Thats the last one I have on my list and it's even more of an unknown
Logitech makes some but i dont know the cost
that one is very cheap
It's mechanical, that I know
I don't think it's Hotswap, but it could be a good entry level board
the difference between that and what you would get at $50 then is pretty small
I asked somewhere else and they said redragon
I've heard of it, just not familiar
If it has the swtiches you want and all the features you need, then it should be okay. As long as people aren't calling it a scam
well in Bulgaria thats more like 20usd
which is like 38 lev or so
and I want to get a keyboard twice that money
redragon is an entry level brand ...
you should save at least enough for a keychron or something along those lines
they are like twice as expensive tho
my keyboard rn is an aula adjudication which I have owned for like 3 years or something
maybe longer
it just sounds bad and its very loud
when not pressing any key
well you should save for a better board and that's about it ... or get a redragon
I am getting a redragon
does anyone know if this seller actually sells Anne pro 2s?
because it looks like they sell Anne Pro2's
Get kemove shadow instead
why?
Its hotswap and modular
i dont plan on swapping the switches cherry is good enough for me
*gateron but yea
It also sounds better, anne pro 2 is pretty good too
But the shadow is cheaper too iirc
yeah but how much is a set of cherry browns?
The shadow has browns
Do it got a metal backplate doe
Anyone know where i can find chrome/silver keycaps?
Does anybody recommend any keycaps that I can like see the rgb in my keyboard. like transport letters on the keycaps.
Pudding keycaps
it's better than the anne pro 2
Anne pro 2 is really not a good value when you consider about any other 60% keyboard
You guys might find this interesting: I just posted the first in a series of tutorials about how to make analog keyboard PCBs (in Kicad)... https://youtu.be/TfKz_FbZWLQ
This is part one of my video series all about making analog hall effect keyboards (using Kicad). In this video I cover how to setup your Kicad project and make the schematic. In the next video I'll cover how to lay out the PCB. Here's the relevant links from the video:
https://github.com/riskable/void_switch_kicad
https://github.com/riskable...
Hopefully it'll get more people making analog keyboards (because it's such an awesome technology) 👍
Ayyyy hello riskable, u know that 65 key thing u made open sourse? How do I order it and make it work?
Id love to build it with the 3d printed switches but I have no clue how
thok artisans
also esc lab 00 artisans on mechmarket
are there any cheap wireless 60%? Like, 60-70 bucks territory. Preferably red or brown switches
prob rk61?
rk61 is ur best bet
Guys which do u prefer Red switches or brown switches
what i prefer will not work for you 100%.
you should try both yourself and come to your own conclusion
red for games, non-Cherry-like tactile/clicky for typing
But try for yourself first before buying anything
Well at the end of the tutorial I'll have a whole lot to say about ordering a preassembled PCB from JLCPCB
epic
I need a bit of help with a laptop keyboard
The shift key fell off and im not sure how to reattach it since the small metal bar thing is complicated
i've never seen such an expensive integrated plate keyboard
how does it feel to type on lol
Its a dream. Probably one of my favorite purchases for my setup so far
Yeah I can send a video and its 80g
I don’t have a set on it right now but I will throw a few keys on it for ya
clean stabs 👌
Thank you
is an outemu uh red switches
Bought a new Keychrone K8 keyboard. hot swappable, gateron brown switrches, RGB backlight, aluminium frame, tenkeyless.
i'd say, don't get outemus if you can help it. Or at least be prepared to lubricate them.
But yes, they have the red variety
anyone know a good 80-100$ keyboard?
Depends what you want, but I like the vortex core rgb
ah, a 40% user i see
does anyone know if the tm680 supports iso? its seems like a really affordable board with everything i need but iso
it doesnt support iso
well thats annoying... thanks anyway
My new custom keyboard (GX64XS, Kailh Box Jades, Japanese themed key caps (just ordered them of Amazon as looked nice))
box jades
atleast they're not blues
Jade are great
box clickies are based
^
Not on the level of some of this stuff... but I put in an order for the Ducky One 3 TKL in Daylight (with MX Silver switches).
Figure this is a big step up from the "world of Corsair" that I'm leaving behind.
well you'll have hotswap so you can try different switches without having to solder
Yea, I like that...though I've actually had Silvers before, and like them the most out of what I've had (Razor "green"?, MX Brown, MX Red, MX Silver)
Being able to just grab a new bag of switches is a cool feature though
How broadly compatible is that socket?
works with basically every MX-style switch
I remember LTT having a switch testing video a shile ago with a bunch of brands. "MX Style" doesn't mean I'm limited only to switches made by Cherry, right?
yes
k
https://drop.com/talk/8455/mechanical-keyboard-switches-101-mx-style-switches
I see my qauestions have answers, if I only look 😉
I think I broke my keyboard 😣
Might be finally the push I need to buy a custom tho
If I can't fix this
what happened?
Spilled a glass of water on it
Unplug, don't use, set aside and let it dry for days... better yet pull the caps and do that...
Could have sworn this keyboard was spillproof but these things are hit or miss ig
If it's just water, and you don't use it when wet it'll probably be fine
Unplug NOW
It is unplugged dw
Source:
<==has lost multiple keyboards due to them developing a "drinking problem"...have also resurected a few
Hopefully I don't lose this one 🙏
water isn't bad if you just wait for it to fully dry before using again...beer, that can be a sticky mess
Spilled a white claw on it and it was fine actually, just very, very sticky
Should probably invest in a sippy cup
Nice keycaps
I'd get those if they had letter transparency
Does anyone know what the issue is with my keyboard? I am currently having a problem with certain keys being typed twice when I only pressed it once. For example: every now and then my "2" key can put an input of three 2s instead of one, this has slowly started spreading to other keys like "B". I have cleaned my keyboard btw. Is there something I am glossing over and if anyone has a recommendation I am open ears to hear.
anyone else got the razer huntsman v2 analog? i got a thing where literally just one key is not detecting the pressing. (in case it helps i took a screenshot of the key tester i used)
there’s a way to change keyboard settings for multiple key presses iirc
you can add a delay in between the first key press and the repeat letters that come from holding it
They got a few switches
What a waste of craftmanship skills and organization skills...
That literally is too much for what is just a bunch of buttons on a board.
Sure you can get fancy with the keyboards and all... but to literally focus on just that and get to.... Whatever point hes at
i understand having a few boxes of switches at your disposal but this is just excessive.
Well if he sells custom keyboards it makes sense or does yt otherwise too much yeah
yea like holy frick
true
Can anyone recommend a sample set like this? Or know of anywhere online that’s a better option? The only custom pc shop in 40 miles doesn’t have anything other than Corsair keyboards and I wanna find out what switches to get for my new kb
just get a kbdfans sampler
as a comment said, you can actually start a retail store with that
yea can earn while enjoying what ur doing so win win ngl
I am looking for a mech. keyboard without the useless bullshit like RGB. Do you guys have any recommendation?
Sounds like the definition of leopold keyboards
most keyboard will do you fine
you can just browse mk and fine a keyboard you like
Could just disable the backlighting
Buy what feels good, and just turn off the lights.
reminds me of my brother when he was looking for a cell phone but didnt want a camera. Just fuvking buy a cell phone
It lives!
DAS makes some nice stuff that's all pretty basic and stripped down.
I have 2 of the Model S Professional, one for home and one for work and I have no complaints. No RGB, no macro keys. Most complex thing is the fn layer media controls. I like that they just make the boards super solid and don't bother with much else.
Also, if you watch the right places you can get them for cheap, I got mine with blues in it for $42 brand new
yeah I have a das, it's good, I used it in the office when I went to an office
I need to wash my RK87, it's sticky 😦
I ordered a new keyboard, because I have a problem.
does anybody know about a good 60% keyboard for gaming 70$ price range and lower
i just ordered the world's cheapest mechanical keyboard and mouse setup
no clue how bad it will be
Hmmm
Gamakay k61, kemove snowfox/shadowfox?
I don't expect anyone here to know, but I'm gonna try anyways:
Do you guys know of any Choc-keycaps with less-than-standard Y spacing? I'd be willing to 3D print them if they're not available for purchase
This is pretty niche, but finding an STL file I could print would be nice I guess
ill check it out
Most keyboards have few to no macro keys. But what if you want a LOT of macro keys? Like, 87 of them? Well, you can, with this keyboard mod!

Intel link: ht...
What's the big keyboard on the right he has
Corne cool
I found it most comfortable to use 1.25u on the thumb keys
Rotated 90deg to yours
Oof, high profile Corne
it was cheaper
idk get a rk61
ill think about both i guess
i've been interested in the dierya dk61e red switch
is that any good?
what is that
never heard of it
almost the same thing
most 60% in that price range will be of the same quality. if the reviews say it lasts and it has the features you need go ahead
otherwise I'd recommend the gamakay just for the hot swap and nice features
nice!
love the cord lol
i got rgb working but the qmk hex is too big with underglow oops
L
which would you recommend for the lowest sound and build quality dk61e or the rk61?
they're the same
plastic case 60% with the same oem and similar switches will not have that much in terms of difference
pick whatever's cheapest and has things like hotswap and reliable reviews but hotswap isn't a necessity if you don't plan tk mod anyway
oh ok thanks i guess ill go with the cheaper one
Anyone in need of a "Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 - RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Ergonomic Wrist Rest - Tactile & Silent Razer Orange Switches" ?
Used for a bit but mainly for gaming, and only for a few months on and off
Would be interested in trading it for something
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N1SJ9IZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this is the link for more tech specs
@chrome raft , I don't see that channel? Can you link it
Maybe I have limited access?
its a subreddit, the server is just an offshoot
you will have a higher chance of a successful trade on hardware exchange
its a subreddit
new keyboard smell 😄
Mmmmmmmm MOAR MACROS
is there any workaround for non-hotswap blue switch keyboard to atleast reduce the noise?
Anyone know what the big keyboard is called though
Can anybody psl tell me or send me soem good keyboards i need a new one ( not to expensive pls )
There's no way that even remotely close to specific enough for anyone to give you suggestions lol
@fringe maple budget, do you like tactile or linear, want
or not, any must haves?
rgb would be good
and my budget is 0 - 80
Whst layout do you want?
Space65 r2
It's over budget tho
@fringe maple try keychron something
what u mean with layout
does it need long to deliever to germany
dumb question but how can i get that pen in the background it looks really nice
It was a photo from google, not mine, I'm broke asf
nooooooo i finally found a nice pen
I'm broke broke. Not broke rtx 2060 broke
i'm i sold my 2080 for a 3080 and got a 3060
I have fallen into enough things that can get me a 10K debt, not going into a pen enthusiast rabbit hole
oh god im not either i just wanted a nice heavy pen
Check out heavy pen on Amazon
oh my god why didnt i just do this earlier
im gonna buy thsi one with black switches now
Oh yeah sounds like a good one. That one IS prebuilt right?
Seems like it
Yeah go for it
but what colour
i think red or white
cuz i haev a japanese blossomt tree themed desk
Can you take a photo if you don't mind?
I'd like to see
Assuming you're talking about the case, as of right now, I think white would be nice, but it's completely up to you
i cant
It's fine. I personally would go for white, but it doesn't really matter

pen group buy go brrrrrrrrrrrr
I am having an issue with my kemove shadow
some times key input are stuck (i.e. key isnt stuck but my previous input is repeated several times)
I am also sometimes getting issue with delayed input or input not being received
check your switch pins
and your pcb
since your keeb is hotswap
is there is no bent pins or damage to the pcb, open up the switch
check is battery is connected
I am using it wired
this happens to different various keys
unless several pins happen to bend within 2 months this is doubtful
I am worried that I might damage something if I open it up tbh
I also heard reinserting removed switches doesnt set them back as they was
trust me you wont damadge
just unscrew the top case and the bottom case
and remove it carefully
there might be battery cable
so be careful
Hello, new to the server here. I am seeking some help, I couldn't think of a better place to come... Corsair Tech Support have sent me a firmware which has bricked my K70 MK2 keyboard in attempt to help with another issue (oh the sweet irony). Does anyone have a working keyboard of this model that could send me their firmware.bin file from its CRP_DISABLED drive?
Works now. No idea why. Will keep an eye out for the repeated character issue and if it happens again will open and check
wait can't you just use device manager
like uninstal the firmware
check if you keyboard is qmk/via compatible
qmk
the firmware is stored on the hardware, the keyboard offers a drive to copy it to when it is plugged in with a paper clip pushed into the button under one of the feet.
what does it have to do with paper clip
what does device manager have to do with a keyboards firmware, firmware is not a driver.
oh ok
so I basically received a firmware .bin file from them, to copy over to the keyboards storage (when you plug it in and press a button underneath, it offers a drive in explorer). I did this under their instruction. Except it is not working, and they haven't sent me a previous firmware version to put it back in a working state.
So I figured that if someone else could access this firmware file from their working keyboard of the same model, they could perhaps send me it and I can copy it to mine
it's a known issue...
https://forum.corsair.com/forums/topic/166467-k70-mk2-not-working-after-firmware-bin-reset/
Hi, few days ago one led wasnt working anymore so I contacted the corsair support which they advised me to do a firmware reset (they sent me the file K70_MK.2_3.24_ISP.bin) but after that, the keyboard is not working anymore, the keys and neither the leds are working on iCue the device is recogni...
iCue gets to 3% and fails after this firmware version provided by Corsair.
it does not work unfortunately, holding the ESC key down usually does a reset which I have performed before, but in its current state, there's no firmware running on it to respond to any such operation by the looks of things haha
so there are two firmware update methods, 1. via iCue or 2. manual update. It used to work via iCue, now after I did this manual update it wont work via iCue. 😄
try this
that, my friend is iCue, it is also from softpedia, I don't trust anything that hasn't come from a responsible source
ok
but you're right I could try a later version of iCue (v4 perhaps, it was completely redesigned at that version). It just seems to me that the issue is isolated to the keyboard, where the current software installed previously could communicate with it.
yeah I'll update the version on 3 at first then move to 4 if it doesn't work.
Could really do with a working firmware bin file from somewhere but that's just hoping
oh my god you are my hero
why isnt windows detecting f9 f10 f12 keys from my keyboard? they only get detected if i press the function key. (keyboard is Razer Huntsman V2 Analog)
so i kinda fixed it by spamming gaming mode on and off but after the f keys get fixed it breaks other keys
check your mappings?
i reset all of the settings possible that could affect the keyboard
still some keys dont work
For a fairly used razer huntsman mini (linear). Am I low-balling this guy? $10 shipping btw.
I don't want him to be offended lol
Doesn’t seem half bad. Definitely not a low-ball.
Worst he can do is reject the offer, or make a counteroffer. It’s not like you’re offering $5
my latest project, forgot to take more photos of it though.
My brother needed a new keyboard and wanted a TKL but he apparently likes clicky switches. The K70 RGB TKL is only in Cherry Speed Silvers so I pulled it apart and replaced all the switches with Noble Yellows.
I'm not too familiar with clickys so I don't have many on hand. I also don't really like em. Both him and my fiancée had the same cheapo Outemu Blue keyboard so for her she didn't care too much but liked the tactile bump so I went Box Burnt Orange for hers. Got her a K70 Lux RGB IIRC.
My personal fav switch is the Box Crystal Royal
I highly prefer linears so my K100 has Ancient Greys I swapped on it
Ye
I’ve never really given linears a fair chance. I just like tactile too much, and I’ve never found a linear I liked; I’m sure there are linears out there that I would, though.
Hmm, looks like the Box Crystal Royal is a lighter Burnt Orange force wise
Extremely heavy tactile
Lighter spring, VERY heavy bump
Well, lighter than the Burnt Orange.
Not light light
I actually like the burnt orange OK, but too light for me. Apparently, according to my uncle, our family has big ass uncoordinated hands so I kinda smash the keys lol. I had Blacks before these and still bottomed them out pretty easily.
Probably why I feel like there's basically no bump for most tactile switches I've tried
I have VERY strong spider fingers
Only thing that sucks is eBay, poor guy is annihilated by fees. Check r/MechMarket and see if you can find something, or since that's a really mainstream board r/HardwareSwap
so I like heavy click/medium to very heavy spring
Those heavier box switches feel incredible pressing individual keys, but when actually typing...yeah I'm really used to a lighter switch lol, I know a guy who really likes his though so I understand
He slams the crap out of his keys XD
Yea, the Ancient Grey felt heavy for a couple days and that's about it. It's nice that now everytime I brush another key I don't actually activate it. That was the worst part about having Reds which is what I originally started with.
Can anyone identify the big keyboard on the right
Logitech G15
Thanks so much
No prob!
Yeah mine are uh well
I don’t slam keys, I have a very light touch with any key, but I do have very strong fingers
I’m a horse guy, and I work with wood, etc
(“Light touch” as in I apply just enough force to not bottom out hard)
By the way: I’m putting together ANOTHER keyboard (big surprise hahaha) and I’m looking for a reasonably attractive board to match these keycaps:
Along with the Evenstar modpack
and this wrist rest:
The one with the green and gold background
So I could use some help picking a board. I’m looking for a midrange barebones board, hopefully in aluminum but open to other materials, in either 1. Gold 2. Jade green 3. White or off-white 4. Light green to match the green keycaps.
A backlight would be nice, but I don’t need it- RGB or not.
Oh and it should be 80% (TKL)
Hopefully with support for 5-pin switches- not a deal breaker but I would consider it reasonably important. The switches I’m putting on are Midnight Jade 5-pin switches so I’d have to clip the legs off. I’d like to not do this, I’ve already done it to a set of crystal royals and it was kinda unfun. Plus I don’t want to mutilate them
I'd say 40-45
thats literally less then the price of keycaps
i would say its a good buy
bc if its damaged you can get new keycaps
and its a black body so its really easy to buy keycaps for it
but its optical
so im not 100% sure that you can swap in regular switches in it
you can't
i would recomend you get a mechanical razer keyboard
not optical
bc of upgrade path
Hello! I am looking to find a mini keyboard/mouse combo to use with an intel nuc, I have seen some on amazon but they have mixed reviews. Recommendations?
They did say “fairly used” which I interpreted as somewhat heavily
yeah
just clean it
and add new keycaps
oh wait the switch stems arent mx
or they are
Burnt orange and box royals use the same stem shape. The royals just have a thicker click leaf
Define mid range
Solid build quality without too many frills. $150 would be ideal (I’m talking upper midrange for a more mass produced board, not counting crazy expensive group buys)
Holy shit that’s perfect
That is like
Exactly
What I want
and I had even forgot to mention that I wanted a high profile case
Should be a decent board
Yeah gotta love keychron
I'm in the game!
Can I use plate mounted mechanical switches with an epomaker gk61
No because the plate mount ones require holes on the pcb
yo anyone have boba u4t's ? wondering how tactile they are
Probably not since Romer G keys use special keycaps compared to basically all the MX and MX style switches.
this isn't an issue. you can just clip the 2 legs on the switches and you'll be fine
yep, they're definitely a tactile staple
definitely one of the more tactile non-group buy, non-frankenswitched switches
Hey, anyone else here use keychrons? How are your experiences with them?
feels like a keyboard
Have you had one die on you? Have you had issues with the usb c connector? Any other troubles?
used it bluetooth 100% of the time except when it needs charging.
haven't got problems really
thanks. I've been using in a mix of wired and bluetooth. Seems fine so far but its been only a week. Im wondering if I can recommend it to others yet or even consider other keychron products
tbf, the keychron was recommended to me
I didn't buy a keeb just becase it's popular
one of the more tactile mx style switches out there
as part of linear gang, theyre pretty good tho a bit too overwhelming
so if you feel like they might be too tactile, lubing the whole stem lightly with 203g0 helps, then they feel incredible imo
Definitely not to be honest. It's a pretty solid board if you don't aim to upgrade
Optical switches are pretty nice. Only real problem is that you aren't going to be able to swap them out ever.
I couldn't find any channel for gamepad ?
Do you think is Trust Gxt 545 okay for entry level?
apex 7 blue or huntsman v2 purple?
wdym?
i dont recommend both of the option you just mention
if you need a keyboard that has the same feature set both, the wooting two he
ahh its how the keyboard is called
XD
wooting two he
no no no, only common companies please
wooting is a common company.
and also with wrist rest
not in Poland
idk if I could even manage to deliver it to poland lol
they do
heres their eu storefront
there is a wrist rest, but yea, they dont have a tkl offerings atm
the company is from netherlands just in case you are wondering
im not a huge fan of both
i would just stick with a good old leopold
the razer offering is rather lackluster since the only advantage you got from it is a super smooth key feel due to the contactless switch design
and the steelseries main unique feature is the oled screen which for me doesnt have a use case
not to mention both are overpriced
i guess hyperx alloy fps is a fine substitution
its 3 pin plate mount
why tf would you need to clip
if the switch comes with 5 pins then you can just clip the extraneous ones??
the problem is that plate mount switches doesnt have the 2 extra plastic legs
so you dont have to even clip them in the first place
the one that has 5 pins are the one that is pcb mounted
but its plate mount
right, okay, i can't read
still should be fine though
you don't need those 2 legs
they're only really useful if you're soldering on a half plate
some keyboard are still pccb mounted
like the glacier 80
so try not to clip it if you dont need to clip it
tru
random comment: someone could literally sell foam cut for specific boards and sell the foam for 50 bucks and call it tempest pe foam and i swear it will become out of stock
50$ ... I would not buy ... 20$ yeah probably
yea maybe they could sell it with different thicknesses too
Yes that would be good ...
But being too expensive and people will just buy a sheet of foam and to it themselves
I see people selling them for specific sizes of boards but never that price. Usually they're like, 20-40 cents each
Feel like most people aren't stupid enough to pay that much. Maybe as an addon when they're buying online but i could only ever picture that going up to 10$ max. Which is already dumb.
i agree, i honestly will not even buy it for 10 dollars, probably like 3-5$ amx
yeah lol. 2$ already got me a giant roll of pe foam so I'm never paying for a cut out at this point
yea and probably cutting it out urself will be faster than waiting for it to arrive lmao
imagine not saying LT
let me take that back
too late
the girls are now going to beat you to death

dis a really budget oem keyboard that i modded, the mic definitely does not pick up the actual sound but its okay
have you changed the position of the mic?
sounds alright
mic could be better positioned thou
you mean by like have i tried repositioning the mic?
yea
to like right above the board for example
if you can
cause thats the case for me
when i put my phone on the desk and took a recording of my keeb, it sounds much deeper and the higher frequency sounds didnt get recorded
Redragon K606R
Gateron Milky Yellows (Lubed)
Lubed Stock Plate-mounted Stabilizers
PE Foam on the case, only one layer though because i also put coins and also in between pcb and plate and 2 layers of masking tape (tempest mod)
sorry forgot to send tjat one
just info on the board
i can try repositioning the mic thought itll be kinda hard
also the "rattly" sound on the stabilizers when i press on it is probably the coins rattling, i may have to reapply the tape. because it definitely isnt rattle caused by the stabs
idk if its just me or u guys can hear it too
actually i remodded that keyboard since i put like 3 layers of pe foam under the case with tape mod and coins aswell and it was horrible, got advice from people that know better and there
well it was kinda dumb on my end so mb
this was the old one before i remodded
okay idk why but my videos on discord doesnt embed, perhaps because its on h265 not sure though but that may just be the case
sorry for talking too much LMAO
oh, there's a keyboard channel here. can relate on these pog
pog
how long have you been around here for?
thanks man 🙂
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=2309 Which one of these should I go for if I want something between MX Red and MX Black (current) weighting?
MX Red is a little too light while MX Black is a little too stiff for me.
mx red is 60g, mx black is 80g
if you want a perfect inbetween, a 70g spring is good
otherwise a 68g-74g range might be nice
depends on how you feel about both though
I had MX Reds and other similarly cheap variants of it and I found myself making lots of typos
This one is too stuff, which leads to many typos as well due to just not pressing hard enough
did you find yourself making more typos with reds or with blacks? @fiery vale
72gs are pretty good
Not sure, have nothing to compare right now.
I have the feeling that I made more mistakes with the red one though
then somewhere in the low 70gs is good
So the actuation force is irrelevant
thanks
I'm reading that the MX Red has 45g and the black has 60g tho
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=6068 Now this just seems absolutely horrendous
Hey so does anyone have any experience with the skyloong gk21s? There's a epomaker version of this avail on amazon, but idk if it's too good to be true since its priced the same as other sites that only include the pcb and the epomaker includes switches and keycaps.
it might not even be able to bring up the stem lmao
hey, I want to get rid of all the HP bloatware on my Omen 15 laptop. It has a customizable RGB keyboard via their Omen Light Studio, but are there any 3rd Party programs that can do the trick?
usually those are pre-programmed only by their own software only rarely in cases there could be a third party ones used as a alternative
just scrolling. stabs definitely nice, but maybe you'd wanna try the micropore mod sometimes too? it makes the stabs sound poppy

micropore mod?
never heard if that could you maybe explain what that is?
yea hang on

woaaahhhh
Keycaps are generally around or slightly below a gram, and stems even less. Friction is also not super consequential. No way would it sag under the keycap and stem, but it might have some trouble with snappy responses for fast typing? I doubt even that, because it has more to do with the shape and material of the spring. You just wouldn’t be able even to rest your fingers on the caps at ALL. And no way could you put that spring under a spacebar or larger monkeys
yeeeeees
perhaps yea
nice! im from ph too
poggerss
let me just watch the vid you just sent
also, i friction fitted this one
on the sound test that was a tray mount
i modded it and added like a gummy oring
a big one
between the plate and pcb
to friction fit it
actually no
its not a gummy oring
i really diy'ed this thing
and went for like this string
that fits perfectly on the pcb and plate
and just used that
time to remove the stand offs
ooohhh i see, so u just tape the ends of the wire
and lube it
Yeah
I do it for all of my boards
The only thing i havent did this on was the owlstabs since its really just good
what alternative tape can i use as i think i dont have any micropore tape lying around
or perhaps would any tape work
ehh i think holee's the best alternative for this, havent tried modding with other tape yet tho
ill try with something else maybe
yea, ive actually done holee to the stabs
Good stuff
do it for science
mmmmmm really good
Thank you
i mean sure why not lol
Noice
Dooooo itttttttt
damn this is good
Im addicted to it
hey guys so i have a keychron c1, i wanted to get custom rgb effects for it, i wanted to set it to static red but it doesnt have a software to my knowledge, is there anyway i can customize the rgb?
i love pizza hut
Actually I should look into this. I'm sure that you could rewire it. If you wanted to add ityoud have to reflash it
Oh cool, looks like QMK can be flashed onto my k8
Note: If everything works fine with your keyboard. Please don’t update the firmware. There is a chance it can damage your keyboard. Keychron Q1 Firmware Keychron Q2 Firmware Keychron K1 Firmware Keychron K1 JIS Version Firmware Keychron K2 Firmware Keychron K2 ISO Firmware Keychron K2 JIS Firmware Keychron K3 Firmware
wait nvm that's firmware lol
exactly
i think keychron wont release any software
since they're focusing on the Q series which supports qmk via boards
imma share my favorite board here
Jelly Epoch 75% by Owlabs Studio
bad photo, beautiful board
Im not back to my work desk. Apologies for the bad photo. Im just mounting my board somewhere usable
ahh these are keyreative from Zfrontier
the hiragana ones
It kinda looks like GMK Metaverse 😆
Sometimes i do wish i own the set
I like SA profile, i have a ikki mizu mounted with SA Aqua
its 💅
gorgeous set thou
if i had to pick two or three sa sets id like to own one day
- sa olivia (boring ik)
- sa chalk
- sa pulse
Ah yes Pizza Hut
is GMMK good barebones and glorious panda switches?
Actually pretty proud of this one
Amazon
cool
there's better boards than a base gmmk but they're also more expensive
im on a high budget tbh, what boards would you reccomend
how high
uh
like high
im one of those spoiled kid brats
i got 10k to work with on a whole new setup so I want top quality shit
@drifting flame https://thocstock.com/keyboards wouldn't be a bad place to start researching, check out the kbd67 v3 on divinikey or the brutalist boards on cannonkeys
is the Keychron Q2 good
its good but in this hobby its really hard to say whats good since its all preference
you may like one and hate the other i have a KBD67 lite v3 and honestly its great but its cheaper to get a Q2 and i think its better
basically - it's hard to buy a "bad" keyboard these days (obviously once you get into decent keyboards, not cheap garbage)
added 2 more layers of tape but this time its scotch tape instead of masking tape and added the micropore mod that @heady oak recommeded on the spacebar
but idk if its really micropore tape but its some kind of tape
lol
Pretty good one, yeah
Keychron is pretty good, I’m waiting for the Q3/K8 Pro
i also just friction fitted this
Olivia classic babe
honestly if ur talking about gmmk pro nope
sec
looks good, stabs sound good
there's some mic feedback tho but nice
any more mods i can maybe do?
have you tried tempest
But its not worth your time imo
oh yea it already has tempest
2 layers of masking tape and 2 layers of scotch tape
PE foam?
could i maybe add another layer of coins on the top part since theres an incline or is it a bad idea?
and maybe would it sound muffled if tried to do that?
might sound muted
this one
Yea
Gmmkpro
Nope
It's okay for beginners really who want to have a go at custom boards
But personally ill pass
@heady oak do u know any cheap but good plate mounted stabs that kinda priced well here in ph?
or do i even need to change out my stabs lol
durock goat
theres even an option for it to be lubed, clipped and holee modded
does anyone know waht the difference of black, white and piano stabilizers?
actually i just need to know what piano stabilizers are lol
its just a color
Hello keyboards, I'm looking for a gift for my partner in the 200 range. (About 140) for USD)
I'm happy to build it myself, but it's gotta be brown switches (any brand is okay) and have a keypad.
Any advice is appreciated
Brown switches 🤮
hmm okay
what about the leopold fc900r?
Brown or brown like. It's our choice really. Clicky noise is awful
I'll have a look, one sec
as for light tactile switch recommendation, i dont know much about, so i would let other suggest
Oh good. Lots of colours to choose from
I'm thinking of building my next keyboard with black switches ¯_(ツ)_/¯
“Brown like” you mean tactile? Nearly ANY tactile switch is better than browns.
Not sure what exactly you’re looking for
Tactile?
tactility in the same ballpark of the mx brown is what i interpreted
Or specific
Oh, I tend to expect more novice questions so I was thinking they got sucked into the three “gamer classes” wherein you can choose from blues, browns, and reds
thats what i interpreted from the question
i might be completely wrong tho
Yeah not specifically browns. Just a medium actuation weight, tactile, no click
I'm aware that there's a shitload of switch types and colours I'm just rather new to it
Nice, nice
I like switches with a very heavy tactile bump so bumpy it clicks
That’s why I suggested royal, it feels like a clicky but it’s not so loud
I also like clickies tho
How about Kailh BOX Silent Brown? Those are pretty nice switches that have the characteristics you’re thinking of, but feel much smoother and actually have a noticeable bump.
BOX Burnt Orange are also much like the Royals but are a little bit quieter with a slightly heavier spring
I'll take a look into them. Thank you
hey guys!
I currently have a membrane keyboard and I can not type consistently on it because the keys are stiff and wobbly.
I was looking into cheap mechanical keyboards and was wondering if anyone here could help me out with some options to choose from or some tips on buying
my budget is under 25 usd (im broke lol)
I would prefer the keyboard to be 10 key less (TKL) and have silent switches. If not that is totally fine
I would also like to add that it does not need RGB. if it has RGB cool if not I don't care abt it.
thanks (: (please ping so I can reply)
last i checked e-yooso boards were around that price
but ideally you'd want a redragon k552
prolly the best ultra-budget tkl i can think of
Could prob find someth on aliexpress, but at $25, it's not like you'll really have options, so it's kind of just get what you can for that price.
Redragon is your bestfriend
find locally from you
ok cool thanks
thanks
<@&750150305383186585> they've been spamming like almost every chan w/this
uhhh what?
I've only sent my message once lol
Wasn't you, the message was deleted
oh ok
Someone was spamming a link to their game or "game."
ahh ok
just save up
ur probably gonna get someone the same quality as ur current board
what is the difference between keyboards honestly lol
i have a razer ornata chroma that was $100 or something couple years back
its membrane
but when i click a key theres no delay at all and it feels nice
so why would anyone buy more expensive ones if it does the job? lol
either cause marketing for most gamer boards
or because they are in the keyboard hobby
and now its more of a collector item (since most hobbyist boards are funded through the group buy model)
ah i see thank you
how many people complement you for how "thocky" your keyboard sounds as well as how expensive and rare it is
so its really just a flex
now its how squishy your plate is tbh
frankly yes
i get compliments over how it sounds sometimes bc its got like little metal things in it so it clicks lmao
click leaf yea
its really just a clout contest nowadays
very few people care about what started the whole thing in the first place
i js wana cop a nice keyboard i can put custom keys on lmao
I just question the design team as to why put such a big enter key and such a small backspace key
Do you guys recommend the red dragon k552?
it'll do the job
I guess yeah
plus they're pretty cheap, so go for it if you can't spend a whole lot
thats the IBM model f AT layout
originated from the ibm 5170
prob a design choice ngl
Oh I see
Click bar > click leaf
yea ik
its the cynosa we are talking about
Lol
I’m just doing a little trolling
Joking about the “dick measuring” that goes on in keyboard circles
its not even a click leaf, its just a leaf spring
ENDGAME !>!?/!???/!?!?11!!?!????!?/?
no...it's a keyboard
my shitty attampt at adding PS/2 connectivity while keeping the AT connector
Issa joke
I paid a lot for it
Endgame means, in keyboards, “this is a hyper expensive keyboard that I’m pretending to promise myself is the last one I’ll ever buy because it’s just THAT good”
It’s become a meme
idk if i could afford a keyboard that cost that much 😞
I dont have it anymore
IIRC, I re-assigned the "macro" key to be the windows key
Listen to Typing FK-2002 by xnamkcor #np on #SoundCloud
The 2 usd sticker lmao
Yea that thing is priceless
A piece of nice keyboard history I dare say
Damn, sounds nice
people overvalue vint stuff
the clout chasers discovered that part of the hobby unfortunately
^
I’ve got a happy keyboard tbh and that’s all I need
I’m building one more in a clicky switch (BOX midnight Jade with Elvish keycaps and a Smaug wrist rest) and maybe another tactile with BOX EVAs and I think that’s enough.
I didn't sell it
?
oh ok
Lol
i thought u were saying hhkb
No I kinda wish tho lmao
The HHKB isnt that amazing
Redragon K606R
Gateron Milky Yellows (Lubed)
PBT OEM Profile Keycaps
Holee Modded and Lubed Stabs
Tempest Mod
Coin Mod
PE Foam (under the pcb and in between pcb and plate)
(friction fitted to with a big gummy o-ring and i also removed the stand offs)
idk i just wanted to reshare the keyboard
Sick :)
thanks!
What size/layout do you recommend?
hes trolling
Ah right :) I was wondering if any layout smaller than that even existed
there is just saying
Yeah apart from num pads and literall alphabet only
Wait, is there? Apart from those
but a layout like this is impractical for most ppl
theres the osu 2 key stuff
macropads too
tho at that point do you count that as keyboards or not?
Those are more lube than keyboard
dont worry me too
I have a Keychron K8, I would like the media shortcuts and the FN keys apart, but I don't use the home hub and arrow keys at all
Is there a form factor for that?
75%?
it axes most of the nav clusters
axes means remove
and https://deskthority.net/wiki/Nav_cluster
Oh right
actually, 75% is more like tkkl but with the nav clusters not in your way tbh
Yeah 75% would've been fine for me aswell, but to be fair I don't need the desk space, and I like the arrow keys kinda free
and with qmk compatible boards, you can remap it to anything
so something like this?
exploded 75%
Yeah that seems about right, but then I still wouldn't save the desk space because I'm scared I'm gonna need those other three of the sixkeys
But then still, I wouldn't have all those media keys apart from my F1-F12 keys
yea, you would have to map layers using fn key to have those media buttons
Microsoft powertoys
I've got a Keychron K8F3 or K8 with Keychron Optical Brown switches, I can set the keys to be media keys by defauly, then I have to hold fn to acces the F keys
Whatarethose
I use print screen and delete
I keep page up/down for volume controls on a second layer
I use 🪟 shift S for print screen
Is that the one that saves it to an image?
How do I know it my keyboard is qmk compatible?
You can try to find your keyboard model in the QMK repo on github
Yeah it lets you select freesnip, screen, application or rectangle, then saves it to your clipboard
Oh I’m thinking of another one then
And then if you click the notification you can edit it and save it/copy to clipboard again
Snipping tool saves to an image
Cool lemme try
snipping tool?
meanwhile Microsoft has renamed snip and sketch back to snipping tool in windows 11
I remember there was a shortcut that does it automatically
Oh it’s windows + print screen
Like it saves directly into your photos folder
what is it
:( only the KeyChron Q1 and Q2 (75% and 65%) are supported
you can run it on AVR/ARM mcus
if it isn't part of the main qmk github you can probably write custom firmware if it uses a compatible controller
It's a Keychron K8
Idunno about writing firmware
I could try it tomorrow, am currently sleeping, 4.30 am
product page says it is
What does qmk do?
Ah so it saves it if you use it on another device
Right
Yeah ok that makes sense
You can do a lot of different things with QMK
I know one of the devs has some sort of autocorrect baked into main keyboard lol
I am not trolling. I see no reason why people really need more than a 40% + numpad and honestly most people could easily just use the 40%
I've had all sizes of keyboards and can confidently say that I only ever use the number row for the symbols that you shift for on those keys
I see. My bad wordings too, it's not a troll in the slightest
And v rarely ever use the function row or home key, etc cluster
keychron q1 is a very good board if you have the time to mod it
Can you do complex macros with QMK?
Like say, I make a macro that opens a browser to my homepage and logs in to my program of choice
It's awkward when I'm doing data entry of both numbers and letters
When in word processing 40 is fine
Or if I'm writing an article that's numbers/stats heavy, I'll go for a 60/65
Numpad is general is not good for my flow if I have to do letters do, because one of my hands has to come off the alphas
Do letters also*
Probably would be less of a problem if my typing speed wasn't 150-180, but anytime I have to physically move my hand somewhere else it interrupts my flow
Anything achievable with keystrokes
Can do stuff like set the macro to lwin+r to bring up the run box before typing the name of the program and enter
Set delays between strings etcetc
I don't have money for another keyboard, or actually I might buy this Q1 or Q2 and pass this K8 on to my girlfriend
yea man, i shouldve went for the 20% layout
this has to be a joke
ahh yes, 27 key
qwerty+space
that's just seven keys
that's six
i mean yea, who needs the other keys anyway
yes so true
pain27
is a different layout
I never was able to figure out who designed that case
just links back to a vendor on aliexpress that did the manu
dunno what pcb it's for lol
how tf do you type on that
you don't
its just a flex
i wan dis
My new board. Went with cherry mx browns. Got it on sale for $150 Corsair Platinum XT my first mechanical keyboard always been a cheapo on peripherals 😅
\o/
congrats
Can anybody help me rq I’m looking to get some mint chocolate chip switches but I don’t know if they are compatible with my keyboard
Advice
Never get blues
I would go for browns
In that price range
I can probably find you a good deal on Amazon
Well they just sound nice in general and nice and quiet idk any cons rlly I have browns in my keyboard
@maiden parcel
My favourite are mint choc chip switches but they are fairly rare to find
In that price range I would go for reds or browns
Reds are like in the middle of blues and brown
S
Meh
I would go for
This is my own one
I just got some different keycaps
Or a havit keyboard good brand
They have cherry blues
I gtg
Dm I’ll talk tomorrow
I can help more then
I’m at college now 😂
Mhm?
Redragon K552 kumara LED backlit mechanical gaming Keyboard (Black) The Redragon K552 kumara isn't your average gaming Keyboard. Not only is it over-engineered and built to take a beating, it is loaded with features including heavy duty metal and ABS Construction, double-shot injection molded key...
This would be perfect because you can Chicopee to get reds
Choose*
Well same one
But if you get the red switches it will be perfect
Gtg
where can you order from then?
I mean keychron c1 is pretty good, its 40usd stock or up to 60~ if you want rgb and hot swap
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-c1-wired-mechanical-keyboard?variant=32321246953561 @tall mica

y'all seen the new drop dwarf mecha keycaps
Those are actually really cool
I'm afraid to look at how much they are tho
oh yea those do look pretty cool
hey everyone what could i do to reduce desk reverb when pressing the larger keys with stabs
i already have a desk mat
why do you care? is it really that noticeable?
if you alread have a deskmatt I'd think your only option is a new desk but I could very well be wrong
well the reverb it makes make me the stabs especially the stabilizers sound pretty bad
are you sure its the desk?
have you tried it on the ground or on a different surface
yup im very sure its the desk
yup
i even tried it by just holding it
hmm im not too sure, is your desk sturdy?
yea, its decently hard wood
im not to sure how to fix that sorry. maybe someones else has had that but personally I've never heard] of desk reverb
buy a new house
buy a table out of solid concrete covered in acoustic foam
all for that sound amirite
Solid diamond sounds better
Not being able to afford it is a skill issue ngl
i actually bought a wurtzite boron nitride made table
not being able to afford it is a skill issue ngl
i use 2 deskmats for soundtest
it does sound better
Sounds like some audiophile snake oil stuff in here
... agreeed
Gotta be the sunken cost. "I spent a bunch on this so clearly it MUST do/be X better"
I'm so happy I don't care about the sound of my keyboard
I've found two desk mats does help in the sound but it's so minute that it doesnt matter LOL
I just have them stacked because i have no where to put the other one
well i tried it on mine it did nothing LMAO
hey everyone, what should i buy, durock switch films or tx switch films (both 0.15mm)
or does it not even matter lol
i dont think it matters that much tbh
if they are the same thickness
think so too
but based on the other reddit posts i found it seems like tx switch films are easier to install
lube
you gonna lube the desk?
lube the stabs
helps ur desk pad / mouse pad not slide and stuff
and easy access for something else
u should try it dude

i think nathan already did that
mhm
add foam
pe foam
under the pcb
or add foam stickers under the stab
but its a little mushy
already did
might add the cloth part of the bandaid to it
idk i might try
yeah
get new stabs
you probably should get new stabs
Which keycaps do you guys like? I've been going back and forth but I'm not rly sure which ones I like. I like the font and style of the darker ones but the lighter ones go alittle bit more with the color scheme
