otherwise i could try to diy one but i never tried before
is there otherwise one with just the big enter?
Yea that's ISO
Possibly this layout but without the numpad
Thanks, didn't know
Not sure if there are any keyboards in ISO layout for 50€
what about trying to get it custom?
So what kind of paint should I use to paint a K120?
Glass bead blasting finish with navy
No
Also I want something like Pastel White or Pastel Pink
Candy Pink spray paint at home depot
What stores do you have
well we have paint stores
Why not visit one
Acrylic might work
It's a plastic case... so
sorry to bother you again .I understood that akko keycaps are good but are their keebs good?
I'd watch some reviews on the board you want to buy
I cant find any
Which board is it?
acr 87 keyboard bundle?I would assume the board is also called acr 87
I really like the aesthetics of this board. A great option for those who want an instock purchase. I hope Akko brings out more Killa boards!
Specs:
Case: Acrylic
Plate: FR4
Switches: Holy Tom and Durock Pom
Stabilisers: Akko plate mount
Keycaps: KAT Alpha blanks

Is it similar to this model?
hmm yes but 75% instead tkl
You could probably watch that
sure I will go for it
Honestly looks good?
idk if its 105$ good I am not familiar in keyboards
For $105 I think it's alright. Their switches, keycaps, and chassis are pretty good.
I'd try to keep looking and compare similar keyboards
it also comes with a coiled cable and extra keycaps
ahhh ok but will it still be good stock
sadly I cannot apply a prefrence to something I do not own.Heck it will be my 1st keeb
ahhh yolo ima buy it
I do.Clickies can just go,tactiles depends but linears are what I would probably go for
hehe went to the pchardware store and got the g502 wireless, im actually surprised i feel the weight difference. @20 grams lighter than the wired. actually impacts my aim in a bad way, ive placed the weights in. Im sure most people would consider this heresy
you're supposed to get used to the weight reduction by adjusting your sens
I had to lower my sens coming from the G203 to the viper mini
How are the pre lubbed glorious pandas? Should I just get unlubed and do it myself
$190 for a keyboard… yikes
if u wanna buy, here u go: https://discordmerch.com/collections/snowsgiving-2021/products/discord-tkl-mechanical-keyboard
Looking for the perfect keyboard to finally finish your Wumpus fan fiction this winter? Well, friend, you are in the right place and it's more than just a keyboard. So what do you need to know? 100% of all funds directly support our charity partner, To Write Love On Her Arms. The Dark Theme and Light Theme keyboards wi
hhahaah yes this is so much more than I would ever spend on a keyboard
ew
I need to bandaid mod my keyboard
I now know the addiction to keyboards I haven't even finished my first and I want to build another
190 for gateron switches is a scam
discord released a keyboard
most people should get that keyboard because of the keycaps
not the keyboard
lol
its not that expensive compared to custom options
but that keyboard probably dosent have any thock
and you should only get them for the keycaps
its looks like there will be no lube on stabz
bros Im looking for a cool pudding keyboard that isnt 60%
cuz i like my function keys
looks very cool but too expensive
and idk how good the switches are
wait so
wtf
there are multiple sellers of this
one is selling for 185 euros
but one is selling for 90
?
they're just Gaterons with a different housing
Just get a 75% keyboard and buy pudding keycaps
75% 🥱
yeah
That's pretty inexpensive for a custom keeb nowadays
Especially for a limited run
Yeah, but you can build leagues above this in that budget
Keyword here is: build
Also, limited run.
More expensive than a kitted out Q1 but you're not going to get those keycaps.
Yeah keycaps are limited
true lol
The keeb is plastic too
I've seen so much worse though so it's basically coloured how I view $200 keebs now lmao
it's also fucking Kono
who are pretty shit
the keycaps are by Tai-Hao which are just...not good
and we also don't know what row the novelties are, so
yeah
not great
Kono the upmark kangs
between Gateron silver yellow and red which would be better for gaming?
clickies aren't ideal, especially if you use voice chat, but other than that, pretty much
Hi I'm a comp sci student I type alott I have been using my apple magic keyboard for about 4ish years now. I want to enter the mech keyboard world. Any good affordable (tuition is already soo much oops) suggestions? Not much of a PC gamer so I'll be mainly using it for typing my projects etc. Also not a big RGB fan but wont mind a static light.
Thanks.
What do you currently know about mechanical keyboards?
I'd like a good keyboard recommendation, currently use the Logitech k480, it's broken af.
Wants:
-cheap
-bluetooth
-mechanical
-backlight
Preferably from India, so I don't break the bank on shipping + customs
TBH nothingg. I have just used my brothers keyboard and I have watched Linus's video ps pls dont hate me.
Alrighty
There are three primary types of mechanical switches:
Linear
Smooth from top to bottom
Clicky
Tactile, clicks when actuated (activated)
Tactile
Tactile, but has no click jacket
There's also spring weight, or how much force you need to push down the switch.
Cherry Reds, for example, have a lower spring weight than Cherry Blacks, giving the former a much heavier feel.
If you go to an electronics store that sells mechanical keyboards, chances are they'll have a tester there.
umm yepp. I would preffer the red switches I like the blue ones too but they're too loud I feel.
I did test them My brother has a tester lying around.
Ah okay.
So you want linear switches?
Yess. I feel having the clicky sound may be annoying to the rest and sometimes me too.
I spend about 12-14 hours a day typing. They might get me in trouble I feel.
The browns are good too.
Could try silent switches, though I'm not sure if there's a keyboard that has them on by default.
Ohh. I dont want to make one rn I feel it's too early for me to make one.
Fair enough. Linears and tactiles should have around the same amount of noise.
I read black switches might be tiring for long sessions. I am currently buying another keyboard as a gift for someone who mostly types and went with brown.
could do QMX clips on a factory board if you want quiet
I guess I tried them both.
Now whats this?
basically a drop in "mod", easy as replacing keycaps, no tools required other than a keycap puller
Unless there's a board with them stock, I'd rather not trouble them with modding, even if it is easy.
Unless they don't mind.
oh okay.
Not really anything to it beyond pulling caps, pushing them on, and putting caps back on, quite newbie friendly
I don't as such I'm pretty good w hardware but since it's my first I don't wanna go about w that.
Lemme check youtube.
browns, reds, or silent reds are probably the best widely avaliable options then
seems like silent reds are the only silents really in mass market boards
could you show me a vid couldnt find anythingg.
membrane keyboard best
well reds and browns are fine I dont wanna go super silent. I feel the slight clicky-ness is what I ilke.
still a bit of that no matter what switch you use, just a question of volume and tone
oh no they're weird.
Mechanical keyboards offer very good product features in terms of reliability and precision. With the QMX-Clip GMK deciced to deal with one of the last drawbacks of this technology: NOISE
The QMX-Clip features two-way silencing properties, both for pressing and releasing the key and reduces the noise by 10 db(A).
The result is a whole new typi...
[wtb] gmk keycap puller
uniqey still ships them with the clips
oh shit, TIL
i don't like using that style of keycap puller anyway though
fair enough, they theoretically can scratch the keycap
the QMX clip installation tool has the clip tool on one end and a keycap puller on the other
ooo, interesting
i've heard this one is pretty good: https://prevailkeyco.com/products/gateron-keycap-puller
This is Gateron's new keycap puller, it uses the same metal body as the switch puller but with a rubberized bottom. This prevents scratching or damaging the keycap when pulling it off the board. This design also utilizes the same release mechanism, press the button on top each time to release the keycap.
same sort of style but there's a mechanism that actually closes and opens the "grabbers", and the grabbers are rubberized as well
it really struggles if: your plate is tight, or if your plate is flexy
gotcha
i find with tight plates it just sorta fails
with really flexible plates, it's liable to just push the plate down off the switch lol
oh thought you posted the switch puller
Idunno about the keycap puller
ooh this is super easy.
thats the idea really
Yea, seems to work best with mass market steel plates, nice and rigid
i stopped using it lol
most of my boards are acrylic or pom, so I can't use it most of the time
Keychron finally came! Gives me so much more desk space to do hw
neat
already miss the delete key
this loooks neeeaat.
Here's a better pic
anyone know a good keyboard custom build? Budget 300$ UK shipping required
also id prefer a 60-75ish%
I believe thwy ship to the UK
do u know how long shipping is?
I dont
any recommendations for keyboard switches? to be used for gaming and work
Shipping from china to the US took about a week
Linear switches are good for gaming and work. I recommend akko rose red switches, smooth and affordable. For productivity a 75% keyboard is a must have. For a custom build you could look into the Akko MOD007
Yes I’m getting the Q1, but from a website called loob.no
Has all the Q1s in stock. So I’m planning on getting the black background with red/black key caps. I also thought the ‘holy boba’ switches sounded insane but not sure where to get them from
Sounds good
im looking for a good low profile mechanical keyboard
the only one ive found so far that is close to my vision is the hexgears x1
i really really really prefer small thin keycaps
the issue with that specific keyboard for me is that it isnt actually completely white ngl
where get round $150 full size keyboard with cherry mx browns?
we're looking at the glorious GMMK full size, bare-bones and buying a pack of switches elsewhere as my friend already has a nice set of keycaps
you could just get the barebones and buy a bunch of brown switches
i tried gateron brown switches and they feel really mushy
there's no such thing as these switches are for gaming, these switches are for typing and such ... it's only a matter of preference
i just changed the keycaps after the soundtest
but now it sounds much deeper and muted because of the THICC MT3 Dasher Keycaps from the DROP BOGO sale
I love the look of the mt3
I LOVE THEAi love the snug fit of this in my fingers
Cherry / OEM / SA / MT3, i reach 100+ WPM on them all so its just a matter of aesthetics and feel now rather than where i type faster
do akko make good keyboards?
cant choose between dugod k320,acr 87 and a akko tkl onepiece edition
which one should I pick
id go arc87 tbh
i like the look lmao
at least it has a universal theme
rather than the onepiece edition, u are stuck with the design
and the arc87 is pretty new
so probably new materials and such
What would u recommend tho, I know it’s preference, but honestly idk what I like. I think tactiles are nice, and I would use it for gaming and work 50/50
any recommedations in 2021
for gaming keyboard
my budget is 85 euro
90 dollars
i like the steelseries apex 3
looks cool
Now i have keyboard with omron browns, it was good.
I wanted try other keyboard. and wanted ask if kailh brown are bettter quality??
How's the tactility? Tried gateron browns and they feel awful
omron browns was good but broke in 1 year
this why ask if kailh browns are better quality
I think they are very good
ye but Corsair out my budget
iCUE can be a bit annoying tho
It’s a Christmas present tho
i looking at SPC Gear GK630K Tournament Kailh brown RGB Pudding Edition
dont know how reliable is kailh switch
its only for gaming
Corsair K63 looks tight
redragon keyboards look good too
cheap but quite decent
@hasty saffron Alredy did order. Modecom Volcano Lanparty 2 Outemu Brown.
The what you use keyboard for has nothing to do with the kind of switches you have to get ... read about each global type of switch (linear, tactile, clicky) and try to find some place to test them like a shop or something like that... or get a switch tester ... also don't associate cherry brown to other tactile switches... cherry brown are something of their own I would say to be polite
My gf has a keyboard with kailh brown ... it's 3 or 4 years old and still working perfectly
You will be sick and tired of the keyboard before the switches are tired of working ... unless you play hardcore osu 24/7 ... nothing survives that for years tho ... and if it fails just replace the switch and that's it ...
Also the usage of the keyboard has nothing to do with the switches you get, it's only preference
out of the ones ive seen online, holy pandas and t1s look like my favourite
The I would say get T1
any particular reason?
Panda are reputed to be a bit overrated and there's better things now such as the T1
What is ur choice
Not a gaming brand keyboard
2021 and we still talking about "gaming" keyboards
Yeah ...
Just get a decent mechanical keyboard, it will perform the same as "gaming" keyboards
up to you which switch also, no switch is "for gaming" than the other
others might like tactiles, might like linears, might like clickies, but u do get faster speeds when spamming in linears, but again, depends on how you are used to the switch
example like me, i've been using a Redragon Kala K557, yes it was branded as a "gamign keyboard" and my GF bought it for me some 2+ years ago when I knew nothing about mechanical keybaords, now I am still using it and is still alive and is no different from corsair and shit, with their overpriced stuff
you can try to go keychron as their products are nicely built, and IMO are worth their price, i am using a Keychron K6 right now, despite the side switch being broken (The switch to bluetooth and to cable mode) and despite buying this as a third hand owner (first 2 owners murdered this already + the hotswaps are kinda loose now) it still performs the same and is a nice feeling keyboard
or u could go Akko prebuilts route if you want their designs
Ducky is also another keyboard thats overpriced and doesnt offer a "better" experience than other brands
You ain't gonna see a 100usd topre unless you buy a jis one on buyee
Corne 😎
lots of deals pop in my place, i just didnt have the extra cash to steal it xD
Nice
are bluetooth 3.0 wireless keyboards good for gaming or do they still have too much latency ?
any bluetooth is not good
i will only trust logitech's lightspeed technology, but thats not bluetooth, thats still using a dongle and a 2.4ghz connection or some shit
even bluetooth 5.0 is not good, if u want wireless, go wireless but not bluetooth
cool thanks @chrome raft
fuck bluetooth, all my homies hate bluetooth
projecting the name and type of device you're using across the galaxy to all your neighbors

fuck bluetooth aint no way im charging something that stays in the same metre squared for 5 years straight
Leopold has manufactured their own topre boards and been a oem for topre in the past as well
Made by brands, some parts are straight from topre
Ie domes and housings
Ye
Is the keychron k8 a decent keyboard?Talking about non backlit aluminium
keychrons are decent
Ok
Just finished this build a month or so ago: TOFU60/1UP HSE board/lubed gat ink black v2
can someone confirm whether the primary on MW Heresy is black or dark grey?
sounds great, what switches are those?
also why do i feel like i see mt3 dasher pretty much everywhere
Keychron K6
-tape modded, with pe foam under pcb
-RK Stock Red Linears :PepeLa: unlubed
-Stabs lubed
-MT3 Dasher
the RK Stock Red Linears are just replacemetns because i bought this 3rd hand
the guy gave me the stock switches from the new board he bought
still sounds better even unlubed
but for 30 bucks
i can't complain
lmao
because of the Drop.com BOGO on the MT3 sets recently
ah. why haven't i heard of this
i bopught the MT3 Dasher with a friend from drop.com
got 2 setrs for 110 usd i think, plus shipping which is relatively cheap and fast when using forwarders to my country
thats sick.
what country?
ohh massive oof.
then the MT3 sets in the local marketplace popped up
people were selling it for 85 bucks +
so i guess mine is still a deal
well now i gotta check this shit out! even if i use a pathetic modded k65 lux i can still snag a deal
good luck!
drop.com may have some new sets incoming
they are clearing stuff
lots of discounts recently
yea
wait, why do i feel like this stuff has ended recently
it probably has and i missed it
🙁
Are keychron brwon switches of equal quality to gateron browns?
Keychron Browns afaik are just gateron browns
keychron don't manufacture their own switches
i personally am a Linear gang
me too but the store I am buying from only sells k8 with blues and browns...My ears dont want to get annoyed so browns will have to do
is it hotswappable?

Thanks ♥

sometimes my i key will like enter multiple i's when I just press it once
could it just be a problem with age?
my keyboard is a k70 rgb with cherry browns
about 5 years old
the switch seems fine
no splitting on the stem
does it stick? or
anyone here actually with the logitech g915?
I dont think it sticks
i dont know
I dont usually get it while typing normally though only while gaming
so maybe if i light strike it it sends multiple letters?
what is the lifetime of the individual components of the keyswitches like
cuz im for sure over millions of presses
I had an issue with my 2 key a while back where it just kinda... jammed
like 50 mil if I remember correctly
ive used them daily for like 5 or 6 years so i might legitimately be getting close to that
but you're not gonna reach that unless you type every day for several hours at a time
for 6 years
not several hours a day
actually idk
probably something like an average of 3-4 hours a day for 6 years
gaming/typing
I had to fully replace all my keycaps because the stock corsair ones started splitting
that's fair, corsair keycaps are super ass
the new keycaps?
ye
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
yeah those are def better than stock
stock corsair keycaps back then were ass
stems are quite thick
actually i still has 3 of the stock keycaps cuz these ones didnt fit so lemme compare
its only now they've gotten better iirc
yeah idk i dont think its a problem with the keycaps its gotta be the switch itself
like i said i had the 2 key jam up
most likely
it didnt work for a few days
worked
then didnt
then worked
now its been fine for months
and if not, its the pcb
could be the pcb now that I think about it
the 2 key jamming must have been a problem with the switch itself
it physically jammed
yeah that's a switch issue
maybe the spring is worn out on the i?
like a slight manufacturing defect
cuz logically the 2 and i keys wouldnt be the first to go all other variables controlled
im not sure
the switches arent hot swap so id have to desolder and disassemble the swithc
it feels like at that point id be better off just taking off the back and cleaning the pcb
dont think so
idk i dont think the damage would be that minor though wouldnt the switch just stop working
water is more likely
because electronically the switch is extremely simple
its the same principle as a light switch
yeah
ah the keycaps are hyper x i think
yeah the complexity in keyboards is in the variance of material properties if you really think about it
thats the only difference between 2 keyboards
the strength of the spring the type of plastic the cable coating the backplate material etc
would these be compatible with eachother Keyboard keycaps https://www.amazon.com/DROP-Redsuns-Samurai-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B09BYNSTCH/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=keycaps&qid=1639197904&sr=8-3

This product is only the switch of mechanical keyboard, excluding keyboard. Support common RGB and SMD. Gateron switch The red black white yellow switch is a linear switch that moves up and down without any additional tactile feedback or loud click. For the operating force, black > yellow > Red >...
also what would be a good case i forget if that's the proper name
also what are some good stabilizers
They should. The caps fit MX-style stems, and Gaterons usually have MX stems.
Do you have a budget?
Including the keycaps and switches?
I need a cheap yet decent w i r e l e s s mechanical keyboard with red switches

and also no bluetooth connection, dongle is better
I do not like Bluetooth
keychron is the best i can thnk of
but bluetooth
damn

i can only thinkof logitech
idk if coolermaster has one
but logitech and corsair has
but
they are just overrated boards and over priced

I have no knowledge about keyboards
if it has no 2.4ghz signal, and is wireless, is def bluetooth
2.4ghz wireless means it has a dongle of somesort, much likehow other wireless devices are like mice
big hertz = less delay, yes?
not really
oh
not necessarily
im just saying if it ha 2.4ghz in the description, is most definitely wireless
its how companies name their products most oif the time
when they list it in online shops

i was gonna ask perseus something but it looks like ur busy
As long as it works, doesn't break in 3 days, is quiet (if mechanical) and doesn't have too much delay, I want it
try rk
royal kludge
they have both 2.5ghz and bluetooth, just use the 2.4ghz connection
just pick which RK layout you want
I hate that shopping sites here just say "wireless"
And don't specify if it's bluetooth or dongle

ok I only found 1 wireless keyboard
and it's bluetooth
I hate everything

Keychron K2 looks nice, too nice that I'll cope with Bluetooth
but fuck me, it doesn't support Linux
of course it doesn't
why would it?
Fuck Linux users in particular.
"Oh you use Linux and want to use our product? Too fucking bad lmao"

It costs 1.2k lira
soundtest of my keychron with Royal Kludge Red Switches
im using it wired
cuz bluetooth switch is broken kek, which is fine
is Royal Kludge RK68 dongle or bluetooth?

id go rk71 doe
mfw it's 1.2k https://staff.tnylnk.org/img/16501111122021.png

mfw the keyboard costs half as much as my laptop
f
How about I just
rip the cable off my k120
and crackhead engineer a wireless dongle for it?

Durgod fusion have a 2.4 ghz dongle ... but it's far from cheap
Check out varmilo maybe

what d you guys say about silent alpaca keys?
they're silent
is there any keyboard using em or do i have to replace the switches of a normal one with these ?
i'm assuming you'd replace the stock switches of a keyboard
so sth like a custom keyboard from wasd keyboards and then replace the switches?
unless its specified in the product
Keyboard: Keychron C1
Switches: Gateron Reds with Kailh Black stems + Durock 67g springs, switches and springs lubed with 205g0, filmed with Durock films
Stabs: Standard plate-mount stabs, wires balanced, Holee modded, lubed with 205g0
Dampening: Packing foam case dampening, Tempest tape mod
Keycaps: Milkyway Heresy
thoughts on the parts list?
you could get a much much better board for the price
What would you recommend?
i cant recommend anything
Nice
anyone get the mojo68 keyboard from kickstarter ?
I personally love the Lenovo TrueStrike Laptop keyboard on my Leigon 5, Does anyone else like those with their nice feel?
Looking to buy a Keychron L2 V2. I want keycaps, any cool keycaps suggestions with MacBook keys?
Keychron sells their own, you could look at those. They include mac keys
Not sure what the default key caps are, but like you usually wants to stay in the same family of key caps. Like cherry, OEM, GMK, DCS, SA, MDA, XDA, DSA
Here is the K2 keycap layout and size chart overview. The keycap is designed for the Keychron K2 keyboard. Different rows on the keyboard have different heights and slope profiles and Keychron K2 keycap uses OEM profile with MX style. Therefore the K2 keyboard is compatible with other OEM profile keycaps in the market.
Ooo
Bruh, if you can help me find a link to buy these that’d he amazing
???? the gateron reds are stock.
they come with the keyb, I'm just swapping in kailh stems for that long-pole clack
Hot
I'm surprised you haven't commented on the keycaps
hey suggestions for a mechanical (preferably hot swp.) under 100usd?
any specific things?
thoughts on Keychron Q1 with JWK Nylon T1 Tactile Switches?
If you like them, enjoy them.
Yeah any specifics?
gonna buy
It's going to come down to preference. If you can get a sample, do that.
They don’t ship to India from their.com website. And on .in website they only have Retro keycaps in XDA and OEM profile. Those are the only two keycaps
I like xda profile ...
Yaha phle 18 percent tax dene ke liye tayar rhna
Thinking of buying a tenkeyless keyboard, but I absolutely need a numpad. Is there an elegant wireless numpad in the market?
Sala 1.5 lakh ka pc 2 lakh ka parta hai
There are some but I don't know which are good
And don’t forget the 28% customs tax 🙂
Is there any way to buy pc parts without gst
I just bought base model MacBook Pro 16, and Apple care for $3600+ lol. I know what’s it all about
Mac kyu liya
Because I use Mac as my main machine. PC is only for gaming and YouTube.
Mai isiliye apple se durr rhta hun.
Not worth the indian pricing
Oh working professional?
It’s worth the pricing if it’s making you money and it’s hassle free.
I'm a new college Student from this year
Mainly, it’s hassle free.
I need a pc now no graphics cards are available at good prices
Stick with PCs for college life. If you stay in college dorm, you’ll need Windows for all the LAN parties you may have.
Or windows laptop
I hate laptops
Can I get by with pc?
I'm in ECE
IIT Kharagpur ( ya show off)
I think we should move to another channel. We are going off topic here. Tag me in another channel
so why get a TKL keyboard, when you're just going to add another 50 keys
you have never played war thunder
even this may not be enough keys
what does it mean when my keyboard just holds keys for a second extra or presses them like 2 seconds later for no reason? even if the keys i had pressed at the time still worked
broken
lol
yeah i know
hows the royal kludge rk87 for anyone thats used it?
looking for tkl keyboards with linear switches/rgb and found it
Reviews are good.
Apparently
I haven’t used it, can’t say
interesting
CRT monitor
S /\ M S U M G ** ** SyncMaster
yes, syncmaster 955df anyway what do you guys think of my keyboard
is it a reddragon
Can anyone link me to keycaps with Macintosh legends? (Command and Option keys)
Are the Everglide Panda v3 stabilizers worth the extra cost compared to the v2 ones?
Any advice on relatively cheap mechanical keyboards? got a budget of ~200€ but the more bang for buck the better.
Atm have a k70 from corsair where one of the switches have broke, ontop of that circuitboard on it is fried so it laggs up sometimes with the software running due to an unfortunate event involving a cat and a glass of water.
so far i've tried out various brands switching from logitech to razer to corsair etc over the course of a decade or so but nothing has really been outstanding so far in terms of design. // switches
my friend spilled coke on my huntsman
i did unplug clean it up and today it works but the switches are sticky
so when i press it stays down and slowly comes out
what should i do? ive never spilled anything on keyboard before xd
How did you clean it? Im thinking if you have the possibility, take the switches apart and clean them
Teadious but doable
https://kprepublic.com/collections/switch/products/130-switch-switches-tester-with-acrylic-base-blank-keycaps-for-mechanical-keyboard-cherry-kailh-gateron-outemu-ice-ttc-ormon-ysa are sets like these any good to get an idea of what I wanna use
130 Switches Tester Spec Total 130 switches(pls check switches type as the following pics) With Acrylic Base With Blank Keycaps(Romer-G Switch have no keycap) The switches are detachable and interchangeable from the acrylic base. Some switches may be disassembly parts, such as cherry old brown and old blue..... Pls, pa
I can't see how a singular key could help
Comparing 130 switches seems excessive, personally. If you already know whether you like linear, tactile or clicky, that can help narrow things down
Yeah I didn't mean that one specifically but I mean just the tester kits in general
like how much can you learn from 1 switch
while we're on that I've only ever had reds. Cherry reds and Gateron reds and I was recommend durock teals but I can't find them
It's better if you can test a full keyboard, it's true. I bought a cheap tester when I was first getting into keyboards. I still have it, it's a fun fidget toy, but wasn't that useful.
Yeah thought so
so I know an eye roll is coming but I have a walnut tofu 60 with some foam and I'm planning on ordering the following, what would be a good smooth linear choice that preferably would not require me to take em all apart and lube them. I want a nice thocc sound (that's the eye roll part cus har har everyone wants that sound)
I'm also using metal caps if that's worth mentioning
the seller has said that switch choice won't matter too much but the space bar is worth a consideration
Keychron Q2/Q1 or Akko MOD007/005
thanks!
keep in mind that lubing your switches will result in a deeper sound. if you don't want to go through the pain of lubing stuff yourself, you could always buy pre-lubed switches - will say that loobedswitches is a good provider i think.
shill moment, but my friend has a code "STANLOONA" which should get you 5% off on your order
That would be perfect yeah
use da link: https://loobedswitches.com/?ref=stanloona
prelubed stabs too? very nice, what lube do they use do you know?
dunno how much it matters but I know everyone uses krytox 205g0 I think it's called
ah I see so you can choose what you want but holy moly that is a little pricey
guessing that's the price you pay for the extra effort
XHT-BDZ is hella expensive on its own, which might be why. but I've heard it's super nice
it was an extra 4 pounds over the other option
what do they have as far as good linear switches go
looking at diamond switches rn
damn I'm really better off doing it myself lol haha
my b I'm at work
did you order already?
nah I'm not ordering yet
I'm still waiting on the sale of my old computer before I do any of this cus I've still got christmas stuff to do
a lot of people like Black Inks, Alpacas, and Hippos
I personally like Marshmallows but those are OOS
Black inks are super heavy though right?
what is filmed by the way? is that just further noise dampening
a little heavier I see with that 70g bottom out but that should be fine
it's the adding of a thin plastic or gasket film in between the bottom and top housing of the switch to reduce the switch's apparent wobble, mainly in the y-axis
cool
i springswapped my tangies up to 69g and prefer higher spring weights so to me that's pretty good for my preferences
do have a friend who swapped his inks to 45g lol, sneeze and you'd actuate half of the board
still sound really nice in his Vega tho
actually, the Aqua Kings might be the move, they sound really nice and deep from what i've seen
I'm used to my gateron reds and they're quite light so dunno how I'd be with 70g
i'm asking my buddy which of the offerings he thinks is deepest sounding
lemme ask someone else too
cool thanks
side note: filming will also make the switch sound deeper, depending on the material of the film, i think
specifically Deskeys films which are made w a gasket-like material
someone else told me the Inks and Aqua Kings would be your best bet for a lower pitched sounding board
they only have 3 aqua kings left so 30 switches F
switches and plate are the 2 biggest factors IMO to how a board will sound
next would be foam and/or the inclusion of the Tempest mod
plate materials to consider for a lower pitched sounding board, polycarb if you like a flexy typing feel, carbon fiber if you want a more rigid feel
oh, i forgot the mounting style as well, gasket usually will sound the deepest
My tofu 60 is gasket mount yes
ofc, there's always outliers and stuff
I'm fairly sure the BM60 pcb supports that but actually not sure
did you mod it to make it gasket mount? @rare bone
no it's ready to go as a gasket mount
i thought Tofus were tray mount? unless we're talking about the D60?
i think CF is usually deeper sounding compared to more rigid materials like brass and steel
It's advertised as gasket
this is a good vid to watch btw:

interesting, most tofus i've seen are tray-mount, i'm curious about your kit, would you send me a link?
Updates: The next batch is expected to arrive on 12/20, 2021 Specs Typing angle: 6 degree Structure: O-Ring Mount Dimensions LxWxH1xH2: 30.3 x 11.8 x 2 x 3.3 cm Compatibility: DZ60 v3, DZ60RGB V2, DZ60RGB-ANSI PCB, etc. Only retained four screw posts and one threaded hole to make the PCB more elastic Include Case x1 St
that's the one
oooo okay this one's gummy-oring mount as a kit, that's dope
yeah it was like £25 I'm very happy with it
hmmm wait, i think this might actually be closer to burger-mount?
not a clue lol
https://keyboard.university/200-courses/keyboard-mounting-styles-4lpp7
basically tray mount but you "sandwich" the PCB between 2 o-rings
Even within the same form factor and layout, the internal makeup of a keyboard affects the overall experience. While there are several ways to alter and aim for that desired feel and sound, one of the primary factors that will help you estimate your eventual build is the keyboard mounting style.&
this is a good resource, i'm gonna steal this, ty!
huh, TIL
i'd heard that you're more likely to get a thock with CF compared to brass which would give you more of a clack
Do white keycaps get dirty super quick?
Unless you eat nachos at your desk and then typing on your keyboard without cleaning your fingers first, then no
this
Mine are just fine.
As with everything, just don't abuse them.
cooler master ck530 v2 is good keyboard for 80 euro?
hey i have a ducky one two mini and i wanted to know if anyone knows what the top part it called that you can take off im trying to change the color
Inks and Aqua Kings will be your best options methinks
any experts here who could help me?
j
The keycaps?
i don't know much about keyboards and i'd like to buy a new keyboard soon, here are the specs;
100%, backlight (doesn't have to be RGB), silent red switches, preferrably wireless
i don't really know where and what to look for, so could someone here please help me find a keyboard that would suit me? (my budget is ~120 usd, but it can be more than that)
If you didn’t need backlight I would recommend a filco majestouch
I don’t follow most of the current budget stuff so don’t have a suggestion with backlight off the top of my head
So I'm looking at getting a split keyboard, my past experience with such was basically back in the ps/2 days with the Microsoft Natural Ergo and when that thing broke I got like 2 other offbrand similar style keyboards over the following years. Now I have a TKL CM Storm with red switches.
Looking at what's out there I'm not sure if I should take the plunge and go Ortholinear with the Moonlander or stay staggered with the Dygma Raise. One thing is price too, and with the tenting kit the Dygma comes out a couple hundred € more expensive.
I work with terminals all day long and I play games night when the kids are sleeping. Any suggestions on which to pick over the other? Price is not that big of a deal breaker.
U could try something cheaper to test out the column stagger before splurging
back in the ps/2 days
Did u ever have one of these lol?
I’ve used both column and row stagger split boards extensively
If you want the easiest transition possible, a more typical row stagger is easiest
But if you want to try it, column stagger is good also
Just how much effort you want to put in
Both of those have tenting, that’s another must imo
It’s much more comfortable to type with tenting
@thorny steeple take a look here for some more options first https://gist.github.com/itod/ae27b30f7517dc18b8df110c1d98bccb
Thanks @urban glade. And yea I think the ortho might be a bit of a learning curve for sure, then again I sit all day so I'm confident I can grind it out. I've seen plenty of other ortho keyboards that are not split but I don't want to turn this into a hobbie. The Dygma does look really good though and I'm wondering if the thumb cluster might be easier to get used to on that keyboard. A feature that I'm not sure exists on Dygms buy on the ZSA is the "tap dance" bit when configuring your layout. So one key does multiple things depending on wether or not you click, hold or double tap the key.
I'll check out the git link and see if that makes me any wiser. 😀
I’ve had issues with tap dance, but that’s cus I have bad typing form lol
I leave keys pressed for way too long
Makes 2kro boards unusable lol
I used non split ortho, not as good as split at all imo
Gonna go with aqua kings. Gonna lube them myself too cus I'm not paying that kind of money lol. Thanks for your help
Aren't aqua kings like EXTREMELY well lubed stock?
that's gonna be hell washin that factory grease off
Are they? Didn't know they did that from the factory
I'll use em as is if that's the case
Anyway to not have to open them is good with me lol
people say they kinda feel sluggish with the stock lube job
I'll lube the stabs still
but extremely smooth
good. id hate to imagine what aqua kings with dry stabs would sound like
you looking for another 5k
I don’t rly need 3, just curious lol
damn I forgot you have 2
I gave up on getting one for a reasonable price a while ago lol
I just wasn't into vintage cherry stuff early enough
by the looks of the condition yeah that seems worth
vintage in general has been pointless to pursue for the past 2 years
just invest the money in stonks
yeah, though I have had a few lucky finds
I miss having og dyesub
What if I ever have a wkl custom!!
Need spbus just in case
I thought I had found some nice caps the other week, but was just a guy who had listed a g83 with some misleading pics and title
yeah very
biggest vint L I've had to date is winning a NIB aek with oranges for 30 quid on ebay, only for seller to cancel the sale
that must've been a while ago
I can't imagine one selling for that little in the last 2 years for sure
that looks amazing ngl
oh yeah 5ks are very nice looking
It was up for only a couple hours
I was sleep when It went up, a couple friends sent me the link
wow you have nice friends
Anyone have the Razer Black Widow v3 Pro and have a weird 'double type' issue?
I honestly think I need to remove myself from vintage stuff, otherwise I will waste too much time hunting
man those are some dope friends
I can just cope and stick to modern customs
though I did recently get a bnib SI board which is going to be pretty cool
But I’m completely happy with what I have so it didn’t matter much
what are your grails?
Utron, .2, g80-2k or 1st Gen 2100
is utron that japanese split
I remember a friend in japan found one last year
Yeah micro tron is super cool
apparently google thinks the tgr alice is a song lmao
tbf taeha does have an album of keyboard sounds lol
he does? this is new to me
only vintage thing I'm hunting for currently is a nice set of mx browns
those seem to be getting popular with the zoomers now though, so they are becoming increasingly harder to find
Yeah I skipped on buying vint browns from a friend about a year ago for a super nice price
and now I want to build a board with them
Gateron Milky Yellow Pros ARE COMING
time to make the sound of this, a bit more deeper and a bit more smoother
wont lube cuz im lazy KEK
looking for a keyboard thats mechanical and has macro keys anyone lead me to a good one around $100
that's great! personally i won't buy them since i dont like the sound of milky gats but i'm glad ppl can get them if they like them
buy extras, like 30 or so extra, that way you can remove the overlubed ones
just no
lmfao i've heard of people bag lubing stems when they're super lazy
it was common before 205g0 became a must for some reason
for the kemove shadow, anyone has an idea about how I can turn backlight to red when caps is on?
Was my purchase of a evga z15 with kalih speeds for 40 bucks a good idea?
Are you satisfied with it ?
I like the feel, a bit scratchy but imma probz get lube soon
And it comes with a wristrest
Sounds pretty good, will clip and bandaid the stabs once im home
Well if you're satisfied with it that's the most important point
Hey
Based af response

Anyways hru droybox

Got a new ssd so I can make my mom a nas
Is the first the same as the second one?
Is the usb dongle faster?
I'm ok ... shit day at work ... I want an office job so bad ... typing on a keyboard all day long
Also @chrome raft is there maybe a keyboard you could recommend for around the same price range?
Well I've never seen the z15 keyboard ... I would say at least there's kailh switches in there
My condolences
Also is the first keyboard (the banggood one) have different colours instead of just blue and how much capacity is is the battery?
So, how much could you permanetly damage a keyboard by band-aid modding and clipping stabilizers?
I'm considering doing it, but wary of what it has the chance of doing to my keyboard
Thanx ... but don't worry ... I'm used to it ... been like that for 16 years
Clipping is pretty permanent but if you don't like it you can always get another stab set
The set I currently have shipped with 2, so I could replace but is it worth it?
No idea ... lubing is worth it ... not sure about the rest, never felt the need to do it
yes
RK is decent
some small modding
like the tempest and holee mod
should make that board dense sounding
get some cherry plate stabs, and you are probably good to go
it won't
you wo't damage it
bandaid is easily removeable
clipping stabilizers is also done by a lot of people
you can always buy another set of stabilizers
cherry stabs are great value
there is also durock
i have durock stabs, pretty nice
i got a set of everglides
that shouldnt be a problem at all, nice stabs
i got a few extra of the smaller keys
gonna get this keyboard once the alu proto is done, gonna get the acrylic version probably, alu too expensive but still nice
the development is underway
gonna make that left hand numpad a full on macropad
and just have a macro for it to switch to numbers when needed in something im working on the desktop
@unkempt dome its so nice having the numpad and arrow keys back lmao
i rate the kalih speed silvers a 8/10, the one problem with this keeb is the stabs
everything else is perfect
will eventually lube them
probz just tub lube them bc im lazy
not bad, i quite like the extra edge that mt3 gives to the yellows
i still don't like milky gateron tops much but it's good
the milky tops are scratchy
the pros arent
afaik
which is why i went with this
and not the Milky Top Black Bottoms that a lot of people have tried
yeah
my fav switches are tangies, banana splits, durock Ls, alpacas and cherry topped frankenswitches
jwk fanboy 😔
and brass and fr4 plates :/
yeah
thocc can be good but I usually negate it anyway since... brass plate preference
is the corsair k68 worth it? thinking of buying it but since i'll use it for a long time i wanna make sure it's exactly what i'd like
and also what's the difference between the k68 and the k70?
i'd steer clear with gaming keyboards

no different than a good mech keyboard
except OP
OP?
overpriced
oh
"gAmiNG"
what's a good cheaper equivalent i can get, then?
i'd go keychron
try K2
or Royal Kludge
lots of diff layouts
they are available wired, btu also wireless, if want, just switch between modes
the k2 is 75%
as ive said, diff layouts
keychron also has full layout keebs
or compact-full layout
same with Royal Kludge
i only like 100%
does it have any sort of backlight?
ah actually
the keys are white
so it'd still be somewhat visible in the dark
nvm it does have a backlight version
you would want leopold for that
Leopold has 1800 layouts, which imo are more sexy looking full layout boards, that has the option for cherry mx silent reds
im just recommending prebuilts here
u can always go the hotswap route and get silent switches
which one would be cheaper?
from gazzew boba u4 or gazzew boba gums
i'm willing to spend 150 CAD max
you can try the Keychron C2 that has backlight AND IS HOTSWAP, and try to buy silent switches (Outemu Silent Whites or Outemu Silent Grays or Gazzew Boba U4s or Gazzew Bobagums)
outemu switches for a full layout will cost aboud 20-30 usd
while the gazzews (higher quality) will be about 60-80usd depending on the availability
the keychron c2 is out of stock on their website
you mentioned leopold earlier, are those expensive?
those cost below 200usd
but imo, is worth it
the keycaps have a nice texture
build quality is great
switch selection is nice
for a prebuilt, its a bang for buck imo
but ofc i won't buy prevuilts sicne i know how to customize to my own liking
but never have i heard people complain about leopold, they are great
you could go GMMK full layout and just get custom switches of your own too + your own keycaps of choice too
it will still be below 200usd
but yea, i think keychron is the way to go
my budget is 150 cad
for 60-70 usd its great
here's the problem though..
i found it in stock on newegg and bestbuy
but have to wait stocks
if only it wasn't compact
ew those colours
is this one any good?
red switches, rgb, full 100%
h
yea its alright
it says here deliver to usa only
:|
oo
found it on aazing for 71 CAD
amazon*
Why are you getting bad keyboards instead of something actually good at these price points?
what keyboard would you recommend?
