what the different between switch
pl
ok
ok
@safe nimbus there is linear and tactile switches
tactile has a bump that you can feel
linears have 0 bump and support are smooth
ohh
There are lots of good videos about it. LTT has a few
thanks

i talked
ltt videos on keyboards kinda scar me
u wat?
to the person
they dont harm you
they had a stroke
they were really bad to me
he build a board that had mx browns and rgb keycaps. And it had a aluminum case for mx browns no case foam no nothing.
This video should not exist
Why?
Stupid flipper who hardly knew shit about the hobby
As if we need more people joining the hobby trying to use it as a get rich quick scheme without actually appreciating and caring about the shit they're buying
flipping has ruined the hobby
I haven't seen many flippers recently.
For me to build and sell a board is WAY overpriced in Canada.
1 tax 2 shipping 3 border fees 4 usd to cad.
You clearly don't know this hobby and it's community then.
yeah
Should I wash the lube off my stabs before modding them
It's my first time and any tips would be nice
Unless you're using a different lube, it doesn't matter
If you want to do it properly, you can use a ultrasonic cleaner
If it were me I'd just wipe it off with a tissue
any non qwerty users here?
Yould isopropyl alcohol damage the stabs or switches if I clean them with it ?
I don't see why it would
Gonna do my first ever custom keeb, wish me luck boys
good luck!
anyone got a hotswappable switch usb c mechanical numberpad?
i bought a 60% kb and now i wanna learn blender
sigh
something like the GK21S by epomaker but preferably not 100 usd
^ more than my current gk61 smh
So I need a mousepad my wall is going to be yellow and 98% of my peripherals are black only my mesh system is white and my best mini is charcoal any suggestions also budget is $13 and at most $20 but highly unlikely
could pick up a Duckboard the next time they run a gb
then sell the pro micro included and buy an elite-c
Im looking for a 75% mechanical keyboard.. wired or wireless doesnt matter as long as its type c
german amazon ideally

@misty solar KC84 maybe
hello
tekl, colemak and asetniop
tekl is my own layout
Im on my phone I don't have it on my phone
I need to get on the computer, brb
it's pretty minor changes
just changing general annoyances i found in qwerty
moving a few keys which is never found in the Finnish language to places where it's harder to reach
a
asetniop seems to be like a layout where you sroke different letters to make other ones
reminds me of braille typing
yes
like steno but its not steno
Hi has anybody here got any experience with the gmmk pro
Wanted to build one and wasted to know if it’s worth 160 usd
And ofc the 8-20 waiting time is kinda annoying
I wasted my entire savings on a Logitech dump for nothing (G213)
are you gonna lube?
I don't have it and never tried it ... but some talked about it here and it seems that the keychron Q1 would be a better buy than the gmmk pro
it is'
worth it
has rgb
kbd pad
https://youtu.be/BAih24YcsIY i feel like it would take me a week to apply all those mods
Welcome to Keybored! THE GK61 - The Entry Keyboard that COULD! O-Ring Mod for Sound and Feel
Ever since the start of my channel, the one keyboard video that got the most amount of interest was how I O-Ring Modded the TOFU65 for that crisp and even sound and feel.
Since that TOFU65 video, there has been a lot of requests to visit the GK serie...
i didnt know you could even do that
you can
poggers
god damn they're so expensive still
i pushed down the rubber part in my membrane keyboard switch and now i have to press the key like 3 times for it to work
what do i do
buy a nwe keybaord
damn really?
fr no cap
Thanks guys iv moved on anyway as the shipping is more then half the cost
Looking at a custom drop alt
well this suckss
Does a mousepad make a keyboard sound less hollow
Depends on your table
Just try it out with several layers of medical masks under the feet
Like fold them in half and use two of the per side
That should probably give you a good idea about if it will sound
Or maybe use tissue paper, might not work as well, though
But it will definitely sound different, but that doesn’t mean that you will like the difference
Pic plz?
Maybe it is fixable
Gateron Yellows vs Reds?
Lmao ok thanks
What's a good looking cheap set of pbt keycaps with a 1.75u right shift?
yellows are heavier but generally a bit smoother.
It can yes ... I would go with a small hand towel to simulate the sound change ... it's not only the feet resting on the mat that will change the sound but also the material under the body of the keyboard
is there a video which shows what sounds a keyboard makes that you want to avoid, i.e scratchiness, rattles, spring ping, etc.?
and possibly compares them to a properly lubed keyboard?
Maybe check reviews of scratchy (maybe cherry brown) or pinging switches like outemu base switches
is it just me, or does stock outemu reds sound a bit better than stock gateron reds? (speaking from little experience, please correct me if I'm wrong)
No idea I've never had any of those
is it one of those opinions that I would get bashed by people who are more knowledgeable than me?...
Maybe ... I can tell you that outemu blue (and heard the same for red and brown) have a really bad spring ping ... like I can hear it over the click of the click jacket of the blue switch
thanks
idk why
but my keyboard sounds the best when its on my bed
Because your keyboard isn't also resonating the hard surface of your desk below.
It's why some people get desk mats or really long mouse pads.
It's why I have a mousepad atop a mousepad lol
Damn well, actually.
Please keep in mind that that only is the common taste, what others think about it doesn’t matter at all if YOU like it
Nice
Comfort is a rung below the G502 with its lowered click buttons but the functionality you get is insane.
When playing games I tend to map pretty much every button to my mouse so having the option to combine button inputs into one input is incredible.
Including tilt.
Nah. When playing driving and flight games I use a controller anyway.
Alright
Is it your favorite mouse?
And how well is the tilt usable?
Also, how useable is the pivot function?
It's by far and away my favourite, though I haven't tried many mice.
Nice
The tilt threshold is adjustable, so you can have it throw an input at like 1.7° or 80°.
Works very well and the natural shape of the mouse with the base I have on it makes it very easy to trigger but the threshold is set so it's not too easy where it throws inputs when I lift the mouse.
Haven't tried pivot yet.
Might be useful for arma and War Thunder and such
Many thanks for the info!
How much of a difference does that make?
Hey guys, I'm curious, is there a difference between logitech gx and gl switches? Particularly, gx brown and gl tactile?
Can’t really make out what is going on there
Chiclet style keyboards often have weird keycap mounting mechanisms
they thingy like the thing that makes them connect is broken
you messed up
i made that mistake yesterday
its broken assssssf rn
What’s the issue exactly?
a bunch of my keys take like 10 presses to work
since there isnt really a way to fix it i am just getting a mechanical keyboad
Hi, all,
I'm looking for a transparent, preferably wide, desk pad that's suitable (and preferably made) for gaming. That means that it has high accuracy for the mouse and my gaming keyboard wouldn't slip easily on it.
I'd appreciate recommendations 🙂
Also asked on #tech-chat-1, not sure what's the best channel to ask this on
I can put hyperx pudding keycaps on a coolermaster mk750 keyboard right
Should be able to as long as they fit that + style switch
Eh not for me
It works
What did you lube it with
And it’s those 3$ keyboards anyway so :P
All keys are functional
yes
would swapping out the stabilizers on my keychron q1 help
ive tried the holee mod and relubed everything with 205g2 and is still rattles a bit
But why?
try wireballencing and bandaid modding
ok thanks ill do that when i do the pe foam mod lmao
what about tape mod?
nice
I don't have anything to mesure the difference it makes
wish i knew
full keys mechanical keyboard with hot hot swappable keys, and uses USB C?
Need them for the gmmk pro
why the full version does not have detachable usb c connector... (I am using a tenkeyless right now). I want my numpad back lol
Huh
Gmmk pro
all other ones are detachable usb c but not the full one
does pro have full size keyboard option?
No it’s 75% and im asking if the keycaps fit the keyboard
it has a plate, and the function keys has some plastic frame. most cherry mx compatible key caps should fit but some don't within few millimeters
for example, this keycap set, shows it fits on a similar keyboard stackup
Okay thanks
Heyhey, I'm looking to buy a Keychron K8 with either Keychron Optical Brown switches or Gateron Brown switches, does anybody know the difference? (Not technical, just the things I can notice like travel distance, force and general feel)
Thanks, anyone else?
If you get the hotswap board you can't put mechanical switches in the optical board
gateron for da win
no the stuff inside of the case makes it less hollow.
a mouse pad makes the keyboard more thocky
What are some mods i can do to reduce my stabilizer rattle
I've done holee and lubed them
Wire balancing is one
Anything else
Have you clip the extra legs?
It's pre clipped
So just new stabs
It's not the stabs that can cause the tick
My spacebar is slightly warped
I think there's the slightest tick?
Is there a way to fix the warp
For the most part it sounds fine
What's the material of your keycaps?
Oof
Yea that's gonna be hard
Common method is to heat it up using a hair dryer and then bend it
But with the caps being abs, you have to be extra careful cause it can melt under the heat
Wonderful explanation, thanks
I'm looking to buy a Keychron K8 with either Keychron Optical Brown switches or Gateron Brown switches, does anybody know the difference? (Not technical, just the things I can notice like travel distance, force and general feel)
The spring weight is slightly heavier
Otherwise, nothing else based on how it constructed
Thanks <3
Do you guys like ever get used to one keyboard so much that using any other keyboard is just a pain.
Like iam on a trail apprenticeship for further qualifications and stuff and i feel like a snail typing on that keyboard ...
The keychron optical switches are also hotswappable, I'll just need to buy 12 more keychron optical switches which I'm completely fine with
I don't really need options, I want tactile and linear switches and as long as keychron makes optical brown and red switches that'll be fine. If I ever need something else I might just buy a new board, thanks though <3
Yes thats how muscle memory works
Ask if u can bring ur keeb in so you can use thst

if holeee mod dont work
yes it's very different
Does the PE foam mod make a board sound less hollow
It fills in some space so kinda yeah.
You'll need more material underneath the PCB though. Tempest mod it first so you don't end up with ESD against a bare PCB.
But it's mostly to alter the overall sound of the switches themselves.
I've yet to lube my switches so I don't know how much ping is left is from the case or how much ping is from my switches.
shoutout to RAMA for sending me the wrong fucking artisan, I paid more for the enter key and they sent me the 1u version
LOL
they were in-stock too
took 2 weeks for them to ship it out
@pallid trout couldn’t you bind a macro which lets you move your mouse down (with analog input) to the deep click of your left mouse button? This could make managing recoil much better
It's 5 AM and I'm about to test some macros
Lmao
It appears I can input mouse movement but not output it.
If you can also map -y mouse inputs in your game to a key then you can definitely manage recoil like that.
Lol epic
It could be argued that it isn’t cheating if one could get analog speed control to work
Because you’d still have to push down with the right force
Which one do you think looks better?
I might like 5 the best
4

4
5😋
meow
Huh?
pog
moeww
3 without the fn being black
Huh?
moewww
no
Huh?
Huh?
Meow
I would still like to know about that
What?
if you solder the leds in
But if the board already has them?
you can put solder leds through there
And directed to everyone on this channel: what are your favorite linears?
leme check
just google it
🤷
stop asking ppl here to do stuff for u
ok here
There wasn’t much info there
What? Many people know the stuff I’m asking without having to look it up
Geez
what switches do you have in ur kb rn?
I‘m gonna get murdered by the channel if I say that
But MX Blues
And I like them
😈
Also I had already tried to look it up, but the info was very sparse
get them and try
you dont need rgb
I mean the case I have in mind has got it, and it would be a shame if I couldn’t use it because of that
Thanks!!
People say they sound good
omg
But I doesn’t have to be them
get what you want
I don’t know what I want lmao
Why do you prefer them?
What tactile switch is your favourite?
u4t bobas
im a gamer and i can feel the bump
Gtg to bed now, gonna read the rest of your messages tomorrow, I’m really tired, sry
Thanks a lot for your info!
Sure
Marshmallows
none i dont like linears
at all
None too, they're all the same thing in the end just with varying prices and almost indiscernable differences in smoothness after lubing
true true
So i removed the clickbars on my kailh box white keeb
and it sounds thocky as hell
What's a good cheaper set of keycaps that have a gmk pulse vibe
Soon they will be min ... oh yeah soon they will be mine ...
I don't like linear much either
Akko midnight?
@unkempt dome did you get your Akko sponge switches?
https://www.amazon.ae/LUXCOMS-Oversized-Extended-Mousepad-Non-Slip/dp/B07GSXJZSV/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2BYFZVMIW8VYX&keywords=luxcoms&qid=1635912155&sprefix=luxcom%2Caps%2C369&sr=8-3
hi want to know if this is a good mouse pad?
It's good if you think it's good.
Because mousepads are generally about preference.
im looking for a budget mousepad with rgb preferably a max of 100aed also if there is an app controll it would be better but havent been able to find one with that for my budget
I finally got my new PCB's where I have fixed problems from my first revision.
Now it does support an OLED Screen 😎 I love this thing
(old picture, but I will post a new picture soon-ish when I can build one and show off the OLED)
Yes and it's strange how they feel
Keyboards too tho
@unkempt dome how strange ?
You don't really feel the second bump but you feel there's something there
Also my right shift can't come up in it's own cause of something get stuck and the spring doesn't seem to be strong enough to bring the key back up
Steam too tight?
I lubed the stabs but it didn't change much... I'll try to lube the switch this week end if I have time
Sound about the same as the other akko tactile switches
The polycarb bottoms didn't change the sounds signature?
I modded my K95 last weekend
Does the foam help a lot ?
Yes, a lot
That white coating looks fantastic on the aluminum top plate, nicely done!
Sounds like you modded the stabs somewhat as well?
Only lubed the stabs
Yeah that does a world of difference to eliminate the rattle on the K95
Especially on that spacebar

Still have the cheap plastic space bar cap tho
Didn't know much about keyboards when I bought it 3 years ago
And it costed me more then a DIY kit
Well, at least it gave me the opportunity to practice my soldering skills
Also just a heads up, if you're gonna use the Voice Recorder app that Samsung ships, use the standard mode rather than interview mode. Interview mode only picks up sounds from two directions (top and bottom) and throws it into left or right channel so it throws off the sound quite a bit. Standard will let you get the full sound across cleanly!
👍 I didn't think about that
Only thing I forgot to do is the pcb tape mod
I might re-open it and tape the pcb

I had fun and learned something at the same time:)
Yeah I think you're also hitting the ceiling on how much you can improve the K95 at this point too
Could've replaced the Gat brown switches
Metal top plate does have a higher pitch than plastic materials
Wait.
The tactile bump if from the start of the push to the end.
If you want there to be smoothness then a bump then bottem out get Zealio v2 g7 g
But get u4t bobas and if you dont like them just give them to someone else
if you want
For the price the boba cost I will certainly not give them
ik
@unkempt dome would probably build a shrine for them 😆
Nah not that much
Maybe I won't like them ...
You never know
For now my favorite switches are the lavender purple and the silent box brown ... I also like the halo true a lot but they are completely different
I found this keyboard called Gamdias Hermes M5 mech. Blue switches and it seems decent. Any thoughts for noob gamer. I was going to pair it with a reddragon storm 12400dpi lightweight mouse.
I'd rather you get this mouse @sinful fulcrum and the Gamdias is ok enough mechanical keyboard

Viper Mini
I use the Viper Mini and it's the best budget mouse
Thank you that was like my second options ☺️
yes
also i reccomend NOT getting blues
I heard blues are comfortable but loud which is fine with me.
I'm gonna play alot of genshin impact and pubg and idk phasmophobia
@pallid trout Why can’t the software output mouse data, tho
It just won't let me.
Can't explain any further than that.
It can output game controller buttons but I'm unsure if you can output to a joystick.
How cheap?
Viper mini from razer
hey guys I really need some help, message below this, is actually copy paste from another group cause I got ignored lol
I restored and deep cleaned a free keyboard which was used in my old school, so anyways I went there to take my last papers etc and I noticed they were throwing computers away
[9:20 ΜΜ]
fortunately most students got pc parts, even cases, so technically nothing left
[9:20 ΜΜ]
anyways I got a keyboard as the last school thing I'll have as a small memory
[9:20 ΜΜ]
I completely restored it, but it has a bad disadvantage
[9:21 ΜΜ]
other than being produced in 1995, it's got sticky buttons, not in the meaning that something was spilled
[9:22 ΜΜ]
it has that worn sticky feel
[9:22 ΜΜ]
and I can't think of a way to fix this issue, oil..? idk
[9:23 ΜΜ]
I'm typing with this keyboard rn so I can try to use it more and make the keys feel a little bit better, anyways if anyone got a solution that would be cool
now I'll show you guys the way the keys stick
Help
ik
blue are awful ... kailh box clicky lineup ftw
it's a 26yr old keyboard that I restored
but it keeps doing this thing
prefrence
It's annoying to be honest but I'd like to get it fixed
I've thought about putting some wd-40 drip in the key rails but I'm not sure, not in that amount that it would soak the whole board
just enough to lube it
that's a terrible idea
I know, I can't think anything else
well I know blue suck but not enough to make them be eaten away by wd40 ...
if you want to make them quiet just jailhouse them
it's a membrane keyboard
membranes themselves are great tho
- I meant that they're in good shape
oh that 1995 keyboard
yup srry
well I would remove the keycaps and clean them in dishwasher soap ...
well... guess what
clean the housing on the board with Q tips and some isopropyl alcohol but be careful not to soak the membrane
Keyboard got fully disassembled before even looking at the sticky buttons
what the hell is that wasd lol
they're not sticky cause of dirt
they're sticky cause keyboard was used 24/7 for 26yrs
it has that worn sticky feel
krytox gpl 205 g0 or if you want thinner krytox gpl 105
what is that?
hmm
not sure how the membrane will react if it got too much of it on it tho
I guess it's going to be fine
dude this lube is 90 euros
why is it so expensive lol
ur eu?
buy it here
greece
it's in europe soo
lemme see the link
we got expensive tax and it goes to 30 something euros
f
is there any more option?
+1
What do you plan to do with this mouse?
im looking for some good sounding switches any reccomendations
Tecware Phantom + Viper Mini or HyperX Pulsefire Haste
Otherwise go with any cheapo mechanical with Non-dustproof outemus
If tecware phantom unavailable
Outemus are a bit better than Cherry
Except for dust proof outemu which is truly bottom tier
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
soft or dense foam? for modding keyboard
ik
aight
can i dm you?
ok dence foam in the case thin layer of foam for foam mod
ok thx
anything else?
3203 and 3204 is thin good for tactiles.
not linears
unless you mix it with krytox 205g0
I know
Was not talking about that anyway it was for a membrane board
Also you can lube linear with any thickness you want ... they won't suddenly explode if you lube them with 3204
Cherry MX reds vs Cherry MX browns
I'm getting a rk61 and dont know what switches to get
I dont want to spend money on aftermarket switches so it's only between these
Cherry reds are linears and cherry brown feels like scratchy sandy linear ... so it's preference indeed
Outemu Reds
The ones that aren't dustproof
Good switch choice nowadays
Gaterons still better though
But at least Outemu > Cherry
i'm not sure what program you're using but i'd recommend kicad, and making use of global labels. it can make it a lot cleaner.
ah. unless web based is a requirement i think that kicad is better
i'm sure both are perfectly fine though, just use whatever is most comfortable for you
those 2 links i sent should have everything needed to show you how to do rgb underglow
ah, i dont have experience with that but i assume this rgb matrix feature will be needed https://beta.docs.qmk.fm/using-qmk/hardware-features/lighting/feature_rgb_matrix
i know that this has support for per key rgb, you could have a look through that.
OMG prefrence
but get reds
wrong chat
Alr
I wonder why America makes it so hard to find the keyboard I want to get.
Anyways does a cheap low profile mechanical keyboard containing these requirement exists?:
- Uses ISO layout, as I can't stand clicking \ by accident when I want to tap enter
- RBG backlit, and hopefully is easily customisable just as well as cosair
- Full size keyboard
- Brown switches
- and by cheap I mean <£75
ISO layout 😮
bruh as european i hate ISO
why?
Short left shift and bulky enter triggers me
also backslash on left
that should be illegal
But mu guess is, look for keychron
I prefer bulky enter, else my pinky will spread on the enter key and \ key
Keychron K3 UK ISO Layout Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. Compact 75% Layout. Ultra-slim. Wireless Bluetooth 5.1 or Wired type-C mode. Users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the Optical switch hot-swappable version. Works with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Low profile Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices.
it doesn't fit my requirement onto full size layout though, I also want the 10 keys too
Got for amlost a month K3 V2 ANSI and its not the best keyboard but its decent
Software is crap, tfu lack of any software
and also battery indicator sucks
so rgb backlight isn't as easily customizable as cosair's one? and maybe more limited than it?
There are built in modes and thats all (or I dont know how to turn on customize mode)
and theres no software, even Open RGB
whelp then, my ideal keyboard doesn't exist unless it's over £150
Dont go for G915. compared to keychron keycaps and switches sucks 😄
They are using very weird mouting for them
and getting alternative keycaps is amlost impossible
it's over my budget anyway
I wanted full size keyboard as the numberpad is useful for me too
they are all going to go over my budget
@hasty saffron this is my requirements, I don't think you had checked above, so I will link it
yeah my requirements sent the list of keyboard (that meets my condition) down to 0
there are lots that meets 4/5 of my requirements, just that it doesn't comes in ISO layout
You're too picky
oh gahd the omron logitech keyboards hav even worse keycap mounting lol
wazup
which cherry mx
I'll be honest most mainstream tactile switches aren't the best but it is preference
I did it people... I lubed up the switches on my Planck keyboard. These silvers feel completely different.
What do you think about Akko CS switches?
Which one ?
Never tried retro white
I just got an ANSI one
it's like asking if cherry switches are good ... some are good and some are trash
Which ones do you find to be trash? (Of both brands)
Cherry brown... but that's my preference
I haven't found a trash akko yet ... doesn't mean there's one ... it just mean I haven't tried it and found out about it
Ok thanks
Also I don't k know much about linear switches
me using an apple magic keyboard
I mean, what’s wrong with that
Because snappier?
I hate typing on chicklets
Why may i ask?
Ah ok valid reasons
I can't stand typing on any laptop or chicklet keyboard
ANY laptop? How bout the 21x
No idea what that is
Chonk
^
That's just a full height mechanical in a laptop
But you prefer chiclets you said?
Well it's not cause it's mechanical that it's automatically better ... it can be ... but it can be worst too ... depend how they implemented it
Over a normal mechanical I assume
No i prefer the apple keyboards
Then cherry red
Best keyboard I ever typed on was the buckling spring that came with the tandy 1000 ... and second best was an old Compaq membrane board with rectangular slider under the keycaps ...
I will still prefer a typewriter
model M
^
I try to avoid that as I'll need to readjust my finger position, and it's likely I'll just keep hitting \ throughout the years
Ah
Well I both use QWERTZ and ANSI QWERTY
But it’s a bit of a problem, yeah
Wasn’t that long ago when I learned touch typing, tho
Sorry I read pc and my brain cut out the keyboard part.
It would be more helpful if you said pcb instead pc sorry
hi does anyone know how input delay is on kbm series x?
Which material would be better to put under my pcb instead of pe foam?
Top one is felt and bottom one is rubber btw
Try the both, then choose which one will sound best to you, you can also apply painters tape under the PCB (if not already done) it to changes the switches sound.
I don't have anything under the pcb
I just lubed the switches and tape moded the stabs
Yeah Ik foam will be better
That's what I used for my K95
I'll try and get some next week
Maybe not
I have GK61 with Optical Silver:)
Keyboard sound is really subjective. I might like a certain sound signature and you won't. That why I suggested you try each one to see which to you sound better.
I think I'll try both on Sunday
Tommorow I am going to a bday party so I can't
And I really don't want to unscrew it again this night
The stabs made my cry at the lubing part fr
Oh I am still a minor so I am lucky that my keeb is hot swappable bc my dad would get angry at the soldering part:)))
It's not that it's hard to do, it just take time to do.
My dad would be happy if I did soldering and other stuff like that
Never to late to try and learn
bruh wut u doin
I dont have a job or money tho
Will be getting one soon tho
Thats so much desoldering o.o
Don't you get any money from school?
That's my main resource for money
Oh lol

20$
Maybe I'll try to practice soldering too but hotswap is still better imo
Does it work in the us tho?
Lol free delivery on first order
Hotswap makes it way faster for sure.
I think I made a big mistake for buying the optical version bc I can't get Gateron Black Inks for example
Look for the same kit on Amazon.com
Indeed, you stuck with optical switches only.
lmao my pc mining has raised the house temp by 2 degrees f
Well I don't think I'll change the keeb in the next 3 years so it's not a big problem
But it's always fun to try new switch type from time to time
I want to try optical yellows so they will be next :))
It really changes the whole feel of your keyboard
Ik
I had a mechanical marvo shit keeb before my Razer Ornata V2 and the switches were shit
They were some reds shits
looks like it will work in the us
I type a lot for work, and linear is not for me. i prefer the tactile switches with heavier springs
I have 71 wpm on my linears
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08W3MBZMM/ref=emc_b_5_t or could get this it looks a bit nicer
And for a 13 yr old I think that's good
im 14 almost 15 and i max at 65
ig this is gonna be what i ask for for christmas
I kept the Gateron browns on the K95, on my Womier K87 i'm using Akko Ocean Blue tactile with 62g springs
I dont think parents would buy something like that for a 14yr old
u dont know my parents
Mine would if it's about my passion
im getting a 200cc four wheeler next week or this week
How are the Akkos?
Why wouldn't they ?
I heard that Akko switches aren't that good
The keycaps are fire tho
I think I'll get the neon keycaps set for Christmas
And Durock Stabs too
For the price, they are good
Probs cause they don't understand kb mods and probably think of it as a stupid purchase that'll be used once and never touched again
I lost a stem from one of my stabilisators...
i do other electric stuff i wouldnt use it just for keebs
ive been looking for a soldering gun
*iron
i have a variation of that soldering station and its more than good enough for keyboard stuff. i'd question what you need the helping hands for, personally i've not found them necessary in everything i've done so far but they would have made some things a bit easier
What keyboard are you using at the moment ?
I'm using a budget Mech kb atm, I'm saving up to upgrade my pc
other electric stuff too id think it to be quite handy for fixing old pc parts and other things
which flux you get is preference but imo a pen or a tube is easier than paste
I don't know much about kb mods, but I sure do know alot about pc building and hardware
ill check those out
fair. i've soldered directly only 0.1mm traces before without issues, but it did take a little bit of patience
i'm just reluctant to spend money on things like helping hands when i have plenty of time, i'd rather struggle through with what i already have until something better is a necessity
I remember when my dad desoldered my Marvo keyboard switches to clean them because they were full of juice and we didn't even solder them back xd
I'll dig deeper into the Keyboard world when I 100$+ lying around to mod my kb
i have a lot of school and i have a farm i dont have a lot of time
i have a single 2hr lesson a week and tahts it
GK61X pcb would be a good start into the world of keebs
hurray for basically neet life
Just by modding your budget KB, you could make it feel and sound better than a $250 KB This is why KB mods are popular.
I'm using a K552 Redragon(Yes I know it's a bad choice with otemu blue switches, but I love it's back stand, and it'll be enough for a temporary mech Keyboard)
akko pinks would go into it
I recommend the tape mod, it really changed my stabs sound
those are like 30 bucks for 90 switches
I'm thinking of building a 60% or TKL, from scratch.
That's not a bad choice in that price range
I wanted a tkl too but I don't have enough money so I went for the GK61 optical silver
I wanna use a 60% Because they're tiny but sometimes the Function keys really come in clutch.
oh welp
I've seen worst, only people with unlimited budget will judge your KB.
The function keys can be used on a 60%
fn + 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - =
using function keys is fine
I mean the delete key and other keys that usually are above the arrow keys
with a little bit of practice
Im not sure what you call them
nav cluster
I see
imo the hhkb layout is the pinnacle of 60%
Is thocc better or Ocean blues or Pinks
I see
I heard about people lubing their keys and such, is that one of the expert sections of keyboard modding?
if u get good switches its not needed imo, but it is a common mod
Only you can decide what sound and feel you prefer
It's needed for any linear switch imo
To re lube them
then u havent felt good enough linears
Idk abt that
my early 1988 w german vint blacks were more than smooth enough without any lube
no noticeable scratch when pressing slowly
I only typed on optical silvers and on a budget marvo keeb so Ig you are right
But from what I heard on yt the lube makes a big diff on any switch
much smoother than even my 205g0 lubed gateron clears
yeah it'll make a difference
whether that difference is desirable is up to you
@chrome raft don't lube clicky switches btw
Some like more and others less lube (preference)
Such as blues? Ocean blues? And pinks?
You can, just not on the legs that actuate the click
Didn't look at them
It's not recommended
i'm thinking of lubing some vintage blues i have as a joke
Well goodnight folks, it's 5:08am for me. I'll be heading off to bed
Goodnight
gn!!
Like i said, not recommended only on the legs that comes in contact with the leaf
Wonder what they would sound like (muted clickys) 🙂
would lube light enough they still click
a friend did it and really liked it
super thin layer of gpl 103
on the housing sliders only
Prob less anoying
yeah he said it made it deeper
not sure i'll bother with it tbh, but it would be funny for my only lubed switches to be blues
I want to try some tactiles but I only have a friend with a mech keeb and he has HX reds
Endgame to my life too XD
Topre boards $$$$
worth every penny
He's 14
13:))
hhkb is my second cheapest board i own and its definitely the one i'd choose if i could only have 1 board
ah, fair
on yahoo jp you can get used hhkb pro 1 / 2 and realforce for cheap
how loud is brown cherry compared to red cherry? Youtube still doesn't give me a good idea of how loud it'll be
depends on the board
they'll be a bit louder just because the friction of the tactile event will cause noise
I just got gk61 a week ago and lubed the switches yesterday
I'm not thinking of another keeb rn
But thanks for the suggestions
nice, that feeling of getting your first board is always nice
if there's one thing i could do differently in the hobby it would probably be to have kept more of my earlier stuff
The switches on my marvo broke after I spilled juice on them and my parents got me the Ornata V2 a year ago
Lubed Mx brown vs Mx red
I will deff keep the Ornata in case my gk61 doesn't work
sound test means nothing if they arent done in the same environment with the same board
I know, it gives a idea
Why do the reds sound louder to me lol
both exact same board but sound quite different, only difference is cam position and the desk they're on
Gain on the mic is also not at the same level
Me who did a sound test with my Cloud Alpha mic lol
distance to the board is probably causing the main difference in volume
is it bad to be picky about keyboards, there's no keyboard costing under £75 that meets my requirements
Wdym by picky?
I want to get a keyboard with a set of requirements, but I can never find one
its not bad to have specific requirements
what are those requirements? maybe i have suggestions
What req?
- Uses ISO layout, as I can't stand clicking \ by accident when I want to tap enter
- RBG backlit, and hopefully is easily customisable just as well as cosair
- Full size keyboard
- Brown switches
- and by cheap I mean <£75, or I can take it up to <100 if there's no choice
- low profile, forgot to add it
I assumed it was filmed with a camera and mic, not a phone
nah, just phone
keychron came pretty close, but you can't really customise the colour as well as cosair
That's why Corsair is much more expensive
Because RgB
if i were going to the effort of using a proper cam and mic, i'd tidy up first 🙈
@swift kayak Try and look for Hyperx Alloy
Gaming keyboards are expensive and really bad quality.
And also the custom keebs are still better for gaming but they don't have good rgb customization
I'm working with cam and mic all day for work 🙂
The only good keeb from a big brand is the SS Apex Pro with the omnipoint switches
my filco majestouch is really nice but doesnt have rgb
it's just that blocky keycaps looks ugly imo, i prefer a thin keycaps, with a thin body.
I wonder what will a keyboard with thin keycaps looks like on top of full size switches
low profile = short travel?
low profile to me means that the edges of the case dont reach up to cover the sides of the switches, i think there may have been a misunderstanding between us lol
my definition of low profile is like the keyboard is shorter on the y axis
You can be picky as you want, but you will have to shell big $ to get 5/5 of what you want.
i think those boards are kinda ugly so i probably cant offer suggestions
well, if keychron does allow me to customize the rgb backlight freely, instead of being limited to 16 different patterns, then I would have brought it
That why mainstream gaming keyboards suck, buy trying to please the max amount of gamers
I have a Corsair K95. honestly i played with the layers and all the type of effects for a while. now it's a static color to match my PC's color scheme.
This is my brother's keyboard
K70
wait whattttt, either my dad lied or he actually brought it for £60 when it's that high of a price
I mean Corsair K70 model
mine is K95 difference is the 6 macros (G keys) on the left
is scissor switches good for gaming and typing? after some thinking, I think I prefer laptop's keyboard
but i'm not sure if the difference between mech and scissor is enough to affect one's ability to play well
I watched the video about how to clean a keyboard (or putting a keyboard in the dishwasher) and I was wandering if I should do it or not. The keyboard I'm currently using is a steelseries apex 3, which claims to be water resistant. So i'm not sure if the dishwasher could kill that resistance by any chance
One of my favorite switch is akko
Get akko or boba switches if it's outemu hotswap ... foam the case and change the keycaps for some double shot pbt and you're set for a nice typing experience
I like lavender purple way more than ocean blue
i mean.. nothing's wrong with it?
it's probably a membrane keyboard but it's completely fine regardless
i have an rk61
its mechanical and quite nice
fully hot swappable
i would reccomend rk products
They are
Look it up
Can anyone here recommend AKKO CS Vintage Whites?
Wait, what? Black inks are cheaper?
does he use the numpad?
akko cs rose red 10 $ for 45 switches
Hey guys what's the price on a second hand G Pro Wireless mouse? and where can I buy one ? (Live in Canada and looking for something like 80% new and all original components included, like usb receiver, side button covers, cable, weight and all that)
Yes
GK61, just generic old af kit
I have the GK68 its nice
It's ok
I'd say the new Royal Kludge hot swaps
it's just a difference in size
hot swap
with any of the gateron switches
You can go Keychron too @chrome raft
If you like Linears they're ok
Well yellow and black are heavier linear than red ... the spring force is a preference there
I can tell you that gateron yellow are pretty smooth out of the box, sounds nice too ...
Cause banggood
Hm alright
Or they are some kind of cheap clone... or they just buy them by the thousands at a time so the bulk price is way lower
That's about the logical explanation I can think of ...
No idea if it's really it or not
Oh wait, they’re not black inks, there we have it
lol
XPS 17?
do you like them ?
Any good 100% keyboard kits you could recommend? Budget ones (you can get them to sound very good through mods, right?)
the gmmk, royal kludge, keychron
leopold, varmilo, durgod, ducky if you want prebuilt
The GMMK Full-size?
Thanks for the recommendations!
It’s just the name of the kit, just to make sure
Can you O-Ring mod those?
I mean that mod much basically turns the keyboard into a gasket mounted one, I’m gonna send you a video with one
Not really no
I know what oring are ... I have oring and tried them
It doesn't feel that great
On the keycaps?
Yes
@unkempt dome https://youtu.be/BAih24YcsIY this is the mod I meant
Welcome to Keybored! THE GK61 - The Entry Keyboard that COULD! O-Ring Mod for Sound and Feel
Ever since the start of my channel, the one keyboard video that got the most amount of interest was how I O-Ring Modded the TOFU65 for that crisp and even sound and feel.
Since that TOFU65 video, there has been a lot of requests to visit the GK serie...
In around the middle of the video
I don't really see the appeal in that ...
In gasket mounts?
In oring for the plate
Much more expensive, tho
Any tactile switches that support RGB you all could recommend?
Bloodface sent me one in DMs
(Boba U4T RGB Tactile Switches) but can’t find an offer for EU
they are on aliexpress
