75€ for 110
I don't know about euro
What about dollars?
I'm in canada
Canadian dollars, then
Would you recommend lubing them?
Well don't worry about anything else
If you think they need lubing when you try them
like, actually cheap? Hexgears GK705
around 60 bucks or so, fully hotswap, comes with kailh box red/brown/white
and is pretty easy to mod the crap out of
Thx
Makes sense
Thx
Why do Boba U4Ts have a packaging that results in some pins being bent
The one of Akko switches is way better
Despite being WAY cheaper
@pallid trout btw does the Swiftpoint Z have a button to unlock the scroll wheel?
Not sure 😦
Why do they just throw them into a plastic bag
Easier and cheaper.
Imagine how they would cost if they were packed in the premium way the akko are packed
What do we think of the Asus Claymore 2?
Is the build quality of the Akkos that much lower?
And should you use lube or grease for stabs?
And what causes stabiliser rattle in the first place?
most of the time its unbalanced wire
when one side of the wire is higher than the other, making that side have to move extra distance before the other side move, which creates ticking
then theres the stuff like keycap warping, wire touching the stab's stem hole in a way that introduce ticking and rattling
But not rattling?
whoops, forgot to type in rattling too
Does lubing eliminate the rattling in these cases too?
the other creates ticking only i must add
Ah
And you can balance that out somehow?
yep
physically bending the wire
when it lays flat against a flat surface, thats when its balanced
Nice
Because people always say that you should lube them
i must add that you can only balance 1 side of the wire
lube is more to alleviate ticking
holee mod kinda creates a buffer so that it tightens your stab's stem hole if its too big
also acts as a sort of crumple zone so that the wire doesnt crash into the upper side of the hole and create unwanted noise

not a problem
theres 2 mod that uses the same ingridient
the first one which involves sticking band aid on the plate is for preventing plate mount stab housing to move around, therefore reducing unwanted noise
the second one which the band aid is on the pcb instead of the plate has an effect of dampened the bottom out feel of your stabs. Whether or not its a good or a bad thing, its up to you
theres an argument that the 2nd mod helps protecting the pcb
but i dont think so myself ngl
since the pcb dies arent that easy to scratch most of the time
The clipping mod is also for dampening the interaction with the PCB?
nope, its the opposite, it enhance the feel of the stab's stem hitting the pcb
/cutting it out entirely
Ah
Does that damage it, tho?
with the claws on, you might find your long keys to feel mushy when bottom out
So it’s basically the opposite of the second band aid mod?
I haven't tried the boba ... i can say that the akko I have are on par with the khail and halo true... if not even better ... they also barely have stem wobble ... so no build quality is not low tier at all ...
the clipping mod is the opposite of the pcb band aid mod
where you remove the dampening factor to make the bottom out feels more solid
in this case, the claws
The price is so much higher on the bobas, tho
@ionic briar many thanks for the info! Stab mods appear to be much more complex than I thought
yea
if anything i have learnt along the way, is that you should keep some sort of personal opinions
i have seen too many times the community championing the new hottest thing, but then bashes it after the issues crop up
Price doesn't indicate quality
But it has to be justified somehow, right?
I wonder what the justification ist tho
Lol
Not necessarily... do you think apple product have a justification for being that expensive ... I don't think so ...
Meh I actually do
it's not cause it's more expensive than it's better
Well I don't...
Many people think that those are the best tactile switches tho
Just like cherry switches
That doesn't justify the price tho ... cause some can think they are bad
But there’s gotta be a reason why so many people like it
Is there a reason for people liking cherry switches
Specially browns
But they are well known to be quite meh by a lot of people too
Not the bobas
Afaik
Cause not a lot of people tried them compared to other switches
That applies to any expensive switch tho
Not really ... cherry are quite expensive compared to some others
Still a lot of people tried them cause they are everywhere ... still doesn't mean they are good either ...
Hm
All in all there's no link between price and quality
@ionic briar still a bit worried about that
i have been using mine clipped for i guess 2 years? (3 years but the first year i didnt use it much)
and the pcb doesnt have a scratch
Ah, glad to hear that, thanks for the info!
is the rk61 a good budget keyboard ?
Does the PE foam mod not affect the stabilised keys? Many people have giant cutouts around those
And couldn’t the PE foam mod damage your PCB through static discharge?
Only if you move around your keyboard a lot
The insides of it?
In general. But if your foam is squeezed tightly enough it shouldn't move around a lot.
Also, it’s not like it makes any new contacts in order to discharge, right?
Anyone know of keyboards better/similar to keychron q1 preferably at better price and also keep the function row
gmmk pro
the keychron Q1 has the function row tho
im looking for a red switch gaming keyboard any suggest?
anything with outemu reds like Tecware Phantom are really good for people on a budget
Outemu > Cherry
I know I’m looking for cheaper
similar in which way ... layout or gasked mount ?
So you think that masking tape on the underside of the plate could make as big of a difference as plate foam does?
I have a Corsair rbg mechanical keyboard that's getting dusty and hairy (cat) and besides taking a dry brush and giving it a few passes, how best to clean it?
taking the keys off so I can clean the sounds would be good
Hm the Boba U4Ts have a different sound with a clear top
Do you really need a clear top for good RGB?
If I’m not gonna use pudding caps
I just want the legend to be lit
take all the keys off and wash them
wipe down the keyboard
scrub away and gunk you see with a wipe or something
Some basic things i do to get it cleaned up
Is it too difficult to get them out and back in? looking it up, it doesn't seem to be. Just need a small flathead and gentle hands
what? no you dont need a screwdriver
just get a keycap remover or pull them out
or were you referring to the switches?
no the actual buttons themselves
yeah the keycaps. My bad
its alright
no the keycaps arent hard to remove you can just pull them out
most are gonna be easy like that
mmm, mine's attached pretty good. Might have to get that remover
they're only like $5 anyways
this one is nice
you have this one?
i do
How long have you had it? Seen some comments it isn't that durable
ive had it for almost the whole year. it broke on me but it was my fault
thx
np
Gonna build a keyboard out of the GMMK full size kit, Boba U4Ts, Corsair double shot keycaps and Everglide panda stabilisers, does that sound reasonable?
Probably gonna clip, holee mod and lube the stabs
Don’t know if I’m gonna mod anything else
Maybe PE foam, maybe tape on the back of the plate (!) instead of foam
Oh wait everglide pandas are for ANSI only ☹️
Oh wait, apparently you don’t need anything else for ISO, nevermind
The U4Ts with clear tops
I wonder how much the clear tops makes them sound worse
If at all
if the slot is big enough it might let pass enough light through it ...
personally I don't need rgb ... it's always off
be sure that those corsair keycaps have a standard bottom row and not the usual non standard corsair bottom row ...
check the price for durock V2 stabs ... they are usually the go to
you can look for sound test on youtube if there's any and try to spot the difference between the housings ... also I thought you were a linear guy and not much of a tactile guy ...
A customer of mine built his macropad, I love it! Turned out awesome with the OLED.
Nice custom work ...
thanks
Noice
Oh I’m building this for both my brother and myself
And thanks for the warning!
It says „standard layout bottom row“, phew
I will! It’s just that one guy on YouTube wo does really good mods seems to use the pandas, so they probably aren’t bad either
Oh and the board doesn’t support screw in stabilisers
Holly panda are overrated or so I've heard
there's durock plate mounted stabs too
Look for them
Me too
Thx for the info
Or so I think ... maybe I got something else ... damn I don't remember
I’ve just noticed that the PE mod doesn’t make a whole lot of sense on an RGB board
are holy pandas too overrated, ive been considering buying them for a build and everywhere i go most people are titling them the best switches, i just wanna know the cons of them
Way too expensive for what they are now ... there's probably better switches for the same or lower price ...
there's holly panda in switch tester ?
you can prolly buy 1 switch and replace them
My guess would be they are soldered in
this looks satusfying
it does tho
what’s y’all’s opinion and what switches do y’all recommend?
I like silent reds
I got the GX browns ;-;
Don't they have Varmillos there? Get one of those instead
Omron (20m)
Omron (50m)
why does one have extended life
Im trying to get a good double or triple clicking switch for my Model O wireless
thats marketing
physical built wise they are all the same
same contact point thickness, same coating
same construction
if you get the japanese omron tho, those are built different
;-; then how does one last an tested 30 million clicks longer
japanese omrons are 10m
cause in their test condition, one smh can last longer
the testing conditions are a controlled variable though?
yea, but its not irl condition
irl use, those switches are being fed way too low current ( not even clear the wetting current specification)
which leads to faster oxidation on the contact points
contributes to premature double clicking
alongside thin contact points that once wears out, makes inconsistent contact with other
This is an extremely detailed report on all the technical variables that are relevant to the plague of prematurely 'failing' OMRON switches on modern PC mice that more and more users have experienced lately, like the popular Logitech gaming mice (and other manufacturers too): this is NOT an attack on brands and manufacturers, but I have to talk ...
yes I know that the testing conditions are tested as best as possible, however I have my logitech G502 and my Model O wireless, 502 has (50m)s and Model O has (20m)s, the 20ms definitely feel more tactile than the 50ms.

What about the Kailh GM 8.0s
noticeably beefier in terms of contact thickness
but voltage specification is still not correct for how low the voltage are
wdym voltage specification?
so you cant just rip switches out of a mouse and put different ones in???
you can
but you are putting the switch to work with unoptimal voltage and current
which cause oxidation on the contact point to happen faster
which leads to premature double clicking
i recommending you binging through the first vid i sent for an in depth analysis

started from here
Ive also heard that the Kailh 8.0s have a double click prevention thing with the contacts.
the tldr is that modern mices provides those chinese omrons with out of spec voltage and current condition that leads to faster oxidation and double clicking
about the switch design themselves, the contact points are thin which wears out faster, not coated with the proper metal to prevent oxidation, and the shape of the contact point encourage double clicking when the switch wears out.
mostly in the term of gold plated contact points iirc
and beefier contact points
even wear i guess?
on the pic or on the video?
the pic of the 8.0s
my guess would be even wear
the best microswitches you should buy is the japanese omron, cause those are designed with a lower operating current and voltage. tho they still dont fall in the range of the provided voltage and current from the mouse micro controller, it still helps with a slower oxidation rate
the switches themselves has very beefy contact points and they are also gold plated, which helps with slower oxidation
now im seeing why optical switches are generally lasting longer, because you could just use a leaf spring and there are literally no contact points.
yep
leds have way better lifespan than those shitty contact points
and they dont give a fuck about what current you are providing them
that said, the japanese omron, again is a legit choice for you

alright
look at that thicc contact
but question You cant just shove them into your mouse though can you, since they are optical, you would need different programing?
shove the optical ones onto a mouse that uses contact based switches like the omrons?
yea you cant
have to redesigned the pcb to accommodate all the extra hardware (the led, the photoresistor)
which is legit impossible
kinda, unless the mouse manufactor release their schematic
lmao, they only released the dimensions for the mouse
and then you can technically make a new pcb but with optical sensing
but yea, impossible without redesigning
but dont the pcb have multiple layers with tiny wires running through it, so you would need like a .1mm soldering head and a decent solder sucker
well the contact pads where you put the solder is pretty resistant
you will need a soldering iron and a solder sucker yea, but removing the old switch should be easy
unless you smh cooked the pads and ripped it out
I'm talking about redesigning the pcb
kicad
you dont have to physically do it
and good luck bet you wont make it very far
your most economic bet is to source japanese omrons
or stuff like honeywell microswitches, kailhs, what not
anything that has beefier contact points, lower wetting currents, or both
yeah probably but would that be better than the 20m omrons that I currently have???
i would say that its gonna be better from a reliability point of view
the weighting on the japanese omron are also lighter, that could be a desirable trait
no one really cares about how reliable they are, most people swap for a different feel
Yea.
I prioritize reliability so...
Yeah, I have my debounce time set at 0ms so it can double click...
should i go for cherry or gateron
How can I make the spacebar on my keychron q1 sound higher pitched like the tofu 60 in this video (39 seconds in)
My keyboard has the
-force break mod
-4 layers of tape mod(it needs it or it sounds unbelievably hollow)
-polyfill
-abs keycaps and gateron reds lubed

Want to suggest ...
Hm, would it maybe be a good idea to manufacture per switch PE foam modules?
Maybe not even out of PE foam
Oh wait, that already exists, whoops
But these apparently don’t have the same sound
Prob because the gap between each piece of foam
Isn’t the tape mod something you need to repeat?
Because of the adhesive going bad
How much did the force break mod do?
Has anyone here got a GMMK full size?
I did and wasn't that good
Why?
It's just like meh
And do you need dielectric grease for stabs or does 205g0 suffice?
Why? Did you mod it?
To be ok?
yeah like to not suck
And why isn’t it good after that?
What does it not have to be good?
And how did you mod it?
people don't like gmmk because it sounds hollow
The pro or the normal one?
The case or the plate?
Because the plate is out of aluminium
I might put O-Rings onto the standoffs of the lower plate, that might kill any case noise
But I’ll have to see for myself first
uh ok, you do you
Is there any full size alternative to it?
Keychron
Is that one better?
only fullsize prebuilts you should by are leopold PDs and realforces
I don’t need it to be prebuilt
You mean there’s no market for full size customs?
I think that is pretty obvious yes, with the community being comprised of millenials and zoomers who want to be "minimal"
I see thx
But I mean you can mod any case to sound good, right?
I really want to try the o rings
Doesn't Akko make like the 3098B series
idk I don't care about how something sounds
and the 5108B
the fact that sound is even considered a deciding factor in customs nowadays is just ridiculous to me
I mean like as long as the stabs aren't rattling that's good enough for me
agreed
@gilded gyro
I can't hear myself type through my earphones anyways
EXACTLY
And
It's a 60$ keeb that costs like above 100$
And
You can literally get an akko 5108B for that price
80€ barebones
yeah and the 5108B has switches included
like who thinks to themselves, yes I will buy this keyboard because it is thocky and I will listen to it while doing my work
and keycaps
Hey, didn’t see that one yet, thanks for the info!
Like I had a Tecware Phantom I bought for 60$
like that's how much it actually costs
because like it's just aluminum plate plastic case china OEM keeb
their are better uses for the money
But what’s the alternative for a full size one?
akko 5108B
Can’t really find offers for that one in Germany
Sry it did only show the smaller version first
Otherwise it might break?
no so it doesn't take like 3 months to get to you
That board has got a lot of printing on it
https://en.akkogear.com/product/cinnamoroll-5108b-mechanical-keyboard/
they also have official website that ships outside USA iirc
Might not be to my brothers taste
Also it’s 150€ in Germany
And I would put Boba U4Ts in there
And get Corsair double shot PBT RGB keycaps
why corsair keycaps?
Shine through for the legends
there are other sets that do that?
Which ones?
Just search PBT keycaps
Also i doubt that you can get those in ISO
They all seem to be either pudding or razer
What’s wrong with the Corsair keycaps tho?
They're low quality? But they're like 20$ so I guess they're good enough
The font also just looks bad
gamer font
Why are they low quality?
That’s up to taste
thin PBT?
How much would be thick PBT?
And what are the alternatives here?
/how thick
I'm pretty sure they sell on amazon too
Are they really that much better?
yes
They are actually thinner
1,2mm vs 1,5mm
Do you know the other ones?
Where are you getting the info from?
Is 1,5mm thin to you?
They’re 30€
Uhh i just wonder, is it possible for me to post a keyboard sound in here and let people talk about the sound if it's good or bad? I feel like this is offtopic but at the same time this is a keyboard channel?
If you like it it’s good
i have used this membrane keyboard for 6 years 😂
Filco
That one hasn’t got an aluminium plate, only hotswap for outemu switches and is smaller
That's the regular phantom, they make an Elite
Which is actually a 1:1 GMMK
you can literally use the same software on it
also I'm quite sure the phantom regular still has an aluminum plate
yeah it still does
Show me
Didn’t see it anywhere
Can’t find a listing for that anywhere
Which one?
Which software
You just said that it had such a better value
Yeah when I bought it in my country?
I mean at this point just get a full size Apex Pro
if you're like really attached to the GMMK
Just found a listing, it’s 100€
I just want a good full size keyboard kit which doesn’t break the bank
Edited
@fickle belfry I used felt under pcb and it sounds good :D
It's just many layers I think
Wanna hear a sound test?
It helped with the pinging a lot
Yep ! Why not. Do you have the before and after sound test ?
Yes
First is moded but without felt
And second is with felt
And this is unlubed without any mods
How did you mount it?
Nice
Is it really pinging or just reverb?
I just unscrewed the pcb..cut the felt and then placed it under the pcb
You can definitely hear the difference from the last sound test
Yup
The space sounds bad tbh
So at the bottom of the case?
Yup
Thx
Np
Could try to put an other layer under the space bar.
I think it's just rattle
Maybe I'll apply the holee mode
But not now
Maybe when I will buy Durock v2 stabs
You still have the oem plastic keycaps ?
Try a thicker spacebar keycap. It will sound better
I'm getting the same later:)
How thick?
The keycaps?
I like the non silent version of these
Yeah
Idk
About 3mm
I have the stock double shot abs from gk61
That’s super thick actually
Silent is the name of the kit.
These look good took
1.3 sorry
It’s just that my keyboard (Akko 3084) came in silent and normal variant
Ah
I got the regular 9009 retro
He is talking abt keycaps
Me too
They where referring to the switches (silent)
Keycap kit
👍
That’s their silent color scheme
I like this one
Lol
Akko Macaw 157-Key Cherry Profile Double-Shot PBT Keycap Set for Mechanical Keyboards with Collection Box https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08ZYHDRST/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_EE8KF2PEGMHZE06MJQEZ
Came with my Akko 3084
This one looks good too
Yeah, all up to taste, tho, ofc
They look good but I don't like blue in my setup
:))
The spacebar of this set has got an audible resonance, tho
BTW ABS keycaps tend to sound deeper than pbt keycaps, apparently
Ordered my custom deskmat with a variety of colors so I'm not stuck with 1 color theme.
You can put akko and boba
3 Pin hotswap?
Cut the 2 plastic pins
So it’s 3 pin hotswap?
Which one ?
I said to out akko switches in there or boba
Doesn't matter if it's 3 pins or 5 pins compatible just cut the 2 pins on the 5 pins switches
Gmmk is 3 pins compatible and you'll have to do it anyway if you get boba for it
I just wanted to know if it had full 3 pin compatibility at all
Bobas are 3 pin, tho
Oh wait
Oh no
Thanks for the info, didn’t notice the plastic pins
Why are Pandas overrated?
I really don't want to clip the plastic legs of those bobas
Why are there literally no 5 pin hot swap full size kits
Anyone out here have opinions on the sick 68 keyboard?
Seems budget friendly but not sure how "good" it would be compared to a commercial product in the sub $100 range
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3478494
Was absolutely stunned by @Druz320 Canoe inspired SMOLBOAT case. I had to have it...but it was for ortho keyboards, too large to print, and I wanted to use my teensy mount as well as other things I learned from my previous keyboards. Thus, the SiCK-68 was born.
The SiCK-68 is a custom mechanical keyboard built from scratch without the price tag...
Hey guys, need some help. Right now, deciding between the iquinix f96 and the rk100. I'm looking for a wireless, mechanical keyboard with a usb receiver (for lower latency for gaming) and has a numpad as I work with excel a fair bit. Any preferences between the two or is there an even better one I don't know about
I got the keychron k4v2 but while the layout is nice, not having a usb receiver is a dealbreaker and I've been having issues with bluetooth
its all preference
you can mod any keyboard and if you like it stock then just keep it that way
Best keyboard of 2021? If price isn't in the equation?
there's no such things as best keyboard
Cool
Alright the keycaps for my G513 are like melting almost, but not like the plastic but the the black layer is melting to reveal a clear key. Does anyone know what is causing this and what can prevent it. Also any keycaps I should get for my keyboard to replace them
can i have a look of what the keycaps looks like?
mine or just the model of them
so you wanna see the damage
yep
alr
Yeah sure
Well just not more than 200 if it can be avoided
that looks like the dye material got flaked off
since this is laser ablated keycaps
Keyboard recommendations? preferably hotswap and can use multiple kinds of keys
wdym by multiple kinds of key?
like compatible with different switches or?
Yes
Rn i have a g213 prodigy which I have had for 3 years, and has served me well, but I need a new keyboard badly, cant handle the current switches at all, too mushy and clacky at the same time
okay then, whats your budget and whats your preferred layout? (full size, tkl, 60%, etc)
check keychron k10 if available, or epomaker gk108s. those are full size, wireless capable, hot-swap mkb
for wired only, keychron c2 or epomaker gk108
Any1 knows an diy kit to buy to build a keeb urself? Idc abt price
or there are some pretty good prebuilts
also
heres a very good tutorial on switches

Using Kailh Box White right this second tbh
watch someone like switch and click or glarses for tutorials
Yh i know. Was just wondering where i could get them and if they were in an set. Thanks a lot tho!
Everglide SK108 vs Epomaker GK108S?
Look pretty similar, pretty similar price too
The stabs of the SK come prelubed apparently
But don’t know what further differences they got
Ultimately they all comes from the same factory
So yea, no major difference
You mean that the quality should be roughly the same?
can someone help out of this screen?
do you live in china ?
Yea
u cant search without signing in unfortunately
u can make a acc pretty easily
Ok
how?
i can read chinese and translate is pretty bad
Umm
Im not too sure cos i made mine ages ago
But i made it while living in aus without any vpn or anything
do you have to give your phone number?
Given how most Chinese tech platforms like WeChat etc work, probably?
Thx
How do the sound dampening characteristics of cotton compare to the ones of PORON?
hmmm new corsair keyboards https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/qqbnk7/hi_im_a_new_product_manager_at_corsair_today_i/
11,688 votes and 1,545 comments so far on Reddit
Oh dear god please no
the pink one looks nice
well kinda
Wtf I can't see the first picture
My gf's keyboard is currently having a few issues, and I have no clue how to help, the first is that her w is giving her up arrow input, and her arrow keys are giving w for up, and numbers for down, left, and right
Any ideas?
hey i'm looking for some black, minimalist, doubleshot pbt keycaps, i'm building it for my dad for christmas so i need it to be shipped on the faster side
???
impossible, you either get scuffed legends or a whole extra keyboard
I have a MSI GF63 thin AX laptop. and im looking to replace they keys. I have searched all over and cant find any. anyone know where to look ?
you are missing two 5.1k resistors connected from CC1 to GND and CC2 to GND to make USB C uses USB 2.0
How bad do shine through keycaps look with south facing switches?
You are the best
Outemu browns better
I tried them they suck
You won't like cherry mx browns then lol
recent outemu browns are better than cherry mx browns
They are way more scratchy than browns
Not recent batches
Recent are like the same if not more smooth
Or like you can just get a Gateron brown keyboard if you're worried about scratchiness? @solemn jungle
Ok
People say that the Epomaker GK108S has a much worse quality in comparison to the Everglide SK108, is that true?
Is Akko an overall good brand for keyboards?
Akko ACR very nice yes
for the price very nice
I still prefer cherry mx blues
good for you
g f y
what are cherry mx blues
why is cursed?
asking to anyone who uses custom keyboard with 3-mode connection or smth, how long does the battery last for a full charge and do i need to flash the firmware of the keyboard?
still first time going into custom keyboard rabbit hole
Clicky switches
atleast its better than generic tactile switches
anything wrong with using 6 different switches on a keeb
i don't think theres a downside, but thats just what i said
cuz 6 diff mx cherry switches will be intersting
What microswitch for mice is the most snappy, consistent, low actuation pressure, good for double clicking, little post travel/pretravel, and long lasting switch.
Anyone able to help me with a weird issue? My Corsair k70 does not turn on until my OS is loading. Which is a problem, because I can’t get into my BIOS, and it makes dual booting a huge hassle. I have to plug in another keyboard (wife’s K55) just to get into bios or to pick an OS on my boot menu.
Have tried multiple USB ports, have tried BIOS mode on the keyboard.. next thing I’m going to do is look for a firmware upgrade..
I’ve had this keyboard for a long time. Like 3 or 4 years I think? Never had this problem until probably the last year or so. It was happening on my old motherboard as well as the one I have now… I wondered whether it was a USB power thing but there’s lights on the keyboard right from boot so I know it has power… it just doesn’t finish turning on until I’m past the boot loader…
That's a though one there
Yea…
use bios switch
lol
10 seconds googling
Imagine googling, trying what it said, and it not working. Then coming to a community with 1000's of people who may have encountered the same issue.
only to be told, you can google it.
its a useful skill everyone should learn
Indeed. Knowing how to use google is integral. but when it fails, or if you're not sure what to search, it doesn't really get you the answer you're looking for 😅
Sigh. Ok, new topic then... If i'm going to replace this keyboard, what would be some good candidates? preferrably best for typing speed.
yeah kind of why "just look it up" isnt always the best choice
umm
depends on what kinda switches u like?
do u like tactile linear or clickys?
LF 80% keyboard wireless , 100$-150$ budget
I’ve heard that chiclet style keyboards were good for fast typing haha
it depends
i cant really type with chiclet as fast as with other 4mm travel distance keeb
the shallow distance travel just throws me off
pretty sure i can be efficient just by using it a lot
Does anyone know if the Logitech unifying receiver works with GPW?
pretty sure they dont work with each other
if thats the case, there will be a unifying logo on the underside of the mouse as well
is it worth changing out the stabilizers on my keychron q1 ive tried holee modding them and the spacebar still rattles
have you tried wire balancing them?
not yet
will that do a lot?
because taking apart the keyboard takes a good chunk of time
imo yes
idk if this is how it works but i can send you the sound
also my spacebar is slightly warped
that could contribute to the rattly sound too
so idk if that affects it much
is there a way to fix it without changing all of them out
wont thatdestroy the abs
is there a good tutorial you know of?
yes
ok thanks ill let you know if it works tomorrow lmao
also do you know what type of hotswap socket the keychron q1 uses
gateron branded kailh styled socket
thanks
Does anyone know if Akko ACR comes with Foam and gasket preinstalled?
Are the kbdfans keycaps any good?
servicable
I don't know why I thought hand wiring a keyboard would be anything else besides painfully slow. But so far so good
(I know I suck at soldering dont judge)
ive tried holee mod and wire balancing and the stabilizer still sounds rattly is there any other mod i can do or should i just get new ones
could try buying new spacebar?
you did mentioned that your spacebar is slightly warped
where could i get a new spacebar?
^
i tried wire balancing but it didnt do anything even though the wire was bent
i also tried putting the spacebar in 190 degrees water and pressing it down on a flat surface and it didnt do anything
you might need to bend it
in my case, pressing against a flat surface is not enough since the warp is also very slightly
I did try that and it still didn't work
I have a 3d printer and I'll try putting it on the bed at 90 degrees c
hmmm
might need hotter temps
And put a laptop on it or something
yea
Or I could just tape it down
weigh it down
till its completely cool
I'll let you know the results after on hour on the printer
Thanks for the help bro
This is so funny lmao
It's making contact though
so it just the case of not enough heat it seems?
Yeah I think so
Anyone know of a mechanical 60% that has a numpad function within the letters, need for work
Something like the way the numbers are mapped here
U can probs map that onto any keyboard that's qmk compatible
That’s like via right, was checking it out, not sure I would be able to build one seems a bit beyond me tbh
qmk is much more simple
yeah that's easy to do with qmk on any qmk compatible keyboard
Can't wait for the Q2 ... also keychron will be releasing/have already released mouse ... might get one too
Durgod Venus or kemove shadow?
Shadow
Shadow ... totally
so which one
Loll the ... sounded degrading on my end idk why
Not at all ... you should totally get the kemove shadow ... it's a great keyboard
got it
oh hey @unkempt dome ive clipped and baindaded my stabs and my shadow is even better now
i have one of the best sounding kemove shadows now
Yes mods do wonders
yes
imm send a vid of my friends 24 dollar keeb

stock gat reds
wait thats just stab test
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/876145380142759986/908412527623438376/IMG_1300.mov not the best at typing but here
How high is the key rollover of the Epomaker GK108? Can’t find info about that anywhere
I like the sound ... I always thought that linear sounded better than tactile ... it's sad I don't like them much
for the feeling I'm totally tactile ... for the sound I prefer linear ...
same!
Im thinking about getting the Logitech PRO keyboard (wired) is it hotswappable???
no ... as far as I know there's not logitech keyboard that are hotswappable ... but I could be wrong there cause I haven't checked the logitech board in a long while ...
I do know that the Logitech PRO X wireless Mechanical keyboard is hotswappable, so whats keeping the wired one from being hotswappable.
no idea ... maybe it is then if the wireless is hotswappable ...
others can confirm that ...
when you have yours eyes on a crazy new keycap set, but they're not blacklight compatible 😦
doesn't matter for me ... I don't use light on my keyboard ... yeah no restriction on that part
still sucks
what board do you use?
'cause that's the other half of it, what cheapo board should I get if I want a TKL, don't care about lighting, and by extension QMK or whatever
ewww, 60%
60% are great
you have arrow key on 60 %
hit me with one
you have all the key on 60%
wat
you just need to know how to use layers
lol, if the fn key works
why wouldn't it work tho
the main problem with layers
so if I need to use an arrow key as part of a larger command
like one of the ones I use alll the tiem
is Ctrl+b+right arrow
or you can program a macro for that if you want too if the keyboard supports it ...
like fn2 + any key you program the sequence
and that's if the keyboard even recognizes it, which i've had no luck with
because how does the keyboard know you need fn applied to the ? or < or whatever the key is
and not Ctr
or B
that's never made sense to me, does it just try all of them?
there's some board that if you just tap the key it will register the arrow
that's kinda sick
the anne pro 2 does that well
where can I buy the MJ63?
you just have to not map second function to those keys
well some are more limited, some are more flexible ... some you can just use them as huge macro pads if you want to ...
kinda what makes QMK support so valuable
hopefully Rubbish shoes back up with more info on the MJ63, looks dope
how good are the stock keychron q1 stabs
oh shit they're making their own switches now?
yes
those look intersting
i wonder if they'll be any good though
rakk is usually fine but their products always die quick for me for some reaosn
once i get my 3d printer ill make my own switch
i see youre switching to your own
You can’t really buy the Alphagrips iGrip anymore, right?
Vibinz red switches
The smoothest and thocciest
wut
jfc
they want 60$ just for the PCB?
any idea what case would work for the MJ63?
ngl, it being Bluetooth is nice
Looks pretty neat
almost not notice the 9
Well i cant unsee it now
you're welcome
do you know where i can find 1u keycaps for the spaces in red?, i need some color options outside of black/white
@violet geyser cuxiu on aliexpress, though what country you're in?
anyone have recommendations for a linear silent keyboard that can be used for gaming, but also for streaming? doesnt really need to be those silent switches just not loud and like a bit quiet? can be a custom keyboard or a prebuilt
Just get some random Gateron Red keyboard and some O-Rings
True
Can you send me a link for o-rings for a 60%?
https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Mechanical-Keyboard-Dampener-compatible/dp/B00K73IE1C/ref=sr_1_3
@subtle grotto
Then like just pair with a pulsar or keychron red switch keyboard
like with Gaterons or something
Since they're still better than Cherry
kemove shadow
I mean it's 90$
bc the shadow is one of the best moddable 60%
For my first custom keyboard should I build it from scratch or buy a prebuilt keyboard and upgrade it?
buy a realforce
get a tm680 and build it and change ur pfp
Hmm
Okie.
good advice right here
hey guys my keyboard sounds great rn but my spacebar sounds like it has no life
is there any way to make just the spacebar higher/lower pitched?
i have 5 layers of tape mod on the board and cutting out the part under the spacebar did help a bit but not much
O rings😔
The custom keyboard has stared
What
They are bad lol
You pay money for slightly less sound and the switches feel so bad with these
They still feel better than silent linears
but they suck less than silent linears
Bad opinion
??
You already said it lmao
yeah ik
anyone know a good silent keyboard tkl under 100€
Switch type?
I homestly dk anything about keyboards
One for gaming tho
Shooter games if that helps
Homestly you should research about keyboard little bit
Too many stuff to learn
Rgb would be nice tbh but not needed
Idk a lot about prebuilts but I've heard the Corsair k70 is good
its not
had one break within a year double registering the w key
amongst other issues
Only worthwhile prebuilts are leopold, realforce, hhkb, filco and the metal ikbcs
daskeyboard
Das is shit
Im lost
Shit build and overpriced
The same can be said about the Tecware Phantom but those cost 40$ @dim obsidian and are basically the same keyboard, they just don't have the scroll wheel thing
Hell new Tecwares come with the newer batches of Outemus
which are like a bit better than Cherry now
Outemu has always been as good or better than cherry
Nah I had one in like 2018 it was bad
compared to a japanese office keyboard with old cherrys the Outemus were deffo more scratchy
what scroll wheel thing?
I had some in 2016 and I didn't think it was worse than cherry
i guess i have a different one
The volume wheel
Wait then why did you get a Das? @dim obsidian
Ever heard of wear lul
Do mechanic keyboards make more noise than a normal one
lul
its a 4c not the new garbage
And there's a chance that those were vints
They definitely were
bought it for 12$ then it died ;_;
should have been more specific i guess
I mean it's just a metal plate Cherry MX keyboard @dim obsidian
You can get them better built by like other brands
They still suck, is the board hotswap?
Sometimes
Like clicky box jades make the people who work with u wanna jump off a cliff, but something like lavenders, silent switches are pretty quiet
Ooh
Very nice colors
What are the switches in that kb?
Glorios kekw
Glorios LMAO
Rip my homie alex
I mean their products are good it's just that their QC is terrible
I haven’t talked to him or Ragan in a while
Like I have never known someone not have a problem with a Glorios mouse
Fr
I mean tbh for 60$ you can get the XM1R
But yeah it was a gift, since my gb mouse became discolored and squeaked 2 weeks in of use
I got 100 usd credit
Yeah it is
I mean have you ever tried the Model-D?
Well yeah I bought it for someone and it felt sort of like a Deathadder
Have you ever tried the EC2?
oh then if you liked the Model-D then you'll like the EC2-C or EC1-C @rustic ridge
neither? what country are you in those are both terrible keyboards
Actually are they 20$?
Is it true that shine through PBT keycaps sound bad?
stop worrying about sound before you've even gotten the keyfeel you want
Alright thx
tbh as long as it's not rattly it's ok @boreal rivet you won't hear your keyboard over your headphones
like just lube stabs
I often don’t use headphones while using the keyboard
is trackpoint part of a keyboard lol
I've been looking for something pleasant that does use it, laptop or external, but not much luck aside from ThinkPads and similar
I think that literally only ThinkPads have that. Iirc it's a patent
any that can take a trackpoint mod then? idm that
I mean where can you find trackpoints lying around
Also doesn't Lenovo sell the keyboard itself separately?
this was what i was looking at before but
not sure
because split
I have no idea how to do that
It's been 1 hour and 30 minutes
I used to daily a crkbd, it’s not that hard to get used to. It depends what you’re doing. It just got tedious using layers for me but I’m sure I could have gotten used to it with better keymaps
i thought about it and it looked like tracking down the right keyboard and making the module might be a bit much for me haha
I used to use it at school lol
The tex shinobi exists as a more typical board with trackpoint
looks great! i think i might just grab a planck ez for the moment
