these are different keycap standards
and as you can see, they are totally different from one to another
Never even noticed that they are that different, lel
SA looking chonky
looks like marshmallows
I really just prefer custom because I dislike cherry switches
big chonkers
In before cherry sells a hotswap board... >.<
Really though, does seem unlikely
i mean technically these are a thing already with stuff like kemove snowfox offering cherry mx options
Not really a "made by cherry" product though is it?
yea true
tho you dont see any made by gateron board as well so 🤷‍♂️
I hate cherry switches so much, that I've always just ended up buying some cheapo board to avoid the torture of using those cherry switches
there are some that are fine, just not with the ones you find in the usual boards from your local store..
I don't really get the cherry hate personally. They make uninteresting but reliable mechanical switches.
you prob experienced the bad end of cherry switches
scratchy sand push feel
thing with cherry switches, they can feel good, just that it takes time to cherry picked the good ones out like you said
pun not intended
pretty much
Haven't had much issue with scratchy MX myself, but only really use their linears + browns
what boards do you have tho?
I think more gateron produts are in my parts bin at this point than any other brand
Pair of ergodox, filco majestouch, couple older ducky boards, a wasd v1, k-type, CTRL, GMMK Pro
me who only just ordered a second:
yea
like half of the boards actually takes time to sort out their switches
Ah, bit of a QC issue with the cheaper boards or something?
yea
we are talking about the gamer boards
that is like the face of cherry nowdays
they use whatever comes into their door
Fair enough, closest thing to a gamer board I own is probably the GMMK Pro and thats mostly due to the manufacturer rather than the product
stuff like leopolds has good hyperglides, so much so i see ppl desoldering em for use in custom
currently just waiting for a certain keyboard to start, which seems to be Q4 2021-Q1 2022
Oh Leopolds come with hyperglides that's nice of them
keychron q1 about to drop tho
another 75% to compete with the gmmk pro
Daily drivers atm are the wasd v1, filco majestouch and GMMK Pro. Both massdrop products are dead.
75%, pretty much the minimum for anything that isn't gaming
loss of F keys hurts to much
idk how can i be fine with 60%
I tried a 60% at work for a while, couldn't keep up on it
tho tbh, price is a constrain for me
Also tried the first ergodox, same problem
especially when sometimes i will accidentally hit the function key at the edge
for my usual usage, I prefer just having F keys, arrows, delete key, etc
yea
i dont use them often, thats prob why i dont miss em much
couldn't care less about the numpad
well, I do care about the numpad, when I have one... because it takes away half the space of my mouse
I don't mind a 75% or TKL, could probably get by with whatever the hell you'd call it if you just ended a standard board before the nav cluster entirely
it hurts my soul when a good new board is released, and it is full size
I mean who is releasing enthusiast fullsize boards? They seem to be one of the rarest
thankfully, yes.. but I've had a few I ended up just skipping entirely, even though I loved the appearance
Seems like most of the options for good fullsize boards are still OEM style boards like filco/ducky/leopold ect
should just be called "oversize" instead of "fullsize"
full size for many is just 75%, 80%, and such
and extra numpad is just an add-on kinda thing
shrug Never really been bothered by board size, have used much bigger boards than the typical fullsize a few times.
I just don't want chonky width, it is fine when it is a large square
numpad above the F keys would be preferred for me actually
Full size for many is not 75%.
The majority of keyboards out there are full 100%'s, and you can tell by looking at the layout of almost every office keyboard out there.
you mean the group of people that use numpad a lot, and aren't even in the audience of these keyboards?
Who is only making fullsize enthusiast boards at all?
I mean, there are enough that only make 100% for a certain model
Who we talking about here? Nothing comes to mind
If you actually buy the chassis and all parts
you have enough places that only have one size for a whole diff appearance
I hate how my mind just goes like this, not bothering with doing any proper english ever
Sure, but who is actually selling enthusiast/custom fullsize boards?
I'm saying that the call to adjust the existing nomenclature isn't needed, since the current 100% layout is what's dominant out there.
Pretty much, a standard is a standard for a reason. Even if ISO enter should be considered a warcrime >.<
is it actually the most common, when also counting laptop keyboard though
Yup..sold out already
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-q1?variant=39405021069401
Keychron Q1 is a fully customized 75% layout mechanical keyboard packed with all premium features and unlimited possibilities. Q1 is an all-metal keyboard that allows customizable capabilities for every key switch, keycap, and stabilizer. It’s made for your personalized experience and a more comfortable typing experience.
Guess we'll see how it shakes out when units make it to peoples door
I wanted to get one for my birthday but I guess that’s not happening :(
Hopefully their stabs aren't as awful as glorious's
They claim a new design so who knows
That they do
Considering laptop keyboards are constrained by the physical size of the laptop, making it impossible to comfortably fit a 100% in a 13" model without sacrificing ergonomics, yes.
External keyboards don't have such limitations. They can be as large or as small as you wish.
Even the layouts they do manage to cram in 13" are terrible ergonomically though
Depends on the laptop, IMHO.
I like the blue; if it were brighter it would be a (hypothetical) insta-buy.
Can't say I love any of them personally. I'd like either a more raw silver or a deeper black
yea
its a navy blue kind of blue
Don't they have an e-white though?
The colors they picked just look.... plasticy
they sent a survey out for color options. i said they should release more then just 3 options because that would be more fun. sadly they didnt do that
I swear they had an e-white.
That or their renderer failed their job >.<
I know people were disappointed by the GMMK Pro lacking that option so it would make sense for them to clamour for it here.
The pro did a lot wrong despite getting a lot right. I don't hate the product but I can't say I'm not a little disapointed I had to work on it so much to make it good
it does look like they tried to recreate Glourious' "arctic white" with the space gray one
Honestly the knob on the pro bugs me the most with how much it binds >.<
Stabs were a close second though and got replaced
For a first attempt they did a really nice job. Newbies wouldn't be disappointed at all unless they were expecting a sound similar to the Jelly Epoch or the ai03 Vega lol
To be fair, you can approach that sound with a foam mod.
I mean the spacebar completely failing to actuate with the switches they sold to me with the board is pretty bad
oof
Mine's completely fine. Have you contacted them about that yet?
Nah, just fixed the problem myself.
They massively over-lubed the stabs to the point where a gat clear just didn't have enough spring to reset after being pressed down
oh god
Ahhhhh. I didn't know that prevented it from actuating in the first place. My space bar felt like it was struggling to pop back up, so you're not alone.
I do plan to swap the stabs with Durock V2's but I haven't gotten around to that yet. Not sure what mods I should do with them.
But yeah. In the end, it's fine now. Rattly as hell but works much better.
I ended up just using plate stabs I had left over from past builds and haven't had a problem since
Also ended up realizing gat clears aren't my thing so those are in the parts box too >.<
ended up stealing the switches off my dead k-type
just get 1000 of all switches in existence
if i get the q1 hopefully i can use my akko switches i tried to use in another keyboard
some switches are just destined to always end up back in the parts box
just try and get the hardest click ever
you can probably get worse
It's 5-pin, no?
box jades CLICK
So you can still use them.
make them worse
mhm
They just won't have the two stabilizing legs.
Don't think I even own any 5-leg switches, never done a pcb mount build
Just give me some 80db click switches
and put like 100-200 gram springs in them or smth
yes, I just want to hurt my soul
I think that's the definition of box navy?
Unless I misremembered the spring weight on those
Lol, you want revenge at someone at the offfice it sounds like
get the banned switches
Super Chad navy
500g bottom out spring
Box jades on a super thin aluminum plate handwired PING like crazy
Model m em up
nah, I just hate myself, and want to give myself finger exercise and some annoying sound for the neighbours and their constant screaming at their screeching child
just be like have some 10 hour clicking, from waking up to going to sleep
starting from me waking up, aka 4:30, until 21:30
so... how can I get the loudest switches ever?
I am willing to pay 5000 eur to drown out their screaming, screeching and crying with clicking
while also destroying their ears, while I wear some fully closed off headphones
So
Brass plate
stiff as fuck case
Zero lube
Metal keycaps
210g springs
Cherry blue or Kailh box clickies
And adjusting your typing style to match those with neckbeards who debate on 4chan 24/7
AKA literally slamming the keys down
<<< actually kicks against the wall after 30 minutes of screeching
just shut up with all that screaming at your screeching 2 year old
I hate living in an apartment with hollow walls...
Don't forget the 7 foot parabolic dish for optimal noise directionality
that too lol
I should just build in some clicky switches into the wall, and actually use them... considering they are hollow, you'll end up with a lot of noise in there
Is filing a noise complaints with the apartment staff possible?
country allows you to be noisy af until 12:00...
if not, 15" SVS subs are on sale I think
12:00 to 4:00 you need to be quiet, and that is it
bruh
I guess sound treatment or noise cancelling headphones are in order.
don't ask me how often I've had neighbours blasting loud music and singing until 12:00, having a party every week, with family and 20 children stamping on the floor
May as well just skip to beating them at their own game rather than making concessions by the sounds of it
why do you think I want the clickiest keyboard possible
Can get a lot of subwoofer for what you'd spend on such a keeb though
me being someone who would buy 6000 euro headphones, cannot afford to listen to garbage
I am fine with a keyboard as loud as a jet engine though
So what your saying is we get some really nice subs
hehe
"audiophile community"
I don't like bass tho
though I would like a keyboard so loud it shakes the walls
Sometimes its about sound quality, sometimes its about oneupmanship with the neighbor.
It is honestly sad it would be legal to jump all day and do basketball in here until 12:00 or something
I want to move outta this country partly because of it
one of three major reasons
Sounds like you just need to find a place that isn't an apartment
there is such thing as
not being a millionaire
because all of those are 800k+
barely even got a few thousand
funny thing is I ain't even 19 yet
25 august is my 19th
Sounds like a messed up housing market, got my place with a down payment of 10k
I am actually thinking about moving to scandinavia, which actually has such pricing still
also, it is more so just all housing that isn't an apartment, is either something like 20-50 rooms, or a place you have to buy when it gets built, and move in a few years later
or just a single room in the middle of nowhere, requiring you to get a car, and ends up costing like 5000 a month
does someone know of a "moonlander ergo" keyboard alternative that ships from europe (cause of customs)?
Uh quick quesiton
Is it fine to use white lithium grease spray to lube the keyboard stabs?
The one I have says it's safe to use on plastic
So idk if this is the right place to ask , is there a layout file or something that i could give to my gf to draw some custom stuff on a keycap like space or enter and have it printed.
Are you talking about custom keycaps? Or macros? Or something else?
keycaps
You can draw on waterslide decals and then transfer it onto some blank caps
Logitech keyboard is s+
Especially the g213 prodigy
Because for a small price of just 40 dollars
You get RGB
and
Logitech keyboards aren’t that great in my opinion. If you just want rgb, sure I guess. But you can get way better boards for the price
They have some that are good
imo none of them are good, the switches on all of them are quite bad
even their newest LP gaming keyboard uses the cheapest Kailh LP
is k550 worth it???
which kb is that?
no
why is that bad its an mechanical keyboard good price too
The thing is like 77$
Get a tecware phantom or something instead
or like the k551
but what kind of k550 u were referring?
redragon k550
yeah the gigaware what i meant
I suppose you're referring to some TKL with dustproof outemus?
yes
Yep they click fast too
I guess
i only need it for 1 game lol
It's just a basic dustproof outemu keeb
like they're nothing special they're just cheap
Can't afford a T-dagger though? @tiny moon
its kinda expensive than the k550
I mean it's better built
currently the k550 is discount on us
then if you really really can't then just get the K550
Nice
GMMK white ice or Varmilo VA87M Sea Melody?
nvm, the store near me only has brown switches, trying to look for something with red switches
If you guys have any other recommendations for a TKL with red switches, I'd appreciate that
bruh
idk y it doesnt work
finally
@main pumice get a Varmillo instead
or a Keychron hot swap
Ducky is long past their glory days
no they make shitty preipherals
that have le gamer aesthetic
Get metal, and don’t settle for less. The tenkeyless Nova Mechanical Keyboard packs a machined aluminum chassis and stunning RGB lighting at a budget-friendly price point. It’s a luxurious, high performance gaming keyboard for everyone. Interested in other keyboard layouts and styles?Check out our newest wireless keybo
or this thing
or the good ole fc750r from leopold
So, even though it's not directed to me, I'm just gonna get the Varmilo VA87M Sea Meloday since you said they were good
Yeah they're great, especially there keycaps
I was attracted to them because of their aesthetics at first. Just wanted to make sure the quality was just as good
They're average
Well, I needed a replacement for my G.Skill KM570 anyways
i would say one of the best prebuilt boards you can get
would get keychron but keys r ugly and dk wat keys to buy if i get it
not as good as leopolds tho
the hexgears nova is not good enough for you?
You're talking about varmilo?
yep
Oh, damn, thanks
the keyswitch got stuck to my keycap and now it doesnt work if i solder the switch will it fix it?
Tsk tsk
should i get a new keyboard to replace this old thing also cause in the dark i can't see the keys does anyone recommend a keyboard with full white light
Do you care about keeb size?
If you are fine with a 60%, I reccomend a gk61
If you only care about gateron optical switches, the sk64/sk61 is a good choice as well
What is your price range?
im saving up but right now about 20 to 40
Ah, if you can't afford the gk61, there is a decent redragon tkl
oh
am i able to customize the keys to white cause thats all i pretty much need
Keycaps?
Oh, they come with white or black keycaps (the backlight can be seen through the letters)
If you care about rgb make sure you buy the version with rgb
@cosmic python tecware phantom might fit as well in your budget and it's better than redragon by quite alot
Just buy a Logitech keyboard 🙄
dont u dare
You could grab a EpoMaker GK68X, they're on sale on Amazon but you will spend $60
If you have like $20 the K120 is your only good option lol
You get a $10 extra discount.. but taxes will bump it up to $62 (based on the taxes for my state, Louisiana)
If you don't get slapped by taxes, then it'll just be $56
Now im not sure if that's the price if you don't have Amazon prime >.>
That's the keyboard I just got the other day, it's nice so far. Software's a bit clunky but you can customize the lights and keys (and if you're like me and using Linux, there's a package that's compiled to run on there that someone in the community made, even Epomaker references it in their extended manual :D)
The Logitech G915 wireless keyboard doesn't come in a Belgian (period) azerty layout as far as i'm aware. Is it possible to get custom keycaps for such a layout?
The keycaps would be for kailh choc switches.
Logitech doesn't use chocs though
I believe they do on their low profile G915 keyboard. Kailh tweeted that it uses their choc switches after all
If not, enlighten me which ones they use, then i can google to see if i can find some customs.
The tweet said that they used different ones @hexed zealot
Though Kailh's LP switches should all have the same top
Kailh doesn't make just chocs
yeah i know, any idea what i have to search for to find keycaps that fit that keyboard?
try aliexpress
well yeah, but i mean what type of keycaps fits that keyboard? I don't really know how they're called
Before i thought i had to search for keycaps that fit choch switches. But apparently not?
no you need choc switches
but since Logi uses custom layout literally nothing will fit @hexed zealot
the bottom row iirc
Logi and DareU have problems with LP keycap sets
aight
Can I put an 3 pin switch into an 5 pin board?
yes
What's a good mechanical keyboard that's good for gaming and typing????
unpopular opinion: get an oem mx brown board
I mean there are 40$ outemu brown boards with outemu hot swap
seems like most of the ultra cheap hotswap boards Ive seen thus far are of questionable quality
Tecware Phantom
Outemu only hotswap but they're basically glorious gmmks @worn storm
They do share the same OEM after all
just get a keychron hotswap instead
just a question but... is it a good enough reason to want to do it because your neighbours are currently playing like some 80s music at full blast with giant sub woofer, while dancing with their screeching 2 year old for 6 hours in a row?
I mean that is pretty expensive
Yeah Tecware Phantom is 10$ cheaper for a kid that's alot of money @verbal canopy
I'm pretty sure the keychron isn't outemu hotswaps either.
I'm rolling my eyes, $10 worth is just some negotiation with their parents
of course, you just need to out-woofer them
There there… virtual pat
cries in rainbow vomit gamerboards
You can put akko switches in outemu hotswap socket too ... and I heard that boba can fit in there too
wdym they are the best things known to man
hey guys
have you guys ever found a mouse mat that fits perfectly under your keyboard
i don’t want to cover my desk with a mouse mat but i want to dampen the noise
do you think it’s worth cutting a mousepad up?
Akko is KTT
you're a god amongst men
wtf is the point
Point of what?
Idk if this should go here or in #tech-support or somewhere else, but I was at a store where some of their stuff is cheaper than most places, and I bought a "4 in 1 gaming kit" that came with keyboard, mouse, headset, and mousepad
My problem is idk how to get the keyboard to light up (it has rgb lettering), and I use Linux, not Windows. Debian-based Linux distros. Mostly MX Linux; currently I'm using AVL-MXE which is derived from MX Linux and ships a low-latency kernel.
It would be nice if it's just a button or button combo on the keyboard that activates it and I just didn't notice before
The keyboard brand appears to be lvlup
Ok, I plugged it into my phone using an adaptor and I managed to get it lit up while it's plugged into my phone, but it really isn't doing any light stuff when plugged into my computer
Are these compatible with each other?
Cherry MX Browns are obviously the best switches..
But still, I prefer membrane keyboards.
I think they sound.. better.
Who lubes their switches? It sounds way better without lube.
I can hear the screeching already.
I believe yes
Do they even sound?
nah bro they just hurt to listen to
like, take out the springs from mx browns and put them in clears
that would be nice
like, the tactile bump of clears without the heavy springs
GODDAMN

anyways, back to talking about stuff with my dad
goobai
@chrome raft those switches look quite expensive, have you tried cuxiu?
legit breaks stems
110 pesos for gat yellows
I was talking about membrane keyboards
._.
sorry
im sleep deprived
smh
i spent the whole night watching gamers nexus
Yes I knew that ... that's why they fit
Yeah I tested it about 2 weeks ago when I got my akko ocean blue and lavender purple ... they are a pain to remove from the socket tho so I would not suggest swapping them too often ... but I didn't have to file or mod anything to put one in ... I will wait to do the complete board tho cause I want to mod it before putting all the switches there
Where?
https://shopee.ph/cuxiu.ph
@chrome raft
like 110 php that's Milky yellow pricing @chrome raft
Though those are actually milky blacks
Im looking for a new keyboard and was wondering which was better the hyperx alloy elite 2 or the corsair k70 rgb mk.2?
Hyper X Origins core those two keebs you listed are pretty trash
Keychron C1 HotSwap if you want a good keyboard @rotund osprey
that's also cheaper than the Origins Core
i looked at the origins core but cant find a uk layout version and thats the same problem with the C1
The weird ass enter key
yh i was looking at the tkl version though
You need tkl? @rotund osprey
i would like it but not necessary as i might still get full sized
Linear, Tactile, or Clicky? @rotund osprey
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/evga-z15-mechanical-keyboard-hotswap-kahil-speed-silver-switches-n-key-rollover-magnetic-wrist-rest
imo this is the best keyboard with UK layout @rotund osprey
it has hot swap
if you REALLY want TKL I'd consider a Roccat @rotund osprey
the non pro Vulcans
this thingy
or this thingy
for RGB !!!!!1111
@ionic briar UK layout
I mean why else would I recommend a roccat LOL
The barely passable keeb
but for gaming keyboards barely passable might as well be god tier
What are Cherry MX Red key switches best for?
anything. but they are linears and linears are probably the best for gaming
they can be used for typing too
hmm
I'm looking for a new keyboard and I need a good balance between good for typing and gaming
my current keyboard is cherry black
Isn't brown also usually considered a good middle ground for both too?
uhhh...i think so
those are a bit scratchy ive heard but they are fine
you can use anything for gaming and typing really. i find linears to be the best option for that though
K. Thanks for the help 👍
np
I'm thinking of going for the Corsair K63 wireless, in that case.
thats actually what i have now but i dont like it too much tbh. its fine for what it is but i dont think you should get that one
Do you have any recommendations?
I'd much prefer wireless but I suppose I can do with wired
what kind of size do you want?
regular to large i suppose
my current one measures to about 19 inches in length
so similar to that
probably not that.
and why wireless over wired btw?
I generally prefer wireless things to keep my desk space neat and without wires
but I can do with wired stuff if that's where the best stuff is
i see, alright
Keychron K8 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. Tenkeyless Layout. Wireless or Wired. and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Keychron Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
like this one?
it doesnt have a wireless dongle so you will need bluetooth for that
Perhaps, I'll look into that
"they're ticklish at best"
- glarses
wow lol
Hey guys, got basically ignored in PCMR and Ducky, so this might be my last chance
What can I do with a dim LED on a Ducky One 2 Mini?
Please have pinging enabled if you reply, I'm going to sleep with the most possible amount of hope
Ah, thank you!
This is just... so stupid
It's back to normal brightness at the moment
QC my ass.
If you're used to Cherry Blacks then Reds will be very light.
I need a quieter keyboard as I am moving out of my house into a college dorm but I don't want to give up the feel of the Cherry MX Blues that I have currently, from what I understand browns give most of the feel with much less of the sound. Does anyone have a good Cherry MX Brown keyboard that is preferably not too expensive?
Browns honestly don't feel anything like Blues IMO
My fiancee had Blues (just because it was a cheapo board) and I was like there's no way I'm gonna listen to that all day in the same room. Ended up going Box Burnt Orange. Granted this probably doesn't help as I kinda doubt you will find a board that comes with them but browns feel pretty bad. Maybe others will have some options. I like linears more TBH
I absolutely hate reds
i havent had long time exposure to them
but ive used them enough
that I can confidently say they feel like just a tiny step up from membrane to me
I got my current keyboard for $15 off of a friend
i like reds
although I am apparenly the 3rd or 4th person who has used it
what about silent boba switches
i've never really looked into keyboards specifically all too much so idk how those are supposed to feel or anything
they're tactile switches which is what blues are, but they are quieter then normal switches
Yea my reds didn't last me much over a year. Got sick of em
my only concern is that I wouldn't like them but i'd be willing too if it's really what i want
yeah, 2 of my friends have reds (not cause they know anything about keyboards they just either got it for christmas from their parents or as a gift from their girlfriend)
I tried theirs
and I was not a fan
am i the only one that likes them...
I've seen a bunch of people say that they love them on the internet
Yea my K95 RGB came with either red blue or brown. I ended up on Ancient Grays.
Gazzew Boba U4 62g: (0:00)

this is mainly a sound test
I have a razer black widow ultimate 2013 lmao, I've heard razer keyboards are bad but compared to the other keyboards i've used (I've never used another blue or brown switch keyboard) it's pretty good
for $15 tho, i'd say its a steal
for $15 any keyboard is acceptable. retail tho, just buy a better one
yeah, what budget would you guys reccomend for a good keyboard
I can spend as much as I need, but I would like to not buy a crazy expensive one
well, $50 will get you a decent budget prebuilt. $200 will get you a good prebuilt or cheap-ish custom
so maybe somewhere in the middle around $100
if you spend any more then that, you're getting into some nice custom keyboards
lol I've seen guys spend $500 + on a single board. Crazy to me
I would do that if I had tons of money
Especially when they have like 5 kbs already
Like I'm considering a K95 Platinum XT but I'm kinda like "do I really wanna remove all the terrible speed switchs and put ancient grays on it just for brighter LEDs?"
i'm likely gonna be able to test out a cherry mx brown keyboard that one of my friends has
tomorrow
I have to deliver a drive back to him that I used to transfer files with when I was upgrading my server and putting proxmox on it
Is that good?
Depends. For me I hate light switches. Ancient Grays are very heavy. My fiancee is fine with about where Blues are so I stuck with a similar weight for her board.
I mean if you guys liked Cherry switches you'll like literally everything else
If you liked MX Blues maybe Try Kinetic Lab's Salmon switch
It doesn't have the click
ktt gold are nice if u like the click jacket sond
they want to have something silent
Yeah basic taciles are good for that
maybe, do you have a keyboard with those switches that is good?
they're not too audible compared to clicky switches
my big thing is it has to be quiet (not silent) but much quieter than blues
yup they don't click unlike blues
You're going to have to buy a hot swap keyboard then swap them in @quiet hull
for Kinetic Lab Salmons
IMO, Box Burnt Orange if you liked Blues.
i'll check out these switches, as well as the cherry mx browns that my friend uses
mx browns are quite bad though
I would not recommend them
why is that?
i see
well I have to go over there anyways tomorrow so i'll see what I think when i use them
ive used them very sparingly and I liked the feel more than reds
https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/gmmk-full-brown-switch
@quiet hull tbh though, you can just customize this and get the option with the Pandas
alr
pick between Panda or Kailh Copper @quiet hull
just my opinion
bcz the pandas are 2x the money
then yeah, get the Kailh Copper option @quiet hull
great for gaming as well
For a full keyboard without keycaps is already 100 USD though @quiet hull
yeah i see that lol
and if you get the cheapest PBT keycaps that would be 120$ total for a keeb with speed coppers
deffo way better value than any Razer, Corsair, or Logitech keyboard though @quiet hull
since the stabilizers on GMMK are GREAT
https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Keycaps-Double-Shot-Mechanical-Keyboards/dp/B08N6FFP1C/ref=sr_1_4
@quiet hull like these keycaps
Tecware makes good keycaps
i'll have to look more into it
but I will need it relatively soon so I cant wait too long lmao
Personally I just don't think Cherry keyboards are worth more than 50$ @quiet hull
https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HTZQYV/ref=sr_1_1
@quiet hull if you want to save money this keyboard exists
I want to save money, but also get a good keyboard that will last me for a long time (also I like to have the numpad lol)
realforce
https://www.amazon.com/TECWARE-Mechanical-Keyboard-Switches-Excellent/dp/B076YJM3V3/ref=sr_1_2
@quiet hull then this guy
Tecware Keyboards last forever dw @quiet hull they're also hot swap so if a switch breaks, you can just pull it out and put a new one back in
is an outemu brown switch what i'm looking for?
Yes
It's ok, similar to cherry MX browns
imo a bit better
who plays on 104
id buy 104 only to get these switches from num pad
isnt outemu the cheapest switches?
nevermind
blues are
is k55 good?
what do you suggest
No, they're basically equal go cherry at this point
They only really have one bad line and that's dustproof outemu
No, I would get a Keychron C1 for the price instead
87 keys
hg browns are nice
smoothness id say on par with gateron now
I mean Hyperglides are like so expensive though
and much nicer sounding from the housing
They're on like Leopolds and that's it
not rly depending on where u get them
i can get them for around 0.3 usd
oh no those again
by k55 i meant corsair k55
can you suggest some other like the k55?
Why not akko CS?
how much is the k55?
k55 is membrane you better get a mechanical than some overpriced membrane
nothing wrong with them just hate to seem them being recommended over and over again
same thing with gateron yellows
idk what i can suggest but i have kailh red switches
someone might as well start making pre lubed versions of those and put it in a gk61
how custom is it when everyone builds the same thing
ok
I mean it's because they're so cheap @wraith shard
cheap, available mostly everywhere and not bad switches per say
is it a bad thing that I like clicky switches, people say I am weird
thanks, everyone thinks im weird
I like clicky switches ... but only the ones with clickbar
well after using them for about two weeks I can say that I like the akko lavender purple quite a lot
the weight is great, the tactility is quite nice, I don't hear any ping, I don't feel any scratchiness, the sound is quite nice in the gmmk with some dye sublimated pbt xda profile keycaps
usually better in fact, unless you get a bad batch
jwicks are nice but the leaf ping is just hot fire garbage
still jwk made
of course its not the same though, there's a reason they're at that price
you were right by the way, love this keyboard :)
you like the loudness and crispiness?
hell yea
love that you like it
its louddddd so hopefully no one upstairs minds lol
Varmilo VA69 with cherry reds, wrist rest from loha custom, varmilo dawn keycaps, coiled cable from coolcable and artisan from aliexpress
macropad is some spiderisland one from aliexpress (pretty nice honestly) with gateron milky yellows, varmilo dawn keycaps and cable from coolcable as well
Not much longer before the launch
The PE foam mod might be the most overpowered keyboard mod in existence.
(Both demos use a GMMK Pro, fully stock with unlubed Drop x Kailh Halo Clears, factory-lubed GOAT stabs, the stock aluminum plate, and Cherry profile ABS keycaps.)
PRE-MOD DEMO:
POST-MOD DEMO
It'll sound even better once I install the PC plate, Durock V2 stabs, and lube everything up.
For now, the spring ping will stay. Even so, this thing sounds a thousand times better.
Steel series apex 7 tkl or razer huntsman te?
none of the above, both are bad
If you want a TKL, Keychron C1 and HyperX Origins Core, even the GMMK TKL
What about 65 percent boards?
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k7-ultra-slim-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=39396275716185
@ionic island keychron makes the K7
This is a pre-order product, we plan to start shipping in October.Keychron K7 Wireless mechanical keyboard has included keycaps for both Windows and macOS, and users can hotswap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version.
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k6-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=31441079730265

Is there more like the hyperx?
@ionic island more like HyperX how?
Looks
Um hi I know that totally off topic but ... What is this
@ionic island wait TKL?
Yeah
Tkl is fine I checked 65 percent it's too small
Bruh you asked for 65% LOL
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-c1-wired-mechanical-keyboard
@ionic island keychron makes a hot swap c1
Keychron C1 Mechanical Keyboard. Tenkeyless Layout. Connects via wired type-c cable and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Gateron Switches. 15+ RGB Backlight
with RGB and everything

https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Keycaps-Double-Shot-Mechanical-Keyboards/dp/B08N6FFP1C/ref=sr_1_1
@ionic island
Keychron C1 RGB Hot-swappable Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for Mac Layout, Tenkeyless 87 Keys Gateron Blue Switch Double-Shot ABS Keycaps USB Type-C Cable Computer Keyboard for Windows PC Laptop
like just get a sub 20$ PBT keycap set that's black
boom gamer asthetic
Not really comes out to about the same price as the Origins Core
but the C1 is way better built
https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Bluetooth-Mechanical-Keyboard-Tenkeyless/dp/B08B5VW11S/ref=sr_1_3
@ionic island there is also a version with Bluetooth for a bit more money
Both have Gaterons anyways which are way better than anything razer or steelseries gives in their keyboards
saved 50 bucks then
yeah I hear bad things about them but dont know how to choose a better one
Just pick red:linear brown:tactile blue:clicky
well the C1 is hotswap so if you don't like the switches Klinetic labs sells like sets of 90 for like 50$
And those are hardcore enthusiast switches
but imo gaterons are good enough for most people
Does anyone knows any hot swappable keyboard with the brightest RGB?
Gamakay/ Womier
https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-Gateron-Swappable-Partitioned/dp/B08JV41PX4/ref=sr_1_5
@stoic timber
Okay nvm I regretted the RGB
https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Bluetooth-Mechanical-Keyboard-Tenkeyless/dp/B08B5VW11S/ref=sr_1_3
@stoic timber then this
I don't think it is hot swappable
it should be @stoic timber
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k8-tenkeyless-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=32018252955737
@stoic timber here is the one in the official website
Keychron K8 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. Tenkeyless Layout. Wireless or Wired. and users can hot swap every switch in seconds with the hot-swappable version. Compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux. Keychron Optical or Gateron Switches. Connect up to 3 devices. 15+ RGB Backlight
Thanks
https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Bluetooth-Mechanical-Tenkeyless-Hot-swappable/dp/B0875VG9NL/ref=sr_1_3
@stoic timber
@ionic island
oh wait this is the correct version
though lacks RGB
https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Bluetooth-Mechanical-Hot-swappable-Tenkeyless/dp/B0875SJ8FN/ref=sr_1_3
@stoic timber
@ionic island
here is RGB
actually
https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Swappable-Backlight-Blue-Switch/dp/B08CN9V7XX/ref=sr_1_3
yeah just get this
you really won't miss the bluetooth
@stoic timber here is version with no BT
About as good as Gaterons if not slightly better, though HyperX Origins Core lacks hot swap and has dogshit stabilisers
You know any place I could go to test out the different switches in person?
not really, but like they're quite similar
red = red, aqua= brown, blue=blue
basically
thanks
With the HyperX versions being a bit better
which would be better for gaming?
but both are still miles above anything Razer, cherry, or steelseries can give you
Yes they're all quite bad
Hows the software for the Hyperx?
I prefer Keychron
do they ship to canada from the official website?
I cant find them from any retailers
I believe they do have worldwide shipping
best sounding mechanical switches (colour type) I want something soft but clicky sounding any help ??
They have them in mem xpress @ionic island
Kailh Speed Bronze
Im in Canada
thanks so much
is this gud ??
Cosmic Byte CB-GK-13 Neon Rainbow Backlit Mechanical Keyboard with Brown Outemu Switch
@fierce oak if you're aiming for clicky aim for outemu blue
not click soft click sound
So tactile?
kinna
Then yeah Outemu Browns are ok for that
is it good of tactile sounds ??
it's ok
I recommend the bm80 instead of the keychrons
What would you guys say is the best mechanical keyboard under 45 dollars?
RGB doesn't matter
tecware phantom
keychron c1 hotswap no backlight
hexgears gk705/707
Is the roccat vulkan pro tkl good?
UK layout right?
just get the one without the optical switches and then it'll be "ok"
@ionic island I mean you do need the UK layout right?
bcz there are at least a dozen better keyboards that don't have UK layout
iirc yes
I was mainly talking about the tkl conversation from above
Also bm80 is only 65 bucks or something, with via support
Qwerty
I'm not in the uk
Ok thanks
What about the k6?
it's ok as long as it's hot swap @ionic island
So I have to change out the switches?
whats the highest end linear switch
any 64 key or 60% hot swappable keyboards u guys recommend? anything i can get on amazon
is the new keychron keeb worth it ?
q1 any idea if its fully metal or just like the other ones metal but only metal frame ?
also anyone know a good vendor for some nice keycaps in the uk ?
no actually
yes it's full metal
you could have figured this out by just looking at the product page
It's almost a GMMK Pro for quite a bit less, and the GMMK Pro is already a great value.
No, it's just so you have future options
whats the best linear switch when lubed and filmed including custom ones like creamsicles
types on membrane
Im trying to get a really cheap option and I am looking at the DREVO BladeMaster SE Compact TKL with rgb, does anyone know a certain keyboard they think is better,
the reality is I have never had a mechanical keyboard so I don't know what I like
I like Marshmallows
is glorious model o good for minecraft pvp and bridging?
it's nice @hardy trench but I prefer a Ninjutso
or HyperX Pulesfire Haste @hardy trench
yeah that one @hardy trench
but Pulsefire Haste + Mouse Bungee is always an option @hardy trench
ok, i was gonna get the wireless option, any alternatives?
not really imo @hardy trench
i drag click and butterfly tho, and the pulsefire mouse buttons looking kinda short and thin
Doesn't really matter, the mouse switches themselves are better on both of them
ok
not the switches, i meant the buttons on top
becasue that is what most affects butterfly playrs and drag clickers
You mean LR mouse buttons right?
yeah
no they're the worst
TTC Golden Micro and Kailh GM are way better
and they like double clicking alot
ik
double clicking is really good if you want to drag click or butterfly click
thats why most people prefer omron switches
becasue they can double click
no as in they double click unintentionally @hardy trench
like you press once and it registers two presses
yes
thats god
good
its actually better, beccause you dont need to intentionally double click it
I mean in certain games maybe
but like you'd need to have a secondary mouse for
so its really op to have a double clikcing mouse
yeah i do
i have a g402 for fps games
not a 502
That's not even a good FPS mouse
wdym
It's like over 100 grams
Even Deathadders are sub 90g
They're a fortnite player though so like aim isn't really a problem
realy?
It's fornite
What's your rank in Valo?
This Glorious PC Gaming Race Model O gaming mouse is one of the best products for $50, hands down. The Finalmouse Ninja Air58 just got bodied. Check out the Model O review!

also frank said its pretty good for fps tho
yeah but the HyperX is just better
Though if you want a broken mouse that double clicks then get that
though even in mc it's going to be quite annoying if a mouse is doubleclicking
bcz you can't control when they doubleclick
so like anything that requires long keypresses are going to be quite annoying
Like bow in minecraft requires you to hold Left mouse button right? @hardy trench
yea
yeah, double click can cause an early release
but my friend got a glorious model o wireless
and he didnt have any problems with it
I mean it's still an ok mouse
so i rented it for a week
but like if you want wireless
yea
Just get a Ninjutso
its fine in the week used it
yeah it's "ok"
but it's not great
they are all so ugly tho
It's gonna be under your hand
yea tru
it's more important that the shape is good
im a lefty
oh kk then you need ambi mouse
thats why i wanted an ambidextrous mouse
Not alot of ambi mice come with right side buttons
Razer Viper is probably the only mouse you can use as a lefty @hardy trench
Actually the Pugio II @hardy trench
it can double click though
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0874WT7ZT/ref=as_li_tl
@hardy trench Pugio II
It works for left handed people
g pro wireless not g pro x superlight
Oh yeah I guess that's ok as well
nbnbbhggffct668907569878kjhgfdswertyu';mnbvvbnmnnnnnjjjnnjnjn vvcvrsdxxxxxxxxxxx6ed xxxxxxxedsxe
sorry
umm
@junior sentinel iirc Keymove snowfox should be a better base keeb
is there an aluminum one?
oh then maybe the RK61 Pro?
idk what’s wrong with the gk61?
It's quite old
is there any diy boards i can get on amazon
Well if you really want to get one of those kits then just buy some stablisers @junior sentinel
are there any good barebones keyboards by drop?
none of them are good imo
what switches are good i need silent ones
Silenced topre
I have thousands worth of mx boards and I still think silenced hhkb is the comfiest board
KP Republic is my favorite but amazon is ok @junior sentinel
I mean that's YMDK and cuxiu storefronts
Depends on the budget… kpr and kbdfans are good I think if you want only cheap beginner stuff
They were the suggestions back when I was looking into it but that was quite a while ago now so there could be better options as well
KPR has alot of high end stuff now though
Link?
I don't think they sell many kits below 200$ now
i might get it from kbd but the shipping is harsh since i don’t live in the USA
High end is like $500+
For case only
Imo
Actually maybe more idk I haven’t followed in a while
that's a bit much
Yes it’s high end
to me
Yeah high end is the excessive luxury stuff
200 is lower to mid end
Still perfectly good, and an actually reasonable price, but there is much better available
Whether that better stuff is worth it to you depends on how you value these things
They ship from CN anyway
any boards u recommend from them
No sorry, it’s been too long since I followed the lower end
flex
i strongly believe that the hhkb is the best board
personally the best option for a cheaper board is that
you can often get them for a fair bit cheaper than retail on ebay too. some people prefer those older ones
Kpr's BM line is pretty decent for cheap
Nah realforce is where its at, hhkb layout is nice though.
the steel plate of realforce isnt as nice to me, tho i do really like tkl
need separate cable for hhkb
only kbd that doesnt support ps/2
Any 75% keyboards budget friendly prebuild or hotswap ? (300ÂŁ budget)
Keychron Q1 or GMMK Pro.
Can perform a PE foam mod for a really nice-sounding board.
I think the q1 is cheaper then the gmmk pro right
It is, ye. Hasn't launched yet.
ye i already was looking on it to get the barebone and add some c3 tangerines and a akko key cap set but i might go for the fully assembled one to save a bit more for the tangerines
but i am questioning its value and the reviews are on same day as preorder and i also have no idea of how plates work
what are the high end or the high end linears
In terms of price, hirose orange iirc.
Well depends what exactly you mean by that
Linearised neons be like
accept those
ill give you a example, black inks are mid end in high end switches
Like that? There aren't many options really. Frankenswitches like black cherry pies and vint switches is basically it
are creamsicles good
Taste. I like creamsicles personally but they're by no means good value
hey guys, i'm thinking of getting razer keyboard and mouse. I heard razer synapse had a mixed reputation of spying and copying of what one types, which wouldnt be great if one files taxes and such. Is there any truth to that?
i wouldnt get a razer keyboard anyways. mice sure but keyboard no. havent heard of any spying but one more reason to not buy their stuff
i know logitech and corsair is good, but just wondered about razer
nah dont get those either
what does one get then?
they dont buy from a gaming brand (expect ducky i guess because apparently they're good) and get something from a good brand
such as?
whats your budget and what kind of layout do you want
full key layout, and cheap, but not too cheap if that makes any sense. Maybe around 20 or 30
Yea you're gonna be stuck with redragon.
they any good?
for the price they're alright
ok. ty.
🤣
id take k552 over logitech, corsair and razer keyboards any day
Any difference between red switch, blue switch, etc etc? Or just color?
yes. they have different feel, sound, and actuation force. red and blue for example: red is a smooth linear, and blue is a clicky tactile
Smooth linear?
tactile switches have a small click when you press them. linears dont
linears are pretty good for gaming
like you press the switch and you feel a click
where the hell did you get a G15?
Had it for years
Cool. I’ve always had that g15. Got a mouse connected to usb 1.1. Not sure if it makes any difference for a mouse with usb 1 or 2
probably not since mice are usb 2 anyways
Even the higher end mice?
yeah. you're not really transferring data
True, so usb 1.1 is good enough for mice, to my understanding
not a small click
rather, a force feedback i would say
Which is pretty garbage honestly
I mean if you're relatively rich or committed it's alright
But I mean it's far past the point of diminishing returns
