I use a thumb trackball so i guess we are both weird
Wdym? Its a perfectly normal mousepad
Setup
I’ve considered getting one of these too
They’re pretty nice, used it for a few years now
How old is that numpad
1995 iirc
I forget date code
It gives me ps/2 hotswap
Without use of an adapter
You reprogram the numpad using the keyboard plugged into the passthrough port
Wow thats neat
That TKL is a kustom board from 2011 which is PS/2 only, so something like that or a converter is needed for it anyway
They’re fun
I can justify the cost as I’m not that interested in collecting. I have this one and I’m happy
Cheaper than having 3 or 4 mid range customs 😄
This is mine at the moment. Its gonna be replaced soon hopefully but i like it. Its a Cooler Master CK-530
Shrug
It depends on your preference
A kustom is not automatically “better”
The history is a cool part for me (and the hype for lots of people)
This board is pretty much perfectly designed for my preferences so, for me, it is worth it. But I don’t think it makes sense for most
kustoms are cool but only when its an actual (korean)ustom
nice
Was designed for mx tactiles - I have poly half plate and vintage browns, very flexy and sounds great
yea I know what it is
Moreso for the benefit of @hasty saffron who’s asking about this stuff
still waiting for the day the kingsaver is rerun
I don’t follow that close anymore but afaik geon’s frog is amazing for the price
you shouldn't
One day
What do u have then ..?
the frog looks nice yes
rf 87u 55g
waiting for dean from deskeys to finish his stabilizer sliders
I’ve been satisfied enough with stock caps on my hhkb
@urban glade i have no enginering backround
gasket mount so flexyyy
i want to use genuine model F switches
you should've bought into the model f repro then
I won’t be able to help you there sorry 😢
whats that
eh. if i can customize everything about a model F i like ill do that
i like the layout for the most part
literally no one cares if your mx linear no.169 is more thocky than mx linear no.133
I built a utd for a friend early this year and wasn’t too impressed tbh, quality of the brass was awful, and the grade of aluminium used for the plate resulted in awful sound imo
if you want thock and great tactility, why don't you buy topre and silence it?
oh wait then you won't have clout

is mrpetrov still in the game?
i remember when he first started
and the day he showed kb kustoms his stupid cabinet
I think i saw him in top clack server occasionally. I’ve left most places now
Mostly been in artisans for the last while but even that’s gotten quite boring
Hype chasing doesn’t stay fun for long when u get it and realise ur bored by the end of the week
mhmm, this whole hobby started because people wanted a nice feeling keyboard to use
Yeah I’ve been getting into other stuff, mostly audio
and then the rest is history
Got a decent enough stax setup so getting some nicer iems next and then shrug
should try some zmf
It’s 3:30am so I could be wrong but I like much lighter headphones and iirc zmf cans are quite heavy
Even the stax sigmas are very light
keyboards is now audio tech
but yes i am also in both hobbies
I’ll always be somewhat attached to keyboards, it was the first hobby I truly immersed myself in the community of and explored many aspects of
But the community now makes it difficult for me to stay around and enjoy it
same here
you would expect after almost 5 years people would get tired of flipping
and chasing after clout
I’m in a couple smaller servers with the closer friends I actually enjoy being around and I think I’m happy just forgetting the rest of it
I got fc dl I was bored of it in like 2 days lol
Is there a company that makes low profile keycaps that fit Corsair's non-standard bottom row? The stock key caps are very cheaply made....
fc dl?
oh, never bothered with artisans
what with the artificial scarcity and all

Lmao
I joined start of 2019
Wasted time on nothing of any real substance then just rushed each aspect I found interesting till I was bored
I just hate modern trends soo much
Shoving as much foam as possible inside the board
the idb60 which i got from pngu's private buy is now worth like 300?
probably more
yea the foam thing is kinda ehh
oh he did a r2?
i remember being able to push the pcb enough to the point where the pins could touch the case
main reason I sold it
I could do the same if I tried really hard but would never go close to that in use
now its apparently under the friend's bed
ronny
Ah I don’t know them
yea hes one of the ogs that kind of just left
I sold my idb at cost to a friend who was quite new in the hobby
Now he’s trading it for a $450 board it seems lol
good for him I guess
Just means I can sell my g80-5k to somebody else without feeling guilty haha
Same for hhkb
I've asked wayne to commission a custom case for me but he hasn't gotten back to me on whether he and his friend wants to do it
I don’t personally feel topre needs custom case
But my opinion will be different anyway with needing Bluetooth on hhkb lol
I do, the tolerances on the rf case is quite bad
Ah
I can literally move the top casing around
Fair
Hhkb arrows are the most natural layered arrows I’ve used
But I still prefer physical
yea
the rf also has a numpad layer
which is nice for when i need it every 2 months
yea same, I've thinking of getting one
not sure if I want to go with the topre one or a mx one
thats nice, I'll probably just buy the kbdfans one idk
can't be bothered to try and find a nice 3700
And hopefully the ps/2 port will be connected to a soarers or tmk converter, giving you reprogrammable ps/2 ‘passthrough’
Fair fair
I just wanted to retain full functionality while making it usb, and figured I may as well get a couple more things added at the same time too
Would prefer a more modern design tbh but I don’t care enough to spend on an alu numpad
but it won't sound as thocky
Oh no, however will I live with my number pad not being as thocky 😱
Anyway it’s been fun talking but it’s 3:45am, I think I’m going to try and sleep
Ttyl
gn, need to go too, have an exam in 2h
Gl!!
ty
whats a nice wrist rest for a 75 percent keyboard that isnt too expensive?
keychron sells a wooden one. i use a hyperx one which is nice
Thanks
Np
How good is the latency and ghosting of the q1?
Its not wireless so very good latency. Ghosting im not sure
Thanks
im looking for a good gaming keyboard for mostly fps/shooter games, i was thinking about a Steelseries apex pro or apex 7. I can spend max like 220 euros
Hey any keyboard enthusiast there that know how i can fix my r key showing as "pr" when i type it? ping on reply pls thankssss
Sheeesh

kbd67mkII cyberdeck keycaps

rrrrrrrr
yesssss
i just finished my cable management and it fixed itself
also thanks! atleast now i knnow how to reset the keyboard
i think there was some issues with your cable....
that couldve possibly made that happen?
not sure though....
are there any good hot swappable diy boards that i can buy on amazon?
Gk61
finally finished all the keys just like I wanted. dsa granite when vim keys. I am loving this layout so much.
How come you have the arrows keys in that configuration
Vim keys
I have two- depending on which side, oddly I find I use both.
The green ones
oh ya vim keys. so fn+ h is left. cuz in vim h is left
not sure y
it's nice for arrow with right hand
Do you actually use those for vim
Audeze penrose?
Lol this is #peripherals
Orange blue switches? Huh
I know its the brand
but yes its confusing
Im saying Orange blue switches is funny
Lol
uhh guys?
where can I find keycap sets for Keychron K6?
with RGB illumaination
I can't find em anywhere
that goes with Keychron K6
or even if I do
the right key shift doesn't match
where can I find em?
I think most K6 owners use a novelty keycap of the same size for the shift key.
Custom Black Pudding Keycap Set for Keychron K6 68-key 5 extra keys ABS material OEM key profile Custom made to order Keycaps only The keyboard is not included NOTE All custom orders may require 3-5 business days to process
If you like white keycaps and want a simple yet classic look for your mechanical keyboard that is inspired from Apple, then this is the perfect Japanese Minimalist White Keycaps Set for you! Inspired by the beauty of simplicity and the apple theme, this white gaming keycaps set will show a side of
must cop
lmao etsy links
They're just dropshippers on there for Keycaps sets
my banana splits just came in 🙂
so technically what is it?
kinda new to keyboards so whats opto-mechanical
Switch that uses light sensor and a beam of light (laser, infrared) to act as the actuation mechanism.
It's under the contactless switch category.
does anyone have a link to an Australian custom keyboard company where i can design my own mechanical keyboard for ~150 AUD? or is that too low of a price?
It depends on the mount the switch use.
If it uses a cherry MX mount, which is the common keycap mount these days, there will be a lot of options.
Also, I don't think outemu make keycaps.
Man you GOAT
ye
thanks @fickle belfry
i just got my royal kludge rk100.. where can i find a legit software for this? to control the lights.
it does say in a review "Speaking of the keycaps, this keyboard uses double shot keycaps made of ABS plastic with cherry MX compatible stems." so technically i can use any keycaps
anyone have a link for a 100% size white keyboard with mx blue switches? i am australia
You are Australia
all of it
Pretty sure you can do it on the keyboard itself.
Both my brother's RK84 and his friend's RK61 operated like that.
And the software is straight trash. Don't get it.
yeah been reading the software is not rlly that good
Never got it to work on the RK84, so I just told my brother to not use it.
Hey guys, I have a Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro L keyboard and I was wondering if adding some rubber rings to the keys might help make it quieter. This is probably the mod requiring least effort on this keyboard since the keys itself are soldered on. I can get the rings on Amazon for $10 and wondering if it's gonna be worth it
i dont think its gonna worth it, as there will still be noise from the switch hitting the top housing during the return stroke, as well as the immense mushy feel bottom out added due to how thick the o rings are
hmm fair
So, did you ordered a keycaps set ?
qmx clips damp both up and down if it uses actual cherry MX switches, don't fit on most other brands switches
No, not yet! But I'll be for sure but there's a person saying to take one from Max Keyboard.
I've heard they're pretty good
& u have said so too
So, I must check it
I mean I have
But I have to talk to one of their customer support
for some reasons I can't share here
But man
u legend
that's not even an option 😦
whatcha mean?
yea, gotta order em from the manufacturuer
Yea, the taxes and shipping itself make it not worth it
is the steelseries apex pro good for fps games?
Defective designs that have excessive latency aside, a keyboard is a keyboard. Its mostly about ergonomics and what you want out of it rather than any technical advantage
its usually just that simple but... the apex pro and a few others are analog "adjustable" switches where you can choose the actuation point
so it actually can be a noticeable improvement if you're playing intense twitchy shooters at a high level, where the difference between 2mm actuation point and setting it all the way up at 0.4mm could actually give you a competitive advantage
so in other words if you're serious enough about fps games to spend $200 on a keyboard, then yeah the apex pro is actually a good choice
i haven't used one myself but i have coworkers who've tried them and said if you set the actuation point high enough, breathing on the keyboard will trigger keys - which can be a good thing if you're playing the kind of game where you need super twitchy hair trigger movement
Thx for the help i might buy it
yeah its worth a look 👍
yea, and the fn+h etc too. though on vim a lot of times it's just arrow keys cuz if I'm in insert mode
My keychron K1 just arrived. It is perfect.
niiice
I prefer full switches, but low profile is a pretty reasonable compromise for on the go. and the rgb is a hilarious bonus
oh thats the low profile one
Whats a way to get rid of the ping without destroying the flexibility of a keychron q1?
case foam, that tape mod, or lubing
Does car foam work since it's thin like the original and won't really interfere with the gasket mount
car foam?
that boi thin
i mean, its still pretty thicc compared to a lot of keyboards
Yeah - it's portable, rather than tiny. But the reality is if I'm travelling that light, the laptop has a perfectly good keyboard already
What switches did you get
browns - red are the WORRRRSSSTTT
is the corsair k100 opx any good or is it worth looking at other brands?
Seen people talk down on it but 90% of the time it was the price they cried about
Is the wooting 2 he/Lekker edition available for you?
Dang it.
Cause it's the one that I recommend if you need the hyper low actuation
haha ok I just tested it - I don't like the angle of the keychron K1 - I really want the rear up on stands, but it doesn't have them
I'm using it now pushed on on my RK87 daily driver, and it's very nice. I may need to buy a stand or 3D print something
ordered some rubber feet.
Same thing with my K87, I made a wooden base for it. It was sitting to flat for me.
red switches are the worst
black switches
browns are pretty quiet too
if you want to make them nicer i jut lubed gateron blacks and they feel amazing
Those are not quiet switches at all
They are less loud than blue
But not quiet
If you want real quiet switches then get silent version
Cherry mx silent red, aliaz silent, kailh silent box pink or brown, gareon silent line
Etc. Cause there's a lot of other silent switches around
@near prawn
ah ok
any1 know of a good bluetooth keyboard for mac with rgb backlight thats for gaming and work? im at college rn so thats why im kinda asking
Check Keychron
anyone know the best white tkl with gat yellows/silent reds or cherry mx inks? (rgb and hotswap are optional but preferably i would like it)
Can I find that on Amazon too?
get what
I mean ya I’ve seen it b4 and I like it, just idk a bit too much for my budget
what’s you budget
Ok I’m looking through rn. I’m also trying to determine if they have volume controls keys
Otherwise I would have to use like fn and another key for it
What’s the difference between k series K6, k3, or k2?
think6.5 le on the way
Which one is that?
how to know if my mechanical keyboard's switches are replaceable?
Depends if they are hotswap or not
whats the difference between blue switches, red switches, brown switches, and like cherry red mx switches? i dont get it
just wanna ask rq if theres a mouse for the cherry G80 3000
Blue are clicky ... they have mechanism to make noise in them and also have tactile bump
Brown don't click but still have the tactile bump
Red don't click and don't have tactile bump
That's about the basic of it
Even tho they don't click it doesn't mean they are completely silent tho
Mx cherry is the brand ... there's a lot of brand that makes switches and most of them makes subjectively better switches than mx cherry base line of switches
But then it's a matter of preference
@wind oyster
Royal Kludge has some good ones. The RK84, for example, has both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz.
I’m assuming that’s like one of those “knock off” brands but still make good products and made with good material? U know what I mean.
Is there Bluetooth 5.0ghz yet or is it only still at 2.4ghz? I’m asking for keyboards obvs
The materials are alright. My brother has one and, while not the sturdiest, doesn't feel like a toy.
You mean Bluetooth 5.0? Not really needed for keyboards, I don't think.
Oh. Ok. What devices use higher versions of Bluetooth then? Like I have a (sorry im going off topic to mice a bit)Logitech g604 and that has Bluetooth, so ya.
The white theme(yes white I’m not racist lol don’t make fun of me lol) im not a big fan of but I’ll prob look into the black one. That’s just how I roll with things like that
U know what I mean
Mostly speakers and headphones.
Gotcha.
Okay so from my understanding so far, if I don’t want one that’s clicky/makes a lot of noise than I should go with either red switch or@brown switch
Like I get the point of a mechanical keyboard, but they’re not all clicky and noisy right?
They still make quite a bit of noise, but not as much as a blue.
U think me watchin a video on the noises of@each switch and listening to it side by side will help me
Sorry for the at symbols. I’m currently typing this on my mobile@phone lol
Also I kinda asking for future reference for a keyboard cuz I already ordered one but haven’t got it yet. It’s from this brand on Amazon called seenda.
It looked more like a traditional Mac keyboard space grey but with the rgb lighting backlit
Here’s a link for anyone whose interested. seenda Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Compatible Mac - Bluetooth Keyboard with 7 Color Backlit Rechargeable Computer Keyboards Compatible with Apple Mac, iMac, MacBook Pro/Air, Mac Mini - Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085TC7LQ7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_C5BBDHRE60VQVCD6DGGY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Never heard of it.
Ya I found it I guess. What’s the worse that can happen?
Worse case scenario I don’t like it and try to send it back..?
Idk
We’ll see I guess
you should get a keychron heard its nice for mac
Maybe I’ll like it maybe I won’t
Is there a keychron that’s like close or around $50 or $60
nope
thats a membrane keyboard wont be as nice as a mechanical
Look I want a GOOD product but i don’t want the quality of it to be bad
U know
On Amazon nowadays aren’t their products like that
yeah everyone wants that
They’re cheap but good material?
do you need a mac compatible keyboard ?
dont go for blue switches
got for blacks, red, brown or even silver
i just modded my ducky one 2 mini with gateron blacks and lubed them and it feels super nice
its like typing on butter
Keychron has Mac compatible boards. In fact they’re like the only company that does it
honestly if your buying a keyboard just don't overthink and you should be fine
I’ll give it a whirl.
Thanks
And ya I kinda am an over thinker at times
Still workin in that part of me
If you want quiet switches reds and browns dont make too much noise. But you can also get silent switches later
Interesting
unless you are ready for a challenge and you want to learn a new skill
Wdym?
and desolder all the keys like i did
Bruh im in college. Don’t know i lf I said that or not and if I did I kinda regret saying it
Idk why
Whatever. It is what it is
Don’t ask
Keep calm carry on
nice
its not a must you dont really need it but it will make if more enjoyable to type on
Last time i desoldered a keyboard I destroyed both. So
i didnt and its my second time soldering in my life
I also see on Amazon Theres a version 2 of keychron
Cool
the v2 is a lot better than the v1
Do you like that layout btw? They sell a full sized and TKL as well
This the one?
Keychron K2 Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboard with Gateron Red Switch/White LED Backlit/USB C/Anti Ghosting/N-Key Rollover/Compact 75% Layout 84 Key Wireless Gaming Keyboard for Mac Windows-Version 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QBPCGY2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JRDN5K8GBN3G7HRB0RYF
I was worried for a long link
Sorry…
Nah its fine lol
Nah links are fine i was just expecting a giant paragraph amazon link
And yeah thats the K2
Thanks
amazon has 2 links it either 2 lines or 20
Yup
Lol. Also there’s a way I can enable media keys right
Like without doing fn and f11 all the time
Yeah there’s a key combo you enter
only on the keychron
Cool cool
The only “budget” version I found imo is one for $70 rather than $80. Not@including tax and all@that stuff
some kid on my bus said they were getting a new keyboard and said that it had blue switches and i yelled to the back "ewwwww blues"
Nice
Is gateron the name?
Gateron makes the switches
gateron is a nice brand
Keychron has backlit right? So I can see the keys at night?
i was expecting them to be bad but they are just as good as cherry id say
It does. Theres white and rgb
Nice
The one you sent has the white lights
Yeah they’re pretty identical
Yeah all switches do
by the looks of it cherry switches have more meat on them
Well most switches
Which layout do you like better?
No not that layout
Oh
layout is how many keys there are
and how they are setup
Like how many keys do you want and what kind of switches you want. The k3 is slim and a 65% board
Sorry I don’t know what u mean 😦
I do now
I guess I just don’t think or take these technical things into account
Bruh amazon auto corrects keychron to keychain. LMAO
75% would be what the K3 and K2 are
Here this is a bit better
Plz tell@me they have full size
Keychron sells 100%-60%
Cool
The K4 is a compact full sized
Yea
Let’s gooo!!!
They have a normal sized one but its not wireless
Oh wait the K10 is full sized wireless
Do you want that?
Well its a slim one though but it exists
Then I’ll prob get back to ya
Alright
The normal@built in Mac keyboard, that layout, that’s like 50% or 60% right?
I could do that kind of layout to make it easy for myself
For a MacBook that’s probably closer to a 65%
Ok ok
Hold
Wait wait
I like, but so much to pay
A small price to pay for salvation
Indeed
New information: the K4 is a 96%. If you dont mind the keys squished together like that it’s something to consider
Also i was mistaken, the k10 is not a slim keyboard
Ok
which keychron has the keys spread out a bit
how do i find the amazon link for the k10?
i dont think keychron sells from amazon
pretty sure its just people reselling
I love my k1
No, reds are disgusting mush
Very very nice like mush
King gyms ALL THE WAY
I accidentally bought a kb with reds and used it for not even 2 minutes
forgot to ask. is there a version of keychron without numpad AND arrowkeys?
cuz i just realized i prob dont need num pad and arrow keys
yes check on their website
yea
just go on it and you will see
if you dont plan to change switches often dont look at the hotswap feature
kk. thanks. how do i find the verison without numpad and arrow keys. i used the search option and nothing came up. i did "without arrow keys" and "no arrow keys"
What have you done to that poor keyboard lol
Just re-arranged a couple keys
whats the difference between the normal one and the low profile version?
The low profile one has a lower profile
See my pic above
oh
i want to say the aluminum frame is worth it but do i need it
talk all u want that im over thinking but im doing research
also does rly anyone use arrow keys anymore?
I do. Not constantly but often enough
I know it's a controversial keyboard but I kinda likey
Yeah all the time
moving the cursor?
Are everglides worth it
for a keychron q1
in the sound tests theres some rattle
but yeah the stock ones are decent
im more concerend about ping
like lube?
oh i see
also how can I reduce the ping on the board
since it has a lot
without adding lots of foam and destroying the gasket mount
like polyfill?
You ABSOLUTELY need to do one of these mods if you get the Keychron Q1
Keychron Q1 Preorder ► https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-q1
KBDFans Gasket Foam ► https://kbdfans.com/r?id=35ccs6
Masking Tape ► https://geni.us/qJG8
Polyfill ► https://geni.us/f4jh
Spacebar Foam https://kbdfans.com/r?id=qt9fi5
KBDFans Accessories: https://s.click.a...
Well I mean let’s say I speedrun mc from@time to time and I use the period key on the numpad to reset my livesplit timer
Keep in mind in@not a pro
Nor do I have pb
Just causal
Layers…?
Oh
True true
I don’t want to spend a fortune but I also don’t want to spend like something that’s cheap plastic
That will break easy
I was more thinking of maybe $60 to $70 or $80…
I know I’m gunna have to go over $100 at some point
I have enough money for it
It’s just idk
K
I guess ur right
Fine
Imagine gaming with ONLY a numpad
Just a funny scenario
Tkl
But explain what it@means
Like the acronym
Ok
Well….
Not rly
Ya I could say
That
I’ll research on Amazon
Gimme a sec
Oh
Cool
Is it keycron agin
Again
And is wireless/Bluetooth ?
So its perfect for a Mac
Lets goo
I hate that 60% has function keys on the same as regular numbers
same, personally i find a tkl the most practical
However 70-75% also has function keys. Like on its own
yea, i just like them being a bit seperated, 70% has it next to the other keys with no seperation, just something i personally dont like, but its probably nice for people who like that
i use tkl cus i like the look of it
and physical arrows + nav keys are used often
and i have external numberpad cus i like it
ya im thinking going with keycron k8
keychron Q2 looks great ... that's probably the one I will get next
mod003 looks nice ... but a bit too big for me
not an issue if you don't care about cherry keycaps
i am looking for a keyboard in australia like this one but with RGB
https://kprepublic.com/collections/durgod/products/durgod-104-taurus-k310-mechanical-keyboard-using-cherry-mx-switches-pbt-doubleshot-keycaps-brown-blue-black-red-silver-switch?variant=7435662491692

the white one
this counts as a keyboard right? It's my first ever - and self made - macropad. I already ordered all of the parts to assemble it, but china shipping takes a while.
So I made this render to get a rough idea on how it could look like. Any opinions? :D
Really cool
has different layouts, you can have it like shown with a knob and oled screen or simply only 3x3 buttons. Just to your likings
with keycaps ^^
I'm wondering how I should assign all of the buttons, I don't a use case for the macropad tbh 😂
The problem is that it's really really hard to get that final 30% or so slickness of a finished product
but it is awesome that there's so many wants to make cool stuff like that these days
Which is why I went for a MIDI controller with custom software and a stream deck
Can anyone reccomend a keyboard & all the mods required like lubing materials, keycap ring etc under 50 dollars?
lol. Impossible.
100USD is the absolute minimum whatsoever - 130USD are the actual minimum that can be achieved for sure.
what do you mean with that? As I said, this is my first ever real macropad / pcb project, but I feel like this could be almost perfect 😅 at least the render and that stuff looks awesome imo
"Software" is already done with QMK which you flash on the used Pro Micro
oh I mean more in terms of fit and finish. also feel
Would y’all recommend the logitech g513
That's kinda expensive (・o・)
I mean, if you want a crap kb...
I think there is as lot of room in 50-100
Lemme send my kb one sec
but 50 is extremely entry level
https://rkgamingstore.com/ are decent and affordable
Royal Kludge is relatively a newer company that specializes in wireless mechanical gaming keyboards including Royal Kludge RK61, RK84, RK87, RK71, etc, using Cherry MX switches (+clones) and electrostatic capacitive switches. Official Online Store with exclusive deals. Money back guarantee. Sign up for our newsletter.
Yea, I like the 71 honestly, the arrow keys are mandatory
https://www.keychron.com/ also good
I was thinking phantom 81?
I just got this k1
With browns
Yep, saw it yesterday I think
Low profile browns
Any difference between low profile and regular switches?
Regular is better for most people, but low profile some prefer. In my case it's for portability
I see
The rk84 looks really good and has all the things I need
They use gaterons?
and he talked about modding (lubing) and stuff. Impossible for 50USD
if you want something good, you need to spend more.
Same goes for the keebs. You can get a 30-50USD mechanical keyboard, but it won't feel or sound good at all
My rk87 was about 50usd and it's great
Aight, I'll buy something when I have money, thanks for the recommendations tho
You could get an sk61 which is 70 usd
optical switches afaik - trash.
70usd is above his budget
no mods like lube.
you desolder the switch to repair it
step 1: buy better keyboard
Or you can not be a judgemental dick and try to help him.
yes that's what I said ... you most likely have no choice to desolder the switch ...
hmm, i dont have the tools necessary to fix it
holy crap thank god I have my warranty to help
will a broken switch be eligible for warranty
edit: found out my switch are hot swappable thanks anyways!
i
I THOUGHT IT WAS SWITCH
not even the same guy
what's the best 100% mech keyboard under $50? pref with wrist rest
Wired vs wireless keyboards?
And why does 24 key rollover exist?
For what sorts of use cases?
General student stuff
Wireless keyboards are quite nice.
Wired keyboard are more reliable but not as nice.
I see
https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/gmmk-full-brown-switch this good? and should I get model o or model o wireless for gaming if I get this keyboard?
GMMK is a decent board.
I can get it for 99 dollars
and what about the model o? does it matter which?
and for the keyboard is full what I should get or tenkeyless or compact
Model O wireless imo
Normal Model O if you are trying to save a buck
aah ok
I would recommend the TKL
does it matter which one?
Anyone know where I kind find Nordic Keycaps with ISO layout?
I am trying to learn everything I can before I pick parts and make the computer and there are so many things its :mindblown:
https://www.maxgaming.fi/fi/keycaps/ukiyo-e-109-keycap-pbt-set-iso-reverse
https://kbdfans.com/products/nordic-layout-np-profile-pbt-keycaps?_pos=2&_sid=4411ef6c5&_ss=r&variant=39417087262859
https://kbdfans.com/products/nordic-layout-pbt-keycaps?_pos=1&_sid=4411ef6c5&_ss=r&variant=6933211349050
And basically every GMK set with the international kit added
Not really, what i would personally go there is compact as i really don't like big keyboards
But most find those smaller layouts harder
The maxgaming one was ugly, but the last link you sent looks decent
which one would be the size of a dell laptop's keyboard?
What size dell laptop
Dell Inspirion 15 3000 series
Size wise probably TKL
Key amount wise Fullsize
Unless you need a numpad get the TKL
If they did only the modifiers blue and gold instead of having that weird line I would prob get it 😅
my keyboard is about 34cm let me look at that rq
hmm I am trying to figure out how big full vs tenkeyless would be
Just do like i did, just give up on the nordic layout caps
Just get ISO keys for some set
Unless you want to drop a shit ton of money on GMK set
Where are you from
America
There is a Norwegian company that does custom keyboards, but they still don't do custom Norwegian keycaps. Feelsbadman.
aah thanks
I have so many questions lol
should I get the switches from the keyboard here or do I buy from somewhere else?
I have no idea what you mean by get the switches here
what is the difference between Box - 120x Kailh Brown and 120x Gateron Brown
I can customize it in glorious
Box has a box slider and is produced by Kailh
Gateron Brown is a normal MX switch produced by Gateron
Gateron Browns are less tactile than box Browns
which one is better for gaming?
I dislike brown switches.
Best for gaming would prob be something like; Kailh Speed Copper?
does that click and have a small sound?
Those are tactiles not clickies
They make a sound, but there is no element that creates it
the sound is generated by the switch hitting to housing
yes
I want to hear the clicking sound and maybe a little tactile
yeah probably more clicking sound
Popped the Kalih Speed Coppers back in.
is there some store I can try keyboard swtiches lol
here is a soundtest
Yes you can buy a switch tester, or go to the nearest electronics store where they sell keyboards
how much are switch testers?
I personally haven't used the speed coppers tho. I have just heard that they are nice for gaming...
aah
I can get it from glorious for 10 dollars
it's a hotswap keyboard
If you had fat stacks of cash, you can get holy pandas? 😏
I wish I had money
I would recommend just getting the Copper speeds if you don't like them just get other switches
one sec
Also heard that clears are decent. Also haven't tired those 😅
I myself got Box Whites
Clears are meh
They are clicky
yay or nay?
yay and nay
Did not hate them, did not like them
I built a split for a friend with Box Royals
those are amazing
@wheat island Get Box Jades
That's super loud ;D
I want like an office keyboard maybe?
Dubbed the 'Thick Clicks' switches, the Novelkeys Box Jades are, as the name would suggest, clicky switches that set a precedent in mx style switch tactility. Still... too much of something is not necessary good.
Link to all the parts I use in videos: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IFiNKkJjAZJvprjfq71IgTNLlGcrfJF-fLQCciSyDiA/edit?usp=s...
I highly recommend those
If you think Blues are loud xD
its not an option on this keyboard
so what does tactile feel like?
So imagine a light switch, there's a noticable force event that you need to over come before it goes light
so imagine linears, but with a bump that says that now have you pressed the key without beeing very loud...
wait brb

Misses Nordic keycaps and has no ISO layout. I'll pass 😛
wouldn't buy
Yo if you made all your keycaps artisan keycaps.... You could have like a 10 000€ keyboard...
if you would just have RAMA artesans (metal caps)
it would be around 3k just for a 65%
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
Found Nordic keycaps :3
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
Why not?
75%
Not hotswap
comes only with cherry switches.
Otherwise it could be fine.
What switches do you prefer?
Are you from EU?
Yep
That keyboard is ANSI not ISO the layout is wrong for us EU folk
Bedtime for me, good night
Good night!
Well for typing in German I can just switch the software language (got the ISO layout memorised already) and for coding it’s perfect
I recommend still getting an ISO layout keyboard
How so?
That would be nice to know too
You have to do trickery with German layouts made for ANSI
It's a pain in the ass sometimes
Kailh Box switches and Kailh Chocs.
Really? What kind of trickery?
Nice
You know where ' is
The ansi enter is on top of that
Isn’t the key above the enter key used when you use QWERTZ on QWERTY?
I could live with that
What is it used for, then?
it returns + or * idr which the German layout has there
😳
But there are 2 additional keys between it and P
why would it be doubled like that?
Idk what they talking abt
There's 1 button, you could technically bind it to '
The actual symbols are handled by the OS, keyboard just sends key codes
also pipe and <> is missing
The only key missing is for <> but I only need this for coding anyway
And for coding I will use ANSI
I mean if you can live with it sure
#‘ would be a huge bummer
I’m too tired to explain how this tempora mf wrong but u wouldn’t have to do any extra work for #’
It will work outright
Ok thanks
And /| functions as #‘ here?
Ya
While ur language in OS is set to German anyway
Set keyboard layout to American and it’ll be normal ansi
Noice
U can toggle layouts with ctrl +shift iirc. Don’t quote me on that but there’s definitely keyboard shortcut for cycling them
Not true for every key matrix out there.
Yep I remember that one too
but could be true on most keyboards
Referring to yui
Should be true tbh, would be a nightmare otherwise
I don’t get how windows handles keyboards this horribly, btw
there's a tool in windows to create custom layouts
Lol
Anyway 2am I need my sleep
A couple keyboards I got recently
No in built macros or rebinding, sees multiple keyboards as one, etc
Nice
3AM here 💀
@urban glade oh and only if you want to respond tomorrow or something, what do you think about this keyboard right here: https://www.amazon.de/EPOMAKER-AKKO-9009-Tenkeyless-Mechanical/dp/B0899W2PYF/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=B0899YGQ7S&th=1 ?
It’s the only one that fits my setup lmao
Filco majestouch is my fav OEM mx board, but it lacks the rgb leds etc that’s commonly desirable today
Fair
Nice
I’m sure it’s good enough for the price
I don’t like centered legends generally but that’s all aesthetic preference soo 🤷♀️
Np
That still has F keys
Lots of space to work with here
I don’t game so I don’t need to save that mouse space lol
Thanks!
I don’t know whether I will have to input a lot of numbers in the future
It didn’t stay this tidy for long lol
any recommendations for tkl keyboards I should get (With RGB I can adjust)
Wow that’s a nice setup!
Ty
Cable mgmt leaves a lot to be desired but it also doesn’t annoy me enough to sort it
My back and neck don’t hurt, tho
is that one of those mouses on a wrist rest
Cable management? Never heard of it (average cable stew connoisseur)
I want to build some split with trackpoint
What kind of TKL?
I used to have a gergo but gave it away earlier this year
mechanical
How many keys?
Razer Huntsman Tournament edition maybe if you care about the RGB stuff
87/88
You don’t want to see my synth rack
I’ve never rly used trackpoint, I hope one day there’s a keyboard kit which I’d consider buying that has one
Hm alright no idea sry
U don’t wanna see under my desk lol
Can you say the same?
Trackpoint is amazing
Tsangan
Nope! But I have scoliosis and painful joints in general
This is the start of a series of mods that you'll be able to hand wire to your builds, whether they be keyboards, Arduinos or Raspberry Pis. They're meant for adventurous tinkerers, and may be a challenge to fit into your builds. If that's up your alley, do check out these components! Want to get your mouse a little bi
My standing setup really helped my posture and stuff
Yeah I mean an actual premium board not that lol
Just get a Kyria and solder that in
Haven’t used vertical. Imo it depends what you want. I love this but ymmv, no real way to know for sure without trying them
As I said-an actual premium board. Kyria is not exactly what I would consider remotely premium.
The real estate do be small, tho
Why?
Fair enough, i could see that fit an Alice really good
response to the others dude
Ik, but I still would like to know
Clickbars produce better sounds imo
I see
ye
How do they sound?
lemme send a sound test rq
75% looks odd to me atleast.
Whats a good soft wrist rest for the keychron q1?
got my 75% keyboard yesterday too
Thx
🕴️
because it makes the keyboard look fatter
personal opinion
the layout is kinda weird ngl
I don't really see a reason to have a f layer
