im not sure if i want split yet because of my plans to try onebagging
so less pieces for unpacking? dunno
That makes sense
I’m sure somebody has made a split which has portability in mind but I can’t think of one right now
but if i ever get there i want to try making my own haha
Lots are open source so you can look through their files to help figure out what you need to do
yeah was hoping to just move and combine the crkbd halves
This has some info on trackpoints
You could use magnets on the back of them?
To connect them together while transporting
i hate magnets
makes me nervous even though i rarely use magnetic strip cards or hdds lol
Lol fair
Excuse me do I see a ps2 mouse?
Yeah qmk supports ps/2 mouse
Like the connector? Right?
Sorry I don’t get u
Qmk will always ‘speak’ usb to the computer
But you can connect a ps/2 mouse to the mcu which qmk is running on
would be cool if i could get the planck ez with lo pro
Ps2avr and it’s derivatives are true ps/2 firmware for keyboards
But they’re Korean and a pain to work with lol
One of my keyboards uses it and I can’t wait to have it gone tbh lol
what's Korean?
The ps2avr firmware
how's that work?
I just mean it was developed by Korean ppl and primarily used on their boards
All the documentation is Korean
ah
put a ps2 socket on the custom keyboard and use it as the connector for mods
that sounds rad
i thought of something completely diffrent
The gh80-3700 pcb supports ps/2 mouse pass through
Idk any with ps/2 kb pass through
I wanna change that but I’m too lazy to do it
I'm looking at switches for the first time ever lol
depedns, but mostly yes
yeah they are clicky
browns
Just try more things and find what you like
you already use browns, but what other switches?
yeah, good idea
Blacks, yellows, t1s, mx zilents, zealios, blues. Alps salmon/orange/yellow. Buckling spring.
browns are starred in the planck ez selection list
I’m sure I’m forgetting something but that’s everything I can think of right now
Oh the
Expensive gat ones
I forget their name
Dark translucent housing
Linear
i kinda want to get the planck now instead of getting used to my staggered miryoku layout 100%
but im trying to save up lmao
Topre
The switch you like the most
Seriously.
There's hundreds of choices out there, and sound profile is dependant on a multitude of things.
If you just want a cheat code then you can get a Vega or a Mr. Suit or a Jelly Epoch.
I know my answer sounds so unfriendly but that's what happens when a hobby is so subjective.
Really, the best way to find out aside from trying the switches yourself is to find a sound test for them.
Especially for the keyboard you gave or wanting to buy.
Fair, but just know that there's a very real chance it's not going to be what you want.
Aight. See if there are any sound tests with it, and maybe the switches you're looking at.
I meant the switches people suggest to you.
It's easier to just parrot everyone but it's not the way people should go about approaching this hobby.
It'd be so much easier if every switch company can send a switch sample pack, but that's not the case.
what do you mean its subjective??? i thought that the latest jwk meme switch was objectively the best and everything else before it is shit???
black inks?
ah yeah that was it
rly hated them, but the guy before me overlubed so thats probably why
wait does topre have a wierd stem?
what
thats horrible advice
How is it horrible advice?
If you somehow have no access to the switches you're interested in you have no choice but to rely on a sound test. Not every company will sell you a sample pack.
Tell me what switches you would like to get and I'll tell you how to make then "thocky"
Yo does anyone have a good recommendation for cherry mx brown switches for a custom keyboard?
The Tex shinobi might be perfect for you

Exclusive QUACK Mechanics Design!
The new One 3 will launch with an exclusive addition, the Cherry RGB Clear switch. Additionally, our brand-new QUACK Mechanics design philosophy is applied to further elevate our already prominent characteristics.
Ducky is ecstatic for everyone to feel the incomparable typing experience from the moment you tou...
Awesome!
It's honestly not that tedious. I've tried it and really the only difficulty is reinstalling the switches for the first time.
Yeah but sound test are not a great source, there are so many factors to change a kb's sound it's astounding, also reviews
Then what other choice would you even have if you cannot get a sample pack yourself?
That's the problem I'm addressing here because, again, not every company is going to send you one. Either that or you pay ridiculous shipping for one switch.
$11 CAD for a single Durock T1 is not fun.
Or just not care about the sound
saw it
it's akko lavender purple ... those switches are really nice ... so far my favorite form the 3 akko tactile switches I tested
are cherry brown good switches for someone just getting into mechanical and want something quiet?
Cherry Browns aren't that quiet.
don't need it to be extremely quiet
I know the big three make "silent" versions of their main switches.
Still not that quiet, tbh.
ah
was hoping for something with at least some feedback, dunno if i could do linear lol
I know there are silent tactiles. Just can't think of any off the top of my head.
eh, how loud is brown

no, brown are not quiet
try gazzew u4 (not the u4t) for a good silent tactile
Then don't get cherry brown ... they have one of the less tactility within all the tactile switches I tried ...
They are not that loud, they are not clicky, but will still make some noise
ngl looks like a worse akko ACR
Yeah north facing
at least ACR comes gasket mounted
should probably have noted only selecting from the the switches available for the planck ez lol
My goodness that is one hell of a board.
I love the deep red velvet caps.
this build is hands down my most expensive build lol
tracking down GMK Perestroika at a not insane price is literally impossible
one of my homies spotted me for a decent amount of it as a birthday gift
I expected nothing less from aftermarket GMKs.
i've got the Usual kit on the way which'll turn it into an english set lol
bruhhhhhh
You have some wild friends.

when i say homie, i really mean homie
i'm still waiting on some parts, some more red YOK Pandas, some PFTE tape
then i can finish the build up when the Usual kit arrives
You have a sound test?
Or are you saving that for after it's all done?
damn wish i had friends like that
Anyone able to recommend a place that sells single keycaps that are shine through?
I just finished lubing and installing durock v2s and they sound amazing but someof them feel sticky?
like if you spam it it looks like it takes a bit of time to rebound
if that makes sense
Don't really care about which direction the switches are facing. Gonna be a great keyboard for ISO-DE users that don't really wanna build their own.
tbh keychron q1 prebuilt or q2 prebuilt
Or like Akko makes ACR prebuilts and iQunix sells the L80 for like 190$
Is the xuxian or juxian red switch any good
And i wanna upgrade my keyboard but I'm in a budget
My keyboard rn is a magegee mk1 keyboard red switch
That is not worth 200 euros LOL
I forgot the switch name
It's likr a different red switch
The keyboard name is magegee
I wanna mod it but idk abt modding yet
idk what to do
its not that hard tbh
Is there a review of the Z15 and Z20 by EVGA?
looks like it's been autorouted lol
What's the best lube for nk creams should it just be 205g, glorious or something thicker?
U do know the white lines mean it hasn’t been routed yet….
ik
still looks like autoroute lol
Hi there,
I'm not sure if you guys can help me at all or anything, but I am currently looking for a keyboard for either the office or home (depending on the features/how much I like it, I may take my current one to the office or the new one). I'm not really interested in building it myself or something particularly special. I like Cherry Brown Switches (or at least that's what I'm currently using) and I'm not a big fan of over the top "Gamer" designs (like Asus ROG or the fonts used on Corsair Keyboards as examples).
I did already have a look around for keyboards on a local price comparison site (filtered by switches) and picked out two that kinda appealed to me, but I have 0 experience with either (at least with their keyboards I mean). So can anybody tell me whether these are any good (or the companies are well regarded when it comes to their RGB implementation/product quality)?
The two keyboards I had been looking at so far are:
- Ducky One 2 (Full size)
- Logitech G512
I'm also open for suggestions. I just don't want to spend more then 150€ and the keyboard has to be available in Full size German layout
It looks like it's missing the Scr Up/Down, Delet Pos 1, etc. keys. I unfortunatly need those just as much as the num-block 😬 (I'm a programmer, that's why)
You can always build yourself or go for something slightly cheaper eg top mount or plate mount rather them gasket
Would suggest going to the discord for r/mechanicalkeyboards if you want to go more specifics
*it is a DIY kit so build yourself my bad
t Arch?
t Arch?
bro i also had a project like that and then gave up when i had to manually rout the rats nest
custom pcb + 3 layers of acrylic , foam, meatal + akko rose reds +some cheap caps
and knob
yeah it'll be a bit until i do that, still need to finish up the build the stabs sound fucking disgusting lol
Fair lol
if i soldered a keyboard will it be a hotswappable keyboard now or no
If you had to solder your switches in, no.
It would now be cold swappable

should i buy another keyboard
you should not stop buying
Im looking for a cheap but great switch for $5 max
what size keyb do you have?
what type of switches do you prefer?
so like linear switches like the mx red?
17 inches wide And 6 inches long
Mx reds
Alright thanks lul
no no
i asked you if you want switches like mx red
not i recommend you mx red
if you cherry picked them, yes
but i doubt that you can buy enough switches to do so
akko cs line of switches or gateron yellow is my recommendation
I see
Try the akko rose red
well ebay obv
i checked and the cheapest ones are like 20$ on auction
i mean, how low are you want to go?
as low as i can
i just want the crustiest shit i can get
so that i can restore it
and end up with a clean half decent keyboard
or i'd also want to mod it
then go to your local recycling center if thats a thing in your country
i do
and ask them for broken keyboards
theyre all dell membranes though
actually fuck it i might take some next time i go
see what shit i can do with them
what keycap profile that custom keyboard use, specifically kb with north-facing led?
generally speaking everything under the sun except cherry profile due to concern of the keycaps hitting the top housing while the switch is part way down
it only happens to some switches tho
not all
So I just shop anything that is OEM
well oem, sa, asa, dsa, xda, mt3, etc
my keyboard is a ripoff of rk84
my first time into custom kb, and i just borrowed the keycaps from my old redragon k557
Challenge accepted
Now how much bacon grease can I apply to a fischer price keyboard...
Oh mechanical.. a k90 then
depends how low your price is...
favorite silent linear?
mmmmm, bacon grease
what you guys think on my keyboard i built myself?
gmmk 60% barebones
gateron blacks, individually lubed each one
and some cheap double shot pbt pudding keycaps i got off amazon
Just got some nk creams and they smell like fish oil... great
looks like a keyboard to me
very encouraging
is that the low profile streak?
Nope, VSG Bellatrix (ISO RK71) with XDA Keycaps
Xda is quite a nice profile
Looks alright. Kinda expect that aesthetic at this point but it doesn't look horrible at least.
i want one
What's a way to reduce ping using things I already have at home and not adding foam
Keychron q1
Btw
Already done force break
Tape mod
Is plastic band aid fine for the holee mod?
I mostly see "use fabric band aid" around the internet and few for the plastic one
i think its because plastic band aid is not as flexible as fabric stuff and it tends to not stick to the plastic surface
wait, so i just opened one band aid, the non-sticky side is fabric and the sticky side looks like plastic
and i read someone used a medical tape
wdym by that?
wait, i have to go somewhere
yea ok
this is what i meant by transparent band aid
that looks like fabric to me?
it feels like fabric right?
it feels like fabric because it is soft, and has this very little yarns of it
so i assume it's good for the holee mod
yea
i see, thanks for the little help
What if a person used graphite powder to lube
what keyboard
if it is supported by via just plug in, reset, flash with qmk toolbox
unplug replug just to be safe
and it should be detected by via
Precompiled QMK firmware for VIA-supported keyboards
Anyone know where I can get white blank Kailh Choc low-profile keycaps?
Preferably not shipped from China
Adafruit has black and clear ones that I'd be alright with but no whites
well some of these are white so it's a start
Might email nuphy seems like they might manufacture their own keycaps
See if they can just yoink a couple white ones
Thinking about swapping to kailh choc v2's for the cherry compatible keycaps but even those are taller
Or just switching to cherry low profiles overall
Think i just found it?
https://www.littlekeyboards.com/collections/keycaps/products/mbk-choc-low-profile-keycaps?variant=39466488692803
Each keycap set comes with the following keycaps: 64 x 1U 2 X 1U Homing 4 x 1.5U 2 x 2U MBK profile has been designed for Kailh low-profile Choc switches, with the following goals in mind : a scooped top, with a smooth curve made to hug your fingertips high corners, to easily find your way to the right key flat, low-pr
Comes with about 44 more caps than I need
nope
no hollee mod
they specify fabric because fabric dampens the impact
a plastic one won't do much comparatively speaking
Here's my board
Nice sound ...
t h o c c
Indeed
Well I pulled out the switches from the gmmk and put it in it's box ...
Will use the durgod fusion for a while
Even tho it's got cherry brown
no more gmmk?
i got a q1 i really like it. havent had the funds to mod it yet
that thing is heavy af
Which is a good thing
yeah
i forget how heavy though when i pick it up
the whole bottom plate is heavier than the rest of the keyboard
Which help with cornering I guess ... oh damn it's not a car ...
lol nah
I'll also get the u4t at some point too
i wanna try tactiles at some point
If you want something good and really not expensive then akko lavender purple
mk i could try em
Im lubing my stabilizers and one of them feels mushy
I tried cleaning most of the lube off but it still feels the same
any ideas???
and its not the keycap
About to order Anne pro 2. It's on sale at 34% but I'm not sure what color I want. Black or white. Both looks so good with custom key caps
whats your stab?
you have clipped the extra legs right?
pre clipped
Anne pro 2 le really meh
durock v2 pcb mount
Unless it's 40$ I would not bother
huh
it doesnt sound rattle right?
yeah
The only good thing about the Anne pro 2 is that you have the tap feature for the arrows and that's about it
like it feels like theres resistance
and theres no upstroke sound
while the other stabs have it
I guess it's how the stab feel?
I don't think it's as mushy as not clipped cherry tho
Did you lube the housing?
i did with a tissue
its also holee modded so maybe the band aid absorbed some lube?
Yea
I don't think the surock v2 need holee
You could try remove it to see if it stops being mushy
Could also the case that the band aid need some use to wear it down to non mushy level
It does I tried without holee before and it was really rattly
Then the band aid needs some use to make it thinner and less mushy
I’m looking for a wireless mechanical tkl keyboard with a usb receiver, preferably without a gamery design. Any recommendations? Under 200€
Check keykron
yea keychron haha
maybe akko too
akko makes some new boards now
just need a bit of modding and its fine
Keychron K2 is a 75% layout tactile wireless mechanical keyboard giving you all the keys and functions you need while keeping it compact. With the largest battery seen in a mechanical board, Mac layout, connect up to 3 devices, comes with wired cable option, and 15+ types of RGB lighting option.
This one
And it's a good price
Hehe
USB Receiver, my bad
i don't think akko makes wireless that you would like tho
they do have, around 60-100 usd range but, switches kinda mediocre, okay for the general peep
I don't think it is easy to get akko in uk
Nuphy air75 could be an option, its not tkl, but it seems okay
UK, i forgot that this server is international haha, mb mb
Durgod fusion ... but it's not tkl either it's 75% ... and comes with soldered cherry switches if you can tolerates them
No gamery look, no led ... only retro look
I guess its really close to my desires but I think the tkl is fairly important, I currently have a 60% and I feel like getting back to tkl would be good
yeah atleast in that durgod one it seems to only add a little to the side, f key separated from number keys is maybe what I’m most missing
and there was something else that seemed off, doesn’t come to mind right now tho
I guess if the keyboard was otherwise perfect it could even be a 60%
just that one is missing something
which one do you have right now ?
Ducky one 2 mini, I’ve gotten used to the layout so a 75% would be fine if it otherwise has all my preferred features.
Atleast backlighting.
Basic white backlighting would be enough
What do you mean by rk84 "clone"
this may explain it better
one missing feature of this keyboard is the usb hub on the kb
Hey guys so I've tried everything to get rid of my spacebar rattle and it's still there
Any ideas?
I've done
holee mod
Lubing with 205g0
Wire balancing
Band aid mod
Spacebar straightening(it's straight)
it rattle when coming back up ?
Both ways
It's a lot better but still rattles
And they're durock v2s so they aren't just bad stabilizers
It may be the keycap itself
I already straightened it with a 3d printer
Do you have a sound demo you can send here?
This is from yesterday
I just realized it sounds like there's no rattle on the recording
But there is irl
Could move the mic closer.
Yeah
I'll do another sound test when I'm done straightening the spacebar again
There's like a tiny gap In the middle you can barely see
Do you guys find it alright with a plastic case?
I started with metal ones and recently got a cheaper plastic one that just feels awfull
Admittedly it is cheaper end so does explain it but it just doesn't have any weight whatsoever
My friend wants a wireless hot swappable keyboard with rgb (preferably TKL) I suggested keychron q1 but it barely over his budget if 150$
He is fine with 60% but he is avid user of function keys
I'm would be surprised if it did ... do you have some neoprene ? I once put it inside the space bar and it helped a bit with the sound specially on the up stroke
I’m looking for basically the same, I’m tempted to get the rk84, since it has a 2.4ghz receiver which is a must for me
No sadly I don't but it rattles a bit on the downstroke yoo
well filling it with some dampening material is about the only thing you haven't tried ... so might be worth the try
Hey, whats a good wireless or wired keybaord for 60-70 USD? (preferably wireless)
so after testing the akko sponge for some time I can say they are ok but they are really not my favorite switches at all ... the tactile bump is quite nice and the weight is good ... you don't really feel the second bump as another bump but kinda more like a prolongation of the main bump instead so it's a sharp bump that is prolonged opposed to a sharp bump that end quite abruptly to linearity in the akko lavender purple ... That made (I think that is one of the reason) the lavender purple feel smoother event tho I'm pretty sure they are not that much smoother in reality ... I ran into a strange issue with the sponge that I never faced with any other kind of switches I have ... the long stabilized key getting stuck down (as if the spring was not strong enought to push the switch back up), mainly the right shift, back space and enter and space bar to some extend ... I tried to re lube the stabs and/or reposition the keycap and it worked for most of the keys except the right shift ... I tried 2 other keycap right shift and it was the same thing ... in the end I changed the sponge switch under the right shift for a lavender purple and it solved the problem. All in all they are good for 1 U key and they feel ok, but they are still my least favorite switches in the akko tactile I've tried.
still my favorite switch from akko is the lavender purple ... for now ...
Which one ?
My brother has the RK84 and it's pretty nice for a budget 75%.
Packed with features, and modding the stock stabs will make it sound pretty decent, but the software is trash and the plate is plastic, I believe.
Not 100% sure on that.
But yeah. Main drawback is the trashy software.
Jelly modded, it sounds wonderful. A little like Korean Hagaromo Fulltouch chalk on a freshly cleaned chalkboard.
Which sounds pretentious, but it genuinely sounds like good chalk on a clean chalkboard now. Lubed TTC Reds.
oh hey
keeb gang gang
I let my TKL go since I didn't need two boards but I kinda miss it
I’m looking for a wireless mechanical tkl keyboard with a 2.4ghz receiver and hotswap. Thats literally the closest thing I’ve found. Its well under my budget but thats not really a good thing since the quality more than likely suffers alot. Would you happen to have any ideas for a keyboard that fits my criteria. My budget is 150€, but I can stretch towards 200€
i think Royal Kludge has those options, idk for TKL tho, but there is comptact 75 layout which is like a TKL
Yeah the rk84 seems to be the closest to my desires
do you guys know any good tkl keyboard for like 60$?
What’s a good linear keyboard for under $100
can anyone help me? im gonna buy the tecware phantom keyboard and want to change the switches on it
i know that it only supports 2 pin switches, but i want a switch that supports rgb lighting.
ive heard that the akko cs are great for it but does the lights pass through the switch or like how does it work
@ionic briar can u help me out?
ok
okoook

Oh my msg was deleted
That’s a joke name for that keyset lol
Its actual name is ‘analog dreams’ @fiery vale @potent void
You had us in the forst half…
@urban glade do you have a 959 Mini?
why ask why
@unkempt dome Thanks for sharing your test. I was tempted to get them. I'll check other switches instead .
yes you would be better to get something else indeed
Just saved me 50$ ;)
anybody know what are the best hot swappable keyboards?
No it hasn’t shipped yet
damb, you won doe
"best" based on what critera?
wait, GT? was that a special edition?
I'm sure if money is no object and you have the time, then a custom keycult build may do..
Otd soware probably
wow, I've never even heard of these caps
There was a geekhack run of soware colourway
But that uses icon mods which I dislike
fair enough
The original otd set has text + icon
what switches and plate?
Poly and vint browns
that's gonna be niiiiice
going to build the ginkgo65 with it using sakurios
I would like to do an Alps build with my Moontower at some point
I’m waiting on an skcl green board for a low price to try alps again
to harvest or just to use?
gotcha
to be honest I'm not super familiar with Alps stuff, someone told me to get Ambers I think
Opposite of me lol
what happens if i use linear lube on tactile switches?
ik but there is lube that better for linear switches and I was just wondering what would happen if I were to use it on tactile switches
for instance this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B096MHPHBM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3F01WZG5G4E5R&th=1
People generally use thinner lubes on tactiles to preserve the tactility
But if you apply a thin coat it’s fine
alright thank you
Yeah
alright
becuase
I just bought a keyboard thats non hot-swappable and I have a hot-swappable keyboard but it has tacticle switches and this one I just bought has linear switches. And I was wondering if I should lube the tactile switches to get a feel of what it would be like so then I can lube the linear keyboard.
I’d probably recommend lubing linears first
Also I don't know if amazon will accept a return if i lubed the keyboard and tried to return it
It can be difficult to get a thin coat without any practice
yeah I was going to do the pen lube method thing
where i just stick a small brush inside the switch and get the lube in ther
And there’s more room for mistakes with the linears as there isn’t a tactile bump you’re trying to preserve
Oh
I d wouldn’t recommend that especially for tactiles
I expect you’d struggle to get it consistent
yeah true but I don't know how to solder and apparently this method works fine if i can just pace myself and try to get it right
with the consistency
Desoldering isn’t hard
Yeah I watched videos on it and stuff but its a little expensive and time consuming
for me at least
desoldering can be a pain in the ass though
Expensive is relative but I get by more than fine with a ~$35 iron
the first time I did it it took me 10 minutes to desolder a single switch lmfao
to be honest you can pick up a Pinecil off of Amazon for cheap
The solder sucker is the tool which I think you shouldn’t cheap out on. The engineer ss02 is great
so Ive heard that a lot when people say "conserve the tactility" on tactile switches and was wondering what does that mean exactly?
is it like the small bump it has
You feel the tactile bump when you press it?
yeah
Yeah
When you lube, it makes that weaker
yeah so when I bought that keyboard I didnt know anything at all about keyboards i just like the RGB it had lol but now im starting to realize that I prefer linear switches
Even more reason to learn soldering and desoldering
true
To rebuild it with linears
yeah
so
this is the keyboard I have
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08T88Y23K?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details&th=1
COMPACT, WITHOUT COMPROMISE ROG Falchion is a 65% form-factor wireless mechanical keyboard designed to change the way you play. It has an interactive touch panel and innovative two-way cover case, and it’s the first ROG keyboard with wireless Aura Sync RGB lighting. The keys feature durable ROG p...
the new one i got
so I might just try the brush method where push down the switch and stick the brush in and evenly coat the switch
Good luck

What keycaps should go with black keyboard
Up to taste
Black on Black
or Cyrillic Sublegends
well, ive been screwed,
so i was trying to buy my first custom kb, and i found this kinda cool set called the tes68, now i want it as my main kb but when researching about boards i learned that the only connection (wireless) sucks ass and there is a lot of problems with it and sister boards(like the ciy tester68), so im tying to find another good one with no success
any board recommendations?
My keyboard's rgb light stopped working after I got a glass of water accidentally spilled on it, what do I do?
unplug it, take off the caps and inspect the water damage, if nothing has burned out or remnant liquid in the switches causing a short, you might be able rescue it with a through cleaning.
Should I turn in upside down and let dry for a day?
The keys still work, the lights though wont
yes, but inspect it first
Aight I'll go try that tysm
Im looking for a wireless mouse, I've used the mionix naos 7000 for years and its the comfiest mouse ive had, but it shit the bed on me so im in the market again. I want to go wireless but id like the keep the comfort and shape. Anyone got any suggestions?
g305?
Anyone here got good knowledge on building your own keyboards, like buying key switches, boards etc? I have a G910 orion spectrum and my next one i wanna build myself, I like big keyboards, any recommendations for an online store for parts?
Ive tried it, can stand the shape. I have wide hands
what do you wnat and whats your budget?
ai03 guide 🥰
ahegao board

not surprised to see ur an osu player
this is the type of mask i need for covid right??
lol
also... oooooo, there is a channel just for keyboards now... I am looking into getting a new one, my old mechanical has cherry reds and they are starting to drive me insane with the low actuation force and lack of anything tactile... only real thing I want is a darker color scheme and it cant be a 65%
budget & size?
Anyone have keyboard recommendations? i have a 250 USD budget (i would like to do DIY but the ones I would like are always being scalped)
Preferably linear
and silent
wdym by scalped?
Like the ones I would want are always sold out and being resold for higher
ah
for example?
NK65 lite
supposed to be 100 dollars
no
or nk65 entry, because those are relatively cheap
whats the quietest keyboard so i can stop driving my gf crazy
A membrane
On screen keyboard
hmmm
how about the ikki68?
Yooo how did u get the switch sockets so perfect
Send it over
I need the sockets
😳
what do you have now?
membrane? mechanical? what kind of switch?
take this with a big asterisk but sound usually goes
🔉 membrane -> silenced mechanical -> linear -> tactile -> clicky 🔊
also what is making the sound, the switches themselves or keyboard rattling on the desk?
Out my money to charity 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Akko ACR are great budget kits
The keyboard world needs a cheaper alternative to Signature Plastics.

It's already rough waiting years on a GMK kit or paying hundreds and hundreds for one on the aftermarket.
Jtk
Maxkey
Mt3
Epbt
Lots of alternatives
🤷♂️
And probably more, i haven't bothered to check
When the keycaps are worth more than the keyboard itself
Gk61 , rk68 or Ltc nimbleback?
People could be allergic to dinosaurs.. but we would never know
Nope
@chrome raft can u pls send ur pcb file
RK68
Teachers go to school for years just to go back to school
hello, does anyone know if there are other keyboards similar to Redragon K586 Brahma which have dedicated macro keys and hot swap capability but with switches that are 5 pin and have a more robust macro software options
its much more complicated than just changing the "print"
I know some stuff of kicad
why?
any major differences ver gk61 and ltc nimbleback outside of layout?
doesn't look like it
just typical hot swap Plastic keebs
im pretty sure the gk61 is optical while the ltc nimbleback is mechanical
GK61 is mechanical usually
unless you get prebuilts
the gk61 is a prebuilt right?
Ok thx man
oh
How did your first build sound?
gotdamn that sounds nice lol I just built my first keyboard 2 weeks ago and it was a cool exp. What switches did you use?
Sounds like muddy Legos
just bought the corsaie k65 rgb mini , 80€ instead of 130€ in amazon europe , hope i like it as a first expensive keyboard
Just pick up coiled cable from glorious. Shit looks amazing. Worth $60
i need to get one
Yea coiled cable looks good on keyboard
is it usb c?
Yessir
damnit i need to save up but there is so much cool shit
I'm about to spend a total of $20 on a knob
Any word when the Keychron C2 swapable will be back on stock?
You know what else is cool?
Checking out this Segway to today’s sponsor
I did
sorry about the late response, They're lubed Gateron Black Inks
although, it should be noted that the towel makes the noise a bit less sharp
is it a bad idea to remove the plate foam on the keychron q1
since its already pingy
but the board sounds slightly muted
so idk at this point
and without the tape mod it just sounds hollow
Thanks! oh yeah I didn't even notice the towel lol
If you think it sounds good sure
pretty
what are some good budget tactile switches
AKKO CS Jelly Blue
would it be a pain in the ass to lube because it looks like it has a box stem
Lavender Purple
someone in another server said ocean blues are those any good
Lavender Purple have longer springs
extension springs on them iirc
ocean blues are on sale for like $12 for a 45pc pack
that's the same price as Purples no?
They're both around that price range
anyone know if the cosmicbyte artemis is good?
any good cheap mechanical keyboard suggestions atleast
you can get pcb only
k thanks
oh
wdym by 'cheap'
like whats ur buget
oh idk i didn't look up the purples
I'd just choose either one
though my bias is towards purple ofc
yeah i'll have to continue to look into the purples, ocean blues and jelly blues
all akko switches
I prefer the lavender purple
The ocean blue have a progressive spring that makes them feel a bit weird to me ...
I asked this before but is upgrading from k70 to razer huntsman mini or RK61 worth it?
to razer no
to royal kludge ... other would have better knowledge than me about RK ...
so they will be able to tell you if it's worth it or not
But moving from a k70 is it a good/safe option
whats a good full size keyboard for a £50-60 price range?
razer huntsman mini vs corsair k65 mini ?
K65 mini is meant to be awful same with razer
Look into a GK61 hotswappable
I think this might be the same as an RK or GK
Its AU though
Any good keyboards for 70 USD?
Form factor? @coral gull

Okay I got the unicomp ultra classic
Having eargasm fingergasm everything at the same time
Miss my NKRO and antighosting.. not a deal breaker though
the black friday deals suck
guys what do you think of Redragon K551-RGB ?
IMO I think it’s pretty ugly but it does get ok ratings
the k551 is a budget entry level keyboard ... it's ok at the most ... you'll have a hard time to find a software for that rgb, last I know you can only find it on the redragon brazilian website and it's not working well ...
You probably can do something decent with it if you mod it ... like foam, change stabs and switches ... if it had the outemu hotswappable that is ... if not they are soldered and well you can't change them easily
also the outemu hotswappable socket are compatible with a small selection of switches ... amongst them are obviously other outemu switches, akko switches and boba ... don't know about other switches that fit in there
anyone. here using a split keyboard?
like this: https://www.zsa.io/moonlander
An open-source keyboard for serious developers, gamers, and people who care deeply about their craft.
I wanted a gaming brand one not this
Bought the corsair for the RGB
But razer will probably be better in the optical switches
Well Corsair and Razer a dogs arse
For now it's only the corsair that has the good deal
Razer offers good switches but Razer is not good in keyboards
In my situation that corsair cheaper then gk61
It is but k65s are known for being faulty and awful
Not cheaper but the same
Im looking at anne 2 pro rn
anne 2 is garbage
@boreal rivet is GK61 better
And RGB
likely
Id just not go corsair
I have one and i am happy with it but its k70
It was one of the best on the market at the time
But corsair is mediocre at 60%
How do you know anne 2 pro isnt good
I see
In what way exactly
As ill try it
And return
Build quality i believe
Already purchased
anne pro has shit software and shit build
Shit software is way i avoid those brands
how do you know though like most sources say its amazing
To buy from there link?
Could you put a link in mxid
And what would u say about corsair k65 minu
Only for gaming
As i use a low profile dell for office
KM7120W
Good keyboard offers everything in a compact way
how about the kemove snowfox?
kemove snowfox is decent
hey
Who needs build kits when you can build a scuffed handwired keyboard at home?
Built my TKL last night
bukkakey 😳
Yes
I have all of them 🙂
woah
Yeah you tried to sell it to me lol
oh lmao i completely forgot that
one of the hardest to sell caps i've ever had i think
i still need to get around to a handwire at some point
i have a controller for one, i just havent decided on the right board to do it

resinbrain can affect anyone, if you or a loved one is affected you can call 1-800-res-in
does anyone know if the anne 2 pro on banggood is legit
no idea but it's just an ok keyboard anyway
yep
tho i prefer the kemove snowfox/shadowfox over that
they are pretty much the same chassis so yea
nah too expensive
its cheaper than the anne pro 2 on banggood?
in fact its the only model left
What keyboard do you recommend? Looking for a new one but have no clue what to choose
the anne pro 2 lighting is really not that good ... the keycap lettering is meh at best and I had to desolder the space bar switch to fix the stabilizer that was not working well (and I've seen a lot of people that had to do that too) ...
and not it's not an effect of the camera ... it really looks like that
I'm starting to not dislike that much the cherry brown since I ghetto lubed them ...
it's kind of a surprise ... well the tactile bump is still underwhelming of course ... but at least they feel way less scratchy
is there a noticeable difference in sound between clear top boba u4ts and the regular topped u4ts?
asking because i'm doing a low profile build with rgb and i need a nice sounding rounded tactile i can use stock
100%
would something else be better then
like gk61
gk61 or the kemove offering or keychron offering
k i might go for that then
but apparently their similar to the rk and the rks latency is really high
I don't know much about latency in keyboard
input delay i believe
its like 1.8 on anne pro
and like 18 ms on rk
@unkempt dome
where did you get those numbers tho ...
rtings
$100 USD

I got overwhelmed by choosing a keyboard...
Can someone suggest one that costs max 110usd dollar
I am mainly gonna use it for gaming so
-RGB
-Wireless isnt something I need
-Numpad
-QWERTY layout
-Scandinavian alphabet
Can someone help me find the perfect one? Also it should not be super loud as I might stream and my room doesn´t have a door
the caps don't let much light through, change em and you'll be happier
Nah it's still a not worth it kind of board
True but it's good for what it costs
I paid mine 40$ cad and at that price it wasn't even a good deal for me
I'm replacing mine with a Wooting 60HE that I'm gonna mod a lot when it get's here Q2 next year
think your standards are too high for that price point
The snowfox is way better and the durgod fusion too even tho it has cherry brown
short?
Maybe a keychron keyboard?
Thoughts on Keychron K8 with Gateron Browns, Foam modded.
well never tried any of those so ...
only tried cherry brown and kailh brown in the "brown" switches ...
what switches do u daily?
depend on the day
what is your favourite switch you have used
now it's cherry brown cause I love the look of the durgod fusion ... before that was akko sponge and before that akko ocean blue
for now I think it's akko lavender purple ... I also liked halo true a lot ... and also kailh speed copper for the short throw and high actuation point but they are considered kinda bad by the community
as for clicky kailh box white and kailh box navy are really great clicky
I think I prefer the box white a bit more ... but the box navy along with some good SA keycaps sounds wonderful
so the short answer would probably be akko lavender purple are my favorites for now until I find another favorite
does anyone know if its possible to change key caps on the logitech G815
It's possible if you found compatible keycaps, but there aren't any official replacement parts and they don't use standard switches so you would have to find OEM replacement keycaps on eBay or Amazon.
ahh okay thanks
hey lads, i wanna get into keyboards more...gotta upgrade from this pictek pc244a (blue switches)
any recommendations? i wanna be budget friendly but also have something more premium
ping me if u suggest smtg plz ^^^
sorry to ask but do you know if its possible to get a wrist rest with the G815?
I don't think so, your best bet would be finding one 475mm in length to match the length of the G815.
Alright thanks alot🤙
I don't see anything wrong with that
hmm yeah i looked at those. not sure which to go for tho lol
not sure how much i value my F keys
We all do
I’m looking for a compact size keyboard 60-75% for gaming and programming my budget is 100-130ish usd . Do y’all have any recommendations
anything else you are looking for
Shoes?
Do you use special function for gaming and programming ... cause any keyboard will do for that
Like a 10$ rubber dome keyboard will do that
so any news on the K5 release date. Will it be next year or can we still hope to get it before xmas?
Yap. please be more specific. Also there are several good youtubers that do "productivity" reviews for keyboards and logitech 915 i belive was what they liked in the end. So maybe look into that keyboard if you dont need to fiddle too much and are ok with paying a brand premium. edit: also keychron has the c2 on amazon for sale. just base no lights, no replacable switches. I think that is a good deal and cheaper than logitech. edit 2: ok i read you need a smaller keyboard. then keychrone is good or maybe logitech TKL line.
it's only important if you need macro support ...
also there's macro pads that exist for that
anyone tried the keychron c1 yet? im looking at it on sale an it looks like a great deal
decent value for what it is.
is ti better than the gk61 tho?
eh
they are the same in terms of stock quality tbh
its just different form factor and size
yea
sigh. the bot ate my last comment i think.
I need a new keyboard because my logitech g810 is starting to double keystrokes. Any advice for a new modern keyboard?
My needs are: mechanical, of course. fullsize keyboard, but without supurfluous keys like media controlls. And the keys need to be backlit. I don't care about rgb or patterns, I just need each key to be backlit with what key it is so I can easily se my keys in the dark.
Anything new and exciting I should look at first?
check out if keychron have something for you
the K10 looks sweet. I think I'm gonna go with that
thanks for the tip on keychron. their keyboards really do look neat
Among these two, which would you say is better?
Logitech G610 Orion Red Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard delivers a pure gaming experience. Starting with a performance-driven design, the keyboard integrates powerful technology. Long-life Cherry MX switches are standard in gaming keyboard and are more consistent in feel and responsiveness tha...
would be used mainly for typing, casual gaming
It doesn't make a difference
Get the one that has the features you want
Or the switches that you like the most
But I can say that romer g have a really bad reputation and that there's close to zero compatible keycaps
No problem
You can also consider something better
Like better build quality and such
my budget is 60-70, if you have any suggestions?
this is what i could find on amazon that i'd consider getting
In that price range I don't think so
Royal kludge maybe
Keychron maybe
Epomaker maybe
keychron k10 looks cool, for 75 is a tiny bit over what im willing to spend
yeah I'm just about to hit the confirm button, but the shipping hurts. THhey ship DHL which is 20 flat to ohio. really expensive shipping
20% off coupon is nicce though. 83 bucks for aluminum rgb hot-swappable. the shipping is what makes it go to $103 for me 😦
I think I'm still gonna do it. that's a decent price for a quality board
yeah
surprised there are no reviews cause they look really high quality according to reddit
I think the k10 is new, and didn't have much of a PR push it seems
I think it dropped like last month after being teased for about a year on soccial media
damn
Anyone know some cheaper mech keyboards? (50usd below)
Looking to get my brother one for his work
any1 might knw why this happened?
i think an ant g0t in my kb and n0w a r0w 0f keys is br0ken
Find the pin on the mcu responsible for that column and reflow it
All are good
None, think for yourself
True
lol what kind of response is that
youtubers are for more than just getting an opinion from. they also demonstrate features and show us all aspects of a product that a store page may not cover
Eh their opinions are usually the same more or less
Their only use is for more detailed looks into a product's quirks and features ™️
...which is pretty important, lol
