ill probably toss in a model o, but im wondering if i should get the minus or nnot
How much does it cost?
currently on amazon $65 - a pretty bad deal, but better then the G213.
60*
although for some reason it normally costs $100
which is way overpriced
also glorious pandas or gateron browns
or kalih box brown / purple
There fully mech boards for 50 and under, most with knock offs or kailh, but if it's hotswap you can switch them out
most arent hotswap and most look... yeah. just get a $70 corsair k60 rgb pro with cherry switches
its your best bet probably
(not you im talking generally)
you can also get a Huntsman TE with optical switches if you shell out another $10
and if you dont care about mechanical but only want rgb for whatever reason just get a cynosa for $30 way cheaper then the G213
basically what im trying to say... dont get a G213
Wait it's a 100???
Gk/rk61 and Ltc nimbleback I've heard are good
hex screws strip much less easier than other screws
This
Those knock off are usually quite good tho
knockoff boards are based
a reddragon k552 is like 10$ cheaper and has outemu hotswap sockets
^
Well he said that as if knock off switches were bad compared to something else, supposing cherry here ... which is not the case
the only noticable difference ive noticed w knockoff switches compared to cherry are relatively minor and not worth paying extra for
knockoffs meaning gateron and outemu
gateron and outemu blues tend to be a little bit more rattly but the feel is still the same
normally yes, a total rip-off, onsale rn for 60
i actually funnily enough like gateron switches more then cherrys
it's about normal tho
I mean gateron usually have better feeling and are usually smoother than their cherry equivalent
clickjacket switches have never been good in my experience
Same
the mechanism for them is just never going to provide any sort of satisfying solid click
Exactly
This isn't really true imo
Well the outemu blue I have have way more rattles than the cherry blue I had
Don't know about gateron blue ... the only gateron switches I have are the yellow
wtf is my wifi really that bad that it just wiped my other message
@lime charm keychron c2 is like 10$ more and is hotswap
if you really need a fullsize
how so?
if you are talking about switch "rattle" you are talking about housing tolerances
gateron housing tolerances are just as good as cherry, if not better
i mean the noise
the click on gateron blues just tends to be a little more rattly than cherry blues in my experience
oh like clickjacket noise
yea
housing tolerances on gateron have always been better than cherry in my experience stem wobble is somewhat more prevalent but i'm an akko shill so i don't really daily them enough to care
weird
could be that i have only tried gateron switches but my sample of gateron yellow has some big housing wobble
although could be because of me opening it up for lubing
Same ... gateron yellow have stem wobble ... I've never opened mine
i guess i got a good batch of gat yellows
stem wobble annoying though
i can push around my keycap on my gat yellows like an old xbox controller
gateron stems are generally larger than standard ones so it's baffling gaterons have stem wobble still
The Roccat Pyro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with RGB Lighting is aimed at ambitious gamers who are ready to embrace mechanical. Its switches boast an optimized 2.0mm actuation point for a keystroke that feels both responsive and reliable. A reinforcing brushed aluminum top plate adds robustness, w...
do u guys think it looks good?
fine but enter key is
@pallid trout Do you know how to change out the button caps of the Swiftpoint Z without breaking the mouse?
just no. Enter keys. Should. Not. Be. Lines.
Other than the fact it has an unnamed linear switch, is super overpriced, and doesn't look very nice (it just seems to gamery)
edgy*
I got a glorious gmmk
Came with gateron browns but I don't like those very much
Thinking about going to kalih dark yellows
if i dont like it
i can send it back
its amazon
i daily dark yellows i enjoy them a lot, my first linear switch
Is there a website that contains a list of keyboards which you can customise the search to narrow down the one that you require?
like if it's 60% or has customisable rgb or the main one I'm looking for is whether it's an ISO layout or not
Nope.
But I imagine you shouldn't have to break the mouse; the bottom is held by Phillips screws.
is there no off the shelf keyboards that are tkl or 75% that are hot swap ?
Glorious GMMK TKL
How cheap
i have been looking for a while i want to buy a key board that i can later get a case for and so on
150 gbp
tops
is there no standard for keyboards ?
its a lot more expensive for me
Rip
unlikely
it's probably your stabilizer
I'd recommend bandaid modding it
since I'm assuming you don't have a keyboard with hotswap switches
and you don't want to desolder
so just shove a strip on bandaid fabric across the lock and press down
if you can you can also try doing something called "the holee mod"
honestly I'd recommend just searching it up
i have
along with holee, lubing, and wire balancing
are these good quality keycaps
Kind of want to order
If I do hopefully I don't get a super light or clicky switch
Well 110 switches would cost me 43$ usd so 55$ cad ...
For that price I should get 90 akko switches instead ...
Well I'll skip for those mystery switches ... cause it's expensive once arrived here and with my luck I'll just get cherry blue anyway
pretty sure they do
they sell plastic cases for gk61s plenty and i wouldnt be surprised if they were compatible with other pcbs too
Ordered the mystery switches
$20 shipped for a 110 box
Hopefully I get something good
was at the pc hardware store and they had a romer g mech board out for testing
surprisingly OK tactility. like a little bit lighter than a CS blue but i have to question why anyone would buy them with those keycaps
iirc they made them when cherry still had the patent for their sorts of switches but man
I mean the trigger and fingertip button caps
It felt really awkward
another run
yo
can anyone recommend whether i should get gat yellows or blacks?
im planning to buy a keychron k8 hotswap as my first board
Do you like heavier switches or a bit lighter or really light ?
i know there are but i was thinking if there are others that have after market cases coz i want a tkl or 75%
not sure on the tkl/75% side but there are plenty of universal 60% board cases
Are there any keycaps that are cheaper and similar to these https://kbdfans.com/collections/keycaps/products/np-pbt-eva-08-keycaps-set (NP PBT EVA 08 KEYCAPS SET)? Anything with pink and Japanese characters and English characters?
SPECS Profile: NP Profile Production Method: Dye-sub Material: PBT material Total Keys: 181 keys Friendly Reminds: Only Keycaps included, no keyboard Compatibility Compatible with Cherry MX switches and MX-style clones Compatible with DZ60 ver3, DZ60RGB, DZ60RGB-ANSI, DZ65RGB, KBD67 MK II, KBD67 lite, GK64, KBD75 PCB
akko world tour Sakura caps
pretty sure they also sell a pink SA profile set too
Just snagged an nk65
nice! what color :0
It was between blue and beige got beige
niice
need to get my hands on a beige board one day
love how they look
sounds awesome!
hear some rattle on the left side of that spacebar though, but other than that, sounds really good!
wait actually not sure if thats rattle or ticking
it was ticking so i have to do smth about it
yeah, i modded it right away after i got the barebone kb kit
i got a ducky rgb one white mx blue
love shape and spacing of keys
also frame feels good to rest left pinky on
what would be a good upgrade
ducky while good feels low cost, hollo sound
i want something that you can wack your friend in the face with a knock out
how much are you willing to pay? ideal layout?
do you want something prebuilt or are you willing to build?
something from a store, im not too keen on lubing up stuff just yet and ducky is about 159 aud so no more than 200 aud
ideal layout just full size numpad etc
no media keys or extra bindable things
ducky and das keyboards, and filco look nice
thin bezel, i dont really like the raised caps either
tbh was thinking of just getting ducky rgb one 2 (the new one but same basically) its just hmm i wouldnt mind something a bit better
also those curley detachable cables look hella flash
ACR98 from akko maybe?
keychron C2 is also very nice
keychron k4 is made of alu, has a hotswap option and is a nice compact full size as well
if you don't like the switches that come with the keychron you could probably just try some other ones with the rest of your budget
whats the lighting effect in all of the GMMK White Ice Edition promos? i dont reckon its available on the GMMK, correct?]
ran out of lube and wasnt able to lube stabs lol
Ducky mink is pretty good, just change switches and it's great
update with this tailor's stab mod sort of helped the rattling but i will still for sure lube he stabs when i get lube
it's an attempt tbf, does it work?
Hi, I've been trying to find a new keyboard I want one with the soft click sound what you all probably know what I mean but I can't find any. I'd appreciate any advice. I thought I found a good one but it sounded really loud
if you search soft click keyboard sound you most likely will end up with something that has blue switches in there ...
which is not that soft
O rings
yep haha
first one didn't because i used backlit pbt but this one is sittung on my escape key rn
Can I replace the switches in my k100 (cherry mx speed, i wanna change to brown I think)
Or are they alr the best
Alright then Q1 is a cheaper GMMK Pro now
You cant buy the knob on its own unfortunately (not unfortunate for me though) but if you want to buy it with one you can. Looks like it can be removed too
Sure but you need to solder
Oh
doesn't the q1 use abs keycaps? and qmmk comes with PBT? that's a pretty massive difference
Some people prefer aesthetics and sound over objectively better performance
The keycaps that come on the gmmk are kind of 🤮 in my opinion
The material of the key caps won't make you more performant in games ... it's a matter of preference
this is my sound test without lubed stabs i only used the tailors mod, im still waiting for my stabs
there is still rattle but less than stock
i hope someone can give me feedback, thanks
do remember that these are abs keycaps i just ordered some pbt ones
The only tangible performance metric for keycaps is durability
Wtf did you think I was talking about LOL
Accidentally broke the usb end off my Keychron cable. Anyone know where i can get a aviator cable with a usb c end?
My first mechanical keyboard!
plenty online; amazon definitely has some, just look up custom/coiled cable
akko also sells some cheap plastic ones for about 10$ at least here
nice!
hope you're happy with the board, man
great that the fonts on razer boards are rapidly getting less gamery
To me, fonts are just fonts lol
but ye, I'm very happy with it
how do i install the left shift key ISO layout keychron q1
Have you tried googling it
pretty sure it doesnt need a stab and you can just put it in?
turns out i got ansi keycaps lmao @ionic briar @shadow marsh
My first build. Box jades, epomaker GK68, and cherry blossom caps (108 set)
Is there a cheaper alternative like the NP PBT EVA 08 KEYCAPS (https://kbdfans.com/collections/keycaps/products/np-pbt-eva-08-keycaps-set) ? Something with Japanese and English writing with pink and white color?
SPECS Profile: NP Profile Production Method: Dye-sub Material: PBT material Total Keys: 181 keys Friendly Reminds: Only Keycaps included, no keyboard Compatibility Compatible with Cherry MX switches and MX-style clones Compatible with DZ60 ver3, DZ60RGB, DZ60RGB-ANSI, DZ65RGB, KBD67 MK II, KBD67 lite, GK64, KBD75 PCB
Ive just built my first keyboard, when I plug it in the sound that indicates a new usb device has been detected plays (all good so far) and then the lights come on but I cant type, the letters just dont output anything onto my screen, any help?
What kb
Maybe u need to flash it, if it’s qmk or via
Use qmk toolbox and follow the instructions, it should be fairly self explanatory
any1 know how to download the software for the rk68 keyboard?
Amazon.com: Snpurdiri Wired 65 Percent Gaming Keyboard, 68 Keys Mini Keyboard RGB Backlit, Quiet Ergonomic Waterproof Mechanical Feeling Keyboard, for PC Mac PS Xbox Gamer, Typist, Travel(Black-White) : Electronics
What's your overall budget anyway
Like 30 dollars lol
Yeaaaah, save up
It’s not that my dad is getting me a gift and I’m trying to make it cheap
Yikes, now I look like an even worse person than I thought of myself
It’s alright lol
I have a g.skill KM360 and one of the rubber feet came off, and I accidentally lost it.
Anyone have any nifty little fixes for that cause now my keyboard is slightly off balance and bounces a little now and I hate it lmao
You could buy rubber feet
Ye just try reflashing
excuse my empty brain for not knowing this lmao
im a complete keyboard noob and have ever had a mech keyboard before can anyone recommend whether i should get gateron blacks or yellows, i have done a bit of research and have heard the yellows are really good but the blacks are quite similar
smoothness-wise yes, they are similar
blacks are a little heavier than yellows tho
just get whichever sounds most appealing to you. gaterons are so cheap
Thanks for the suggestions
i dont know much about keyboard mods but blues are very loud, i have a gpro x keyboard and i want to get different switches for under 50 cad. the quieter the better
One side of my space bar still sounds rattle even though I've wire balanced them perfectly
Any tips?
And the keycap is straight
Get gathering reds and some lube and they'll be quiet ag
ok thx
do they all have 3 prongs
Yes
Wait prongs?
yea
You mean pins right
yea sorry
Just wanted to make sure
ok
question
first keyboard buld here, when i insert the wire into the bottom hole in the stabilizers, it goes in but i dont hear it click and it's easy to pull back out, also a lil wobbly in there. wtf do i do
wait do i have to clip it into the hooks
OH
i did it
Yes
cool thanks, only swapped out switches a few times
uhh wait how do i insert into the pcb, they're screw in durocks
you can get a redragon k552 or sm
its pretty chea p
you guys like the gmk striker set?
iconic, but overrated
gmk olivia is a better set imo lol
Anyone have any idea why one side of my spacebar sounds rattly while the other is perfect?
They're wire balanced btw
And the keycapd pretty straight
I have durock v2s
did you try to swap the switch ?
I had a problem with long key with the akko sponge ... some got stuck down and were not coming back up ... I tried all the stuff you tried and in the end I just changed the akko sponge for an akko lavender purple and it fixed the issue
the rattle might be coming from the switch not working properly
That sounds more like interference though
nah it's not interference
like the spring not strong enough to push the key back up
well i tried with blues and i cant hear anything
it was probably just overlubed
yeah
is it still ok with a red ?
its the same
i also have some other cherry profile spacebars
which sound a lot better than the oem one for some reason
even though the cherry ones warped
We're you drinking acid? It looks like it dissolved the keyboard
I got a razer cynosa v2
cool. that's a membrane
Id drdisrespects keyboard worth it
Or mousepad
Like is it decent i know price will be up cause its a content creators product
I would say no tbh
Okay
One hell of a fire
imagine liking thock
jk you're entitled to your own opinion
imagine giving a single shit about what your stupid keyboard sounds like
yeah...?
Agreed unless it clicky or loud
People can like what they like. You like loud, go for it, so long as you're not using it around other people who might be bothered by it
preference is preference but you gotta be considerate
that is not something humanity is capable of
because "annoying others is funny" or "It is mine, so my opinion is all that counts"
that's their fault then
Most human stay children until their last hour
Ah yes, keyboards
this is a keyboard channel sir
ofc
saying something as simple as that draws out the copers so easily
Imagine having a thing you like and going into a community to talk about that thing with other people who also like that thing
Oh I like my keyboard very much, it probably sounds better than all of yours, but I dont give two shits about how it sounds and I think people who do should spend their money on something more worthwhile.
People like different things and I think judging them for it is... well, it's not how I'd choose to spend my mental energies
I don't spend much of it at all on this
I call them cringe and watch them try to defend their pointless obsession with how their keyboard sounds
I only judge people who use clicky keyboard in public spaces
chad move tho tbh
or those that for some reason use portable speakers in restaurants to listen to music
i'm glad you like your keyboard, what u got
rf 87u 55g
I have topre switches too, I like 'em
i'm personally maining a modded k65 lux with bobas
like i said I dont give two shits about how it sounds and I certainly dont care what you think of it
but yes it does feel very nice
i mean alright but you could be a bit less rude about it
sure
you're either in this hobby for two main reasons: you want your keyboard to feel as nice as possible, or sound as nice as possible
or both
or neither
This is just a hyper-niche piece of an already niche hobby (PC Building)
And there is many hyper-niche options
Networking, RGB, Watercooling/PC Mod Polishing...
I just want something that isn't black and red, or uses cherry switches
I was in this hobby for both in 2016 until I realised 95% of it is fomo and greedy scumbags utilising artificial scarcity without any repurcussion
In a way its an arts and crafts project with a sense of shadowed eliteism and Apple-esque Polishing (But DIY Style)
agreed
I mean, it's the same as audio
those who just want one to use, and sounds good enough
or those who want the best of the best, and hate on anything that measures bad
tho I can't say much, as am closer to the second
the people who measurement shame gear are a very small part of the overall audio hobby
Pick yer Computer Hobby Sub-Genre and Tinker;
2 channel is many times larger than headfi
depends in what form, actively hating or just "that sucks, get this instead"
Audio
Keyboards
Watercooling
Overclocking
IoT/IT
Linux Ricing
Windows Ricing
Computers in odd places (Carputers for example)
etc
Or if you are rich with too much time on your hands... all of the above.
windows ricing is a thing?? LMAO
lookin clean
Then you got things like "oh my posh" which is Powershell with those zsh themes and shit
that does look pretty good tbf
Heres one for eye-destruction
ah yes
I mean, it could do well in some themes, but rather not do rainbow at that point
would have to be a cyberpunk theme with one or two colors
as neon signs
This is powershell.
to much colors
and hard to read text as they are white and black text on bright colors with a dark background
very tru
This
facts
Plugged in my dz60 keyboard for the first time, it was detected by the usb, rgb turns on and everything seems right but when I press a key there is no output, any help?
have you flashed the pcb with the firmware??
using qmk or via
it is required that the pcb is flashed for it to work
Oh I didn’t realise 🤣, thanks
via should detect your pcb already
so download that first
Yeah, I’ll do it later I’ll just play on my other Kb for now but in the mean time, thanks a lot I was really worried
sweet board!
i guess thats a tofu60?
the finishing has me thinking bakeneko
can't wait for the Q2
does anybody here have stock c3 tangerine v2's?
gib win11 themes
Hey, I've been thinking of getting a custome mechanical Keyboard but I've been having issues funded where to by switches. Where does one purchase switches?
amazon's got them
kbdfans, aliexpress, shopee as well
The Matcha Green, Rose Red and Ocean Blue switches use progressive springs yet the Lavender Purple, Radiant Red and Vintage White switches use classic extension springs. The purpose of releasing the Custom Switch (CS) series is to offer more options to keyboard enthusiasts as every tiny bit of ch...
What keyboard ?

Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
hey guys i'm looking for a keyboard or custom keboard for less than 200 euro that is tkl and has linear switches any one know anything?
No one knows anything
Anyone know what RGB software supports Asus Tuf K3 and M3 together, other than Armoury Crate/Aura Sync? I tried OpenRGB and SignalRGB, the former supporting only the mouse while the latter supports none.
i recommend you look at aliexpress
there isnt much choice for us europeans
i got a Akko ARC75 kit which is pretty cheap and you can have the whole keyboard for like 150 or 160 euro
one is a real akko one and one is a wanna be
what's a good keyboard under 25$?
Get a redragon k552 its 35 or 40
Hey guys I want a good keyboard, I definitely want RGB, and was hoping for cherry switches, any advice, live in Ireland so not sure if I have same opportunity as elsewhere?
Varmilo, durgod, leopold (not sure about rgb), ducky ... they all have prebuilt with your requirements ...
I would check out keychron tho which have gateron switches and would go for that instead
Specially an hotswappable version
How do I get a perfect spacebar I've tried everything I know
Durock v2s
-band aid molded
-holes molded
-wire balanced perfectly(no ticking sound when pressed on either end when on my phone screen)
-heavy and light luring
-straightening spacebar (using a 3d printer bed)
-switching switches
Should I just get staebies
durock v2s are pretty easy to make sound good
so idk what's up, but from the information you've given you could have faulty stabs
is everything done perfectly?
I think so
But
I do have an extra pair of stabs that came in the box
I could try using those
yeah try using just lube first
OK thank you
You're probably right one side of the spacebar sounds more rattley than the other
Or the pcb and plate could be slightly bent
But that doesn't seem to be the case since all the keys look straight when the boards assembled
if you’re looking to buy i recommend /r/mechmarket
any recommendations for foldable keyboards aound/under £30? ideally with a trackpad and function keys and preferably also be able to connect wirelessly and wired?
thx for qny help in advance
there is this one but the keys are tiny
RK ROYAL KLUDGE RK925 is a 60 percent Bluetooth foldable keyboard with mechanical switches on the market. For iPad, tablet, phone, gives you the perfect screen angle. Connects with up to 3 devices via Bluetooth Mode. The Small Wireless Gaming Keyboard also has wired mode with USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable.
and this
which is probably the best one i can think of
So I'm having an annoying problem with my Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2. For some reason, my space bar will press 2 or 3 times with only one press. I tried giving it a dust, but nothing. Am I gonna have to take apart the mechanical switch to clean it? Or is this a common problem with this keyboard?
might be dirty where the switch and pcb connect
if you know how to desolder i would recommend you clean under the key
pretty clean but a coiled cable would look minty
worth a try
if that doesnt work the switches leaf could be sticking / broken
I just put in some new foam into my keyboard
And I love how that sounds now
That dense car foam stuff really is nice
i have a potentially ignorant question, im only asking out of curiosity,
but after building and modifying my own keyboard, i dont understand why someone would pay as much as 3 times the cost of a prebuilt gaming keyboard. they sound pretty similar and feel the same. is it the fact that i built it? i dont understand, im sorry if this is rude and i dont mean to offend, can someone just explain
because you've got full control over the parts, design, etc (and can get much much better quality) ig
instead of "here you've got RGB, 3 switch options, black keyboard, and a load of rattling"
"full control" as long as you are on time every time that is
Good sounds! whats the switch
Gazzew boba u4t
MY hero. Thats what I got. I dont think Ill go back to anything else for a while
"famous last words"
Zealios V2 are really nice too, Im not sure which one I prefer for now
have to test both for longer
But Boba u4t are 4 sure the better Holy panda
the feel is pretty similar, but the Holy panda feel somewhat weird on the bottom out
And the sound is just so good with these, I love it so much
with linus :)
Well, you can modify every part of it. With Gaming keyboards its just the switch option, and even there you only get 3 options that are all (subjectivly) not good. (Speaking bout Cherry mx brown/red/blue)
LOL the concept is for enthusiasts for sure. Its like buying a pre-built computer vs building your own. You can go crazy with custom water cooling loops vs AIO etc etc. This time around you would be say compromising on some aspects that dont matter to you and spend more towards the things that does. For me say I would care less about the RGBness and the case itself. and x100 for the sound and feel. (thock life)
and no your prebuilt do not sound anything like custom lubed built keyboard. It wont come close
can anyone reccomend me a keyboard for 50 dollars
Rk61 is decent
logitech g413, while it's on sale
wish they made like a $50 TKL version without the USB passthrough, that thing is awesome for a cheap mechanical keyboard
i didn't realize it didn't have reds, they feel good to me
a $50-80 keyboard with actual cherry switches is going to be worse anyway because the whole frame will be plastic and the stabilizers will suck
g413 is solid, aluminum plate
i guess if you think you'll change switches, building your own with hot swaps could be worth it in the end, but you'd have to change switches like twice lol
with the keyboards i've bought i absolutely would have been better off building my own sooner, but it's a bit late now
i currently have the logitech g213, and im not too impressed with it tho
yeah that one's a POS
613 also sucks
those are membrane switches
g413 is romer-g
which is like a budget mechanical switch
yeah, but i probably wouldnt buy from logitech again
okay, but it's the best kb i know of for that price
on amazon
sorry just going off the info i have
not from the US
ah, you asked for 50 dollars so i assumed
i just said that because i assumed most ppl here would be from the US
and wouldnt accurately understand the value of my keyboard budget if i said it in pounds
hmm, this one looks promising https://www.amazon.co.uk/havit-Mechanical-Keyboard-Backlit-Computer/dp/B08P4S6BWR/, but maybe it's safer to just get a good basic membrane keyboard like logitech K120 or microsoft wired keyboard 600
little bit funny of a layout and sounds like the legends wear off the keys but it looks less sketchy than some of the other knockoff mechanicals
i have an rk61 what can i do to it to make it sound better for cheap
is it the hotswap version?
reddragon k552 always a safe bet
K552 is probably the best you can get for that price point
I have an RK61 as well. If you spend another $20 modding it with blue switches, silicone O-rings, and thicker PBT keycaps, it sounds pretty decent.
final sound of my 16 dollar gigaware k28
probably
if anyone of you have suggestions on what else i can do to this board it would be awesome!
really proud of where i brought this 16 dollar keyboard
especially as this is my first time on the mech keeb hobby
and this is my first ever keyboard
first ever mechanical keyboard*
btw those are abs keycaps, the pbt keycaps i bought were overseas so its taking a long time for it to get delivered
also modded my Redragon Kala K557 and Keychron K6 Frames
and will be giving the K557 to my GF
gonna keep the 980 mini
and i sold my keychron k6, turns out i was a fan of a much quieter sound signature

ASA is an underrated profile i feel
https://youtu.be/qSbX6q51cOM
Is there any prebuilt keyboards that sound like this? (I hate spending a hassle to make my own keyboard)
no way in hell there will be prebuilts that sound like that
nope
:(
So, i don't know about keyboards and i refuse to learn about it.
What's the best keyboards for both gaming (low latency) while still retains satisfying feeling when typing
for "gaming" always check if the polling rate is rated at 1000hz for the feeling you can either go with a tactile or linear switch
for the feel. its really preference
watching yt vids wont be enough
you should be able to actually feel it
but for gaming, i prefer linear switches
I wouldnt call a cherry red smooth tho, neither are browns tactile
I wouldn't call any cherry switch nice
cherry switches sound nice, but they don't feel nice
They are fine, tho I dislike them enough to avoid paying a reasonable amount for a mech keyboard
Don’t like black keyboards, and don’t like cherry, aka I go custom for 5-10x the price just for the choice
I mean, there are some random keyboards that don’t use cherry ofc
anyone know of a decently priced prebuilt keyboard thats in this form factor just that the switches are silent i dont like clicky
fc660m with cherry mx slient red or topre?
I am a noob when it comes to keyboards, I have a cheap bundle keyboard that is of no notable make or model but was wondering if I was to get a new one which would you knowledgable guys recommend, I think I want mechanical and RGB if possible
Ohh and live in Ireland so I would think that limits my choice as well
i think ill just go with normal reds since its my first mech keyboard
btw, gotta tell you that normal reds will not sound "quiet" btw
its more quiet that clicky switches, but they are still louder than rubber dome boards
as long as its a bit quieter than my current keyboard g213
it wont btw
welp time to but sound panels
slider rubber dome is still more quiet than non silenced linear
i dont need to wake up half the house while im gaming at 2 am
tho i have heard of some cheap forms of making a keyboard quieter
thats pretty loud fuck
lemme guess, the fc660m is too expensive for you?
i think you should go for it
the silent red version more specifically
yeah ill most prob buy it just wait till the pre order period is over on some stores because i wont bother to wait longer
Leopolds
as Lam said above
are you from the us?
no
where are you from?
wait so the fc660m with that exact switch option is in pre order?
i saw one on amazon us
dont ship to mexico tho
thats sadge
might buy it and just get drops samurai keycap set
ima see if i can get some family in the us to receive it and then ship it here
down the line you can get a metal case
are they worth it
if your main goal is silence then i think id be better for thonk to stay stock case
metal reverberates :)
yes but it will look cooler
mmmh its tempting and just add foam for the noise
also if you are willing to wait you can get a custom keyboard of aliexpress with all the blows and whistles
by blows and whistles you mean cheap plastic and factory smell cause im all in
id say go akko
not really you can get a acrylic case
or something nice
one more question do you think that there will be an year of the tiger edition like the ox one ?
talking about akko
of ali express maybe
oh i found some metal cases on ali express that look pretty nice
try and mimic some of drops keyboards
I mean on their official website
if they have it in stock
ok well let me ask again. will they even make that kind of keyboard
dont think so they only make different colours not like ducky
ducky makes year of the rat and so on
nvm right here
oh yeah i remember some ducky keyboards that i really like but never found them in stock
they sell out real quick
yeah even tried the used market
they only buy them for resell
it was from the one 2 series i believe
yeah i have one rn
but they actually have a lot of flaws
the case is crooked
the rubber feet and just bad
it was one liek this that i saw
but i think it had japanese lettering
also i have a question im planning to buy some pcbs and cases for custom keyboards you guys think people will buy it ?
The UK us literally dry has nothing
also you would probably pay less by building your own
i feel the US and asian market are the biggest on mech keybaords
so anywere outside is gonna be hard
i got a acr75 and i got it for 63 gbp
and someone is selling them on amazon for 120
found some similar might track this down
akko keycaps cost like 60 gbp here and on ali the cost like 37 so i was thinking i can sell it for cheaper
but idk
also tkl is amazing
try a test sell with just one to see how fast it sells
yeah thats what i want to do
also these amazon prices are just a dumb mark up
half the price of one
rn everything is dumb
what
all of the prices
but not in china rn
or its too expensive or out of stock
china got the good price
might be cheaper to get a flight to china then come back to get a gpu and keyboards than buying online
honestly wouldnt be surprised
or you know fuck it moving to taiwan just to get proximity to china
i mean apparently they have the best internet
so why wouldnt you the best of both worlds
100% not
like i mean it has a steel build i think with low profile caps and logitechs switches
actually depends on the price
i can get one for 150
usd ?
yes
WTF
even my g pro wireless is micro usb
ew
yeah around that size i just need arrow keys
if you need the f row
no f row
then 65%
ive noticed its useless
dammit
because media keys
65 seems good
then you have a lot of options
tkl too but like extra mouse space
whats your budget ?
as long as its under 200
and if it can go cheaper i dont really mind more money for headphones and dumb stuff
perfect to take it to school
block67, nova65, mod005, q2 are aluminum
acr67, mw65, kbd67
these are all the options but then you need keycaps and switches
and i found all the options i need thx ali express
now to see which one is a scam and which one isnt
there are millions of options
you can get a dispute if it doesnt arrive
if you have a credit card or paypal you can get your money back
or debate with myself if im want to go through that trouble
ok i got a keyboard to buy in the future
i just ordered some stuff from there so we will see if i get scammed
thx
np
You can get PCBs for 4x12 but you'd have to customize the firmware for that layout I think
Like just get a Planck or ymdk and program it for that. Use the extra column for home/end/up/down or something
im asking specifically about the oled in that space
or at least the microcontroller
Oh a screen, not the O L E and D keys
yeah, my bad
I have a scenario and id like some advice if anyone has any.
My most recent keyboard broke, so im using my backup Logitech G910 with Romer-G Tactile switches that I had in storage to replace it. I like this keyboard but its pretty hard to clean because of its deep shell. I wanted to get another Logitech keyboard and I ordered a Logitech G513 with GX Brown switches, they didnt/dont have any with the Romer-G switches available on Amazon. This keyboard is unfortunately defective and has some input problems, mainly that its dropping my key inputs when a key is held, at complete random (the keyboard showed up today about 5 hours ago). I made sure it was the keyboard and not anything like USB port of firmware or anything.
As such, im going to be returning the G513 and now im at a strange spot where I would like to get a new keyboard and dont know if I should get another Logitech one. Any advice that could be offered would be lovely, if anyone could provide any. Good brands, manufacturers, switches, ect. Ive looked up keyboards on my own and differences on switches, but im still not sure what to make of it. I should say that the GX Brown switches felt fine but honestly worse than the Romer-G Tactile switches on my current keyboard (which is why I was looking into another Logitech keyboard).
Thanks, I hope someone can point me in the right direction or give me some good recommendations.
the 413 is very similar to the 513 but with romer Gs and no wrist rest or RGB
that's what i use at work since it's cheap(ish) and i like the switches. it's super solid with the aluminum plate and easy to clean
the 613 is terrible i'd stay away from that one
i guess the 512 has the tactile romer-g's too
Im gonna try a refurbish reseller on amazon selling refurbished 513s with romer-g tactile switches
nearly all the reviews are positive and the seller is approved by the amazon checker thing
I did like the 513 I got, its just the switches are worse and its defective
... Is there a channel in this discord for mice?
thinking about wiring a bunch of dapad4d's into a planck with an oled in the middle lol
just so i can use a trackpoint
anyone know what to do with 10 encoders?
How does a trackpoint figure into that?
Damn now I wish I had gotten a Tex Shinobi
crkbd trackpoint module from manna harbor schematics
Are there any good keyboards with macro keys to the left of the regular keys?
Corsair looks like it but hate Corsair keyboards
I suppose you want prebuilt?
Is the akko 3068b a good keyboard for the money(talking about the tokyo edition)?
its pretty good
either, you know a good PCB design?
i'd like them actually attached to the keyboard not a separate macro pad
via or qmk keyboards or you can use autohotkey
there is also the option to use a elgato stream deck
i want extra physical keys to the left of the normal keys, attached to the actual keyboard. may have to do my own pcb
or yeah like a qmk keyboard with a left handed numpad
idk if that exists
there is everything in the key pad area
it can get expensive
are you looking at something like this?
yeah. i got one of those but it was terrible
there is this
there are bigger ones too
or you can get a small keypad like a 40 key and just make it all macros
might work if i can find one with like 2 rows of keys
my brother's got one of those old G510s keyboards and i'm trying to replace it with something mechanical for his birthday without taking up more desk space
does he use the num pad ?
nah but he'll probably have his mouse in that area
so a tkl with a macro pad
yeah i guess i should look for a 1 or 2 row pcb so i can just use a regular tkl and set it next to it
probably the best idea
where'd you find those ones?
yeah
one sec ill get you full list
Its decent. For the price you can get something better but it’s decent
I have a question regarding keyboards. I’m currently at Best Buy looking at some keyboards they have here.
And I was wondering if the Apex 5 from SteelSeries was a “clicky” keyboard, cause it says it has “Hybrid Mechanical” Switches.
Currently using a K60 RGB Pro SE from Corsair, and I can’t ever tell if I’m hitting the keys with them.
I’m one of those cringe nae nae rhythm gamers who need to be able to tell if I’m hitting my keys or not.
Not sure, but this guide might help.
Hmm
The first question is not the thing to ask
there's no such thing as this keyboard/switch is for this and this keyboard/switch is for that
Does it click when you press the switches?
It’s a “Cherry Viola” whatever those are, and they don’t feel like they click.
well, they mainly want to feel the switch fighting back.
It isnt a clicky then
I mean do they have blacks? Cuz that sounds like what you want.
It doesn’t look like it, from what I can tell @timid thistle
They have some Logitech, some Razer, some SteelSeries, and some HyperX
And Corsair.
My biggest issue is that I do play Rhythm games from time to time and not being able to feel if the keys are clicking causes me to mess up lol
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=1 I'd buy from here personally, better options.
This Apex 5 mentions it’s a “Hybrid Blue”
well, bestbuy is really limiting your options from what it seems. I'd get a board with blacks from the site I linked. Doesn't have to be mx switches. Any blacks or heavy switch would work. The site has good guides.
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=102 gateron blacks. https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=475 silent blacks if you want feel and not clank, clank, clank. Ducky is a good option. https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=13 if you want clank.
Silent Black Cherry MX Keyswitch. A silent linear switch with a heavier actuation force that helps ensures an accurate key press ideal for gaming.
Hmm
There's other switch makers, but you can't really go wrong from this store.
I had seen the G815 from Logitech, but the price was… steep, to say the least.
I'm not a big fan of logitech and prefer ducky, tbh over them.
What’s the big difference going to a non-ish name brand like them from the “popular” ones
imo, ducky is the best cherry switch company. Cherry also makes kbs still too, iirc. Logitech is a big name, but I'd prefer their mice over their kbs. Corsair has had a lot of qc issues, and razer is more of a meme.
I'd get the ducky one if you want cherry mx blacks.
Ah, lol, I was just looking at a Blackwidow too
Razer used to be really good, but since they blew up as a larger company they kinda started having QC issues. I stopped trusting them. Corsair I go to for cases, fans, ram, and psus[psu god runs that divison now aka jonnyguru] I'm using the ducky shine 7 with silent reds, the year of the dog one. And, a glorious gaming d- mouse.
https://www.duckychannel.com.tw/en/Support this is ducky's official site for drivers btw. @slow horizon
Hmm
@timid thistle Yeah the only reason I’m switching from the K60 from Corsair that I have is due to not being able to tell if I’m hitting the keys.
with blacks you're going to feel the press.
And as for Blue?
I mean they're "okay" for gaming, but like I'd suggest browns. However, they're kinda light in comparison to blacks. Brown = all around gaming, red = fps, and blacks is like grip training.
I generally don’t play FPS, unless it’s with friends.
brown or black is what I'd suggest then.
I’m looking for something more suited for Rhythm games
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/switches/ the best guide on the matter.
each switch has a review for gaming, typing, and balance. I think you want something that's a bit more linear. But, I'm not a super pro at this.
But, mechanicalkeyboards will have better options than bestbuy.
@timid thistle Do you think that maybe it was Corsair’s Cherry Viola marketing that may be causing me to feel weird about hitting the keys?
Cause the keys on there do seem kinda weird.
gunna look this kb up first.
these look like they're designed to play fps games more than rhythm game, and they're selling more on the rgb factor from the ad.
I was looking at something and it said the G810 Orion Spectrum was something to look at.
Those boards are usually overpriced, and I've never had the best luck with logitech boards lasting that long. I feel like the ducky one is more up your ally.
Not sure about how good roccat is still, but that's probably closer to what you want. If not get this with blacks https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=3485
are you looking at the vulcan?
That actually looks decent. I kinda like the keycaps. If it has brown or blacks, that would be more likely what you're looking for.
is it reddragon?
They're not bad. They do have some meme stuff, but can you take a pic?
ya, that's reddragon. They're pretty decent.
Bad thing is no arrow keys
When I was being cheap I used to use one of their rgb chiclets. lol They do have some meme mice with overkill dpi. Well, worst case scenario get the vulkan or ducky one. Ducky one 2 I linked is about 40ish bucks cheaper than most stores have it.
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/keyboard/#s=13,1,3,107,38,28,88,19,20,63,39,55,52,73&k=1&m=181,276,17,451,453,231,51,230&sort=price&page=1 here's some I'd look at to see if they have any of them.
@timid thistle I’m actually seeing a Vulcan tkl here
well, you can always get a usb thing for the extra keys if ya need them. If not, get it.
I seldom used the other keys for calculation lmao
I did always have a problem with the keyboard taking up 50,000 meters of desk space though too
So this might help
Ya, compact/tkl is a pre of some. I have a big L desk+I got huge Nordic hands.
needs to be cleaned, but the main feature I like about this kb is the spacebar. My fiancee said she's stealing it. XD
i just flashed my dz60 and it still isnt typing? any help?
did you restart?
my pc?
try unplugging it from the computer then plugging it back in. might have to contact customer support if that doesn't fix it.
oof
@timid thistle went with the Vulcan TKL, hoping for better results from it
took me 2 weeks to lube this thing aswell
mega oof
My Logitech G910 Spec Keyboard is finally wearing out, its double pressing certain keys. (Yes I could probably fix it, but I don’t have a soldering station setup, nore spare Romer-G switches.)
Now my question is to look for another keyboard. The catch is I'd want something that is mechanical, has the same or very similar functionality, and the app is no more bloated than ghub.
Or get another G910 spectrum?
there arent many keyboards like this anymore the market has gone towards small and really small
smh kids these days don't even use their F keys, home/end/up/down keys, or arrow keys
might be me
65% is nice TKL is nice too
i'd have to start rebinding stuff to use 65% rather stick to TKL
i'd like a left hand numpad though so i can reprogram it to macros and it isn't in the way of the mouse
Yea I had noticed that. plus much of the software is really buggy or pointlessly bloated. But I figured that I would ask on the outside chance someone might know of something I missed.
i just flashed my dz60 and is still isnt typing, any help?
there are via / qmk compatible keyboards
but they still wont meet your requirements
macro pads and so on full customisation
tempted to hand wire
@timid thistleGot the new board in. It's certainly different. lol.
Gonna be probably another week of adjusting to this one
i think i have what i need to do a semi hand wired keyboard, 11.5x5.5u with case, 11x5.25u pcb arrangement of 2 mcus, oled and trackpoint in the middle u of a 10x4 1x1u keyboard, with 10 rotary encoders on top.
if you want a split 75%, the keebio sinc and the keebio quefrency both have the option for F keys on the left. Otherwise, maybe get a southpaw kb (numpad on left side) and use that as macros, if you don't want a numpad
Hey guys, quick question.
Which keyboard do you think is better.
Razer Blackwidow V3
or
Rog Strix Scope RX
It uses Blue switches so yeah it sounds nice
Nice, I got a free gift card from Amazon. I threatened a lawsuit directly to Jeff's office, so his rep gave me a gift card to apologize. I am giving Razer another chance, but with a bt mouse for my 4k chromecast. I bought a bt kb with red switches for it since it has steamlink. Used the rest on a gamestop gift card, not sure what to get yet.
Got my keeb stuff today. Did some testing with all these and came to the conclusion that I'm using aqua kings
The t1s and the crystal jades are going into seperate builds at some point though they're really nice
When my larger set of aqua kings gets here I'll post full pics. Yes I lubed the stabs btw
you should also lube+film your switches
well yeah but aqua kings are pre lubed
and I really don't care enough to take apart 60 something switches for the sake of whatever difference film will make
pre lubed switches aren't good
i would say the ultimate lightweight software is to get a keyboard where you can actually customize it in the firmware and program it to do whatever you want - then there is zero software to run on the PC and you don't have to trust a manufacturer or deal with another thing running in the background
anything labeled as via/qmk compatible is your best bet
unfortunately if you want something large with lots of macro keys, you might have to do something custom, but a better (and probably cheaper) option would be to get a normal full size keyboard with qmk support, and then a separate 9 or 12 key qmk macro pad so you can use them separately and position them to your liking, etc
Sorry to bring you down from your high horse but they feel just fine to me, switch choice is literally down to preference and they feel smooth and sound good to me so what does it matter
My current keyboard is an Anne pro 2 with gateron reds and rattletastic stabs and no sound dampening so my new keyboard when I can actually use it (ordered the rest via a seller in the same country so hopefully within a week) will be a huge upgrade
is there anything to dampen the sound of the keycap hitting the switch body besides orings? don't like how orings mess up the travel distance
hmm maybe thinner orings would work okay
what do you mean?
oh i found zealencio silencing clips, but looks like they aren't available right now, that's the kind of thing i'm after
ah i see, silent switches like zilents have rubber on the top and bottom of the stem so they don't make noise when bottoming out or coming back up
that would probably work too but i want to stick with tactile switches. looks like zilents would be my only choice
ah there's gateron Aliaz silents too
can anyone reccomend me a black decent sized full rgb keyboard for 50 £
( just the switchs rgb)
redragon k552
its the tkl one
and there are many mods for it
that one looks pretty terrible tho
there arent many options with that price range
or a keychron
from the keyboard company
only options i can think of
ill wait and see if anyone else has other options
Kailh silent box brown
Boba u4 silent
silent topre

Topre more affordable than most of the custom mx shit nowadays
Thoughts on this?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HTZQYV/?th=1
everglide aqua kings have a pretty solid prelubed feel though iirc
outemu silent grays
pretty solid
nice only $22 for 90
ordering direct from china rocks
are they silenced the same way? bumpers on the stem?
Yep
My akko keyboard said delivery id 10-14 days.
I ordered it on the 22nd and it hasn’t came
Maybe it's work days?
Hey quick question, where do I buy Krytox 205 g0? cuz I don't really trust the sites I see on google but if someone knows a safe website where they bought 205 from it would be nice to know what website that it (plz send link) :)
that is*
@fallow otter where are you from
loads of vendors sell them, its quite easy to find
https://www.mechmap.tech/ check here
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Keyboard-K1-Mouse-LightweightMouse/dp/B09422BG9P I found this and had to share it.
Just.... look at the pic and then cry.
.... nope.

LMAO
jesus christ
LMAO
bruh
i can understand someone could be hyped for a kbd75v3.1
but not for belle delphine bullshit
maybe if you're a hornball then it's fine? but even then why
lmao
This had me laughing
Tysm, buying now
is this any good because its on offer
Roccat Pyro - Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with RGB Lightning (UK Layout), black

Anyone happen to know what the diference is between clicky/linear/tactile key switches?
I'm thinking of trying out this SteelSeries Apex 7 keyboard. But not sure what key style switch I'd want.
clicky is basically tactile with more noise, linear is a smooth keystroke, and tactile has a little or big bump in the stroke @dense hearth
anyone?
anyone here had/has a keyboard from "mountain"?
is ok
i have used it
but i dont have it
its more of a gimmick than something practical
not really after the gimics but it seems the best/only keyboard for my preferences (after I've put in all the filters in my preferred keyboard comparison site)
only question on my mind is how well I can use it on linux or if I can only use it as a dumb keyboard
honestly there are custom keyboards you can build
they can cost more or less but its all preference
it supports linux and windows so i dont see why i wouldnt work
you mean the mountain? well it has features such as putting images on those displays which seems to be done via their custom software
custom keyboards get expensive quite fast, especially when you're outside of US or china
yeah i live in the UK so i had to order from aliexpress
So my epomaker 65% just lost U,I,O and the number keys are now controlling volume, play, and pause
I'm about to do some bag lubing how much should I use?
Wheres the best place to get 65% key caps
get any
just make sure it has the size you need
dye sub pbt are nice
abs will shine over time
