scheme of thing its still pretty loud
there are better tactiles out there that are quite cheap
feel is preference but I agree for most stock tactiles, tactiles sound fine in my opinion, they look the same as any other switch
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B097P391VF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A31XCF3C216O31&th=1 these arnt to loud
tactiles are great, i use them everywhere. but i just really hate how browns feel and sound and i think a lot of people would agree with me
oh you were talking about specifically browns by bad
ah lol
no im with you browns are terrible
i loooove tactiles
yep

no
i thought they felt bad and then i went to a custom build with anubis switches and then i was like
logitech g915 is terrible
huh
nope nope nope nope nope
VERY overpriced, your paying for the brand
anyone of you from europe?
know any good website for good keyboards?
not really bad just a tad exspensive
because shipping from america would be 40€ minimum
its pretty bad
not really, just moved here a year ago and i'm only using parts i already had
I used one for 2 years

keychron ships world wide I think
ooh
yea, but for 24$
yea
i mean, i really want a good keyboard so i think when time comes ill bite and order it
my work board is a keychron full size with silent black inks and an infinikey set
most keybaord sites have insane shipping, you're gonna have to get used to it
but i wa na know if theres a better alternative
yep
the sad truth is, there really isnt
for the most part
also, if logitech makes you mad...
the keychron k8?

what about this?
they dont, but the g915 is not good, dont waste your money on that
o h
my brother has it, i dont like it
then why would you get it
but my brother is 12
cheap boards like that suck, and the RGB gets tiring

apex 3 huh
this shop doesnt have so deep sortiment of keyboards
I have a keychron q1 - very good AFTER modding, not good stock
keychorn c1/2 decent stock would recommend
havent tried very many other stock boards
wdym modding?
keychrons are always nice ONCE you mod them 100%
yea
how do you mod a keyboard?
stuff to the stabs, switch lubing/swaps
lubing, adding foams or other sound dampenign materials to the case, and much more
huh
welcome to the rabbithole
interesting, so the switch is not the only sound thing
really depends, its more of a enthusiast thing to do
i dont want a rabbit hope i just want a keyboard 😭
thats 35cm wide, low profile and mostly quiet
oh but there is always a rabbithole
keychron c1/2 is good
any other baord you look at make sure you do your own research
and i thought russian music is a deep rabbit hope
and worldwide shipping to wherever you are in the EU
yeah also that
gimme a sec
lit would be also nice, but now that i remade my cable management
if you want lowprofile keychrone's are the only ones I would recommend
ight, so ill look more into them
c1\2?
they want a low profile

ok well i gtg
oh god
ngl thats absolutely beautiful
thats all I got, but do some reassert I dont have a k1 so I cant tell you much other than whats on there product page
yea~
i was looking at this an hour ago, but ive no clue whats the difference between optical and mechanical, but mechanical sounded more quiet
but i dont see a price
yep drop is a grear site imo
the difference is in how each type of switches register your input
optical uses light and mechanical uses a mechanical switch, I'd just get the mechanical one
808kr, roughly 90USD
the mechanical one uses 2 contact plates that when touch close the circuitry
the optical one uses a beam of infrared and a light resistor, with the switch stem having a slot for the light to go through. when you push the switch down, the slot opens and let the infrared beam to go through, hit the light resistor and close the circuit
i would not really recommend the enter
theres the hexgears supernova for the same price as the entr
and it packs more features
actually, kono store has a decent in stock boards option here
never heard of kono
pretty reputable keyboard parts store
ah
im going to have to try if non low profile keyboard fits good
do you have a tape measure?
because that drop entr green looks absolutely perfect 👌
yeah
but i want to see it and try it out practically
ah fair enough
im gonna do it tommorow, because i got my other keyboard in the basement
and its 2:30 am
thank god i dont have to work tommorow 👀
lmao nice.
yeah
ltt bot not accepting me posting many pictures
:c
im especially proud of this loop
and the rgb strip
nice nice
and this is near the case
btw based on that picture I'd think you'd be able to fit a full sized comfortably
i added the 2nd extention cord today, because i wanted to add the led strip and i want to ass a third monitor someday
not really, not enough room for mouse
i mean, i tried to game with it tilted 45 degrees today and it was usable, but id rather have a tkl
nono I mean like non low profile
just got myself a model m
wait i have a woreless big profile i can try out
thats 🔥
spring buckling?
yes
whats the appeal? I dont see what the big deal with those are
i think dell is making wode bois and that my wireless isnt big profile
its clicky
if you have a tape handy my keyboard is 7/8's of an inch at the highest point and I think the drop entr is lower
Model m buckling springs come from the key literally slapping the contacts on the membrane unlike modern blue switches where it’s just for feel, that’s why on mx blues you can hover the mouse just below the reset point and press the key several times without clicking them
how much in cm?
ah, so its all about the feel mostly
8 cm
Yeah they have a unique feel and the keyboard is built like a tank
it would probably closer to 3/4's of an inch
the low prof is about the same as 7\8inch
you have a larger gap than my desk does
ah makes sense
again, i dont recommend the drop entr for the price
i guess you are from the us?
given that you can get the entr?
I think so, you have a 8 incch gap and I have a 3 1/2 inch gap
eu I think
huh
8 cm gap
then getting one would be painful with drop hideous international shipping
User replaceable cables too
yeaaaa
realistically speaking getting any drop product from outside the us would be a pain to deal with
theres this one
prob something similar to this
thats my gateron yellow, an undampened linear
phone mic, about 20cm off the table
quite loud
yea
linear and tactile are quieter in comparisons with clicky switches
in comparisons with rubber domes, they are still pretty loud
i think i wanted low profile bcs theyre more quiet?
yea
a side effect of low profile switches
i miss my old keyboard, but it was loud
the keys has a shorter travel distance, so they dont have as much energy to hit the bottom housing of the switch like with current full size switches
yeah
https://youtu.be/CGqG9ZU5xMg?t=616
another example, tho this one with a different board

not the one that you prob gonna buy but still a good general indication of the level of loudness a low profile board typically made
yeah thats a good video section
im gonna go with low profile
is there a cherry red silent low profile switch?
nope
they only have undampened low profile red and silver
i dont think theres any dampened low profile switches so far on the market
your opinion on this?
its a fine option low profile wise
I mean if your worried about sound you could get the c1 or somthn similar and use the saved money on silent switches
i have to step away from keyboards for a while im getting overwhelmed by all of the info again
but jesus yall helped me so much today
prob because the yields for low profile switch parts are lower than those current full height
also, the c1 doesnt have a hotswap option
so that will cut the cost down
c1 has hotswap'
so buy a keyboard and exchange the switches for silent switches?
oh wait fuck
brain not working
lmao
yea
thats the common route
thats an option yea
anything that uses the cherry mx design will fit
huh
you cant swap in say alps skcm into the kailh hotswap socket that most hotswap board uses
basically any switch you might want to use will fit
so if i were to buy the c1 i can buy a bundle of red silent and put them there
yep
huh
but where do i get red silent
or is there a 100% silent switch?
or a more silent switch
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOW18xnbvBo&t=480s
heres a demo on how silent switches will sound
Skip to 8:00 for a typing demonstration.
Get it here: https://mykeyboard.eu/catalogue/leopold-fc900r-black-red-font-pd-ansi-mx-silent-red_650/
Today we look at a silent keyboard! My first look at a Leopold, as well as the first video on Cherry MX Silent switches. Hope you enjoy! :)
My keyboard reviews: http://bit.ly/1TbOtft
My switch teardowns...
ofc, the loudness of the board will depends on the chassis that those are mounted on
but again, this is a good indication
uhm keychron might have silents which could either save you money with shipping or cost more, depends what keychron prices are
https://candykeys.com/category:mechanical-keyboards/brand:all/keyboard-size:tkl/colors:all/switches:all/led:all/layout:all/stock:in-stock
candykeys is an eu based shop and they have a lot of options for you
id rather bet safely on a good and silent keyboard straight away than to regret not spending 10e more for a bteer version
im sorry but my body craves sleep so much
i gotta go already
yea
have a good night
dont worry about the keyboard too much yet
interesting
The new board I got, Leopold fc660m “vapor”. Gonna solder some lubed zealios v2 on tomorrow
thats an interesting color scheme
ohh lmao
The keyboard looks more orange and the shirt looks more pink tbh
Yea in person its a more saturated pink, my lamp was sort of skewing the color
YES! I wish LTT would include lesser known brands like leopold, varmillo, filco, HHKB, etc in their keyboard roundups. Loads of good value and room to customize in the market niche those companies target
I love the keycap texture on the leopolds, I will say though I got cherry MX clears (the real tactile cherry switch) and they are scratchy
they are too mainstream for that tbh
Idk maybe, but Id like to see some coverage that falls between the ASUS/Corsair/Logitech keyboard reviews and "super expensive mechanical keyboard". Even if they just did a one off roundup of the keyboards that fall in that bracket
Wait when? I looked and looked
they've done keychron I think thats the farthest they've gone
Yea I really like keychron, great entry mech boards at a steal of a price
yea
leopold 1800? You mean 980?
after owning 3 keychrons I'd highly recommend
Oh I didnt know that
I have a 980 and that 660 I just posted. I love the 980 but its got linears in it and im not too big on those
I keep telling myself the next one I get will be the fc660c or HHKB
Just bought a new keybord
interesting choice
The basilisk just looks so cool tho
idk a thing about mice so I wouldnt know
I just liked the side buttons and how it felt. Also it has plenty of RGB to boost performance.
oh ofc rbg
Ikr.
I got one for Christmas, it's a cool mouse
IMO when shopping for mice/keyboards you basically have to feel them first. In Australia we have a shop called PLE computers where you can straight up use the keyboards and mice there to play games on the display PCs.
Oh cool
I've never really had a decent mouse before the basilisk, so I was just happy that it was better than my previous mice
I'd never tried anything before it
Not my favorite prebuilt tbh
why?
It's just a generic north facing LED + aluminum plate prebuilt @tame adder
i like the simplicity
what keyboard do you like?
im very new to this and it took me 3 days and a disscution in this channel and a suggestion to find at least this 1 that i like
EPOMAKER K870T
@tame adder
https://www.amazon.com/EPOMAKER-K870T-Swappable-Bluetooth-Mechanical/dp/B09129F9K4/ref=sr_1_9
Just turn off the RGB if you don't like it
But you get volume wheel
and basically the same specs
but it also has bluetooth
it looks a bit cheaper
but im sorry i dont like it
and amazon shipping is like 40€ for me :c
you are using the ansi layout right?
btw hes not from the usa
oh then big oof
Yeah, you'll need to switch out the switches on the drop one then
167$ with shipping jesus
the one with the long thin enter key as opposed to the fat short iso enter key
https://www.maxgaming.com/en/pc-accessories/keyboard-accessories
@tame adder these people ship to you?
but i also like the ň key next to the § key, not above it
im gonna take a look
yeah, shipping is 10
that nice
https://www.maxgaming.com/en/switches/box-silent-brown-switch-10-pack
they also sell switches so you compare
imma look into that
Max Gaming is the EU distributor so I'd just pick a keeb from them @tame adder
Pickup an LGG Saturn too or something lol
They also have plenty of cool mousepads
if i want to switch keys, i need 87 keys for a tkl
Artisans, Aqua Control, etc
but they sell a 10 pack
you buy 9 packs of 10 each
how many i need?
you can buy 10 packs for extra but imo for box switches unecessary
so i dont have to cut corners and not change 7 of the not used ones
I mean most of their keyboards have 0 switches
i would like a cool mouse pad, but none is cooler than my...
yeah if i had to order custom all from that site id be financially ruined
Didnt bring my 60% HHKB i got no bag hahahaha
Jelly Epoch Ruby
MW PBT015 Ichigo x Zero Sky
Ok, question.
I'm looking for a keyboard with switches that are either Cherry Browns or feel like cherry browns in the under 175 USD price range
I don't need any rgb's or anything fancy, just a nice keyboard
leopold is right up your alley
Keychron c1/2 or Leopold
It’s called a down-shift
The quiet part will only depend of he switches you put in there ... drop board a way too expensive for what they offers imo
Durgod fusion ... the only downside is that it's not hotswappabke and I can't get rid of the cherry brown in there without desoldering and soldering new switches
For when you play racing games ;)
Exactly
My brother gave me this unsure of what to do with it
where's its twin
half ergobox clone pcb
ergodox
ok so first of all clean the pcb with air
There isn't shit loose on it
Yes I just have to plug my display cables back in
Well I think there's sum wrong with my gpu riser lmfao
It unplugged
how does you vertical mount just get unplugged
hi what keyboard do you use right now? im looking for a new tkl keyboard, do you any tips? wireless is nice but not so necessary, i looked on keybords from brands like logitech, corsair, varmilo, keychron, ducky, steelseries etc. Would be awsome with some tips! 🙂 //Guy from Sweden
keychron c1 is my only stock tkl board its pretty decent for the price
its not wireless tho
it must not be wireless or tkl, it can be smaller or larger but not a full size keyboard 🙂
theres like a million options
I removed my gpu
And most likely I didn't plug it in correctly
ok thanks for the help 🙂
also your might be intrested in leopold boards
