Pngu so lit
p much -> pretty much
Pretty much
i love pngu
Good lad
Cover the feet of your keeb with a medical mask or two
Just try it
Stocker gaming mod incoming
I’m not doing it, but I can guess what it does
Why aren't you doing it? :(
Not enough to have medical masks under my keyboard at all times
I mean it would be quite easy to make a version of this which is less intrusive
That probably makes more of a difference than any keyboard mod
I feel like keycaps matter much more than the case too
If you are isolating the sound from the table
Does anyone here know where I can find good 75% keycap sets?
And how does the Keychron K2 compare to the Epomaker Akko 3084?
anyone here who should know anything doesn't care about those so we dont know
thats the power button lmao
You mean that they are too cheap?
the led indicator positions are whack af
what do you think
😭 its awful
mx i'm sick pls dont make me cough
I still have my cough from covid
filco is already the best bt tkl
no realforce aesthetic
Know anything about what?
about keyboards
without owning it, how would one be able to tell if one is better than the other
i'm honestly much more a fan of r2 (i prefer it to r1 as well)
anyone knows a good bluetooth dongle for windows? i had the tp link one and it was horrendous
r1 4head is so nice in a weird way
r3 software suite looks good tho
and from what I read, delay isn't really noticeable on bt mode
i dont notice any delay on hhkb bt but i'm not a gamer
still abit conflicted about the new badge, but its not too bad
maybe it'll grow on me
0.8mm actuation distance based
the japanese have their priorities straight
i'll probably buy it because its bluetooth
same
but still going to get a bluetooth filco, i need a kobo frame
kobo frame?
yoooo, that looks nice af
i was planning on keeping it boring with candy cherry, but the more complex ones are also super cool
yeah
@urban glade do you use a deskpad?
nope
@urban glade then try this
Hm
Why not anymore?
And what do you all think about o-rings?
And where do you all buy keycaps?
because i prefer the sound without it and its nice to have fewer things on my desk
i do not know what a foam mod is
other than i assume filling the case with foam and ruining it in the process
Oh, it’s ruined by that?
And what about O-Rings?
imo yeah, foam gets rid of any character from the board and makes it sound dead
Hm
i dont like o rings. if you need a quiet board just get silent switches in the first place
o rings dont quieten the upstroke anyway
Wait, isn’t the noise it dampens not switch specific?
i'm not sure why you would use o rings if not to quieten the board
Or do silent switches have dampers inside of them?
Doesn’t it have a different sound then too?
silent switches had dampeners inside on the top and bottom of the stem so its quieter
The white on the stem are dampeners
What do u guys think about artisan hien soft is it good?
does anyone know where can i get one of these pls
Can't wait to get the Q2
Amazon or ebay
Thx
Doesn’t seem like there are a lot of 75% keycap sets
But I can’t just take 100% sets because the spacebar and right shift key needs to be shorter and stuff
Is there any place to get one of these fancy spacebars, but fitting the 75% layout?
not particularly helpful but i usually buy from friends or ppl on discord/telegram as i only get older sets taht arent for sale anymore
for modern stuff - kbdfans has some in stock stuff (mainly blanks), there are some other places, and you can check for keycaps here https://kbd.news/vendors
just beware most of them will be group buys/pre orders
not much in stock
Get dsa or dsa set and put some novel keycaps where there's non standard ones
Hm maybe thx
What is up with all those pervert styled keycaps
And why does everyone want coiled chords?
Isn’t shipping cost to the EU a bit high?
Is it possible to increase key wobble by changing keycaps too often?
yeah i saw, thanks! I like all the GMMK pro features and stuff like rgb and hotswap, i kinda just want a boxier case
Why do we even use mechanical keyboards
I'm so much faster typing on laptop keyboards lol
And 90% of what I do on my keyboard is well... typing
So it seems counterintuitive to chose a keyboard that's objectively worse
Like look at the best typists, mostly low profile keyboards or laptop keyboards
printed my face onto a keycap
thank you finn, very cool, you can claim your funny points in any other channel
also low profile switches exist
Are they objectively worse?
What about the accuracy?
How do you fix a hollow sounding spacebar btw?
30wpm isn't fast Btw
Why can't we just have a conversation about this?
There's a reason why top typists don't use mechanical that much
Low profile is a good point yeah
Is there another reason this is the case? Am I missing something?
The general feel or how tactile mechanical is seems to be the main advantage
Definitely feels better to type on
Steve Wrona uses a mechanical keyboard as far as i remember
I think mechanical is less common though, he could be the exception, not the rule
Everyone I know can type about 10-20wpm faster on a laptop too
sure if you are going for raw speed the short travel of a laptop keyboard is better
but yes, many think mechanical switches feel and sound much better. Also the hard bottom out is not great for your fingers in the long run iirc, more of a risk for rsi
Yeah I can see that
Steve does use dovrak layout which has been said to be better
What key switches are these?
You can get those on amazon too ... also I'm not in eu
I hate typing on a laptop / chicklet keyboard ... those suck
That... that isn't how that works
budget and size?
budget is around €150, but I'd prefer 100-80 as long as it's a reliable kb
Ideally there is a middle ground of an amount of money that you can spend on a board when it begins to get more "premium", and it starts right up around in the $200 range
Personally if my maximum budget were 150 euro (excluding shipping, not sure what it would be for you), I would try to go with something like the KBD67Lite to see how you like a budget custom
Yeah I don't need premium, also I don't think I want the numpad or maybe even just a 70% or whatever that one is with 60% + F keys + dedicated arrows keys + 4 home hub keys
TKL?
If it's from a wellknown brand I can pick it up from the store, otherwise shipping is pretty low for me
Yeah but a bit smaller
Idk I watched some video about all the keyboard sizes and there was one that had only a singular vertical row with 'home' and 'end' and such, also with arrow keys crammed in
But TKL is completely fine for me
I run a fullsized keyboard rn, not angled
Personally I managed going from a full size Corsair to a custom 75%
And I still have plenty of room for my mouse so I think TKL is what I'm looking for since most manufacturers support it
and even that still had keys I didnt need
TKL is your safest bet if you don't want to lose too many keys from a functionality standpoint
I'm not using the home hub but I like the dedicated arrow keys
(depending on what you do with it)
I just game and watch yt
Did you want to get something you could modify?
And I don't use the functionalities that come with my fullsize keyboard because I honestly don't know how and don't value my time that much so I just use my mouse
Nah I don't trust myself with that, and also I think that will just cost more for no reason then
Oh so you want something prebuilt in other words then
Yeah a keyboard preferably :)
well if you want something thats pretty basic and not too expensive you can try keychron
They have stuff listed on Amazon and their own site
not sure which will be cheaper to ship to you so I'd check both
Ahyes I was looking at Keychron boards the other day, but I wasn't sure if it was a reliable brand
And I didn't really find my way around the website not gonna lie
Want me to just send you a link to a TKL?
I'm in the Netherlands, I'm quite certain Keychron doesn't have a production line nearby, unless it's in Germany
Yes please that would be very nice
Not sure if they allow links in this channel so I'll PM it to you
Oh okay ty
Idk why ants are eating away at the silicone membrane of my keyboard. Does anybody know why? I never ate near my PC
Wtf
You should probably get rid of it and also place ant traps around your space
You probably have an ant issue on top of whatever the heck they’re attracted to
How's this sound?
Keychron is well respected in the community, they arent top quality, but their boards are quite good for the price.
Other good brands to look to are durgod, varmilo, and leopold.
idk, sounds awful tho
Anyone know of a good website that does custom keyboards?
elastic keyboard
Don't buy based on brand.
Good companies can make bad products.
Bad companies can make good products.
It's all case-by-case
Why do they suck?
Hm thx for the info
I feel like it is kinda weird that many keyboard enthusiast see the thocc as OBJECTIVELY the best sound
Also that any keyboard that doesn't sound good to them is trash
Not objectively, just preference.
There's no way to scientifically prove "thocc" is the one true sound to strive for unless you get some mass controlled survey.
Cause I don't like them ... no travel at all, way too easy to actuate, barely any feedback when typing
Well the feedback is there, tho
i dont like them cause they feel mushy
Yeah if you call it feedback ... as much feedback as cherry brown
Did anyone try to put foam inside a spacebar keycap yet?
Because I might try that to eliminate a certain resonance which I KNOW comes from the keycap
And why is barely anyone talking about the Kailh Box Reds? Aren't they pretty cheap and not in need of any lubing?
linear supremacy
what do you think is a good alternative to something like MX blues? I really like the clicky sound, but don't like the "flat" and light feel of blues. I like the browns and also atm using romero-g that are brown-like, but i don't like the sound of either of those. romero-g is loud but not in a good way kind of loud. the feel is probably my favorite tough. I just miss the clicky sound
so what would be a mx blue alternative that feels a bit more "heavier"? normal blues are just a little too flat and empty feeling to me
I mean if you like romer-g then idk what to recommend
Gateron Green switch, Kailh Jade, Kailh Pale Blue
@final belfry @gilded gyro but keep in mind that clickbar switches can actuate without clicking
they actuate before the click event yea
not saying it's the best, just "ok"
I just miss a bit more heaviness on the cherry mx blues
then go gateron green
so all of those listed do that? but it's not such a big deal, right?
allright thanks I'll take a look!
is there even a retail keyboard that comes with these I could buy?
I don't want to manually install the switches
so chery mx green could work as well?

Today I take a look a Cherry MX Green clone – the Gateron Green. The spacebar sounds pingy, but that’s because the microphone is ~10cm a...
wow the spacebar sounds disgusting, even more than on my blue
why its rlly easy on hotswap
im pretty sure yes since the actuation force is the same
and there both tactile
to me it's just that I'm ussually slamming my blues very hard and they start feeling a bit empty and flat
lol, it's probably not helping I've been using brown/romero-g at home and blues at work, so every day I am switching between the two
cherry greens u need up to 105g of force
that is actually a lot
meh I think I'm probably just missing the bump
as always, it's one of the hardest choices to mankind because both are great in their own way
you're really serious with that lube?
if you want smooth and non scratchly switches its the only way
and u can spring swap
Oh no I get some products can be tested worse even from a good brand, I just mean that having a reliable company to help me when the product defects or anything like that will always be a big factor for me when buying a product
Thanks :) I'll keep it in mind
varmilo is overpriced
Then I hope they have good customer support :)
idk about customer support but there overpriced
ok so prebuilt or custom?
I want an 80% or 75% keyboard, €100 budget, custom or prebuilt, no need for wireless
I was thinking of the Keychron K8-A3 but the shipping is €42 to europe
Also the K8 is optionally wireless, which obviously costs more then what I need to pay for what I'm looking for
keychron is for people who value wireless
Oh
yeah
if u dont need wireless u cant get boards that have better keycaps, better stabs or better switches
im pretty sure every keychron keyboard has wireless
Or what brands/specific products would you recommend?
ducky is also pretty gud
C1 doesn't
are u into gaming or want rgb
But it's not sold in my country unlike the K8
I don't really care about rgb
And yeah I only play games and watch yt with it
And yes I value the arrow keys for yt :p
And for video editing actually if I ever get into that again
Nah
ok then u should get tkl not 75% or 80%
if u have space
much easier to use and u dont need to learn how to use
Isn't 80% the same as TKL?
yeah
75% is also with arrow keys, right?
but there hard to use
like the left shift is cramped
Ooh okay
Hmm yeah that'll be for me then
I don't even need the extra space from TKL anyways, I just don't feel like paying for the numpad
Do you have TKL recommendations?
im finding
:) ty
what colour keycaps u want
I don't care, maybe black/blue/grey/white
I like the color scheme on the Keychron K2, with White, Black and Red
do you need hotswap
like do you want to be able to replace your switches very easily
like without soldering
Yeah I think I was linear wasd, shift and ctrl keys and the rest tactile
Ty zenith already explained what hotswap is :)
yes or no do you need hotswap
Yes, because I want tactile and linear switches
ok thanks
No u
hotswap is very hard to find tho lol
Ohhh
ok what do you use ur keyboard for
Then I'm not actually sure whether I want linear or tactile
gaming typing or both
Gaming
only gaming
Yeah I don't need to type comfortably, although actually I do care about the tactile switches when typing ok I did not thunk this through
Gaming and typing is the answer
so you do care about typing
If you don't really care what it feels like, Tactile
If you wanna go for a safe bet, Linear
are you very space limited
tactile is probably a safe bet
some people hate linear for typing
Tactile is much harder to get a nice feeling
A linear is easy enough
some people hate linears for typing
they would rather chose an average tactile over a good linear
Oh I think I have tactile rn and it feels nice, but after long time it gets annoying
do you care about noise
Yeah I want red or brown
so ur moderatly noise sensitive
I prefer the tactile feeling, I don't like the effortlessness of linear when typing
exactly see some people dont like linears for typing
It's why I almost failed my exams, yeah
ok so u dont need silent switches but also u dont want blues
Yas
I like to hear a little feedback when clicking, but I tried blues and I don't like that
ok do you want a light, moderate or heavy switch
I kinda like the heavy switches for typing, but for gaming I don't want it because that makes me really slow and it makes my fingers sore
so moderate switches
Or both
??????
Tactile mostly, but with linear QWEASD and Shift and Ctrl
Oh no that's scary
I guess, but preferably hotswap
Not colourful :)
Don't really care, or don't know yet
I'm buying a new pc and am not sure whether the case is gonna be black or white
oh ok
i remember being recommenced a keyboard here a while back i and i dont remember the name
it was 60% had blue click switches and was about £40 does anyone have any ideas
is this ok with cherry browns
Ooh yeah thatlooks good
ok sure
there u go
sounds like the GK61 to me
The switches choice is really a personal preference imo.
yeah
Oh but that's more expensive than the K8 :(
ur buget was higher than that
True hehe
Okay thanks for the help!!
I'm not sure which one I want yet but I'll save this one
Tyouu
np
I found an even better option for me than the K8 with Gateron brown and white light, it's the K8 with Keychron optical (which is a risk I'm interested in taking) with rgb backlighting, because I think I want a nice brown/red theme for my setup later
Also with the black pc case and orange/brown/dark green themed rgb
Maybe even a noctua gpu if they keep making those :))
what????
Iknoww but I think I'm gonna buy the 4000x case and I probably won't need any more fand with that
I might get a noctua cpu cooler though
yeah
Jayztwocents has two videos from this month featuring the Noctua gpu
In the second one he ripped the fans of lol
Anyhow, I think I might buy the Keychron board with Keychron Optical switches, unless y'all know about some disadvantages I should hear about?
optical switches are a risk
Because they're pretty new?
yeah
not really
I think it'll be fine
its more you are limited to one brand of switches only
due to the current state of optical where every one and their mom has a different proprietary execution on the optical part
I see
the keycap mount are all cherry mx yea
but like, you cant swap in outemu opticals into a board that previously hosted gateron opticals
unless the construction is exactly the same
Ahwell I don't mind getting all my switches from Keychron, although I gotta find out if I can ever get them in europe without paying €42 shipping
which country are you in?
[break] Keychron toetsenborden K1 K2 K3 K4 K6 K8 K12 C1 C2 Uitvoering 87-keys of 104-keys 84-keys 84-keys 100-keys 68-keys 87-keys 61-keys 87-keys 104-keys Acht
Ahyes I saw the ergowerken ones, but they were €12 for 12 instead of €4 for 12
So I thought that was kind of a scam
ah, for the switches?
theres also a netherlands keyboard brand called wooting
I'm gonna try the brown opticals first, then consider swapping my wasd with linear, and then I would even have spare linear and opticals if any other switches break
their hall effect keyboards are something pretty interesting imo
if you are looking at optical switches
Oh my god I saw Wootingkb on instagram and it looked amazing, but I thought it was a complete scam because well, it was an instagram ad
chyrosran22 featured them in a review
Oh sick they're legit?
Imma go find a hall keyboard rn then, thanks!
you do def pay for the niche of hall effect switches
but the switch itself is way smoother than any contact based design stock to stock
Skip to 16:25 for a typing demonstration.
It's finally time to take a look at the Wooting Lekker edition keyboard! With new and improved Hall effect switches, this keyboard is quite something.

My switch teardowns: http://bit.ly/2C1QGHz
My TOP X videos: h...
They're out of stock and the only boards they're building or going to be buulding from now on are the Wooting Two HE fullsize or 60% version, neither of which is the size I'm looking for sadly
yea thats sadge
Also those colours mildly disgust me, but I would actually love to try their LE switches if they bring out a black TKL board and have it in stock by next week😅
Okay thanks for the help either way, I think I'll just buy the hotswappable Keychron optical browns, and then hope they don't break +hope they feel nice enough for gaming so I won't mant to buy an extra set of linear opticals
yea
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=4262 i found a hall effect keyboard
its 60% + black
he needs a tkl tho
thats why all wooting lineup is not suited for him
oh yeah
yeah there are like 10000 tkl keebs
How precise are analog optical switches? Hall effect switches won’t work in my idea because of the electromagnets used for actuation
im pretty sure there worse then mechanical
Are there analog mechanical switches?
????
What do you mean?
analog and mechanical are too opposites
mechanical is using mechanical stuff and analog is using light
There are analog Hall effect switches too
ik
Also I could imagine analog mechanical switches
Why should they be worse for this application?
inconsistent
non-modular
expensive
Inconsistent in what way?
reliability
In what way are they unreliable?
stroke detection
adjective
adjective: analog
relating to or using signals or information represented by a continuously variable physical quantity such as spatial position, voltage, etc.
"analogue signals"
(of a clock or watch) showing the time by means of hands or a pointer rather than displayed digits.
not involving or relating to the use of computer technology, as a contrast to a digital counterpart.
"old-school analogue paper map skills"
theoretically they can be better but currently there no
no
Did you try all of them or what?
i idnd't
Then how do you know?
im also pretty sure they have a worse feel and longgevity
How are you so sure about that?
Btw optical gaterons are rated for twice the amount of key strokes
well they feel worse
im certain about that
That's pretty much up to taste, probably, tho
And I NEED analog switches for this application
Otherwise variable force isn't really doable in a way that makes sense
Btw, what layout has a better market for custom builds: 60% or 65%?
Probably 60%, because all the keys have standard length, right?
You can only use them with their own boards, right?
60% by far
im pretty sure
hm alright thx
Are there any good 60% cases which also have bluetooth?
Because I would really like to have a wireless one
No it's 75%
wdym?
Nvm
The thing is that I already have a 75%
Do you find 6 key rollover limiting in any way?
When do you press 6 keys at the exact same time on a keyboard ?
In DAWs for example
Don't know what daws is
Digital Audio Workstation
I don’t use it anymore
Well that's about the answer to your question I guess
The 4KO of my laptop keyboard limited me
How so?
When I used it as a note input device
If you don't use the only thing that had more than 6key press at the exact same time on a keyboard then I guess 6key rollover is enough
No I don’t use anything under NKRO
That’s what I meant
Why are there no custom keyboard cases with wireless capabilities?
And does the GMMK Pro really sound bad?

Thx for the link, does appear to have issues tho
*typo
Did see some comments on them, but on the pre-built versions. These are barebones. Case ,PCB and stabs. Would get new stabs for sure, but the rest is up to your choice of switches and caps.
It’s made out of plastic, right? Is that an issue?
Would it sound better if it was made out aluminium?
depends on what you value
aluminum is more durable and more premium but acrylic is better for rgb and thocc
Uh.. nice name
thanks its supposed to be invisible on pc, mac or linux
Seems ios has defeated it
no its not supposed to be invisible on mobile
11. Non-alphanumeric usernames (including 'blank usernames') generally aren't allowed here, and will likely be replaced by our moderation team.
i would change it
Same for android
Thx
Why better for RGB?
Shine through the case
ok mods change my name
I like the sound of plastic better but it's preference
But not all plastic boards are transparent
I got my switches
https://en.akkogear.com/product/akko-cs-sponge-switch-45pcs/
Will try those this week end
i said acrylic
That case isn't out of acrylic, right?
yeah
But why do you bring it up, then
idk im stupid
no worries
@unkempt dome Hope they feel and sound as good as they look 😎
@quasi wasp my case is made of 3 acrylic layers. Synthetic materials do produce a more thoccy sound then metal cases unless it's an hollow case without sound dempener materials to fill the void.
Are Cherry keyboards any good?
which
i thought they only sold switches
Thoughts on Apex Pro TKL and G915 TLK? I’m looking for a new TLK keyboard
What are your expectations from a keyboard. Generic Plug and play or you want to be able to upgrade your keyboard over time ?
I’ve had my current keyboard for 2 years and I’m looking for a upgrade, looking to get something nice 100-200 USD range that will last line
For schoolwork/gaming
I’m thinking about maybe a custom keyboard but I’m not sure where to start
Also frames like this
Low-profile?
Yeah, I’m not sure what’s it’s called but I prefer it
Yeah low-profile bezel
whats the difference between 205g2 and 205g0
Viscosity
205g2 is thicker than 205g0
Its fine
You have to be precise with the amount you applied
Gateron yellow vs black?
Weighting preference, gat yellow is lighter than gat black
How much
Like 1/3 the price lmao
Weird.
Where are you buying from?
Germany
Your gateron black vendor is cheaper than this?
whats the best way to lube a switch
i tried lubing a broken one but it still sounded scratchy
nvm i used the wrong one
HOLY SHI- IT SOUNDS GOOD
😋
Only a bit
Compared to that offer
Is that with VAT?
BTW is it a Fire hazard to foam mod Bluetooth keyboards?
no (ok kinda yes)
i mean theres like a 0.2% chance it will happen but eh
unless if it is from wish
0.2% is a considerable risk
Is it really that high?
otherwise yea as long as you dont frick up wires
idk maybe
eh im not good at math
there will be a risk
i mean you are moding stuff
bent switch pins are common believe it or not, but those are made out of the purest metal ever you could just punch them back so they look non bent
I would only get another keyboard if it was wireless
Nice
aight ima go see you when nivida makes a cpu
just dont punch a hole thru the battery you should be fine
Lmao
Huh?
mb
nvidia cpus ?
Yeah
for ai or smth idk but like a cpu cpu like amd intel kind
So I can’t have nice things
work for it
How?
lube 104 switch
☹️
Wdym?
But the foam?
make it sound good and smooth
foam yes it will effect it
but adding foam doesnt make a razer green turn into black inks
But not worth my house burning to the ground
Oh wow those are cheaper than gateron blacks
dude just idk anything about how battery kaboom man just dont take my word in explosives
all i can say is this
Are black inks your favorites?
yup
Why? I don’t know too many switches
you are going in the rabbit hole rn
this is my warning
(it cost a kidney)
anyways yes blackinks good smooth
Oh dear
Nice
More so than gateron yellows?
Because black inks are much cheaper here
since when is blakc inks cheaper
what
i mean switches are kinda a me thing
you might like yellows more
but since inks are cheaper then yea go for it
Oh no wait it’s cheaper because it’s on banggood
I never bought from there
The prices are extremely sus to me
I would probably go for gateron blacks because these are included in a GK61XS
They’re super expensive in Germany somehow
man u in germany? (brain not work)
Yup
health care must be good there
i mean 50000 dollars for a half broken pinkie or 80 ping
just dont go to deep down the rabit hole and get 8 keyboards
Yeah I don’t even know if I’m gonna get a second one
Actually content already with the one I currently have
Although most people here would probably hate it
(Unmodded AKKO 3084 9009 wired with Cherry MX blue switches)
Maybe you could call my mask thing a mod tho
Nice
"edra"
1 is from mitsumi
super old
usues a ps2 connecto
but me like pressing on keyboard that belongs to an office that is older than me
Noice
Hyper x keyboards are pretty good
no they just sell overpriced gamer stuff
Idk I like them
Overpriced? Sure. But they are pretty solid, I could wack someone in the head and it'll be fine
bruh dude u cound smack a plastic keyboard on a head and it will be fine
Hi, i am very new to the keyboard scene and i don't know which keyboards is good for me. I want to know if there's any keyboards that's satisfying to type in and gaming, no weird sound and good stabilitization.
Apex Pro TKL
if you like Linears
best bet is to go custom
or you can buy topre
idk if its good but i heard many people say its good
also are cherry mx clears any good?
God tier linear but unlike the Wooting it's actually available?
overpriced gamer keybaord
I don't think so, the switches are very good
Just needs some modding
they're Hall Effect switches, and I'm very sure it's all of them
bruh u can buy a cheap $55 barebones keyboard and get some lube some swiches
it's all of them
lubed switches aren't as good as hall effect though
It's like comparing a ferrari to a mustang
and not like mustang the car
mustang the horse
its like 200 bucks??
$150 dollars for a tkl that doesnt even sound thocky
So thock = 100% good?
do you like linear? if yes then Wooting or Apex Pro. No? Then go like custom
it sound really really good
or if you don't have money get one of those Akko prebuilt keyboards
I'd say no
maybe compared to like lubed higher end linears
that's like 150$ for just the switches
18 cents per piece
- 87
optical switches just dont feel that good compared to a well-lubed high end mechanical switch
Hall Effect aren't excactly opticals
they're different
analog opticals?
Yeah I put the numbers in my calculator wrong @hasty saffron
15 dollar switch testers only contain like 6 switches
ngl idk why people like care alot about keyboard sound. As long as the stabs don't rattle and the switches don't make ping sounds you ain't hearing yourself type with like a good pair of IEMs or Headphones
Wooting is built very well
what idea?????
I have decided, i just want a keyboard that is stable and won't do anything weird. (And keyboards that is not from "Yeah but does your spacebar sound this bad")
ok and there are about 40 different switches in each catagory
and it's not membrane
Tecware Phantom @rancid sun
AND it has good registeration
can each feels slightly differnet
non-dustproof Outemu, lubed stabs, like actually lubed stabs
good enough beginner keyb
@rancid sun ok tell me ur buget first
for like 50$
Tecware Phantom is best option for beginners
you can even put like AKKO CS in it
since it's Outemu hot swap
ok then what spring does the person like
I mean it's 49$ it wins by default at the price
and then the lube
Alright, since my budget is unlimited (This pc and kb combo is my reward for graduating), i'd say 200 dollars max.
How much is a polycarb kit
What can you get at taobao at like 49$ with Gaterons and lubed stabs?
yeah
My akko 3084 came with pre lubed stabs
What are the effects of a gasket mount?
Hm
I feel like the same people would find it to be bad if it only was a thing on cheap boards
So some people?
pre lubed stabs suck
Why?
they just worse then lubing them urself
Doesn’t mean they suck
Often times people say with certain keyboards that you won’t have to lube the stabs again
Why do people like coiled cables so much? I don't really see the point of the coil tbh
flexing
bragging rights
a coiled cable can cost upwards of 69 dollars
Coiled cables are only there for aesthetics
Completely useless
The coil won't even hold its shape if you stretch it
I see thx
astonishing
Btw who thought that it would be a good idea to put play dough into your keycaps and kayboard?
Have fun with the crumbs all over your board in 3 weeks
But why? The rest of the cable is an uncoiled cable
And how do those keyboards shown in sound test videos sound in real life?
But why the coil, then
Hm
I mean it makes sense that having a weight there would help
Doesn't have to be a coil, tho
hm alright thx for the info
Well i put the akko sponge and now there's two stabilized key that have a tendency to sick down ... I'll have to check that out this week end and see if some relubing of the stabs can fix it ... maybe it's just some tolerances of the keycaps that is messed up, will also try with another keycap set
I can tell that those have barely no key wobble and that might be the cause of the problem specially since the switches has a box around the stem ... it's probably the stem getting stuck slightly on the housing of the switch ... well I'll have to investigate about that when I have time
As for the switches themselves the tactile bump is really strong ... can't really feel the second bump as what it is cause it's so small ... it feels more like a plateau than a second bump ...
Then again I haven't use them long enough to form a good opinion on them yet
U4t bobas dourlock v2 mixxed with cherry stabs holee modded gmk red samurai keycaps boring old usb c cable
That looks great
where can i find good keyboard PCB's?
What would you think about a deskmat which exactly matches the size of your keyboard layout and has got a sizeable battery and bluetooth transceiver inside of it?
So that you can make any keeb wireless
Here
Most people get deskmats because they look cool and they make you keyboard "thockier". So if there is a battery inside of it, it would make the sound uneven and weird.
Only in the middle, NOT under the feet
That shouldn't make any difference
Maybe not that much I geuss
And most deskmats you can roll up and take them anywhere (even 900 x 400 x 4)
And how would you make the keyboard connect to the bluetooth thing if its wired only.
That you could definitely not here
A nifty port on the top of the mat, embedded inside of it
Would need its own cable so that the space suffices
RGB keyboards with really beefy LEDs might be an issue, tho
Because 5W is a considerable power draw
For the battery
I don't care much for wireless keyboard specially on a desktop
Maybe others do
It looks cleaner
And it’s handy if you haven’t got much space
But how does the keyboard connect to it.
With a cable?
Oh
Yeah
Here
I dont like the idea of the deskmat because it seems annoying to bring with your keyboard
Where do you bring it?
Heres just a question
What would you be using the keyboard on that needs to be wireless?
Like maybe a phone or ipad
Like you could just use the keyboard on the screen.
And if your willing to make these I would be happy to invest!
Wdym?
Why do you need wireless so badly?
Yes but why would you need it if your on pc and already have a deskmat and fine with using a cable?
Not everyone needs this
I only see it being usefull on phone or somone elses computer
Not everyone needs to need this
ok
But some might want it idk
Also for switching the device
Could also have versions with integrated wrist rests
I'm considering getting the Redragon K589 to replace my current keyboard. It has hot swapable low profile Outemu switches. If I de-solder the low profile cherry switches from my old keyboard, will I be able to transplant them to the new one?
WAIT
DID YOU BUY IT YET?
Not yet.... Why?
I don't speak for the others, I only say that I see no interest in such thing
I saw one review that said the linear switches felt a little heavy or stiff. If that's the case, then yes.
No you will have to desolder the outemu hotswap socket too
Bummer... good to know.
You can fit other outemu switches, akko switches and boba switches as far as I know
Currently using the LP cherry mx speed switches on the K70 LP MK2 (the layout is non-standard and the keycap stems are prone to breaking). What would you recommend that would be similar?
So if you get it do you want to upgrade it?
Just a yes or no
Probably. Only if the actuation force too stiff.
OK if its too stiff what will you do to change it?
Replace them...
Ok
the hotswap sockets dont work with
every switch
you can only use otomu switches
Mr @valid sigil
Do you need the full size?
Yes, I do a lot of CAD and spreadsheet work.
Oh...
Why are you looking at this keyboard in particular?
Here I'll make it easyier.
1 your a gamer and spreadsheet worker.
2 you want a mechanical budget full size keyboard.
3 you are 2 and 1
what are the difference feeling wise in outemu reds and gateron reds?
like, do they feel mostly the same?
I'm thinking of getting the RK855, the tm680 I bought was broken but I did get a full refund
anyone know anything about glorious lynxes?
Ok
outmu reds might be mushyer and more scracthy
@chrome raft gateron reds have a lower actuation force so they will be more "GaMeRy"
😉
I'm trying to gather as much information as possible, could you please help me out?
last last time I bought a hot swap keyboard
I bought it because it was the only hotswap in a physical store near me
and it bit me in my behind
the switches are really hard to pull out
and once I did pull it out, I discovered the pcb is outemu only
I only had gaterons at hand
any keyboard recommendation to avoid my mistake? budget of 55-79USD, I like 65%-80% keyboard, hot swap capability, ability to remove pcb from case, and gateron pcb is deeply preferable, I live in southeast asia
Anyone know a good custom keyboard website that builds it for you?
Are all switches the same swap-wise, I have a outemu keyboard and wanted to swap them out for cherrymx switches, will they physically fit?
Get akko switches or boba switches
Varmilo
No they are not
Cherry won't fit outemu hotswap socket
Get akko or boba switches to fit in the outemu hotswap socket
I decided I shall get the tecware b68, there's one available in my city so I don't have to worry about shipping, thanks anyway
im gonna get akko pinks for my k552
oh hey
long time no chat
yea
hello there
i now have nitro
anyone know anything about glorious lynxes?
Thx for the feedback
B68 is universal hot swap
any personal thoughts on it?
5 pin universal
It's just a GK68 but cheaper
nothing wrong with it
Personally I like the Tecware Phantom Elite
but up to you, if you like 68 keys over say TKL then yeah it's great
Will this work with the 5 pin?
Yes
does lubing switches reduce case ping
The case ping would probably sound different because the input signal is different
What the hell are you saying
If the wave which is reverberated is different the reverberation will sound different too
What differentiates a bad stab from a good stab?
I would say mainly how rattle it is before and after modding.
Next time just say it'll sound different, making things complicated doesn't make you look smart.
Yes
hello
does anyone have a razer keyboard?
bcs mine , after i lock windows and unlock it after a couple of minutes the lightning is stuck and razer synapse no longer shows the keyboard, but it still works. And to make the lightning work again , i have to unplug then plug again. This problem does not always happen.
yooo imma need to check that out
they charge 40 euro to put some switches into hotswap sockets and screw in the pcb
its so easy to diy now, you dont even need to buy a soldering iron nowadays
?
what makes a stab good is if it comes preclipped and if the wire is balanced properly
If you do only explain things to make yourself look smart, speak for yourself
all stabilisers when tuned enough will not rattle
and when do I do that?
should i buy gateron tellows over akko rose reds, and how much the shipping costs from akko's website?(i live in israel)
ok what about shipping
helpful
you want people to hand everything to you on a golden platter or something?
and how would we know????
LOL 👌
you don't know how to check for shipping to your country so you need us to feed it to you?
We can't really tell you.
Depends on the courier, your location, the state of the shipping environment right now, etc.
Honestly it's just easier to see the shipping price by entering the shop's checkout page and looking up shipping there.
stop you're blowing his mind rn
lol
dumbass look at this
and thats our problem?
If they don't ship to Israel maybe try aliexpress
if they cant ship to you then they can't
or Just get a HyperX Origins at that point
better than stock gat yellows
Well then we can't tell you what shipping will cost. You will have to find a shop who can ship to you.
im on amazon, but yellows are cheaper so im picking those
kk
Hey so this is keyboard connected but I noticed that because I have fairly large hands I use my left hand for the VAST majority of letters on my keyboard while my right hand is only responsible for jklmniop
Do you guys know of any platform or something for practicing "proper" typing?
You kinda implied that I did that, that was uncalled for
but you did?

thanks it reduced mine lmao
Glad to hear that!
Why do you think that? Because that would be the reason if you did it?
Damn it's like you could've said "lubing the springs while probably make it sound different" instead of "The case ping would probably sound different because the input signal is different"
Because its the simplest method of articulating your opinion?
I should be asking you this question
Everyone can see you're being a poser but you keep going
Ok
I‘m just gonna ignore your comments regarding this matter, this is absolutely ridiculous @boreal rivet
Do what you want, I really don't care 🤷♂️.
Guess I found the drama queen of this server
Yup
please shut up
no offence
I can put hyperx pudding keycaps on a coolermaster mk750 right
Yes you can
I have those keycaps but a different keyboard, They should be able to fit
I don't know, but you can check keycaps compatibility by the type of the keycap mount.
