meh, not great
That's super cool ngl, 100% deserving of a video to share with the masses
It can store pages and pages worth of documents, and one of the most surprising parts of all is that it has NON VOLATILE memory
When you unplug it it still keeps your documents stored
That's actually really impressive damn lol
1986 baller tech
I have evidence to believe it was worth around $3000-5000 when it came out
Paid $20 canadian
seems like a steal
yes and no
its a nice build dont get mx blues because you will lose your mind
i have it now and i have modded it with the tape mod, band aid lubed switches. However there is a major issue the case is crooked common problem so you will just have to make sure the case is straight
if you want a 60% there are honestly better options out there now
and cheaper
like the anne 2 pro or a nice keychron keyboard
or get a nice custom one
I chose ducky cuz of the white diffusion of the body
Havent seen any others that are that frosted white
what do you want in a keyboard ?
there is no real diffusion
i would rather get a hot-swap board since it allows for more customisation and easier to make it sounds better

he prob means underglow led diffusion?
or led diffusion, something along that line
yeah the ducky has 0
its solid white
the ducky may be the best prebuilt but honestly i would go for a cheaper board and mod it
Compact, nice rgb
And if can, transparent white
Or blue
do you like the one LAM put in chat ?
the case is constructed of stacked diffused acrylic pieces, so it will flex
epomaker makes a nice acrylic board too
Upgraded Hot Swappable Mechanical Keyboard Last year AKKO released its first acrylic mechanical board, Sakura Jelly, which has been gaining continuous positive feedback from the community while some of you suggested a hotswap version, so AKKO designed ACR61, a hotswappable keyboard still in the same acrylic form, to be
this
why would you want so much rgb
typical gamer, what do you expect
like why would you want a keyboard thats covered with rgb
i mean i like rgb
but like a little bit is enough
thats why i called that board the rgb candy bar
and thats just the side effect of how the board is built
stacked acrylic which lets light through, low profile plate design which lets the rgb to spill out to the surroundings more
cute
because it looks nice to some people
also that's just how stacked acrylic will always look unless you get it opaque
some people just like the look either way
people be judging visual preferences while preaching the importance of preference in keyfeel
I mean I’ll take a nice feeling keyboard over the better looking one
i prefer a little rgb
cool for you then
i'm returning my logitech g613 wireless keyboard
it types nice but i really keep moving my hands over to the G1-6 keys on the right side
almost always passively confuse them as Ctrl or Shift or w/e
logitech keyboards suck
I have that keyboard and I like it a lot yes the G1-6 keys are a little annoying at first but you get used to it
Is the leopold fc980m worth it?
@jovial zephyr do you still use it i am guessing? i was sold on the fact that it lasts months without recharge and is also a mechanical keyboard. but the keys feel very heavy
even though it is gaming-oriented. BUT i also like the added wrist rest it has
Somehow we gotta convert people into going to MechanicalKeyboards.com as their first store choice for mechanical keyboards, not BestBuy.com lol
well the big thing was wireless that i was sold on
but i was looking at razer's wireless keyboard and that looks pretty good too
idk it's just me wanting to cut out cables from my life
Very understandable, still go check out MechanicalKeyboards.com, they’ve got plenty of wireless options too and they’re great people, I’ve been to their store several times and they’re always very helpful and go out of my way to help me find what I want. I believe their online store is solid as well, they naturally have the same keyboards available so you’ll have plenty to look at and I’m sure you can sort by wireless
very cool. i'll check them out.
yeah i have a wireless mouse and headphones as well just to keep a clean desk space
Is ASUS ROG Claymore Core RGB mechanical gaming keyboard with Cherry MX RGB switches any good?
its all preference so its hard to say
No i whas thinking if there are any big problems like delay or something
This insight is what i whas looking for ty
how much does it cost ?
1 sec let me check
125$ in my country
not too bad
the durgod k320
is good if you like the looks
it may not have rgb but the build quality is pretty nice
I dont think its available in my country
there is a rgb option but its rare
Any link?
Ok so hear me out. What if RGB typewriter?
Nahh no durgod available in my country xd
then if you like the look of the asus one just get that you can always mod it
if you dont like the sound
Yeah ty
np
Where chan i ask about a mouse
What do you think of the Logitech G502 HERO
this guy makes top quality mouse videos at lest in my opinion
i have a g pro and i have had a g703
so i would say they are very nice
So i whudent go wrong with the Logitech G502 HERO
Hmm... Well then, I might as well get on it
yeah
Ty

+1
Bought a G910 in 2017 and in 3 days I was already exchanging it for a Corsair K95 Platinum. Obviously not the best choice but in the same category, the K95 was worlds above anything Logitech made minus say the 710+ which was a decent keyboard but Logitech software sucks.
I'm currently torn between a Wooting 2 and a Keychron though. The analog sounds really nice but they don't offer a Japanese layout.
which keychron ?
Keychron K8 (Japan JIS Layout) Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. Tenkeyless Layout. Wireless or Wired. and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Keychron Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
i mean this one is nice
i wanted to get it but i blew my money on something else
there is going to be one like this but the pro edition with via and qmk and nicer keycaps soon
I currently use a K95 Platinum with blank keys on the top but engraved on the side, but wanted something different. I can no longer find Japanese side engraved keys and Wooting doesn't make a JiS analog keyboard.
Welp I will forget about getting the keychron Q2 for now ... way too expensive here
where?
Quebec
oh
And I still don't have the boba u4t I want to put in there
Which are around 80 to 90 for 110 switches
do you guys think this is a good deal?
Do you already have a keycap puller?
O ring are meh
Yeah save your money, just get the key caps you want
I'm looking at getting a new mechanical keyboard and I'm stuck between two options:
- Razer BlackWidow V3 (Green Swiches)
- Logitech G513 (Blue Switches)
I already own other logitech peripherals and am leaning towards the G513, but the blackwidow seems like such a better option.
Some kind of dedicated volume control is a big plus, which the blackwidow has. I've also never owned a clicky keyboard and I'm not sure what to expect from these two options.
Any words of wisdom to help me make a decision? If you have a suggestion for another keyboard, I'd love to hear it.
Razer perfs don't last very long and are low quality, so at least in your situation and being within the same ecosystem I'd go with the G513. If you really want a good suggestion then I recommend taking a look at Keychron, or the top of the list would be RealForce but that's big money right there.
Thanks! I'll take a look
No problem. I think for the money you won't beat Keychron but to stay in the ecosystem of Logitech then the G513 would be a good choice also
👍 Was just looking at the k10 from them and it looks like a pretty good choice. I use a numpad frequently so going TKL isn't a choice for me, although it would be nice! haha
Thanks again
Yeah so do I, but I've been playing with the idea of having a separate numpad. The K4 looked interesting because it's a compact full keyboard just all the keys are compacted together so it might be weird at first
All those looked really funky to me. I'm adventurous, but not that adventurous
Are leopold keyboards still relevant in 2022?
wdym relevant?
I mean that is there better options now adays compare to them for that price
@worldly shale
i haven't had one myself but they seem like pretty solid choices still
akko is a better option overall though imo
ACR kits are either cheaper or around the same price and are both gasket mounted + hotswap + come with a nice coiled cable iirc
the only thing afaik leopold has over them rn is the fact that leopold has pretuned screw in stabs while akko has platemounts but imo it isn't really a big deal
what about keycaps?
like leopold and akko's keycap choices?
yes
it's mostly an aesthetic thing but akko has good keycaps in my experience and from what i've heard leopold is the same
akko keycaps have a lot more going on while leopold seems to be pretty simple
k ty
npnp
I either gonna get the akko 3098/acr98 or wait for the keychron q6 and save up money for it\
acr98 is a good choice
yeah I know its just that I dont really like the look of stacked acrylic
monet's pond 3098 is a very pretty board too imo but it is still plastic if that's something you don't want
yea fair
Anyone owns or owned a mad catz s.t.r.i.k.e. 7? And can give a honost opinion on it?
Planing to buy it used so are there any issues i should look for?
k then, uh no i dont have a keycap/switch puller
I uses for my desk I have a diffrent keyboard for typing when I uses my laptop , I Like the Keyboard it's good for all the games I play
we gotta convert people from using proprietary switches to mx style switches
dont buy it buy smth else
I am on the quest to find the loudest Mechanical keyboard
get a ducky one 2 and be done with it
kailh box navys
I found beamspring with solenoid sounds load on the video hope to build one
what's the DB
sound level how loud the beam spring is over 80db
oh ok
I am looking for a loud keyboard something around 90db
i dont know how lound those switches
are
i just know there very loud
the most loud
this is a video showing how loud the keyboard is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT9CHub9Cxs&ab_channel=TopClack
Yup she's loud and proud.
IBM 5251 with Beamspring switches
so your willing to use a used keyboard
my coworkers won't seeing as our office is all ready loud
Just like the sound of it.
fair enough
I am looking for a typewriter but can't find a good one
The One 3 is out now, too, tbh idk the difference but I assume there might be compelling feature(s) 🤷♂️
Yeah I mean it seems neat, has hotswap options which is nice for a lot of people
I can see that being very compelling for a starter board, ability to play around with switches easily
it looks like the person is considering a razer or logitech so im assuming that person wont be into modding
Mx is cope get based topre
cope harder
I just wanna be able to put the Varmilo EC2 switches on a Tex Shinobi 😭
sadly the ecv2 switches are only compatible with varmilo pcbs
Yeah
I’d also take the Summit R2 in 65%, rn there’s just TKL and full on MK’s website
oh
This is some BS
They have the image for the Ivy V2 there but no option to purchase it with that
This is on Varmilo’s own site
Their website is not great lol
It’s not terrible I guess, just not amazing
bc ivy is trash
Gotta say - hard disagree lol, you tried it?
its a clicky switch
so it sucks
i hate ALL clickies
But I LOVE them 😍
+all i care about a keyboard is its sound and i dont like the sound of clickies
oh ok
The Ivys actually sound really good, part of why I want them so bad
They also feel great, my current choice is the Kailh BOX Whites that I have on my TEX Yoda 2, hence wanting the Shinobi to complement it (and bc the Shinobi is very reasonably priced imho)
no theyre not thocky
More so than other clicky switches, are there any clickies that are especially "thocky" lol
Are there any low profile key caps and clicky keyboards less than 200?
G815 and Vulcan Pro both are 200 but is a bit much
ik
so i dont like clicky switches
why would you want and lp+clicky keyboard
Me personally I don’t but my friend is switching over from Mac and is dead set on low profile key caps and clicky
size?
you said low profile key caps
ok so thats easy
just get regular profile keyboard and add lp keycaps
Hmm alright
Lmao that is a fair point though does he just mean low profile switches, which in turn will come with low profile keycaps? I guess I'm also confused a little bit, does he just want non-floating keys, does that provide the same benefit he's looking for?
He wants the key caps small but really likes clicky switches and wants both
A lot of people like the Keychron K1, that one is pretty cheap I believe
LOL cope harder kid, maybe you'll realise someday how stupid you sound rn
Or Keychron in general
People also seem jazzed about that one they showed on ShortCircuit, the Nuphy
not everyone is you kid lmfao
sometimes people just have diff prferences
Suffice to say you've got options, I think the majority of the people in this chat are going to agree that you shouldn't spend $200 on Logitech's keyboards when there are way, way better options for less money even...gaming keyboards do typically have more RGB lighting effects and such, so I guess if that's a big selling point and they're already deep into the Logitech ecosystem (though it doesn't sound like it from what you've said so far) that may be worthwhile, it really is personal preference at the end of the day, but people absolutely are warranted in crapping on gaming keyboards for their low quality, especially for the money
Yeah and thank you very much for the help
to my knoledge, there is only 1 lp clicky siwtch which from kailh
there are no other lp clicky swithes
to my knoledge
that are mechanical and non-proprietary
What are optical switches?
Also, I'd appreciate if you'd all tell me how these look...
It looks white, with a little bit of silver
bruh
I meant by value/quality lol
I want something silent, but that feels good
Also, this
Switches that use light to register a key stroke rather than physical contamination
I see
uhm i got a random ass question, but what is something you would love to see on more keyboards that so far you have had/seen one or 2 that had it and nothing more
(im working on building my own, and am thinking of selling kits possibly in the future)
oled screens, like in the satisfaction75
i could do something like that, considering the one im wkrking on has an integrated 17.5" integrated touch lcd
specific surface or sub program limited, such as older ones like the g15 and g19 and the g510 ones
honestly not sure
i mean if its seen as a screen then it should be fine as you could do both then, sorta
ISO layouts supporting UK/German/Japanese languages, Hall switch options, removable USB-C cables, volume control knob or wheel, profile switch(es), compatible with multiple different RGB programs
Capacitive buckling spring board, no rgb, usb passthrough, detachable usb c, not horrendous price ...
almost every pcb has detachable type c
Almost
more switch options, included sound dampening, factory lubed and filmed switches, higher quality lubed pcb mounted stabs, alu case, brass or pc plate, heavier keyboards
capacitive buckling spring board? whats that?
plan was already to have the 5 pin hotswap on the pcb
isk layouts as in the different switch possitions right? or do some have more keys? also plan was already to have a build in audio dac and usb hub so removable thunderbolt or usbc 3.1 was on the table for it
tho i wouldn't know if i could integrate the multiple different rgb probgrams on it as those are copywrited systems
cant wait to build a keeb
also profile switches such as the logitech boards have was in the plan however im not sure how to fully implement them yet, altho it will also have plenty of macro's as no one has pcb's that are past the standard 104 layout, even 108 is hard to find
That's IBM model F
silent switches are out of stock everywhere
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=5801 if you find this in stock
I guess it's more because there's a very small window of manufacturers who offer a quality German/Japanese layout, and if you're still in this planning stage it's the best time to decide if you'll offer something for those people where you either have to know someone who lives in that specific country or region to get that keyboard, or pay large shipping and importation taxes to get it on top of an already inflated market price
can anyone help me with keyboard recommendations pls
fc750r with mx slient red?
i think
any budget keyboard recommendations? i really like cherry mx blue switches but i cant really find any decent cheap options
Havit Mechanical Keyboard and Mouse Combo RGB Gaming 104 Keys Blue Switches Wired USB Keyboards with Detachable Wrist Rest, Programmable Mouse, RGB Large Gaming Mouse Pad for PC Gamer Computer Desktop https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089KH21FN/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_MHQGSRBFYZT3VZAXVCY1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
why tf would yo buy a mouse combo
you
It's inexpensive
i dont care ur still getting ripped off
And Mouse pad is large enough
The combo is $50 as to where the mouse pad is $30 I was just listing a budget friendly option
That's fair it is budgeted lol
lower build quality then stacked acrylic
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=5530 this is another colour
ooh that looks very nice
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=5581 this is a wireless one but has worse keycaps+stabs
stabilizers
makes sense
things that prevent the larger keys from rattling as much
yea i just didnt know the shorterened form
Corsair keyboards are notorious for having rattling keys
Sounds like legos when I run my hand across mine
i always use the US layout, on qwerty, even tho im from within euro space so i always have to swap my laptops to em, so i understand, but im still in the procces of working on drawing out the pcb, plan was to offer kits based on the pcb and then a case that being it, so you can customise it yourself, with hotswap and that sorta stuff, also i only really started as there were no hotswap +18 boards and no kits with macro's included
i can't go around and copycat a patantat disighn
Is the akko 3098B a relevant choice for the price ( 100$)?
Can you elaborate?
mk 61 which keys are the best for low latency (blue, red , silver etc..) also can you sen link if you find
You asked what we'dike to see ... I told what I'd like to see ...
model f repro is a thing fyi, go and buy that
unless ellipse has finally decided to stop taking orders
I said affordable
keep dreaming
Well that's the answer to the question he asked
Hello, which Cherry MX Blue keyboards would you recommend?
it has to be mx blue?
would you interested in trying out other boards that has different clicky switches?
hm sure
whats your budget and keyboard size?
a full keyboard (with a num pad), my budget is 100$
where are you from?
Is the difference between leopold fc980m and akko 3098b big?And which one is the better one in your opinion
canada
what's the difference between royal kludge's rk68 and g68?
doesn't one of them use optical switches?
The only thing that is ok at this price point is probably the redragon k551
The Impulse RGB gaming keyboard showcases hot-swappable switches, delectable full RGB lighting, and special shine-through pudding keycaps. Available in BOX Brown (Tactile) and BOX White (Clicky) hot-swap switch sockets The Impulse now features hot-swap sockets! Change mechanical switches with no soldering required! Ma
theres this one
but import tax
Thank you!
99 usd ? ... 125$ cad ... plus probably 30$ of shipping and taxes maybe 10 to 30
But more worth it than the k551
For that price I would check out some keychron or the gmmk tho
Might be surprised
Québec ... how to turn a 169$ Q2 into a 300 $ keyboard
I have a keyboard with outemu blues and awful stabilizers and i hate it SO MUCH its so loud
Its literally earraping
Looking for a good low profile bluetooth mechanical keyboard that I can use while travelling to work on multiple devices that is also decent for gaming and obviously fits in a backpack (sadly not an LTT backpack) probably about £100 ish. I had thought about the NuPhy Air 75 or the Keychron k3 v2 but I’m not sure about the bright colours of the nuphy
bad keycaps, horrible stabilizers, bad design
keychron's lp keyboards are pretty good
I had heard that then looked around the internet and heard that they aren’t as good as some of the newer competition like the Air75
but they're still pretty good
i mean the keychron options are generally speaking cheaper than the air75
that would be expected tbh
lp has pretty limited switch options, so i might recommend finding a board that has the switches you want
What is the expected price of the keychron k8 pro
I have linear reds on my SS Apex 7 which I find okay but I think after trying a friends GL Tactile on a G615, that MX or Gateron Browns might be the way to go
yea i ment features on modern boards that can be legaly replicated without getting sued
The up arrow on a keyboard means shift and down arrow means Caps lock right?
whatever switch you sue i recomend lubing and filming them
if you want a tactile switch get the browm
if you like linear switch stick with the red
I haven’t done any of that before so maybe I’ll get round to it at some point but not sure yet
I’ll probably go tactile/brown
Yeah I was looking at a few that just so happened to be hot-swappable
someone that can recommend a mousepad off amazon?
are razer keycaps worth it or is there a cheaper set of pink keycaps
what size
and i could reccomend u the one i got
its lasted me well
good quality and value for money
qck steel series cheap and good
if you are looking for glide then there is the glass one
titanwolf is a good brand for cheap good quality mousepads
depends
if ur looking for a good small mousepad then ur right
if ur looking for a large one
titanwolf
yeah the corsair one is ok
Yeah but I prefer a not basic black one
there r ones that arent black
Just with a nice image
mine isnt plain black
let me show u the one i got
This one is sick
just look at the reviews
you're the one whos buying it so if u like it and the reviews r good then get it
although the reviews are incorrect most of the time on amazon
because comapnies pay ppl to put good reviews
i can say that is true some companies have offered me to give them good reviews
however there are some companies that do it because its hard to pop on amazon
fr, i'd say its unlikely on a product this small though
( i mean by price)
on some expensive products they give u 10 £ to give a good review
yeah i bought some 170£ dehumidifier works like a dream
i mean it stops fungus and shizz growing and its a air purifier
i still dont value them tho
i mean i spent a lot on my first keyboard
how much
i was planning to spend 150£
bruh
and i spent 210£
epbt caps WOB and kbd67 lite v3 with akko jelly pinks
my first keyboard i got like 3 yrs ago was the logitech g213, did alright for like a year
💀
i got that when i had like no idea what i was doing
i have a mechanical keyboard its the first time in the more premium side
i have a ducky one 2 mini which i have modded
send a pic
its literally stock apart from new switches
was planning to get a case heard the tofu60 will fit but then someone told me its not worth it so meh
fully stock
the sound is annoying because the case is crooked
does it sound good?
oh
but when it was new did it sound good
no not really
so the plate was crooked had to straighten it still not good
it sounds ok but could be a lot better keycaps would make a difference also hk gaming keycaps are a lot better than akko keycaps
Wchith is better the gammakay Lk 67 or the anne pro 2
they have different layouts. which layout do you like better?
I'm not sure but im more into the (tech) so switches, reaction Time, for gaming and programing
it depends on what switches you choose. You can have the same switches in both boards they will feel the same
do you want to have arrow keys and a volume knob?
I think id go with the gateron Browns and i dont have A preference on The keys and knob
I want the best performance tbh
the performance is the same
So whats better?
and arrow keys and f keys are pretty useful when programming
arrows keys are basically a must
i would go with the LK67 but thats my preference
Could i use Marcos insted of f keys?
reason 65% layout
yes but it becomes annoying
a 75% is probably the best for programming in my opinion
The acr is kinda expensive
are you looking for one with keycaps and switches or just a kit ?
feker75
IK75 same thing
You heard of the vissles v84?
For A kit id spend 65$ for a whole keyboard ~100
75 are sold out 😓
i ordered stuff and i received it also some take up to 3 months
I'd ratter not 😅
then just go on amazon and pick any 75% or which ever layout you like
What is the best switch for The akko 3068
also the 75 is just preference my friend codes on a 60 and he said its fine
its preference
Yeah
there is no the best in this hobby
I would like tactile switches
and red is has no feedback
Imo tactile>linear
what country do you live in ?
Poland
Where you form?
2 different playouts so just pick one you like more
anne 2 pro is nice and the rk84 is nice
Yeah
I agree but for me The akko 3087 is the best opion with 4$ shipping its just that i dont have visa or Mastercard XD
well good luck with that
np
Anne pro 2 is meh at best
there's no such thing ... it's a matter of preference
I think I will go with the Lk 67 custom built or A 75%
Kemove snowfox/shadow available there ?
65% is the minimum
The why did you consider the anne pro 2 ?
It was before i read 60% are not for programers
Not really, you get used to it
And it's often faster cause every key is closer together so you have to move your hands less
I think I will build A keyboard with the Lk67 and gateron Browns
Why gateron brown ?
Whith is better in your opinion?
Thanks
No problem...
If the board is hotswap I would get 2 sets of switches and try them out
You will have someday
Be aware that the tactility on the lavender purple is strong and sharp
And I think they are also heavier than the gateron brown so you should check if you think you'd like that
Just check the force graph for those two switches
45 akko is 9.99 usd
Just get 2 sets and have spare when one break or to try and lube some to test that out
Yes but on akkos site i dont have A way to order them
And not lube your 70 switches and realize you don't like it and have to reverse it all
They usually are on amazon
Also cant order form amazon
Then aliexpress probably
gateron browns have quite a bit less tactile force
and actually, I'm typing this on lavenders 😄
For now lavenders are probably the best switches I've tried ... but I haven't tried hundreds and hundred like some other have
I have tried... many
this is the first budget tactile I actually do like... most brown stuff has too little tactile force to really be... tactile
only one that came even remotely close is box brown, but this is nicer
Thanks you guys for The advice
tfw akko blues are too tactile and sharp for you
what do be this ?
Gmmk
looks good
Thanx
what switches does it have ?
do you think the keychron k8 pro will be good value?
Hi! I'm new to mechanical keyboards and after some research I've found out that Brown switched would be good for my use case (mostly typing, some gaming). I've never had a mech before, planning to get this one since it looks decent, has brown switches and it fits in my budget.
https://www.meckeys.com/shop/keyboard/80-keyboard/royal-kludge-rk-g87/
Is it a decent choice?
Royal Kludge is a good starter board. I'm not sure if it's hot-swap or not, so you might end up locked in with the browns. Also make sure you keep that link so you can get the latest driver if you need it (read the review)
Another board that i know is hotswap is the Tecware Phantom. Pretty similar to the one you posted but you can change switches when you want. https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HTZQYV/ref=as_li_ss_tl?tag=switchclick-20
Thank you! I don't think I'll need anything hot swappable anytime soon (though I would love to check out the difference between red and brown lol, I can't understand it just by reading)
Also that keyboard isn't available in my region, I just checked :(
oh just to feel it you can get a cheap switch tester from somewhere, you can order that when you're ready to branch out. I think Browns are a good starting point, thats what i got first
I wanted to go with Ducky since I've heard so much about them but they're soooo expensive
they are, and they are nice lol
I tried but couldn't find any cheap switch tester in my region. The one I found was more expensive than the keyboard I'm planning to get 🤣
Alright I'll buying this Royal Kludge one. Thank you!
no worries! There are plenty of regional vendors for mechanical-keyboard specific stuff. Check out r/mechanicalkeyboards on reddit. Large global community and a pinned "Ask any question, get any answer" thread. That would be a good place to ask for some vendors in your region (when you're ready to start trying new things)
what vendors are accessible in your location? you might just be able to get individual switches without the little tester frame itself
Amazon.in and Meckeys are the only reliable ones that I know about. If needed I could also have something shipped from the states but that'd be expensive
do you have shopee?
shopee has always been a reliable source of keyboard parts for me so as long as the store or reviews seem good you should have no trouble buying from there
Just checked, it's available!
Thank you! I'll look into it
Product selection in this region is limited though. No results for switch related keywords sadly
i'm guessing you live in india right?
Yup
Ayo thanks a lot for this. I didn't know about most of these, will check them real quick
np np! bangood also seems to ship to there, but i've heard bangood is somewhat unreliable when it comes to products and shipping. i have no firsthand experience with them however so take that in mind >_>
stacks seems to be the most popular
I've tried both bang good and Aliexpress. They're unreliable, to say the least. Sometimes stuff arrives, sometimes it doesn't
I can see why. There's sooooo many more choices and accessories here
awesome! hope you find something nice there
Thanks man! Appreciate the help :D
does anyone know of a barebones keyboard with this layout? feel free to @ me if you do
is that not a hotswap board?
akko acr98
there's no switches associated with a use case
it's only preference
I mean, some are more preferable than others ya know. Like if you're strictly gaming you want something with lighter actuation force?
Not that I would know much about it 😂
Not really no
It won't bring any competitive advantage
I see
Light actuation force will just make you press key when you don't want to until you get used to and that's about it
yea
its the initial placebo effect of the switch being easier to press that make you think so
I see. Honestly given how much the mech keyboard community talks about this stuff, I thought it'd be a very important factor in their purchase decision lol. But I get it now
Is there much difference between tactile vs linear switches btw?
companion cube keycap I printed earlier
depend of the switch
if you compare cherry red to cherry brown ... there's not much difference between them ... the cherry brown feels like a scratchier red with a very small bump ...
but the bump is still there and some people like a bump that small ... but imo you don't get the best tactile experience with cherry browns
some switches have big round bump like the halo true or the kailh box burnt orange ... it feels nice and different from a sharp bump ... sometimes I like to switch to those just for a change of feel ... that kind of bump is noticeable but since it's kinda round and long it can feels underwhelming for some people ...
some switches have a sharp and snappy tactile bump like the akko lavender purple, akko ocean blue, kailh speed copper, kailh silent box brown ... those will probably feels the most different from a linear as the bump is quite obvious and you have to overcome it to press the switch ... that is great to avoid undesired click of the switch specially if the tactile force is higher.
I was just listing the switches I tried personally ... I know there's way lot more switches that can enter into those categories ...
Been a huge proponent for Silver Speed switches, but it really comes down to personal preference, and experience. You really have to be careful with the silver switches because it's easy to accidently press a key without even realizing it, so it took a lot of getting used to but it's so enjoyable and quick to use now idk if I could use anything else, maybe the Kailh Speed Copper's or Hall's switches
yeah it's a matter of preference ...
sadly people are mislead, mostly by gaming marketing, into thinking that they will perform better in game cause of those switches
I find very much so, but the difference inbetween the main subsections is really tiny, like a kailh speed gold vs a cherry mx blue isn't going to actually change much besides just a "feel" and sound
Linears have the big thing of just having a very stable experience pressing them down and at no point throughout the actuation will nothing change
Tactiles have a bump somewhere in the middle of the actuation that lets you know the second the switch actuates which is something I personally prefer.
Coming from someone who used to use blues(tactile), then got a keyboard with optical blacks (linear), I felt no difference at first. However, typing on tactile switches now feels like precisely what @formal juniper mentioned in the last line - just a bump somewhere in the middle of you pressing that key.
Melody96. Had it for a while and it was p good but idk how I feel about recommending 96%(1800r). Its kinda cramped but hey if that suits you go for it
I like your words magic man
Thanks a lot for the detailed information! You guys too @formal juniper @torpid ginkgo :D
So I guess I'll start with Browns first since they sound nice and then try to branch out to linear maybe?
You know I'm getting in the wrong hobby when an entry level keyboard costs more than the rent of my two bedroom apartment 🤣
Entry keyboards can cost anywhere from $50 to $170 USD or a little bit over. Like mine. A $170 board
My rent is 120 so 🤣
Oh.
Will be even lower once I move to a different city for college
Plus keyboards cost a tiny bit extra here because import fees and stuff. Unless you're buying Keychron
120 a month?
i mean there are some for like 30 bucks
Yeah. Converting to USD
dude that must be the shittiest place every damn
The cheapest I can find here is a Royal Kludge for 55 USD
Redragon K552 kumara LED backlit mechanical gaming Keyboard (Black) The Redragon K552 kumara isn't your average gaming Keyboard. Not only is it over-engineered and built to take a beating, it is loaded with features including heavy duty metal and ABS Construction, double-shot injection molded key...
120$ sounds average for rent at least where i live
No lmao I'm not from the US. I'm from India so, 150-300 USD is the average
ah
It's quite nice actually, in the city
the place i plan to rent cost as much as like 1 budget build per month
As for the keyboard prices, it's just a funny observation really. Imported keyboard costing as much as rent in this area 😂
k552 is always solid
lmao
its the one im gonna get for my build
outemu only hot swap but if you can snag the version with reds or browns it's pretty nice. plus points if you switch to akko switches too
nice!
yea i would show my build in making but this only for keyboard
I'm planning a build with my cousins broken one soon. PCB died so i'm just hoping i can find someone selling one like last time lol
lol
150 euros what keyboard should I get
You'll be fine with aa Razer Huntsman, ngl
I was thinking of getting a Razer Blackwidow v3 Mini. Is it a good 65%?
with yellow switches^
Anyone know a good 60% keybaord to get? I Found the corsair k65 mini for £80, with cherry mx red switches which i've been wanting to try.
NEW
ducky one 3 mini, anne pro or rk61
Keychron got good keyboard and can come hotswappable which I suggest you get
Nah, quite expensive at 100+ dollars and the TKL version is out of stock
Wait for it to be in stock ... it's better than the k552 for sure
And better than the RK
Kemove snowfox
But it's also 50 dollars more lol. Maybe my next keyboard. Don't wanna spend that much on my first mech
That's the one mistake you'll make tho ... not spending enough on the first one and wanting to change way too soon ... save that 50$ and get a good one from the start
Also anne pro 2 is just meh at best ... spacebar stabilizers problem which requires to desolder the switche to fix ... I would get the gk61 or the snowfox over the anne pro 2 any day
I would but I can't right now. A broke college student 😢 though now that you mention it I might delay this purchase until I can get a better one?
Yes you should
Alrighty thanks for the advice
When you have the money get the most expensive one on your list ... if you don't like it return it and get another one from your list and then have some extra money for something else
Alrighty then I guess we're waiting another month for the Keychron to be in stock haha
Also isn't the keychron wireless and mac compatible...
I like how I only ever see TKLs out of stock but then I go to keyboard enthusiast groups they're all about that 60% board. Interesting
Wireless is a nice to have feature. Could see myself using it a lot when I wanna connect to my laptop. Mac compatibility doesn't matter to me, never had a Apple PC and don't plan on it either
Although if it's Bluetooth it might not work well with gaming, since latency
What I like about the durgod fusion is that it has a 2.4 ghz dongle that I use on the pc and has 2 bluetooth connection that I use for my phone ... I can switch on the spot from one to the other
What I don't like about it are the switches which are cherry brown and soldered
2.4 Ghz is the way to go
Yes totally
Also the on-off button is on the top of the keyboard which is quite convenient
Y'all getting me too hyped for this lmao. My parents are gonna be real disappointed and judgemental when they find out I spent 100+ USD on a keyboard
But hey, YOLO
Well if you spend that much on the keyboard and it's the only one you get and last 10 years ... that's quite a low amount of money there ...
Explain that to a boomer who only uses Logitech membrane keyboards for 30 dollars and replaces them every 10-12 months. Aka my dad 😂
But yeah I agree with you
Your dad is probably the same age as me tho
How old are you
In.the 40's
I keep coming across keyboards I like but they are US/ANSI layout instead of UK-ISO. Should I just deal with the US layout?
Okay you should definitely talk to my dad lol
i really wanted to get the hyperx fps aloy or something but its US layout only
I was looking at the Keychron K7, Razer Blackwidow V3 Mini and the Epomaker GK68S. The razer was the only one to have ISO
Meh razer
I've heard Razer has QC issues these days
Don't get popular gaming brand is mostly what I would say
I mean, I have a Basilisk Ultimate and haven't had any issues but idk what their boards are like
razer mouse are usually ok ... not their keyboards
I have a cooler master mouse, would never get one of their keyboard unless they release something way better than what they have ...
I saw their ck721 and it looked cool but doesn't seem to exist anywhere for sale
most of the time you can have a keychron or something else for less money that will be better ... that's why most of the time gaming brands are frowned upon specially when you get in the high end of the gaming keyboard
like bad build quality, cheap abs keycaps, not hotswappable, shit sound ... and such
honestly I am completely at a loss as to what to go for then
it depends of what you want in a keyboard and what you like
I need a 65% board that has bluetooth with tactile switches
is cherry brown ok for you ?
that doesn't weigh the same as a car so that I can use it to travel with
cherry brown is fine
durgod fusion if you're ok with the look ...
but it's expensive
but quite well built
iso layout as well, forgot to add that
mmm yeah not a fan of the fusion tbh. Just added bulk I don't need
don't ducky only do wired?
I don't know
not into ducky that much
maybe the system 76 launch ...
keychron Q2
yeah $285 is wayyyy too much
yeah it's a lot of money you have to pay if you want to get a good keyboard
gk64 would be the next pick
Yeah but I don't have that sort of money to spend on a keyboard
yes I know what you mean
I wanted to get the Q2 ... too expensive once it gets here ...
yeah the q2 is expensive
had to spend the money on a car battery and some winter boots instead and I will give up the idea of getting the Q2 for now
also, I don't want to spend that sort of money on something that I am going to be travelling/commuting long distances with
check the nuphy air 75
it's made for travelling ... I just don't know if it comes in iso
I don't think it does
Keychron K6 Compact Wireless Mechanical Keyboard (UK ISO layout). 65% Layout. Wireless or Wired. Users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
yeah I was thinking that too. Its quite thick thought. Might have to buy one, try it then return it
or I'll just go with this and make do with ANSI https://epomaker.com/collections/mini-64/products/epomaker-gk68xs#Product_Reviews
Hot Swappable Mechanical Keyboard The GK68X/GK68XS is hot swappable which is a rare feature among mechanical keyboards, this means you can easily change out your mechanical switches for a different type, without any soldering or effort. Want a different typing feel or sound? Simply change out the switches, and you can
there's the K3 if you want to wait for it to be back in stock
I started with browns myself of the g710+, they're tactile and quiet just not THAT tactile compared to others
@unkempt dome would it work if I bought the razer phantom key caps and put them on a k6?
I'm trying to source some Blacks. Newegg has a 10 pack for 8 dollars. Is that an ok price?
if the keycaps have the + shape then yes since the switches on the k6 are normal switches and have the + shape
hey guys has somebody fixed razer huntsman series pcbs here?
mine's spamming T key can't seem to fix with switch replacement I guess it's a laser problem
the infrared is blinking when switch is removed afaik it should not
I believe they do so it should work
Assuming most real keyboards have 100 keys, and it's 8 dollars for 10...then...I'm better off just buying a new keyboard
On a scale of 1-10 how hard is it to learn an ergonomic keyboard?
mechanical keyboard users
how do u clean your keebs
I am finally getting into the world of mechs
give me advice
See, you’re catching what I’m throwing
Y’all all In this chat buying expensive ass keyboards
Like damn
Just buy a Logitech
Smh
logitech sale strat in India is horrible
the G512 and the GMMK white Ice are equal in price
I want something silent-ish
Why not?
I mean I made my keyboard for $300
But it feels nice and I love it better than company made keyboards
It’s personal preference really
They aren't real

gmmk is a good keyboard ... bit outdated at this point but still worth getting it imo
Outdated?
Isn't it only an year old?
Also, it'll be my first, so...
¯_(ツ)_/¯
No it's not just a year old
Outdated as it's only 3 pins supports, micro usb instead of type c and, if it matters to you, north facing switches
Also 65% and 75% layout would be nice to see there ... but I guess it doesn't matter much since you want full size
Also for the same price or less, keychron has bluetooth
but u can get gmmk barebones
stop joking
pin of shame
silent switches on a prebuilt is hard to find
at least not as easy as regular switches
Can you give me recommendations, then?
Mechs are rather hard to buy in India
Import charges are too high too
Meckeys is the only decent supplier I've found so far tbh
Same
And this is one of the only ones that ticked the boxes for me on Meckeys
that is... what I was looking at
there is Keychron
but
not full size
Full size exist tho
Maybe royal kludge
Well get the gmmk then
Gimme a second I know a place
that is the one I've wanted for SO LONG
but Import is deadly
almost triple rate
Living in India is a crime lmao
gg man, thanks
these look great
You're welcome!
Btw for future reference, if you need accessories or stuff
That's where I got the link from. Someone in here shared this with me yesterday
Sure!
does anyone know how to use macros in the VIA software
here it is
specs right
uh
anubis switches, tofu60 with dz60 pcb and brass plate, ifk comfy keycaps
and its got pcb and case foam
any opinions on friction fitting the pcb with a gummy o ring
Looks good. How do you like the Anubiseseseseses?
What is Logotech Bolt? I guess Linus decided we dont need a video about it? How long has it been around?
they're pretty nice
good actuation force
they are factory lubed but we know how that always goes
nice and thoccy
lol i've never had factory lubed ones but i've heard about it
looks to be the replacement of logi unifying
or the more secure unifying

So, i gotta buy all new recievers?
Thank you so much!
yea
bolt is not compatible with unifying
Any recommendations
It's not even USB 3.0 1st Gen version 1...
you should try some out first tho
What a missed opprotunity
What’s the main difference
Between them
Im having a non mechanical keyboard rn
But I don’t want a loud one
the targeted audience of the bolt doesnt need extra bandwidth or reduced latency
so theres no reason for logi to do that
tactile will have a tactile event (a change in switch resistance that lets you know when the switch got actuated) whereas linear has none
and if your current keyboard is a rubber dome one, i will guarantee you that even linear switches will sound louder than your membrane
I see
Im currently using
A darksky from speedlink
And I’m worried now i didn’t know bout keyboards switched
And I got a keyboard recommended the g915 and it’s linear
silent linear barely matches rubber domes in terms of loudness
although how loud a keyboard sound will depend on the chassis the switches are in as well
not just the switches
Do you recommend linear to people that haven’t used mechanical before
i wouldnt recommend them blind
i would say that you gotta try them first before deciding
i gone in blind, and thank god i got used to it
if i didnt, i would waste tons of money into it
It would seem I need to contact a sales department to buy a Bolt product...
hello
I kinda wonder, is there any mecha keyboard with the size of K380 or K400 (where the keycaps is not bulky)?
it exists if you build it
you can make any keyboard you just need enough money
Amazon wants me to have a business account to buy a Bolt device.
Hackaday wrote about my 3D printable switch design files going public! https://hackaday.com/2022/01/17/3d-printed-magnetic-switches-promise-truly-custom-keyboards/ (so yeah, you can make your own custom Void Switches now 👍)
(the tutorial/reference PCB is also public now too: https://github.com/riskable/void_switch_65_pct) Though if you plan on ordering one let me know so I can triple-check everything (I haven't ordered one myself yet because I plan to make a version with RGB lighting and an IR sensor at later stages of the tutorial)
hot.
awesome!! saw chyrosan cover these a while ago and always wanted to try and get my hands on them
I'm intrigued by the zeal clickiez ... but they are so expensive ... 17$ for 10 switches it's awful ...
can anyone recommend any cheap iso keyboard kits
That keyboard is interesting ... https://en.akkogear.com/product/blackgold-3068b-mechanical-keyboard/
But something concerns me which is that sentence : 5-Pin Hot-swappable(except for Number 1/2 due to bezel angle of Type-C connector);
Does this means that the switches on number 1 and 2 are soldered and the rest is hotswappable... ?
Anyone have some experience with that particular keyboard
Can I mix and match my key switches?
yes
hotswap makes it easier but you can desolder
i finally got the keycap set i've been waiting for :3
Wait so like a few keys can be cherry mx red?
yup, just have to do a little work
wdym?
either you pull the switch out of a hotswap board or you desolder it from the pcb
where can I buy a hotswap? I'm searching but I can't find anything
Like I want to find a case and board
something like a gmmk?
Sheesh. Waiting for your case when you've already received your keycaps and switches is like waiting on the toilet when you've realized there is no toilet paper and you're not sure if anyone heard your "I need toilet paper" shout.
my tp person got me anti-bacterial wipes instead of tp so now i gotta wait for the tp to get here
hmmm
dude, those anti-bacterial wipes can leave a mighty rash. I may or may not have some experience.
like a pcb a case and a plate
you looking for something in stock or willing to wait a bit?
Willing to wait?
I guess
?
like
bakenekos wouldn't be a bad idea either
sorry if I missed any details from earlier. I may have responded too hastily
I joined the Freebird TKL group buy. So will probably be waiting until May for my case.
https://keebsforall.com/products/freebird-tkl
I am not planning to make this a full time hobby. It's too expensive, imho. I just want a slightly quieter option to my UNICOMP M4 replica with buckling springs that can wake the dead with their mighty clicks.
analogy wise, i meant i got the wrong case and now im waiting for the new one after everything else arrives
ah! I catch your meaning now.
does it work with cherry mx?
NovelKeys use cherry switches, so yes
i received a lily case instead of corne lmao
how'd that happen
small company i bought it from ig
KeyHive?
like it looks too good to be true
yes. That is 36 for approx. $14
not all switches are expensive
thankfully

nice
this website you sent is really good
Thanks!
do these still have the qc issues or did everglide fix that
That's cute haha
is that cardcaptor sakura :o
among other magical girls, yes ^^
its hard to make out xP i only recognize sakura at a distance
oh totes, it has a bunch of loving references up close. makes my inner child watching cardcaptors and sailor moon on saturday mornings very happy :3
I've bought a few things from Drop (Including my keyboard itself) They're pretty nice and usually have some cool things in stock (Shipping isn't super accurate but usually comes within a week
magical girl keycap set?
its out stock
