i heard these switches are hella nice stock
also those keycaps what are they, they look hella nice
didn't wanna wait to buy Millmax 3305 sockets so I did a dry fit
What's a cheap keyboard with cherry mx browns? Cheapest ones I can find are equivalent of ~100 EUR. Full size would be nice
Those are amazon keycaps I think from ymdk so should be able to find them on aliexpress too.
Both switch kit feel quite nice. They don't have spring ping as far as I can tell. The tactile bump is quite shart and the lavender is a very little harder to press than the blue. They don't feel scratchy unless you press them really slowly then you can feel the spring compressing (you can feel it more on the ocean blue) They sound quite nice, the lavender purple having a slightly higher pitch. I like them both but for now I'm testing the lavender extensively. I will use the blue later this month.
Beautiful keycaps. I like them a lot ... SA profile or mt3 ?
thats mt3
Oh ... love them ... hope I can find them at a good price someday
How is the Logitech MX keys?
mediocre.
I am a programmer. Any keyboard you can suggest?
I have a mechanical, but I want a low profile as they are easier to clean
hmm
any keyboard comes up when you search the term hhkb?
also, where are you from?
India
Normal mechanical keyboards get dirty easily, cleaning them thoroughly takes so much time š¦
there
they have some decent low profile options
I believe low profile are not available in my country. @ionic briar
that sucks
well i guess you have to find one with low profile plate design in order to have easier cleaning ability
Also the MX keys will come with Logitech flow, very useful as I use multiple systems
i guess it will work then
although i can argue that you can use a kvm hardware solution instead, but whatever
kvm would add wires, I want wireless
Hi,
I'm looking for a new kb with a budget of max 170⬠(in France)
It'd need to have low latency to be able to do some gaming (in wireless if possible) and it'd great if I could easily switch between a few devices. For the size I'd like something between 65% and 80% with a look similar to the Keychron K2.
I saw the new Blackwidow V3 Mini HyperSpeed which seems very interesting but there's something that I don't really like with Razer switches (I have a Blackwidow Chroma V2 rn).
Last thing: I don't mind building it myself as long as I don't have to lube everything. I also love kb with a "thocc" sound but idk if it'd fit in the budget š
Btw ping me if you answer please
Ah good to know, was thinking of using those switches for my next build
Ungodly Design Luna DZ60
anyone got keyboard recommendations? budgets around 100 bucks
Oh ok ty
hey i'm currently using a membrane keyboard, and i'm thinking of switching to mechanical. i game but i want a keyboard which is silent because i also type essays etc on it. also i have a question on how the switches feel compared to a mechanical keyboard. i was looking into the switches and thought the mx reds or browns or the romer g linear/tactile might be a good choice? can anyone help guide me?
for reference im using a razer cynosa chroma and was interested in the logitech g pro mechanical
what keycap profile do i have to use if my keyboard has north facing led's?
Can someone make a Logitech keyboard tier list
The keywords your looking for are "silent switches", and Cherry and Gateron make some of the least expensive variants out there.
BUT you'll likely have to resort to a hotswappable keyboard, like an RK84.
You can also add o-rings for a little more dampening, at the cost of a slightly mushier feel.
what keyboard would you recommedn?
gmmk is also pretty good for a hotswap board
ye
Non-pro
GMMK Pro is also hotswappable but also barebones for $170.
Keychron Q1 coming out soon for $130.
i prefer tkl
yeeah
i have the fullsize its a very nice board
non pro obviously
price is also pretty good for just the board
i had to buy a pre built one because of country restrictions but im still happy with gateron browns xDd
How do people determine the right way to put the spacebar if it has no legends on it and seems to look symetrical
I have 3 options Iām looking at for keyboards
First razer huntsman mini optical switch for 80 usd
Second ducky one 2 mini with any switch for 100usd
Last ducky one 2 mini good in blue cherry black 45 usd used for a friend
Thatās what I was thinking
tru tru
razer mice tho š
their viper lineup is good
-_-
i have the viper mini
lod is totally fine
they fixed that bug a while ago my g
OOF
do u have the viper mini?
the only thing i have with my viper mini is that the dpi button is rattly
like it isnt firm
i like the texture on the viper mini
its like a pbt texture
Can you use the viper mini without having the software ... ? I guess yes but asking just to be sure
Also what are the out of the box dpi settings ?
yes u can
And what about the stock dpi setting?
Yes but what are they exactly ?
look it up
its 400, 800, 1200 and 6400 im pre sure
Nice thanx
looking for a wired $100 CAD tkl keyboard thats 5 pin hot swap or comes with gateron yellows
what about razer
not great
i dont remember if its 5 pin or not but keychron i think has that
just look on keychrons website
ah ok thanks
no problem!
i heard that this is the best keyboard, can't wait for it to arrive!!!
i hope its a troll
Should be
Hes in taehaās server

Yep itās a troll that acts likes like he has a Jane and hates on blue switches despite keyboards being all about preference
comfort ig
whichever one looks right. if it's symmetrical then it doesn't matter either way
what are some good key cap sets i can get in the uk ?
and what price range is good to buy some quality ones.
Epbt has decent pricing
Blue switches do suck though
preference
In my objectively subjective opinion, they suck
holy shid i just changed from mx reds to browns and i'm in love
Mx brown ... why you love them so much?
My dadās cooler master keyboard with TTC reds are really nice and thocky
tactile but still quiet enough to use in an office
prefer the bump over the reds for typing
That and I only had the option of reds, blues and browns for this keyboard
That is sad ...
What do you use?
Multiple kind of switched
Linear : gateron yellow
Clicky : kailh box white and kailh box navy and also the hideous outemu blue
Tactile : cherry brown (underwhelming), halo true, kailh box burnt orange, kailh speed copper, kailh silent box brown, akko ocean blue, akko lavender purple ... also tried kailh brown and cherry blue for some time ...
that's a lotta keyboards
No such thing as enough keyboards
it's not keyboard... it's switches
Anyone ever tried this?
Likes Gat Yellow, hates MX Brown. Strange meta
Only the cherry brown are soldered in the durgod fusion
ah fair
fair
MX brown makes a lot more sense when considered as a midpoint between a tactile and linear imo
Yes it's a mid point but you really don't experience good tactility with them
Gaming on "good" tactiles is kinda rough, but MX brown is quite acceptable
I won't be gaming at all on mine
I'd go with a silent switch variant for office use, anything else and someone is going to complain unless you have your own office with a door
probably
Do you feel like it needs an upgrade? If yes thenā¦yes
I donāt rlly think I need an upgrade
Definitely the cheaper option. That said most of the people I've had try a mech board eventually bought their own.
any websites in the uk for custom keyboard parts?!
@unkempt dome didnt u say u have a snowfox?
i just got reccomended a mod that makes it sound so much better
i love mine even more now
sounds like a custom almost
Yes I have the snowfox @chrome raft
What is that mod ?
masking tape all on the back of the pcb
just a coat of masking tape
makes it sound wayy better
Masking tape or electric tape ?
Also I know that mine has a neoprene sheet in the case
masking tape
i can guide u through it in a bit if u want
Well I'm on break at work so clearly not now ;)
np
i think ill get a kbd67 lite and mints for my birthday
u think thats a good idea
?
Do you guys know a seller doing custom pbt cap sets?
I do have a quite special layout. Bought the Keychron K2 with US layout, but living in Austria hat to do some searching to find german keycaps for the ISO layout ^^
Would like to have PBT caps, though.
Unfortunately it is quite difficult to find any decent sets in german. It seems they are only produced for US/CA/UK marketā¦
I already checked with a company in Taiwan, but they had a minimum order of 500 sets xD
i think i've seen some on Etsy
Yes
Hi what would be the best mechanical keyboard for under 100 pounds?
What size?
I took a loo
Is the hyperx alloy origins a good keyboard? Or a Logitech g513?
If I have to choose one it's gonna be the hyperx one.
^
Hey lam I modded my keeb a bit
What about either of the hyperx elites are they any good?
Tbh ifk
-idk
What is yr budget btw
Under £100 if possible but will go a bit over
What size do you want
Probs full but would take a nice tkl
I reccomend keychron with gateron yellows
And mabye hotswap
But yea, the hyperx is quite nice
wat is best
Yh Iāve looked at those but Iām from England and donāt know if they deliver here and donāt have the same layout
i reccomend reds
ok so i bought a rgb keyboard and when the led's are on, theres a weird high pitched noise, very quiet but noticeable when im not wearing headphones, just wondering if this is normal
i looked it up and theres some forum posts saying the same thing
and the brighter the light setting the louder the noise
mainly coming from one area
In my opinion reds
Hello there
whats a good cheap 65% kit
nk65 ee, kbd67 lite, tofu65
wear headphones = u wont hear it
which one is the best
they're all pretty equal in terms of quality and around the same price iirc
although nk65 entry editions are kinda hard to come by in-stock
Keyboard coil whine @fast socket
doesnt always work
taeha tried in on matrix me with wilds and it sounded like hot shit after the mod
š
dont let others doubt your decision
also ive seen a lot of people here shitting on clickys when what they themselves are using isnt objectively better
just because you have linears/tactile doesnt make you any better then people then use clickys
learn to respect people's choices and not be a dick by making people feel bad about their preference
Ive only used 2 mechanical keyboards so far
One was a cheap 20 dollar one with blues
And now i got the razer huntsman mini
Would you rather go for vortex race3 or keychron k2 with additional pbt keycaps/q1 with pbt
Q1 would be released later this year do I'd have to wait and it's definitely more pricey than the others
Having some sort of programmability (no need for software) and ability to use some keys as numpad keys with a layer is important
Hey guys! I am new into mechanical keyboards. I know types of switches and small info. I plan on buying a pc or a laptop. So could someone please reccomend some good switches for a begginer?
how many switches do you need, what type of switches do you prefer, where are you from?
TKL, Tactile , Bosnia
Thank you very much!
Hey guys, I bought a razer cynosa chroma brand new, and when i plugged it in, some of the keys were not working. What could be wrong?
iirc they are x, c, b, o and i
I pushed them a little harder, and still nothing happened
Does the RGB still work?
Yes, it does.
Can you pull out the keycaps of the problematic keys?
You're likely gonna have to refund or RMA it anyway but we'll see what we can do.
Anyone have recommendations on how i can lube my razer blackwidow v3 pro? I tried watching a few videos but none are clear enough and i cant figure out how to make my stabilizers quiet
Desolder the switches, remove the stabs, replace them by durock stabs, resolder the switches
But seriously if you want to lube the stabs you usually have to desolder the switches to do it properly unless your keyboard is hotswappable but since it's a razer I just supposed it's soldered ... but I could be wrong
Yeah its soldered, i dont really have the skill for desoldering so i dont want to damage the keyboard
thats the biggest issue im running into currently
I've seen people just use spray lube and hit it straight on the top of the switch but that doesnt seem right to me idk
You could try to get a really thin brush and be able to insert some lube from the top between the moving part and the housing of the stabs but that will be hard
what lube would you recommend?
Thin brush or syringe to inject the lube there
Lot of peolem use dielectric grease for stabs
I think krytox 205g0 will also do fine
Dielectrig grease is pretty common in auto part stores and such
alright, is that safe to use on both the stabs and switches?
Here I bought mine at canadian tire
I would not use dielectric grease on switches as it's quite thick
Also to properly lube the switches you .most likely have to desolder and open them
what about that wd40 that is meant for electronics?
i figured
I don't know long term if it will dissolve the plastic
I'm far from a switch lube expert tho others will be able to tell you more probably
Which switches do you have ?
green switches
The clickies ones ?
They have mechanism inside to make them noisy
im not really concerned about it being dead quiet i just want to dampen it a little bit
i know its always gonna be noisy
You don't lube clicky switches
Unless you out some dampening foam inside the board and be able to lube stabs ... there's not much more to do ...
I suggest you sell the keyboard and get another one with good tactiles or linear
it is under warranty still so i could probably just exchange it lol, thanks for your input š
I've looked in to it but im just such a razer geek lol, i love having all my rgb controlled by one thing but if i have to make a switch i will
I don't use rgb ... way easier that way
but rgb is life XD
People do spray lube tutorials
Idt you should lube greens
The idea of lubing greens disturbs me
Makes me want to 3D print little trumpets to make them louder
Guys, what is the best app/method to remap keys? I have keychron k4v2 which is not qmk/via compatible.
I need the right click shortcut.
OpenRGB exists
it's pretty cool
open source RGB control
3 months
guys i need help to buy peripherals for a guy budget 500 dollars
what does he need
keyboard + mouse + headphones?
if its just keyboard you can get a decent custom build
yeah
his build discussion is over
#build-a-pc 7k dollar build
he needs a mouse keyboard and a monitor big enough for designing
lmao
im making his build
he gave me just this i have 7 k want to do designing and simulation
build is done need just keyboard mouse and monitor
Is there any easy way to fix one button on the keyboard not working
If you can somehow take apart the switch and look inside, do that.
desolder
easy way probably not but one switch shouldent be too difficult
can you give me some choices please ive been so confused
choices for keyboards?
all three
What does he need for his mouse?
he has a huge hand
hmm
thats what he said and comfort
g502?
Just comfort? Does he need more buttons? What mouse shape does he need?
keyboards I cant say too much because i build customs
cant advice on headphones either
he will be doing work for more than 5 hours continuously
mx master 3 time?
monitors ?
That doesn't help in the slightest, since comfort is dependent on the user.
Does he see himself using many buttons as well?
sorry cant advice on that either
well since hes gonna work for long macros would be quite helpful
i like g502 for that
Yeah.
Just wanted to make sure though.
G502 has 19 effective buttons with G-Shift.
If he needs more, there's always the Swiftpoint Z.
what is the difference between optical and laser ?
Curved?
Im not really good with monitors
logitech gpro ?
He doesn't need more than 5 buttons?
more than 3 buttons
3 is good enough for designing
It's alright. Depends on the person.
he will only be designing
so i guess no rgb and fancy stuff
i think lets leave keyboard on him and go for the monitor
since he would be designing id assume he wants the most colour accurate monitor as possible
no he is doing cad and stuff
hmm
why dosent ltt have a voice channel
Because it's difficult to moderate.
Leopold keyboard then
how much budget does he have left for board, mouse, monitor?
Helloooo, so I'm thinking of getting the RK84 one of these days but I also want to get new keycaps
And like quality keycaps
Where should I go or what website do you guys recommend getting keycaps?
Would like to get light blue caps
Appreciate it.
What's your budget for caps?
@crude pelican what's your budget for caps and where are you from?
Honorable mentions go to drop artifact bloom, gpbt and enjoypbt abs options.
heard that epbt abs had some interference issues with even south facing
and the Q key is scuffed so id say dont get the abs ones
For it's price, at least it's slightly better than your typical 2shot shine through.
I would not imaging op has enough money to buy gmk or sp stuff
cheap and high quality double shot id defo recommend taihao
oem profile too so no interference
Actually not true IIRC.
@opaque shore
They explain it in the article this picture is from:
https://www.backblaze.com/blog/backblaze-hard-drive-stats-for-2020/
For drives which have less than 250,000 drive days, any conclusions about drive failure rates are not justified. There is not enough data over the year-long period to reach any conclusions. We present the models with less than 250,000 drive days for completeness only.```
Holy shit their quarterly data reaches the GBs damn.
im bored ok
yea, sorry m8,
come in #build-a-pc
hello ppl im looking for a good linear, optical, cherry mx like switch. If you have any suggestions pls tell me
by cherry mx like i mean as in hot swappable and just like gaterons and other switches that share the same layout of pins and dont need soldering (i know how to solder but dont wanna solder so many switches just for a 65% keyboard
what are the best clicky switch
by feel or by CLICK!
So optical but not optical???
something like that, pretty much why I never responded to that.
feel i already got the best CLICK! switch
get optical cause fornite gamer switch š„š„š„šÆšÆšÆ
buy apex pro and take the switches out
I meant as in socket shape
Gateron optically silvers
I want something just like gateron optical silvers with similar actuation force but can allow light to go through for rgb (ik the silvers can let light through i want it to be just like that)
@ionic briar Umm, I'm just asking out of curiosity so I don't have "budget"
But if I guess, I'll pay maybe up to 50 bucks
Anything below
I'm just trying to get familiar with keycaps
Kailh Box Navies and Jades are some nice clickies
there aren't that many other options tho
I like amber alps
no like you can barely feel it at all
hmm
your fingers are stronk then
it should at least be more tactile than cherry blue
have you tried jades or navies tho?
no
i only have box whites, kaihua blues and cherry blues
oh yeah i forgot to ask this earlier
whats the best tkl keyboard kit for around $150
like only the case and pcb and plate and stabilizers
and stuff like that
oof so close
theres the id80 for 200
ight ill check it out
oh its that one 75%
i have a drop ctrl rn and i really like the tkl layout
whoops wrong one
https://drop.com/buy/idobao-id87-v2-tkl-mechanical-keyboard-kit
ight thanks
If youāre willing to use taobao there is a nice kit 150 usd before shipping and taxes
Any good and cheap keyboard?
what about the gmmk pro? i think it's good. you maybe need other stabilizers (like i did, durock v2), but apart from that it's a nice kb
Any recommendations for a keyboard
100% RGB preferably and up to around 90-100 pounds
gotta take an updated pic as the two white TKLs are gone but I'm satisfied with them so far
reverse side, not much to see from the Koreans
Its a bit box-checky bit it holds up with a little work
sheeesh
ight
i dont like them
75s are love it/hate it kind of thing for sure
gmmk pro sounds pretty good when you put a bit of work and a bti of money into it the base kit I gree doesnt sound too great. but again it's a $160 kit not a $300 one
It sounds bad compared to even boards from the same price range
Bakeneko easily sound better
however the GMMK Pro is in-stock and not a group buy
Someone just told the me model F is better than the model M
From what I understand of those ... yes it is
Cause model f is not a membrane board
Model f is capacitive which support nk rollover ... the model m doesn't
Wonder if anyone could help me. Got a Logitech g413 but the spacebars cooked, if I take the key so off the switch works fine and the stabilisers are both connected and freely moving, but once the key cap is on the spacebar barely works
anything i can try to do, as im sure me trying to dig them out for a warranty claims gonna be a pain in in the rear
Most prefer capacitive bs to membrane, it's not necessarily a all around better board thx to layout etc
just like every hobby gottea be comfortable with what you have in comparison to others
fair enough
Bakeneko is in stock?
model f feels better but model m sounds better at least based on chyros
Still sacrilege
Also, capacitive boards tend to have more issues over time from what Iāve learned
lol Chyro isn't the be all end all when it comes to vints
At the end of the day itās preference
Try it out for yourself
Then make the decision
its better to just buy a model f remake now anyway if the guy is still selling them
those things have massive flip potential
oop are they? I'm dumb
anyone with a corsair try out the nexus yet? was wondering if its worth it
finally upgraded from a very old hyper x keyboard to something new.
CTRL High Profile, MX Browns, HyperX Pudding Caps.
New to this whole scene... whats next
getting a switch thats actually tactile
preference -_-
I'm used to mx blues. The browns were to try out really. Ideally I'd like something more stiff.
by stiff do you mean more tactile or heavier weight
More resistance in the keypress.
ideally if you can try out some u4ts
By far my favorite part of my build haha
Some redragon K530RGB build I guess
Anyone know a monitor under 120? sorry me dumb asking in keyboards
what full size keyboard should i get, nothing fancy i just want fullsize with hot swappable keys
hexgears gk707, hexgears gemini
this one too
both of those are TKL
so it would be Impulse and GK705 for Hexgears
What is pain there ?
Clean it?
i lubed my membraned keyboard š
testing the akko ocean blue now ... so similar to lavender purple but also diffƩrent
the progressive spring is a bit strange for me since it's my first time trying a switch with one
well you're not supposed to use the keyboard like that anyway ... people usually use keycaps
no shit sherlock
my laptops keyboard is kinda strucking even for a shy of 40 wpm for 10 min straight
Can anyone link some cheap 60% keyboards preferably on amazon uk or anywhere that ships to Ireland for cheap
Like under 30 euro
Itās for a kid so switched and that wonāt matter that much
Rk61?
Is apex pro good?
@elfin pawn Keyboard
Like most gaming peripherals, they're primarily about the features than build quality.
oh
Partially why many gaming keyboards are 100% and are paired with software.
so gaming brands are trash
So it's up to you to decide what you want.
No not necessarily
i want the mechanical feel kinda
customs are better?
Like I don't see any Keycults with the ability to very easily assign macros, for example.
If you want both then you go to Glorious for that.
ye
If you don't mind not having software, there's the RK84.
I think that's cheaper too.
hmm
wdym? That's so easy to do with QMK
oh
men, i've found my endgame.
I've searched far and wide, sailed the seven seas and climbed the tallest mountains. I've traveled to the edges of the world, and tried everything from Cherry Reds to Holy Bobas. All in a vain pursuit of this beauty. No matter what I did, no matter what I tried, I never felt satisfied. I thought I would never find my ...
lol, esc button go weeeeeeeeeee
hey gius
Case : GMMK Pro White Ice £120
Switches : Lubed Filmed Alpaca V2 £103
Stabs : Lubed Durock V2 £5.76
Foam : PE Foam £5.99
i guess this is slightly budget for a custom but
what else would i need to dampen the sound ?
The foam included is more then enough
Also there is already pe foam in the gmmk pro packaging
What's a good gaming keyboard
right okay thanks both
i wont bother with the PE foam then
Sound test of my first ever custom keyboard build.
Keyboard: GMMK Pro - Black Slate
Switches: Alpacas v2 | Kyrtox 205g0 | 0.15mm TX Films
Stabs: Durock v2
| Krytox 205g0 | Holee Modded
Plate: Aluminum
Foam:
Case foam and PCB Foam
Keycaps: Glorious GPBT Arctic White
Deskmat: Monokei Celestial Dark
This is my very first custom keyboard buil...
just trying to achieve this
which
you arent going to ngl
whys that
youre trying to achieve the sound like the sound test you linked?
yes
yea
there are so many factor affecting the sound test that yours will 99% not sound like whatever you aiming at
stuff like how hard you type versus the sound test man makes a difference
so for what reason would i not be able to replicate it?
everything
whats the surface you put your board on, how thick is your desk mat, what type of mic the sound test use, the physical dimension of the room that the sound test audio is recorded, what type of keycaps, how hard is the soundtest guy hit the switches, so on and so forth
so what is the point of sound tests if its not to record what the sound of a combination of board sounds like?
to give you an idea of whats the general sound profile you would have with a board
and mostly
to satisfy the nerds that like a good sound test
is the board pingy, is it hollow, dense, is each key sounds the same or not and whatnot
those are things that you can pull out from a rando sound test
using a sound test as a benchmark for your own build in your own environment will result in you most likely definitely not going to match what you heard
then i guess i will have to replicate the enviroment to achieve it then
yea
which mean you have to bust into the guy's room, using his setup to do so
so good luck
yeah can try that
Hi I need something like that but with USB receiver any one as an idea?
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
To be fair, listening to the soundtest there it just sounds like any other GMMK Pro, mostly cos the GMMK Pros dampen switch sound so much that everything sounds so similar anyway
it doesn't sound like anything special was going on there, it's just a dime in a dozen.
Though honestly I advise that you wait and see how the Keychron Q1 is over getting the GMMK Pro
at worst the Q1 would be equal to a GMMK Pro so no real downside to waiting
0:03 Gateron G Phantom Red
1:42 Gateron G Phantom Brown
3:21 Gateron G Phantom Blue
Keychron Q1 will launch on August 24th at 9:00 AM EST.
The early bird price will be 169$ for the basic kit (include the phantom switches and ABS keycaps).
Subscribe at this link to get notified when it is released to pre-order: https://www.keychron.com/pages/...
Already sounds better
mic kinda scuffed there tbh
from the early pictures they had it always looked like the top right was only either the logo badge, or rotary.
having it be a switch up there looks best imo
stock switches in that so it kinda makes sense that it sounds like that
Straighten the stabilizer wire is one.
Clip off the extra legs on each stabilizer stem helps with a more solid bottom out.
Might want to look into o ring mounted yours if you want a softer bottom out feel and more uniform typing sound
Welcome to Keybored! THE GK61 - The Entry Keyboard that COULD! O-Ring Mod for Sound and Feel
Ever since the start of my channel, the one keyboard video that got the most amount of interest was how I O-Ring Modded the TOFU65 for that crisp and even sound and feel.
Since that TOFU65 video, there has been a lot of requests to visit the GK serie...
Oh no I have GK68
Here's the mod being done on the smaller gk61
I mean just applied the same general method
68 is after all another tray mount like the 61 but now with even more mounting points
How do I estimate the o ring size though
In the vid there are measurements for the o ring themselves
Oh kk
https://www.amazon.com/COSTOM-Keycaps-Sublimation-Switches-Mechanical/dp/B08V4H2PLB/ref=as_li_ss_tl?dchild where can i find this set but with rnglish writing?
I've had a keyboard on order for a month and it's looking like this one is just in way too high of a demand for me to feasibly get one any time soon. I'm looking for an alternative. My requirements are a TKL form factor, with tactile or equivalent switches (not linear, not clicky, not up to terms with all the different switch names sorry), with at least RGB backlit illumination, all for a budget of $130. The board I currently have on order meets all of these requirements, so I'm just looking for a similar alternative, any suggestions are appreciated.
HyperX Origins Core @unreal current
Aqua is what they call their tactiles
It's the best GAMING keyboard but as a mechanical keyboard it's just mediocre
But it's in your budget and the switches are above average even compared to akko and gaterons
Well, I'm currently using a $55 Corsair K55 with rubber domes, so all it's gotta be is better than that.
Well yeah then get the HyperX Origins Core Aqua(?) Switches
For tactiles
Imo it's easily the best beginner mechanical keyboard
Alright, thanks. The board I've had on order is the Steelseries Apex 7 TKL with their rebranded brown switches, but it's pretty expensive for what it is and the quality of the materials used. The HyperX is quite a bit cheaper, and the Steelseries had hardwired USB-A (2 of them, actually) instead of detachable USBC, so that's a big plus.
DON'T
Don't do Steelseries keebs
I really do mean that the HyperX Origins Core is the best GAMING style keyboard
Bcz everyone else is very trash
The reviews on the steelseries claim that it will break in two months and they'll refuse to replace it, but my sister has had the same model for over a year and hasn't had any issues, so I thought I could overlook it, but then they kept pushing my order back every time the delivery date got close. My current keyboard is quickly deteriorating, so spending this long waiting for a new one has been a pain, so I'm just gonna cancel it and look into getting a HyperX.
Yes please do that, it's a superior keyboard
Like Steelseries is quite literally like Tecware Phantom tier like those 40-50$ Chinese keebs @unreal current
I mean sure they're indestructible but like they're not really that good mechanical keyboards
k552 is also indestructible ... but it takes a lot of work to make it sounds good
The switches are like never going to be as good as HyperX switches though
never said it would
also there's better switches than the hyper x ones
and switches is a matter of preference anyway
Not in most prebuilts
varmilo
Yeah I was about to say that
HyperX is the second best stock switch
After Varmillo
any prebuilt that offers kailh or outemu switches
yeah gateron
hyperx source their switche at kailh
Like actually HyperX are better
Yeah but Kailh prebuilt switches are pretty bad
You only have the low end box switches and the speed switches
Like the best one I can think of is box white
Other than that it's just below average
bcz I don't know any keyboards that come with Jades
So like It's Varmillo at the top and Kailh Box White and HyperX share number 2
jade are the same as white except with thicker click bar ...
and it's a matter of preference
Yeah white is too light ngl
jade and white have the same spring
Isn't the tactile force of the jade like way higher
as high as the navy cause they have the navy clickbar but the white spring
Navy has pale blue spring ik
Yes ik bcz the novelkeyz box clicked have thicker clickbars
Look tbh, I said myself that HyperX Origins is just a mediocre mechanical keyboard. It's just god tier compared to the other GAMING styled keebs @unkempt dome
yeah build quality wise, feature wise
switches are a matter of preference tho ... some strange people like mx brown ... some don't
Idk though I'd say that the vast majority of people would appreciate the better made switches in the Origins Core
maybe, maybe not
Yeah ik some people like sandpaper
one can't know before testing them
that's why I try to get more and more switches so I can know what I talk about
maybe some day I'll get a keyboard with aqua switches
I've been able to try almost all of the GAMING switches and most prebuilts Chinese ones including Huano
Worst ones are deffo Romer-G
that's what I heard yeah
the major thing about gaming prebuilt is that often you can have a better keyboard if you get something hotswappable with the switches and keycaps of your choice for the same price
Well yeah but like for beginners, just get an Origins Core @unkempt dome
That's my opinion
Since idk if there are Tecwares in the USA
I would say just check out keychron keyboard or gmmk
So as opposed to Steelseries, who have repetitively pushed my order back for like 5 weeks now, and reportedly have shit customer service, the Best Buy where I work literally has the HyperX Origins Core series in stock right now, and I know that if something is wrong I can get my money back. At this point, I just need any new keyboard because my current one is borked, so I'ma just pick up the HyperX tomorrow and go about my life. Thanks @chrome raft
Yup that's good
Aqua switch is the one you're aiming for since you said tactile but not clicky @unreal current
Yup, it's $83, so a whole 30 bucks off what I would've spent on the Apex 7
Well by being a not trash keyboard it just wins by default
Like I mean it just had to beat like Razers and Logitechs
Like it's not that hard to beat literal trash e-waste
GAMING as in like GAMING advertised
Like polling rate differences are so irrelevant
Like as long as it's 1000hz it's not a problem
Literally the PG Riptide marketing thing
Like no noticeable difference
That's GAMING
Bcz it's obnoxious and annoying
The HyperX has the best switches and build quality among it's GAMING brand piers
well there's not best switches as it is a preference and personal choice ...
some won't be able to game on those
but will be on speed silver
Well yeah I guess. But like the machining is better on them at least and they're smoother than stock Gaterons from when I tried them.
I mean ducky is technically yeah but Varmillo I don't think so
And ducky is worse than HyperX
Similar build quality but cherry switches are an oof
Ducky has been going downhill by quite alot
Only the Hyperglides
The standard cherries are still standard cherries
Do Duckys even come with those?
I've only seen Leopold's with hyperglides
there's some CRP sets with hebrew sublegends iirc
not sure if these are clones but I found these guys with sublegends seem well priced but I have no clue how good KP republic caps are https://kprepublic.com/products/kprepublic-140-hebrew-root-font-letter-cherry-profile-dye-sub-keycap-set-pbt-for-gh60-xd60-xd84-cospad-tada68-rs96-87-104-fc660

thanks but already found them!
i guess just practice and knowing how to touch type
Yeah, just practice
Just make sure you have good form
Instead of practicing with bad typing form and just reinforcing the bad habits
you can type any way you want some people can type over 150 with two fingers
but for me i just have to keep typing until i improve lol
just because some people can do it, doesn't mean that their form is good for their ergonomics and health
not to mention that with better typing form, and using more fingers, you would be faster than you would be with less fingers
Does the Omotom Keyboard work on Android? It's design and marketing is for Apple products.

Hello, does anyone know if corsair keyboards are worth the cost?
guys what sound do pla plates make does it make it more thoccier?
no they are super trash tier keyboards
get a HyperX Origins Core or a Keychron instead
though if you can find a Corsair K70 or something for 40$ it'll be average enough for the price
thanks
how many keyboards are there, that aren't actually keyboards...
I am sure there are better options than keys for max typing speed
My new desktop after waiting literal months for nousemods to ship their first product

Hi,
Is Epomaker a good brand ?
yes
they are pretty good
they sell rebranded GK kits
though check out Keychron first @carmine mica
they might be cheaper for a hot swap keyboard
ok ty
Yeah I've been waiting for the release of the q1 for days but I want to see the alternatives
oh kk
Oh then yeah Epomaker will be trash compared to Q1 @carmine mica
Epomaker sells budget kits you'll have to manually mod them if you want to get a keyboard close to the Q1
Yeah but I'll have to see if it'll be available here, in France
And having bluetooth would be nice, not necessary tho
Hey all, so I'm kinda new to the keyboard market, but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a small (tkl,75, or 65) keyboards that are easy to customize...
thanks!
sheeeeeesh, TGR
Keychron is a big brand though
is this a good keyboard?
Oh I recognize that OEM @turbid jungle absolute dogshit the soldering on those are very bad you WILL pop sockets on those things
really?
Yes
any recommendations for a better one @chrome raft
I really like the form factor of 65% but the arrow keys are seperated
Epomaker GK kit @turbid jungle
This is quite hard ngl as there are only custom kits with that that have hotswap
If you are extremely extremely careful, it might still work @turbid jungle
Or like if you just never change the switches
@chrome raft thanks! I'm new to the world that is custom keyboards so thanks
The hot Swap sockets on those things are soldered on quite bad so it is pretty easy to just break them off the pcb
Rn I'm using a Kemove DK63 with brown switches and I really dont like it for some reason...
oh ok thanks
Yeah but I'm just worried about the taxes of import
There are no distributors of Keychron in France or Germany?
https://www.keychron.com/pages/where-to-buy
@carmine mica you can buy from other EU contries right?
We are currently looking to expand our global reach to our customers. If you are a distributor interested in selling our products (wholesale), please contact us at sales@keychron.com
Yeah, there are but do you think that a custom keyboard like the Q1 will be sold by distributors ?
Q1 isn't custom though it's still a prebuilt
it's just going to be sold by whoever carries Keychron
it's like the GMMK Pro, if they carry the brand, they'll get it in shelves
@carmine mica it'll come to retail stores but you'll just have to wait a bit
it's going to be a super high demand item after all
ok ok thanks
Btw yesterday I was looking for some GMMK Pro here but there are only 2 retailers and they sell it at 250⬠x)
EU import taxes
aka tarrifs
yeah that's always painful, seeing american youtubers saying "it's only 175$" which should be 150⬠and it's actually 100⬠more š
wat is sexy tkl rgb red switch

it's a pretty bad keyboard
it's definitely a bottom tier keyboard
uber cheap switches, uber cheap build quality, cheap stabilizers
AAAAAAA
Awesome
g213 is good
the office keyboard?
Logitech Keyboards are worse than razer btw
ok im getting a razer huntsman mini then
g213 is literally one of those 10$ "mechanical feel" keyboards
LOL
you can just get a HyperX Origins Core @warped flower
g213 feels actually decent for a membrane
eyah
Or Origins mini
it's too expensive for a membrane that feels really close to some a4tech office keyboards
i mean he is alr using it
if its fine i see no reason to change
if keypresses are still registering then no need to change @warped flower
ok
i have the corsair k63 wireless and im looking into getting a new board any suggestions
budget, switch preference, where are you from? do you need wireless board?
budget 80-100 usd, ive only ever has cherry mx reds but i will try anything out, south east usa, i do not just got the k63 for free from a friend
do you prefer an excessive amount of rgb?
https://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-swappable-Support-Lighting/dp/B08BX7QPFW
this is what i mean by excessive
https://kono.store/collections/all-products-list/products/gemini-dusk
and this is more typical in terms of amount of rgb
also, gmmk: https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/gmmk-full-brown-switch
Womier 87 Key K87 Mechanical Keyboard 80% 87 TKL PCB CASE hot swappable Switch Support Lighting Effects with RGB Switch led (Womier 87 HS Gateron Black x1)
The Gemini Dusk mechanical keyboard pairs warp speed input with super-bright RGB LEDs and advanced programming features ā it's the ultimate gaming peripheral. A machined all-metal case, custom PBT doubleshot keycaps, and hot-swap switch sockets set the Gemini Dusk light years ahead of lesser offerings.
i think ill the the gmmk because it will match my model O
matching in what tho?
also, its out of your budget
10 meh
and their stock switch (without diving in the configurator) besides gateron red is rather meh.
eh, not representative of the whole board experience as you can only use 1 finger at a time
but whatever
i think you should try and see which type of switches you prefer the most
and then i can work out some recommendation
can anyone recommend me a tkl or a fullsize with fast switches? i would app it very much
fast as in like optical or just linears?
also budget
either or, i will be playing osu with this keyboard if that helps
https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Keyboard-Hotswappable-Mechanical-821-W1-15US-KR/dp/B08VNT658R/ref=sr_1_6
@chrome raft
Whatever you do, do NOT get the Z20 @chrome raft
it is trash
but yeah Z15 comes with kailh speed silvers
basically cherry speed silvers but way way better @chrome raft
the wrist wrest detatchable?
yup @chrome raft
Magnetic actually
@chrome raft un related question im just wondering for future stuff, but when ordering froma company on amazon like logy or evga, do you get there warranty? or is it just amazons said warranty
you keep receipt and complete packaging, and then contact EVGA
tough you could also just get it from there website @chrome raft
can anyone suggest a tkl keyboard under 100
cad or usd
Oh wow 30$ more kekw
gbp
regardless i will get on aamzon and just keep everything, thanks for telling me about this keyboard

where can you find Keychrons in USA? @ionic briar
well keychron own website?
I mean UK
oh yeah I forgot about those @rotund osprey yeah disregard my suggestion
ooh box switches
boxes is fun
i lifted the spacebar keycap and thw switch go stuck to it and now it doesnt work if i replace the switch will it fix it?
whats the underside of the switch looks like?
also, your keyboard is a hotswappable one?
idk its a g413
it ooks normal
but i could easily take it out and put it back it so i think i would need a new switch and solder it
oh its romer g
no, if the yeeted out switch bronze pins are fine, you can just resolder it back
okay thx
@chrome raft
^
I personally prefer reds and many others agree with me
Blues aināt that great in my opinion
They ping like crazy
just sold my laptop and now i'm in market for a laptoplike keyboard. wireless and cheapo, any suggestions?
magic keyboard? dont know the price tho
thats 100usd
ah
are there even any alternatives to K380 in this classification
What about Keychronās slim keyboards?
maybe if they go in sale, even then, i'm looking for a non mechanical
What is your budget
hey do any of you know where i could find custom keycaps sets for non standard layouts (azerty)
š New Keyboard came! @potent void
Ayy
its a 60% with odd spacing bottom row for arrow keys
so yea, no wonder, its tiny compare to a full size
Foot for scale
Lmao
It's so tiny, but man is it great not moving to move my entire body over just to reach the typing keys
Which works especially well on my keyboard tray
Because it's small
And that large keyboard literally give me about..... 4 inches diameter of mouse movement
It also feels similar to that IBM keyboard that my parent's got lying around
which ibm?
can i see the backside of the ibm?
might be a gem for mech nerds
its a very interesting board
currently waiting for my ibm board lover to run the fcc id

Cool
very neat board with neat vint switch
clean it up and you got one decent clicky board
xD So it is a linear clicky keyboard
No wonder why it feels similar to new one
Or really, the new one feels similar to that one
Skip to 9:15 for a typing demonstration.
Today we finally look at a Futaba clicky switch keyboard! One of the weirdest switches I've ever tried. Hope you enjoy it!
My other keyboard reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL285ATFsHGY9JnaQemdjRLEMmLRKpmbfB
I'm Thomas and I do videos and reviews on mechanical keyboards ranging from the ...
you mean cherry mx blue?
The new keyboard doesn't have cherry mxs
gateron?
a cherry blue copycat with smoother housing and more keycap wobble
for clicky i would prefer good old buckling spring or the box clicky series
Eh, it's fine what the price point I got the keyboard for
yee
We still got the computer that came with it
That still powers on too
It came with this keyboard training program.. forgot the name but my mom has several versions across different OSs
tfw you were able to change the address on an order, without any info other than previous address and name
Gotta love moving to a new place almost directly after GB ends, and having to get someone else to order it because of it, but then issues make it no longer a viable option
OOf what happened? @crimson isle
Had to move to a new place, and would've arrived around christmas, so I decided to ask if family where I would be going could order it, but now with all the family issues, it would've just been a few hundred euros of loss..
I am even surprised mailing them to ask if they could change address without any info is working
other than some info like address, email and name of course
Ah
while I won't get any mail or notification about its arrival, it is fine
What was it you ordered?
try to make a guess why I put it in this chat
xD I know it's a keyboard
just the whole bundle of something new in june-july
I liked it, so why not (other than me yesterday opening my mailbox, and seeing my costs for 2022 january, rip 2000 eur extra)
Probably won't be doing anything until then
Oof
Hi, does anyone know where I can buy PBT Keycaps for the Keychron Q1 in a french layout (with the accents) ?
can't you just swap around the keycaps and layout?
that works if you got a keycap profile with the same height and no contour curve
otherwise it will create a very weird feeling when the swapped out keys are not uniform to the rest of the keys in the row
aren't the keycaps on that thing just standard though
unless he/she just wants a whole different appearance of course
eh not really
look how the a key is shorter than the q key in the promo pic
if they are to swap the a and q key, the q key will be taller than the rest of the home row keycap, whereas the a key will be shorter than the rest of the top row key caps
its standard, in that the whole keycaps set has guidelines on manufacturing specification for each row
whether or not it has a contour curve or not, whats the height of each row of the keycap set, is it uniform acorss each row
