I’m visiting my friend soon, he has a few of them, I’ll get to try one then
Nice
Honestly, the availability of such keyboards in ISO-DE is just ... well, it isn't.
It just isn't.
At least one of his beamsprings is German
Yeah
I am mainly typing on that board and gaming
So the usability of it ... I dunno
You're just in for the looks and the feeling
It’s fun to collect
I missed lots of the earlier consoles so now I’m going back through them
I went ps1, wii, ds lite, wii u, ps4, switch
Iirc
With pc maybe around same time as wii u?
I went PC, SNES, PS2, NDS/3DS, Wii, PC
Playing Goof Troop with my dad
One of the more rare memories of him lol
But holy heck have games gone up in price in 2020
Spent 150€ on Fire Emblem 7 ...
Not playing much either, mainly just Cities Skylines, Civ6, and such
Some Minecraft in between
Soon I’ll play gameboy games
Have dmg pocket and advance with my friend waiting to ship to U.K.
I lost my pokemon blue cartridge :C
guys if i buy this keyboard(https://www.jarir.com/sa-en/redragon-kg30-krs-deimos-keyboard-mouse-combo-563862.html) can i turn it into something that sounds like the tfue keyboard
Buy Redragon RGB Wireless (2.4 GHz RF)/Wired for Devices with Windows/MacOS Black Video Games PC Gaming PC Gaming Keyboards at Jarir Bookstore for best offers and price in Dammam, Riyadh, Jeddah Saudi Arabia KSA. Compare features, specifications to shop
you can get something similar to a tfue keyboard for a small fraction of the price of the tfue keyboard
seen the Saturn 60?
Well it's plastic instead of metal and the switches aren't swappable without desoldering, so you're basically going to have to replace the entire board if you want to get anywhere close to the Tfue Keycult's sound signature.
yes you can
it'll be 85% there with proper switches and mods
keycult is just overpriced bs with forced exclusivity
Dont like it at all
I mean I want og cherry boards with the same housing as the g80-2000
I think that housing is much cooler than the later 2100s
i like it
so basically you're going to replace the entire board
better than paying 3k for clout LOL
Yep
maybe stop gate keeping what people spend there cash on
I want to prevent people from making stupid purchases
plus tfue is pretty wealth
and a keycult is one of them
nice 🔨
u will probably like this https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/q0r270/tonight_im_gonna_type_like_its_1969/
Just saying though, dude's not gonna get close otherwise lmao ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
He asked if he could turn it into something that could sound like the tfue board and I gave him his answer 🤷♂️
yeah, i've got the mint one
i got it off mechmarket, full mint
gonna try and cop a second one when extras drop
yeah to flip right lul
and you'll be rotating them in and out?
whats wrong with having multiple keyboards
nothing wrong with having multiple keyboards
having multiple keyboards for one setup is the dumb part
¯_(ツ)_/¯
this is why people say they can't find endgame
because they can't settle
always need the fotm
this is a dumb statement
whatever you say 🙂
I like to change keyboard from time to time ... different look and feel
Based
They'll understand once they've spent enough time in the hobby 🙏
I have more than 1 per setup but I know it’s dumb
yeah its fine if you admit it but some people just try and cope too hard
My only reasoning for getting 2x ansi 5k is it’s my fav board and would be cool to have 2
0 practical reason to having 2
they're in good condition?
Ye
damn nice, those are sick
split macropad
ISO 5k was my first ever cherry board and i fell in love w it since then
I wish my 3700 had full remapping, would make an actually good macropad
weren't you making a custom pcb for that?
brick it again
Lmao
The mini we bricked wasn’t in use so it’s not a huge issue
Will be annoying if I brick my N, I usually daily that board
good luck with it I guess
Should I film gateron reds?
do you think they're wobbly?
I don't have them yet
I was wondering if I should get switch films with my switches since they take a month to arrive
ok lmao thanks
should I get gateron blacks or reds?
Gateron blacks have a heavier spring weight, making them firmer when pushed.
It's mostly a preference thing.
example
Sound-wise, maybe.
Looks wise, absolutely not unless you put in a ton of work.
Gotta learn to anodize your metal or take it to someone who can do it for you.
That's besides the rest of the board.
is the deathadder a good mouse
i have the g305 atm
or should i get the Logitech G502 HERO
Do you play any fast-paced games?
G502 is great for an all-around mouse because it effectively has 19 buttons with G-Shift.
If you play competitive Valorant, though, it's pretty heavy; even the Swiftpoint Z is 5g lighter.
but why is the wireless version 2x the price for the regular one
Because it's also lighter.
bruh cos its wireless
okay so what is a light mouse
Like the Glorious Model O/O-/D/D-, G Pro/G Pro Superlight, Viper Ultimate Mini, etc.
There's a whole bunch of them at a whole host of prices.
is the rival 3 a good wireless mouse
is it small?
i love my Glorious Model O 😛
this one
i had the logitech g502 hero (se white version) and i loved it, now i use the g502 lightspeed; that said its a heavy mouse
I also loved my G502 SE when I had it for several months. Practical and comfortable.
the se is just so cool
glorious is the best choice
I don't love mine
newer and lighter
o
also depends on the kind of game you play, in fps games a lighter mouse could be better
only thing i dont like about it is that it only has 2 buttons
i mean side buttons
Steelseries, absolute trash
i agree
not worth the price premium
You can still use any mice for competitive FPS play but you're better off with a lighter mouse if you don't mind sacrificing buttons.
a lighter mouse is only better if you play on low sense
Get a razer orochi v2 instead @naive iris if you fingertip/claw
My G83-6000 just arrived. x)
Do you think katar pro/xt is fit for palm grip
for palm grip Deathadder/Zowie EC are best
Deathadder comes in wireless btw
And in cheap plastic.
bro zowie is $75 but
katar pro xt $28
katar pro $17
Razer makes good mice now
then if they're that cheap go get the Katar
Their shell is alright and the internals. But their software is horrible and the plastic feels cheap.
But the shell depends on the users grip.
I mean like among mainstream brands they beat everyone except Logitech and ZOWIE at this point
But they got a lot of people covered with the different skus
My old mice is dead now. Katar pro non xt is so cheap but idk can i use palm grip
just get a Viper Mini
and like learn how to claw/fingertip
they seem similar size
@fiery vale like Steelseries, Glorious, CoolerMaster, Corsair are all quite significantly worse than Razer
Razers software puts them below all of those in my book. But that's just my bias.
Have you tried CM's software?
Razer Synapse is bad but it's not iCue/Armoury Crate bad
Also garbage, but at least I didn't have to create an account to use it 😄
Tbh with Razer mice, just create burner account, set profile, then immediately uninstall
What about Razer Deathadder Essential it's around $20
Like that's convenient lol
You only need to set the Profile once
It's good too but Viper Mini is quite a bit better
I rather boycott the company than to deal with that shit.
Idk Deathadder might more fit to me
kk then go get the Deathadder Essential
If they continue listening to the consumers, then they may win me back. The Huntsman was impressive.
just try to get aftermarket feet
this
Razer has been doing alot of good work recently
wdym
in making mice more affordable
Eh, not everyone needs a 5g mouse.
Razer Orochi and Viper Mini are deffo some of the best readily available entry level mice
especially the Orochi
V2
a very good Fingertip mouse
In Germany, it's 66€ lmao
Do you know Trust Gxt Kusan 180 ?
The superlight is hot garbage in terms of price to performance
Is it good ?
It's like 1/3rd the price
Well yeah diminishing returns but it's still the best mouse on the market rn even though you can get something that's like 95% as good for like 1/3rd the price
I mean
G305 for 30 bucks
That's a steal considering it's "just" 3 times the price of a bog-standard office mouse
I dislike the G305's battery implementation
The Orochi v2 did it better
even modding the G305 makes it a bit eh with a lithium AAA
The shell is hot garbage, should've made some clip thingy on the bottom
But otherwise, it's a very solid mouse
for budget tbh, I still prefer Viper Mini + Bungee
35 bucks + bungee
Viper mini is like 20
Depends on region probably or time of year
Shit, the G305 also went up in price to 37€
Even in mousepads the Strider is the best consumer mousepad among all the top brands
one of the best Hien clones
and it's not 60$
like the Hien
I have no clue about mousepads
Do you use a GSR?
As long as it doesn't fuck up my desk, it's aight for me
Though I'd still prefer an Odin Gaming
I prefer mousepads that I can wash and aren't sensitive to humidity
Have you ever cleaned it?
Yeah
oh wait a hard pad?
yes
^
I hope you got 2 sets
1 set
well you can always order more
Exactly
I hate plastic mousepads
Not gonna buy another one.
I prefer mousepads from brands like Endgame Gear or Odin gaming tbh
MPC450 is great and so is the infinity
They are great at first, really slippy. But once you use them for around 1.5 years, they just get used up.
yup they wear down
My brother's EG MPC hasn't been washed in one year and it's still great
The corepads helped a lot but in the center it still is less slippery
Way less slippery
Try a Endgame Gear MPC or Odin Infinity or Razer Strider if you want a mousepad that will last a super long time @fiery vale
My tryhard shooter days are over anyway, so I will just get some cheapo cloth one
The problem with cheapo cloth is that they gunk up
you buy them so you don't have to bring out the sponge and detergent as often
I don't mind that
well then yeah go get like a GSR or G840 or something
30 bucks
I spent that much for my cloth Odin and it's gonna last a few years
compared to like cheapo 10$ mouse pads that you throw out every year
Why would I throw them away?
they wear out
well you don't have to throw them away
they make great floor protectors
I cut them up into four then put them under desks
That's what I did to my Taito after it got worn out
The only reason I threw away my mouse mat was because I really wasn't nice to it
aka
building things on it
glue and shit being dropped on it
and stuff
But other than that, that mat held up for years
Xiaomi is selling mousepads lol
anyone know why the logitech g512 carbon has a tripod mount on the top
wdym by tripod?
a screw mount like a tripod/camera/microphone would use
weird
where its located?
nvm, i know what it is
it was supposed to be the mount for a now cancelled device
u could probably 3d print a camera mount or a phone mount
I haven't used XBOX 360 controller do you think is it comfortable ? I am looking for cheap gamepad for my PC. I just want to handle, I don't have expectation.
I found around $15-20 but trademark is Rampage.
https://www.amazon.com.tr/dp/B079JPVQXR/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_56WCXA7SGD1KXCKMVCTF
Linus: imma pretend I didn't see that
Yeah, that mousepad is just way to overpriced for me.
I bought a $12 mouse pad
Mine was around 15 bucks. Sometimes you just don't have to spend so much money on something. The LTT deskmat is something else, that's kinda merchandise.
You have a free mousepad lol
And my $12 mouse pad
I had one before that one
But yes the free one is superior
Yeah i do
Let me just get a mousepad that is as expensive as my system memory lmao
[i want a mechanical keyboard: good rbg, use is gaming, typing , never used mech keyboards before]
does anyone know when mp thickthock springs will be back in stock?
Can someone recommend me a good mechanical keyboard please? I've used razer blackwidows this whole time. Wondering if there's something that's smoother, easier to clean, and quieter. I prefer wired keyboards with a USB if possible.
budget?
Something around the huntsman elites price, since that's what I'm looking at.
Are razer wrist rests good?
sometime this month i think
A wrist rest is good if you find them comfortable. No one can tell for you, unfortunately.
I have been using the razer wrist rests and its awesome!
i use a literal slab of marble as my wrist wrest
lmao
whatever works :)
is the razer huntsman a good keyboard? And what are the differences in the color switches?
the tkl version?
idk what that is, so if you could explain it sure
https://www.razer.com/gaming-keyboards/razer-huntsman-v2
you mean this one?
yeah but when I look on best buy there are a ton of different itterations
so the elite and the v2 non analog are basically the same thing
with the analog version comes with switches that has analog capabilities
but the price is eye watering, even for contactless switches
i would recommend the wooting two instead
I personally don't like how the Huntsman sounds, but if there are any features it has that you like, go for it.
im watching a video rn
the only keyboards ive had are razer black widows so yeah I dont mind the sound but I wouldnt mind it being more quiet too
all of em tbh
at least at 167 it would beat the wooting two he
The Wooting two HE delivers on the fastest possible input without fail by leveraging analog input technology and years of experience. Each key on the Wooting two HE supports analog input, allowing per key adjustable actuation point from 0.1 to 4.0mm and unique features that opens new ways for keyboards to interact in games. Everything is custom...
which is fine imo
since you can load in your switch profile for once and then delelte the razer bloatware
yeah honestly I have almost all razer equipment but I never download their software, it just sucks
so i watched a video and the sound is pretty similar to a blackwidow so its ok, but if there is a better keyboard at a lower price I would rather do that obviously XD
they also mentioned that the added benefits are pretty much useless so idk what to do now haha
I got a Apex 5 and sometimes like 90% of the time the "N" key doesn't register so I have to keep tapping it until it does, any tips on how to fix it?
Change the switch
after further testing it always works when pressed on the right side but never on the left or center unless pressed right
ye so replace switch
That would be difficult probably since its a non hotswap. I think you should complain to steel series
That's what a soldering iron is for 🤔
people in the hobby have it too easy these days
anyone have akko wob in use can i see pictures ?
What is a good full sized keyboard?
Any thing withe cherry mx?
the leopold comes with cherry switches
Can you swap keys for Razer TKL keyboards?
Damn
That hard flex
Still going with an old keyboard
Very budget friendly :)
ballpark on the price for a qood quality gaming 60% keyboard
Keycaps
Unless it's dirt cheap
I have preference for other switches than cherry most if the time ... well ok 99% of the time ...
Im just used to cherrys
thanks
same
have you ever used anything but cherry cause thats something i said when i the only switches ive used where cherry
No i legit had a crappy laptop for like 5 years with crappy keys then i get some cherry MX's a year ago and i just dont want to switch
Yeah so you've never used a mechanical switch but cherry you don't wanna try anything else because you think everything is the same or worse then cherry
Logitech G PRO any good?
the keyboard not really
damn
Can't decide between Corsair K100 OPX or Steelseries Apex Pro
Either I get a keyboard that matches my setup or I don't
im currently looking at keycap replacements for a logitech g pro x and i already know replacing the space bar is impossible, does anyone know good replacement caps for this keyboard coz im struggling to find ones with a 1.5u ctrl key
mainly looking for a translucent pbt double shot
similar to corsair
something similar to akkos 158 key set
Follow up: I already got help and the bottom row is a mix of ansi and razer so im all good on that rip space bar replacement tho
heyy so my gf wants a mechanical keyboard so i'm thinking of buying her one so do yall got any recommendations? her previous one was a membrane razor keyboard so i wanna get her something good
Avoid gaming prebuilt... you can get way better board from other makers like Leopold, varmilo, durgod, keychron and to a certain extend ducky ...
What size do you want for her ... which switches, what color, rgb or not ... ?
Should i get this keyboard Mechanical Red Switches and Per Key RGB only for Rs.2500/- ,,,,,,,,, almost 30$
Gateron red blue or brown
whats your preference?
I’ve only used cherry blues idk
Try a sampler pack.
Can get one on Amazon.
Or just pick one.
Blues are tactile with a click jacket so they click.
Browns are tactile with no click jacket.
Reds are smooth and linear.
Should be fine for the price
My coworkers and I all built 40% keebs a few months back. One of my coworkers screwed up the USB-C connection on his. Luckily I found a spare PCB from when I made the JLCPCB order. Look how small it is compared to his YC96 lol
ye
Hello hello hello
Someone recommended this channel
I am a dev who's not a gamer
Is the DAS Keyboard 5QS any good? I have a cheap keyboard with blue switches
I tried the brown ones and they're ok
Thanks, I didn't know that one. I'll have a look!
You’re welcome!
What's everyone's opinion on the huntsman v2?
no
No?
its not worth it at all
What would you recommend that has a number pad? 🤔
tofu96 has one
mind if I DM you about this?
im looking to buy a gaming keyboard for the frirst time... right now im just using a random office one from the mid 200s. i was wondering if anybody had an reccomendations for under 50 bucks?
@lapis pecan 60%, TKL or full with numpad ?
the size doesent really matter that much to me but if possible i would want full
Let me check that
You in the states (US)
You have the choice between red linear switches (no bump), blue switches (click and bump) and Brown switches (tactiles bump)
@lapis pecan under $50 and $7.00 rebate coupon on top of that.
sure
Anyone have any idea on a good keyboard $130 or lower
Any requirements?
Nah just a good keyboard
Uhhhh
So there's plenty lol
Like
A lot.
So uh
I think you should come up with a list of things you want first.
Otherwise I might just be calling out keyboards you end up disliking.
^ I strongly believe that filco majestouch (convertible if budget allows) is the best board around that price
But it doesn’t have lots of the modern meme features that most seem interested in now
got some Oreo everglides for my stock rk61 😎
nice
whats a good kit for 200
Do you have any preferences?
Because there are a lot of options otherwise. Way too many to recommend.
Whats a good custom 75 percent keyboard around 100 usd
it doesnt have to include switches and keycaps
just the pcb and case
and its better if it's aluminum since metal gives a more premium feel and its a gift for someone
Need a mechanical keyboard in spanish layout, full size under 100$ any recommendations?
what kind of dollar
Any other requirements?
any great suggestion for a 60 keyboard?
60% or 60 $
Kemove snowfox
Kemove shadow
Gk61
Rk61
Hhkb if u want to splurge
thanks
I’d recommend used hhkb over any mx 60
dz60
there's a drop for it sometimes on massdrop but i love dz60 imo, very well priced and supports all kinds of alternate layouts
hhkb still better
good layout, better switches, light and portable and will probably last at least a decade
you can get hhkb layout in dz60, you can get whatever switch you want with dz60 and light and portable is just a matter of choosing the right case
the advantage of a custom kb like dz60 is you can change the keys significantly more
yeah and at that point you'll have spent like 200 bucks
without keycaps
might as well have just bought a hhkb
who realistically needs something more custom than a standard 60 layout lol
me
i think 2u backspace is an abomination unto god
your opinion
The point is the topre switch
anyways, hhkb if you want off the shelf and dz60 if you want slightly more options but more $$
nice
yea...hhkb isn't standared 60% either. anyways my issue was availability sadly cudn't find a good place to get hhkb here in
so i basically got dz60 and imitated hhkb lol
well the layout
missed out on the best part 😩
the switch?
It’s rly endgame board
man i must try this topre switch then
my onlly issue with hhkb was the short shift
I never use right shift so that was never a mm issue for me
ooh ok
is the topre switch that you love that much about the hhkb?
Yeah
i mean...if you like hhkb, isn't it your opinion as well
I like 2u back space and normal backspace equally
and I like the hhkb mainly because of topre switches
not the layout
aah
beyond clicky i find so far i don't really care about which switches
as long as it's mechanical and clicky
45g is kinda light for my taste ... can you change the weight of the topre ?
hhkb looks promising
the way topre rates their domes for weight is weird
I dont know how exactly it works
so 45g would be about 60g give or take and 55g like 70g
maybe more, my 55gs definitely feel heavier than the 72g vint blacks I used to have
based
Does topre feels more like linear or more like a tactile ?
@urban glade is it normal that the G80-3000 has a MX Grey on the spacebar?
yeah
tactile, but very different to mx tactiles. i hate all mx tactiles that arent mx brown, but i rly love topre
I will probably switch out the spring in that to make it lighter
Otherwise, I like it
Then topre is completely not for me
Just a tiiiiiiny bit too stiff for me but it's awesome
But I already am getting used to it after like 3 minutes
why
i know very few ppl who dislike topre lol
friends who use very strong mx tactiles love it too
Cause I really don't like mx cherry brown ... for me it's the worst tactile i ever tried ... I like heavier switches with sharpish tactile bump ...
My board is basically unused
topre is very different to brown lol
just saying i usually dislike tactiles, but i still really like topre
its incredibly comfortable
I wish there was a topre test switch
But I could only find one on Ebay
From China or something
test switches don't tell you how a full board will feel
also topre is notorious for their +-15g tolerances
ifc not, but it will give an idea as to how it feels
I need a topre switch tester the size and shape of an hhkb ... for the price of a switch tester
blasphemy
super based
go Kinetic Labs Salmon switch then @unkempt dome
If I can find them for cheap yeah for sure
@deep quarry did you cop springs? they stocked last night
Salmons have mad contact leaf crunch btw
That large rounded tactile bump ... kinda remind me of how I would describe the halo true switches ... @gilded gyro
get more custom side-printed keys
Maxkeyboards lesgo
Just put them on top

and they say keyboards can't increase your K/D
Topre bump rounded
For normal ones
There’s sharp domes u can buy too
saying you might try it will just cause you to end up getting stuck in mx FOMO, FOTM hell
not to mention topre is much much cheaper compared to mx lul
the misconception that topre is more expensive than mx belongs in 2015
anyone know anyone who can either tell me exactly what I need to buy to do my own prebuilt keyboard or know anyone who builds them for commission?
admittedly topre boards do cost more than cheapo mx oems. but cheaper than almost all customs
definitely cheaper than all customs if you pick one up used on mechmarket
tru
is topre clicky?
no
aww 😦
Well I don't have full custom ... I have gmmk
which rf are you looking at?
ansi silent 30g ivory r2
sheesh
Which is definitely less expensive than topre board
30g is a good meme
u can buy new but i dont mind used so i may as well see if i can get a bit cheaper used first
I hear it feels almost linear
i can definitely feel the tactility with mine
interesting
after using 30g hhkb i dont wanna use 45g again lol
lol
55g sweet spot for me
now to wait and see if deskeys will release a 55g clone with not garbage tolerances
🙏
tbh the main reason i want is that i could justify keeping my vandal if i had a realforce for it
vandal?
artisan
oh okay
I'll guess 300?
Oh g305
aftermarket of course
maybe 1500
you should see a therapist
i got retail 😊
nice
$100 shipped
ye i should
Well can you find me a hhkb that is not 400 $ and more canadian $
took so long to find that, i can see why u struggled ...
Hmmm didn't think about ebay
wow
if you prefer sharper tactility, older domes are generally a little bit sharper anyway
so buying used probably would be best for you lol
Japanese ebay ... that's a no go
mechmarket also exists
Don't know that place ... will check it out
But would still have liked brand new or the possibility to try it before buying
What lube do you recommend for cherry stabs?
lots of dielectric grease
i use 205g0 because i already have it, but dielectric grease works fine
or 205G0
there is some new meme lube
really
which friends say is really good
name?
idk i'm finding it
krytox xht-bdz
uk vendor but i know there are lots elsewhere too
apparently the play now is to do that on the wire and 205 on the housings
a meme thats for sure
another reason why I just went with a rf
i havent lubed any stabs on my hhkb
still more work than not

idk probably
oh ye ur in germany
fuck whats their name
theres a good vendor of keyboard modding stuff around there
they are nice
Where is the difference between the different lubes?
205g0 is thicker, i find it stays there longer
the dielectric tends to displace with use, and you may have to relube occasionally
i think you would have to with 205g0 too but it lasts a lot longer
Are we talking years difference?
hm i'd say so
i have a board i've used lots for maybe 9 months and stabs are still fine (205g0)
had a dielectric lubed board start to have stabs go bad in a matter of weeks
but ymmv
ymmv?
your mileage may vary
👌
it could just be that i am shit at lubing stabs
and the dielectric would have been fine if i wasnt
idk I just dump a metric shitton into the stabiliser
seems to work
cba to carefully apply it
mx have u seen switch pads
little gaskets you put between the switch and the pcb
....
wish i was joking
Material: PORONFunction: Could be glued to the PCB( it has glue on the back), used to buffer the force between switches and PCB, the typing sound would be modifiedVersions: 1. Hot-swap version (Both 3pins and 5pins switches can be used, RGB LED also has a hole, which would not affect the light) 2. Solder v
yeah I have
makes me cringe
I wonder what kind of other pointless "upgrades" this community will dream up
how about foam to put around every keyswitch too
😭
how long until we are leaving holes in the board ready to fill it with spray foam once assembled
they're good for ppl who are shit at building and dont know how to get the switch to actually sit in pcb properly
good for wei too
can't do that
it'll ruin the flippability of your board after you're done using it for like a week
so true!!!
i love seeing gb runners confirm to me that their "for friends only" private group buys are full of [ppl who tier 3 sub] and ppl who will hype the board and increase its flip price
is that really a thing
I swear you can go through this whole hobby by buying 3 gmk sets and flipping over and over nowadays
First I wasn't so sure about those MX blacks being so stuff, but now I am really enjoying this keyboard right now.
I see so many different types of keys...
how do I know which one is the right one for me?
are varmilo keyboards good?
varmilo are good for prebuilt ... same goes for leopold and durgod also ...
the best way decide the switches is to try them out with a switch tester but that doesn't give a feeling of full board tho
you can also get a hotswappable board and just buy a set that seems interesting and try them ... and buy another set and another set and another set ... never ending buying set of switches
I was looking at something like this: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=5147
but im used to razer keyboards and I like the way the key presses feel its just loud
that one is beautiful
what is pbt?
so your choice of switches are limited ... do you want the switch to have a tactile feeling, tactile and auditory feeling or complely non feeling from top to bottom ?
that might be a strange way to explain linear, tactile and clicky
what is a razer blackwidow chroma v2?
i got one better for you ... why is a razer blackwiddow chorma v2
lol thats what im using now
I mean I would go varmilo
ive only had blackwidows
which switche are there in it
?
razer yellow
ok those are linear from what I can see. the cherry reds are what would be the closest to those
if you want them more quiet get the silent red
are they going to feel different?
yes probably
oh this only comes in brown and blue without the silencers
reds have a longer travel
I would rather be noisy still then
unless there is a way to make it smoother I guess I am ok with it
there's also red and silent red available ...
those would be the smoothest
yes ... between all the switches choice you have
they are linear so smooth from top to bottom
browns have a really light tactile bump
blue have a tactile bump and a click jacket that intentionally make noise
blue would be the loudest and silent red the quietest
I would try them but they make the keyboard preorder?
well it's not really preorder ... it's out of stock but they will have restock so you can buy it and they will ship it when they get it ...
you could also check out on varmilo website directly ...
scale of 1-10 how good is varmilo? I am mainly getting it for the design
they are in the good ones for prebuits ...
corsair, razer, logitech and other gaming brands are usually considered from meh to really bad ...
specially cause they are bad value for the build quality
ok, cause I am in the market for a new keyboard and id rather not get another razer
what I always suggest is a hotswappable board for the convenience of being able to change the switches without having to desolder them
also do you really need a full size board ... there's smaller board that would take less spaces on the desk
I like having the number pad for when I do code and spreadsheets
Get fake XBOX 360 controller for pc is viable ? I can't find any cheap gamepad even second hand.

Actually i want to buy between $10-15 but i might pay 22 usd for f310, i am not sure.
I am looking for PC btw
@pallid trout what do you think
The market for long range wireless mouse and keyboards is sad and desolate
how long the range shoud be ?
Just finished my first build! It's awesome. And my first mech keyboard I have ever owned
little soundtest (phone microphone)
"real" microphone
#proud

I am definitely very excited!
will get a custom cable soon too... sleeved with aviator
Nice
i'm thinking of building a keyboard and was hoping to get a fullsize anyone know if i can get a fullsize barebones?
I think the GMMK comes in barebones
hmm kk
cleannnnnnnnnnnn
Doesn't keychron have a full size hotswappable board too ?
Also I'm on the waiting list for the Q2 ...
Ok
If akko put the same dedication in their board as in their switches it would be a good board for the price
I don't care about that tho
And it's most likely not a big deal for most people too
I like and mostly use xda and dsa keycaps
So yeah ... don't mind about the orientation of the switch much
Hmmm sandwich ...
Well I'm waiting for the mail for the Q2
Must be indeed ...
I'm not really to go full custom
I've changed my switches again ... from akko lavender purple to akko ocean blue
is it theoretically possible to butcher a keyboard and 60% it?
I can't let you do that dave
"Dave, stop."
membrane keyboards are ass but I can't afford a mechanical keyboard so there useful
and I'm bored in english class
What is the best wireless non 60,65% keyboard under 100 dollars for work? (RGB is not required)
No gaming btw
get a BTC borad they're supposed to feel really more premium
k
then you mean 75% or tkl ... check out keychron keyboard ... they might probably have what you seek
There is no such thing as a "gaming" keyboard BTW
he probably meant gaming brand
or gamery look
well that's how I understood it ... so no corsair, razer, logitech and such
hey logitech makes some really great normal Keyboards
i got a Ducky One2 with MX browns. Is there anyway to make my keyboard a bit quieter?
What's better? Mx browns or Mx red/silent reds for programming only?
I'm considering buying the Das Keyboard 5QS
has anyone ever tried it?
preference lol
no switch is good or bad at anything, its what u actually enjoy using
I have blue Mx and while I actually like it how "fast they come up", it's too noisy
I think the Das Keyboard only comes with Mx browns
It looks like the 5QS only has 'Gamma Zulu' switches, I would stay away and get something with kailh or cherry switches
good point
https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/glorious-gmmk-pro-75-barebone-black is a solid choice in the same price range
If there is space in the case you can shove some dampening material to catch those reverberations
actually it's a little more after adding caps and switches i didn't see that
no worries. It's a great reference anyway
Aren't those what Logitech called Romer G
this and the Q1
Both of them, with the Jelly mod (PE foam), sounds really good.
Q1 is a good choice but keep in mind it comes with ABS caps instead of PBT, I think it is well worth the money for PBT ones
So I currently have a Logitech g710+ which is a super nice keyboard, but I know it's aging. Do y'all think it'd be worth it to upgrade to possibly something newer? My friend recently got a steel series apex 3 which I thought felt pretty nice
romer g is shit and always will be
there's no such thing as switches made for a purpose ... it's a matter of preference only
Yes of course ... but it's still preference to not have tired finger when typing
I like to type on heavy switches more than on lighter ones
I use BOX heavy dark yellows for programming. I'm not a fan of lighter switches like MX reds but it's all preference
tf was i pinged for
same
uh what was that
someone spam pinged ignore

Homie, I'll kiss u
same
♥

so hows your day guys while we are all here
im literally crying over music rrn
u?
it's like happi crys
I'm slightly buzzed lmao - who disturbs me?
some stinky spam pinging people
my keyboard on the gn mouse mat
mmm nice
it was on clearance at micro center because it was missing a keycap and was a display model
Somehow I don't have a picture of my keyboard on my phone
I tried to 3d print a replacement
thats pretty good
but it kinda sucked so I put it on a key I don't use much and use the numpad delete key as my right arrow button
if you couldn't tell by my keyboard i likterally stole the macro key for my s that borked
it falls off easily
better than anythijng i could do
BROWNS?!?! me too!!!
i use phantom reds on my Q1. i like them but wanna try something else
I used this old dell keyboard I got for free for a long time and it was really great until a tube on a pump came loose while I was doing some fun liquid cooling setup and the pump sprayed water all over it
I might go through the effort of restoring it someday
ghost ping?
yessir
keeb
Does anyone else have a drevo keyboard? Am I the only one who thinks their NKRO is terrible? and I'm not even a fast typist
Key-rollover is a hard and fast metric, so the higher the better, obviously.
i noticed two notifications for this chat channel. was anyone trying to contact me or did they just (at)here?
it was a spammer manually @ ing everyone who has recently spoken in the channel i think, i assume it got deleted
that makes sense... my kingdom for a reasonable way for these scoundrels to be punished under the law...
sadly that isnt possible in a way that would be morally acceptable.
rate 1/10 i am willing to change some stuff just not the caps
i aint got any equiment just my hands and tweezers with bent tips
maybe a really old soldering kit
the stabs are plate mount so you can easily yeet it out with the tweezers
hope so cause if i break some well lets just say ima be in debt
I just use a keycap puller lol
i use a flathead
I mean they're pretty easy to remove
what do yall think about the gmmk tkl
Well I like mine ... people will probably say that it's outdated and that there's better stuff for the same price like the keychron don't remember the model ... or check out the gmmk pro or keychron Q1 and such...
I've been swapping switches in the gmmk for more than 1 year ... or is it 2 ... anyway never had a problem with it ... get durock v2 stabs tho cause the stock ones are not that good
are the stabs plug and play?
Yes easy to remove and put some other back ... they are plate mounted
3
unless they undated the pcb
but if you get 5 pins switches you can always cut the 2 plastic pins
drop boards are overpriced for what they are
so I just noticed that the akko ocean blue have some sping ping ... and it's kinda annoying ... specially in the space bar
yeah still no south-facing LEDs bruh
ah, i didn't realize that the 2 extras were plastic, thanks
i assume its just for extra stability then
I'm pretty sure most people don't care much about south facing
can someone recommend me a good wireless keyboard for -100? 60% would be nice to have
Anne Pro 2?
it's just meh
Kemove snowfox or kemove shadow
Or some keychron that I don't remember the model number but you can find them on their website
Keychron Q1 - A colleague bought it. I've heard good things
is good
I have one and i have good things to say
Imagine getting only the best parts for your keyboard only to get those generic tactile buttons https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Schurter/13019315?qs=tGaZrb6HVSaeSttQbZxh%2FA%3D%3D&mgh=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwY-LBhD6ARIsACvT72MWH-DDBA225txwo_fpwBehLUQt_ZEZjzZ-NP1J1WElA7hg_FoUkdMaAkwgEALw_wcB like this for you switches
Hey I'm wondering do you guys have any recommendation for a silent 60/65% wireless keyboard? I'm doing a lot of programming in the uni and I want to get a small wireless keyboard since the one on my laptop are not good at all
Could get a hotswap barebones board and put your own switches in.
Like Kailh Box Hushes when they release, or Kailh/Gat/Cherry silent variants.
hmm do you have any personal recommendations for bare bones? I don't have a lot of knowledge on custom keyboard
Could try a GMMK. Accessible, inexpensive, competent.
Kemove snowfox/shadow
any thoughts on tm680? is it compatible with gaterons?
I just used a thicker lube on the full length of the springs of my Ocean Blue and have no more spring ping.
yes
Are they worth the money?
Like would there be a better recommendation for that price point or is it ok enough?
I don't lube my switches for now ... might do some in the future ... also I never had that problem with akko lavender purple
I see that the lavenders have regular springs not the progressives one of the blues. Might be that ?
Yes
what would be the smallest keyboard that would probably have enough keys left over to accommodate a track point?
i thought kailh box silent switches already exist? brown and pink?
Maybe they will release another line of silent switches in the near future
Here is a review of a keyboard and one of the switch
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/kailh-box-keyboard-featuring-new-kailh-box-hush-switches/
Kailh wants to quieten things down a few notches with the all-new BOX Hush mechanical switch for keyboards and the equally new V&S switch for mice. We examine both in detail, focusing on the former courtesy the provided Kailh BOX keyboard made by Hexgears and the latter with the Hexgears M105 mouse.

K750 help
I have had a K750 for about a month and during that time the input lag has been increassingly gotten worese to use.
The typing style is amazing on this keyboard and I absoloutley love iit but the input lag makes it close to unusable. It doublles on some letters and after I type something it will magicly aper 2 secondss later
Try this https://youtu.be/GGuVfiSdlEs
When using a keyboard, if you experience a lag between your typing and the text that appears on the screen, then this guide will help you fix the problem. Since the problem can have varying reasons, any one of the solutions can work.
1] Run Keyboard troubleshooter
2] Disconnect and reconnect
3] Turn off filter keys
4] Reduce key repeat inter...
how do ik my keyboard is hotswappable
I have an magegee mk1 keyboard redswitch
The switch name is like jixian or smth
It sounds loud for a red switch
And sometimes the W and X button doesn't respond that much i have to presd it forcely
like i hold w
It registers then unregisters
It's not hotswap keyboard, the switches are soldered to the PCB on your mk1.
oh
i was suspicious abt the red switch
But i found what it's called
Jixian red switch
It's loud af
it doesn't feels like a red switch
Well how does it feels like ? Aren't they linear ?
what is the average typing speed honestly
80-100?
on Phone I usually get about 70 wpm, and PC 105-110 wpm
Average is like 40-50.
ouch, that sounds unusable
would expect at least like 65-80
unless they took the average from 50+ year olds or your average 40-50 year old mother
Not everyone is around a keyboard enough to break out of that average.
Like if you're not a regular in this channel then chances are you're well within the average.
Or you just don't pay attention to custom keyboards. But you get the idea. Construction workers and athletes are probably in that 40 WPM average, for instance.
I would expect it to be higher because of how many jobs require a laptop
It's probably a little higher now with everyone working from home but a lot of jobs still don't require the use of a keyboard.
I don't even own a mechanical keyboard, (though I did order custom in july)
40-50wpm sounds weird to me, since I get nearly double the lower end on phone (73-78 wpm)
I know my father is around the 70-90 on PC, because of his job
mother around 25-35, and grandparents 30-40
I mean, 50 wpm doesn't sound that bad when you call it "just over a second per word" but...
I don't even type with 10 fingers
6 for typing, 2 for shift and space bar
5 on left hand, 3 on right hand
And?
Some people just don't type at all.
Or they only type whenever necessary, which may not be that often.
Most people who are in this hobby are very much above average by a lot.
I honestly wonder how the average is measured
age range specifically (and type of words, languages, etc, type tests aren't really fair as they are regularly random shorter words, some languages would obviously be slower)
because I feel like it is more so accurate with 30-50 years old, who didn't grow up with computers as much/at all
ofc, looks at the people with 180-220 wpm scores
to me 60+ is already fast enough tho
why do a lot of FN pros use the Apex Pro?
They’re probably sponsored by it, or they looked up “best gaming keyboard” and now they use that
Oh ok that actually makes sense, I didn’t see anything in it justifying the $180-$200 USD price tag on it
I mean it does have the omnipoint switches which are cool
Varmilo MA87M Koi White LED TKL Dye Sub PBT Mechanical Keyboard
Thoughts?
Can I use hockey tape instead of masking tape for the tape mod?
Nothing wrong with trying.
I'm guessing masking tape has a particular density and weight to them which makes them ideal, but you're free to experiment.
🙂
