I prefer a nice tactile bump, so my keyboard has Drop/Kailh Halo Clears.
Not lubed yet, but soon™️
May switch to Neapolitans though. I want to try some heavier tactiles.
Cool, I have no idea what those switches are but I'll find out sooner or later 😂
Still very fresh into the keyboard game
I know my cherry mx, blues, red, blacks, browns......
Fair enough. There are quite literally thousands of different switches.
Thankfully, there's solace in knowing there will never be a perfect switch for you without making your own, so it's best to do research on the switches you may potentially like.
And that's about it, the basic stuff 😂
Wtf is this screw placement
Fair enough.
I'm confused looking at it....what am I looking at? 😂
Help
I think i may have broke my keyboard
Im on my phone
Most of the keys dont work
Why did i do that
Back to crappy keyboard then
:(
oof
Ima go eat then try to fix it
Alr
What are the best switches for a silent gaming keyboard
Maybe Silent Cherry Reds or Silent Box Pinks with lube and o-rings.
idk
Are they cheap
O-rings can make your keyboard a little mushier but hey, anything to silence.
Ok
Cherry Silent Reds, maybe.
What is a keyboard with no num pad but function keys and arrow keys? What are they called?
Blue or brown switches?
what kind
Reddragon?

Can you dm the invite

Tap the bottom left of the emote.
hey can i please get recommendations for 70% keyboards?
gateron silents?
Royal Kludge RK84? It's a 75%.
Oh yeah that too.
Gmmk pro? It's 75%.
Also satisfaction 75.
Do you have a budget?
ap2 for £65, Ducky one 2 mini for £115 or gmmk white ice for £80 or VA108M for £130
Just one thing about gmmk pro you need to buy your own switches and caps. And a stabalizer replacement is heavily reccomended
Wdym
It looks like a full jeeb
Keeb
It's still a great board
Get some yellows dialectic grease and durock stabalizers . And a cheap set of caps and your pretty set
No
Lol what's your budget?
@chrome raft
Gamakay k61, womier k66, Leopold fc990r?
Kemove snowfox @obtuse swift
Arrow keys
You said 60% or 100%.
Also, k66 has arrow keys.
%
You want arrow keys or not?
Kemove snowfox is 60%.
If you want arrow keys smh, it's on a different key map.
Yea
To access the arrow keys, you will need to hold fn while hitting those keys.
On the default layout it's alt, list and Ctrl.
The print is there to help you find out what they keys doing on the 2nd layout.
Trust me.
I have a 60% board with that exact layout
And like, you can just delete the fn key if you want and never give a shit about it.@obtuse swift
If the software allows it
Fine choice anyway.
You should have research about 60% boards beforehand tbh.
Such common practice for mainstream 60% to do multiple key layers.
Indeed ... there's no dedicated arrow key on the snowfox
He means the GMMK
Not the pro.
No the GMMK non-pro can come in a full board.
But also barebones.
Ah ok
Ah I see. My bad
Would anybody here recommend getting the sk108 or is there a different 100% board you would recommend?
is the navigation area essential?
cause Im thinking fo this https://epomaker.com/collections/all/products/gk96s
Compact keyboard with Numpad Compared to the ordinary keyboards, the Epomaker GK96S was born to free up your desk, saving 35% more space as well as providing a better portable experience without compromising on the perfect tactile typing experience. Its lightweight body is constructed from high profile materials to max
I would like the navigation
board seems to have most of it just lacks a few functions up to you to determine if it has your essentials.
otherwise gmmk full sized si pretty decent
do i only buy ten switches (cherry mx, havent decided which ones to do) and leave the rest of the keyboard stock? I am on a tight budget
if you want i guess. if you're on a budget get akko cs switches
I would strongly not recommend the GK96S, not having dedicated arrow keys is a drag, and the documentation is TERRIBLE (last time I looked they didn't even publish a manual for the GK96S)
Wait so the arrow keys on the pic on the bottom right aren't pre programmed?
Should I get a numb pad for stream keybinds (can't/won't afford a stream deck)
Yeah it could be useful for some basic key binds
By then it's a macro pad
You can probably make one the size you want and not be limited by the size of a separate numpad
Taran from LTT uses a numpad (or rather whole keyboards) as macro pads
guys, my friend said the logitech g512 is basically shat ass, is it correct? it looks amazing i kinda wanna buy it tmr
Logitech keyboards are not great so he’s right
What is shat ass ?
any recomendations? i want to upgrade from a local brand keyboard to a mid-higher end ones, budget is $150
What form factor are you looking for? And what switches do you like?
tkl, any switches
Keychron are very competitive and can come with hotswappable socket which is a plus
What would you recommend then?
He didn't see the arrow key on the pic.
i realize, but to dismiss it would usually mean that they had another board in mind
Bruh

Any recommendations for 70$ aus red or brown switch keyboards?
Tecware phantom
tf is aus red
Australian, red or brown switch.
I just attempted to put some case foam in my ducky one 2
Didn't go well
Stripped all my stand offs
how the heck did you manage that
tightnd them to much tiring to compress the foam
and only managed to only get 2 f the like 6 screws in
i'm such a keyboard snob, I was just burned by the Epomaker GK96LS, I love my CODE keyboard with MX Cherry Greens https://www.wasdkeyboards.com/code-v3-87-key-mechanical-keyboard-cherry-mx-green.html
and use a Neon K85 on my gaming PC, it has never misssed a step even at ~40$ https://www.rosewill.com/product/rosewill-neon-k85-rgb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-with-kailh-blue-switches/
the K85 is a keyboard you can buy a couple of and hand them out to friends at work
Hello everyone, what's a good TKL keyboard that is cheap? (Not k552)
define cheap
Less than 100CAD, not gonna spend anymore than that.
Actually I might have a little more budget after I sell my current keyboard.

Despite me liking arrgeebee, I want something with a little less arrgeebee.
Hexgeats impulse I reckon is enough?
That one is full size but yeah that's as much rgb as I want.
If you don't need most of the buttons on a TKL you can possibly go for a 75%, where the RK84 lies.
Otherwise, there's the GMMK.
Oh yeah I forgot
Gmmk is way out of his 100 cad budget tho

I'm looking at the rk84, doesn't look that bad. Has 2.4 and Bluetooth which is nice and even comes in white. Unless there is any others I think that's the one I'm gonna go with.
Maybe some Varmilo keebs out there, if available. Have a friend who loves his.
If there are any questions or doubt about the RK84, my brother has it.
The one downside is that the software is straight trash and doesn't work at all, so if you need some keys remapped then you're out of luck.
I don't even have software installed for my current keyboard so that shouldn't be a problem for me.
Fair enough.
I tried looking up varmilo but I got like $250 keyboards, not sure If that's right.
Yea
Lowest I can find from varmilo is this:
This keyboard features a design drawing from elements of the Sakura tree, an important symbol from the Japanese culture. TKL form factor with the numberpad removed for those who do not need it to save space on their desk. Genuine Cherry MX Red Switches - Cherry MX red switches are suited for gamers with a linear path a
I think the rk84 is what I'm gonna get, it's slightly out of budget but it probably goes on sale sometimes right?
If you have the hotswappable version of the k552 you could just swap the switches with something else made by outemu ...
But I guess the main point is the lack of control for rgb on that keyboard
I think it does? Haven't checked.
yo i dont know that much about keyboards, but im looking for a black rgb one with cherry mx blue switches (i just want it to be realllyyyyyy nice and clicky), preferably full sized with a numpad and possibly media keys. dont care if its wireless or not. anyone have any suggestions?
yes
first of all not going with mx blue is one
second, heres my recommandation

why wouldnt you go mx blue? just curious
cause its not that good of a clicky switch since kailh box click bar is a thing
interesting, i didnt know that. i'll look into this one
im assuming the box whites are the clickiest
since it says that lol
well its the lightest out of all box click bar with the thinnest click bar
there are thicker click bar switches with heavier spring and what not
https://youtu.be/2_Z2G0aKl80?t=516
but if this level of clickiness is enough for you then theres no point going thicker

are there any similar keyboards with a wrist rest? ive kind of relied on one since using my g910 for the past three years lol
what about an external wrist rest
eh id buy a wrist rest seperately
integrated wrist rest limited you to not a lot of good boards

those box whites sound really nice, i think i'll get the keyboard you suggested
the rgb looks really cool too
nice!
Akko cs switches fit in optemeu hotswap sockets right?
Gonna make a sleeper reddragon
nope
pins too thick i fear
So id have to unsolder?
the hotswap socket?
Yea
Weird ... I read from someone here that the akko fits the outemu hotswap socket (same was said about boba u4t) ... guess I'll have to buy akko switches and test it myself
Hi
Boba u4t are outemu
Yes they are made by outemu
yeah, so I have my doubts
but some Outemu sockets are normal size... so you can at least try
I know the ones I have are not normal size ... tried some kailh switched and gateron in those
Didn't work
I've slowly started to hate clickys once I left my Ducky cherry blues to pandas and now.soon linears. Wonder why that is
Just got my GMMK Pro yesterday, has anyone had issues with the spacebar sticking? I think its way too over-lubed probably

Hi I want to build my first mechanical keyboard and I want it to have per key rgb is this possible and is so can someone link me some rgb switches and pcb (if possible would love a 100% keyboard but I heard they are not very common and take abt 6 months to get)
Any help
Anybody?
Ehhhhhhhh there aren't many 100% PCBs out there.
The only solution I can think of is a GMMK barebones.
As for switches, well
You know how it is.
It's all about

Are there any good quality rgb switches that offer per key rgb?
So, switches themselves don't light up.
Rather, it's the PCB.
The GMMK has per-key RGB.
And this can be customized to the way I want it?
Yes, to my knowledge.
Then again, you can look into Glorious Core, the software it uses, and find out if it's enough customization for you.
Also for keycaps I want something yellow as I want a black and yellow theme any suggestions
Uhhhh
There is a ton of them out there. And I mean a ton. And since it's all based on preference, you're... better off finding them yourself?
I know that doesn't sound very helpful at all but that's the thing about custom keyboards.
I mean if you really wanted to you can go to Maxkeyboards and order a custom set yourself.
Any idea where i can check?
But that can get expensive, since I don't think they do 100% sets. But check them out.
Mechmap, I believe it's called?
It's an aggregator.
Best 100 dollar keyboard aus? That aren’t blues
I’ve finally got a budgets ipgrade
Also no 60%
Any other site for keycaps?
nope jades are
akko are ktt manu iirc
ktt seems to work with outemu sockets
but I only have matchas, mints and grapefruits so I cant say for sure
akko might be different mold

bruh
But I would go with brown switch not blue
84 and 61 are different layouts
Different layout and fewer features.
Ah ok thx I’ll look for the one u recommend then
Up to your preferences.
What keyboard would you recommend? https://www.mwave.com.au/searchresult?button=go&w=Tecware+keyboard+&af=
Eh the phantom
I'm serious, go with the tecware phantom.
What's your previous keyboard experience?
There all phantom
Zilch
😂
phantom is honestly pretty decent
outemu sockets worth with ktt switches so u might want to swap the stock switches to those if youre into linears
outemu browns bad
extremely pingy
Should I choose reds?
if u like linears sure but the reds are also pingy
What would u choose?
if u want decent brown like tactiles there should be some keyboards with kalih box browns and gateron browns
not the tecware tho
anne pro has a lot of switch options if youre fine with 60%
eh its fine
Ok
not rly sure of other pre builts that isnt 60% and has more switch options
but yeah if youre going with tecware u gotta deal with the outemu ping
Wdym ping?
the metalic noise
compared to other switches its really garbage in terms of metalic ping
but if you wear headphones you probably wont notice it

Is making a diy acrylic case with those acrylic panels a bad idea?
Maybe if construct poorly
Also, how will you make the mounting points?
Stacking some more acrylic as the mount points?
How about screw holes?
Pure acrylic screwholes can lead to cracks later on
Anyone got any suggestions for a budget friendly(100-200$CAD) USBC mechanical full sized? Need to swap back and forth between my 60% for FPS to a full sized for MMO's
Nah need something now.... I'm having to plug and unplug keyboards every time I jump from New World to a FPS lol
Yeah, I use a 60 already for shooters but now that I'm playing new world and am left handed I need a numpad.
damn games that have some keybinds that cant be rebound is so stupid.
I'll look the leapold up, thanks for the suggestion
Oooo and I like how close the 1 and shift are to the arrow up... its like I'm playing OKL;(the left handed WASD) as I have keys directly beside the move forward....
Thanks man this looks promising. Now to spend the next 4 hours thinking about what color combination I want LOL! FML
And pricing isnt bad at all... I have no qualms spending 120$ to try a keyboard that I think I'd like... worst case scenario one of the kids in the family gets an upgrade from their dogshit freebie keyboard if I dont like it
Yeah thats fine... detachable is my biggest thing. I dont mind having a extra wire at the top of my desk. I DO mind having to unplug from the tower to swap keyboard.
So I've had this corsair K55 for the past two years, and the keys are starting to get... sticky? I can't really describe it. It's a cheap keyboard, so these aren't mechanical switches, they're membrane domes. But over the time I've had it, the keys have gotten stiffer and stiffer. They feel creaky almost, and as of recent, I've been playing rhythm games, and have had scores messed up because all my keystrokes are made with a certain amount of pressure, and once in a while one of the keys will seize and will require a greater than normal amount of pressure to actuate, leading me to drop notes. Has anyone else had this issue?
Well, I guess it doesn't really matter since I've already been looking at a replacement recently. I've been trying to figure out what the mechanical equivalent of these domes would be, and I think they might be trying to emulate brown switches, since it has a bump but no click. With that in mind, the first contender for me getting a replacement is the Steelseries Apex 7 TLK w/ browns.
I ain't learning a whole ass skillset so I can spend MORE money on tons of stuff I know I'll never use. I already do that with PC parts... The less I know the better.
and if there's one thing I've learned while talking to friends in the keyboard scene, it's that it gets expensive very fast. So unless I can build something better for less than the price of the one I'm looking at, a custom build just doesn't seem worth it
The only skill you need to learn is soldering
And it's not really required anymore either
Although I do agree with how expensive it gets
The only mechanical equivalent to rubber domes are niz and topre
I suggest you look at those
Might be out of your budget idk
I already know how to solder, but I meant like, knowledge and junk. I spent years teaching myself the ins and outs of building computers. Reputable companies, component compatibility, the proper prices for everything, stuff like that. I just don't have the time to start learning about switches, group buys, different types of boards, form factors, lubes, keycaps, all that jazz. I'd just prefer to stick to pre built junk so I can't mess anything up with my novice. And even if I did have time to learn, I just don't have the resources ($$) to put that knowledge to good use. The board I'm looking at is $115, so I just don't know how much over that value that I'd be willing to put down just to know that I built the board myself.
^
A topre/leopold will last you a long time
I've had my 87u for atleast 4 years now
I don't really know. This is the only 'actual' keyboard I've ever owned long term. I've used an Apex 7 with blue switches before, but they were really loud and annoying, so probably not the super clicky type. I've never used reds before, but from the way they're described and how they sound in videos, I don't think I'd like them, as I'm too used to the bump in the keypresses on my current board.
My current board is full sized with additional macro keys, so it's hecking massive and takes up a lot of space on my desk. I'm looking for at least a tenkeyless layout to give me extra room to move the mouse over
I don't type numbers using the numpad, but oddly enough, I use the numpad as macro keys because the actual macro keys on this board don't work very well. But I was just gonna either ditch my existing macros or rebind them when I got the new board
yeah just do as suggested above and get a Leopold
yeah, luckily all the ones listed there are PD versions
the OEM cap version is under a different category entirely
also not much choice there
it's all just similar quality prebuilts that are kinda cheap and not that great
Also check out the fc980c
Comes with topre switch for a change in swtich experience
A bit outta the price range but I'll check it out
hi guys need a bit of help. i bought a new keeb and ive connected the wires and everything but it doesnt seem to respond
like the rgb is on, but no letters are being typed
Are you sure you've connected everything? Double check.
Also swap your USB cable with a known good cable.
Topre or other domes are very nice
I don't even fucking know what brand my mac keyboard is
Does anyone know what brand this is?
Is there a sticker on the bottom?
Do yall reverse your spacebar?
Wdym
Ew
depends on your profile
Don't knock it until you try it
That looks so disgusting
Its slanted so far
My own
It's a drop Ctrl or gmmk with bog standard shine through caps and inverted spacebar for thumb ergo for ppl typing with their wrist on the table (apparently the wrong way to type?)
I see nothing wrong there
...
Color profile does not make any sense but who cares
Am I the only normal keyboard user
What's normal?
What's cursed about @red light board?
And has a normal color profile
Low profile construction ?
- Spacebar
- A and B keycaps
- color profile
Don't see what's wrong with a and b caps
Uh
bro
It isn't a corsair board
Uh the whole set tbh is low quality
some of the keycaps arent even clicked on the switches
Do you know about keycap profile?
It's what you get for $50 dollars
Yey your keyboard is a corsair board
but its not
Expected.
I'm daily driving a similar cheapstake set
Etrobot
rather
Corsair contracted a fab in china, choose the cheapest set and tell them to put in a Corsair box.
Dude litteraly everything is made in chinese
Yea.
That typeface is not trademarked to Corsair. They just choose one and call it a day.
Well expect for signature plastic and gmk caps
But anyways reversed spacebar I recommend it
One is made in the USA, the other made in Germany
You would be surprised how many ppl invert their space.
Especially lads that can't do the floating wrist typing style
just look at how it is
it'll be useless
i cannot put my wrist down when i type
lol
i dont understand how ppl do that
My wrist is always don't when I type
It's more natural feeling
Your thumbs don't hit the bump on the tall end of the space.
Yea, it will be useless if you can do floating wrist.
Fair.
It's preference at the end of the day.
Yeah ik
Im just giving my opinion
even if i didnt gave it very kindly
but for me what @red light did is keyboard slaying
Meh for
- I don't really care about my keyboard colors because I don't look down when I type
- My spacebar reversed just feels nicer and more ergonomic for my thumb
- All I really care in a mechanical keyboard is the key spacing and the switches
So I'm looking for recommendations on a new board since my old one is starting to become really creaky. I wanted to buy a Steelseries Apex 7 TKL w/ tactile switches, except that particular board is out of stock everywhere at the moment. So I'm looking for something with similar switches, the same TKL form factor, the tiny screen and dial on the Apex are optional but they would be appreciated, and ofc it's gotta have that RGB that the world runs on nowadays. The Apex is around $130 when people actually have it in stock so a similar price would also be appreciated. thank
Whats the budget?
Whats your favorite Brand?
Max $150, I use a corsair now but have used steelseries in the past
Yeah
An alternative I've found is the cooler master MK730 but I haven't gone looking for reviews on it yet, I just noticed that it ticks most of the boxes there
160$ TKL7. If you use honey you can get a discount code i think
SteelSeries Apex 7 TKL – Clavier de Gaming Mécanique – Forme Compacte – Écran OLED Display – Switchs Rouges – Agencement Anglais QWERTY: Amazon.fr: Informatique
here we go
Otherwise
Achetez Roccat Vulcan TKL Pro - Clavier de jeu optique compact RGB, rétroéclairage AIMO LED touche par touche, interrupteurs optiques Titan, plaque supérieure en aluminium, molette multimédia . Livraison gratuite possible dès 25€.
The vulcan is a good alt. It is very good and recommended by FPS gamers and mostly used by my friends, which all has a very good and positive review about this keyboard.
Alright bro i've got to go. cya
thanks. seeya
I really don't like neither of those
Besides, who say that you need gamer keyboard to gain a competitive edge over your opponent.
Thanks to how the USB protocol works, those 0.1ms response time will be deleted straight away
I think the abundant of Leopold boards we talked about earlier would have sturdier build quality than those gamer board with the "aircraft alu" main plate
Or you can customize a gmmk to your heart desire.
They come pre-assembled (in the us), and their gpbt caps are decent for the price
i use xda/dsa mainly, so no
but if I use sculpted I always do it
but if u use oem/cherry caps with your board, try it its fucking awsome
hello brothers
i am in search of the mechanical keyboard
and as of now i can get only one variant
its a skyloong sk64
they ran out of mechanical and what remains is the gateron optical browns
there are two variants one is abs and one is pbt shot abs (idk much about this i can share a link)
is this the right way to go?
you can ask the mod
just tag them
you sure?
yeah ill wait dont wanna disturb the mods doing mod things
they're probably playing games like TheRandomness did
How much is the sk64?
60 dollars
I'd say that it's a fine price
If you can buy stuff from AliExpress, there's the gamakay k61
Ah
Then womier k66
love the floating keycaps
Also the yc66
It's the k66 but with a steeper typing angle
Then you got my rec
K66, yc66 if possible
Also take a look at some keychron offers over at meckeys
its out of stock as of now
plus most things ill have to preorder and wait till the end of september
i guess ill buy a 5 dollar keyboard till then..
The womier offering is out of your budget?
its overpriced here (160 dollars without shipping fee)
On ail?
not there i checked through somewhere else
Check Ali then
website cant be reached wth
would make sense to replace OUTEMU Silent Forest 62g spring with 45g spring from my gateron brown?
any downside?
https://www.reddit.com/r/keyboards/comments/oqpjq7/would_make_sense_to_use_45g_spring_with_outemu/
its the same spring
gateron bottom is 62-65g iirc
basically the same
if u want to swap for another spring yellow springs would make more sense
the fuck?
https://titanium-alloy.xyz
open this and then type in aliexpress from there?
Access the world wide web
yeah now it works, i guess the government really hates ali for some reason
they have banned a lot of things since last year importing a keyboard was an option for me along with my new laptop but even that is super expensive to go through
are you from india?
yeah man...
oh no wonder
ali is banned in india
that sucks
thats why its taking me so long to pickup a keyboard.. most of the stuff here is either overpriced and shit or preorders with an unannounced date
bro dust your keyboard lol
I have a mechanical keyboard that i can't use(too hard to press keys)(outemu blue). in the past i had membrane keyboard and it was so easy to press. Should i buy mechanical again(other switch) or membrane?
So you probably need lighter springs.
Not sure if you can remove the switches, but worst case scenario you get a hot swappable keyboard and put in light switches.
Or a keyboard with light switches already. Can't think of any off the top of my head.
so akko lavender purple vs akko ocean blue ... anyone ever tried both of them for comparison sake ?
Outemu Blues aren't that tactile, no?
Aren't they Cherry Blue clones?
Fair enough, but I don't think it would be enough to make a Blue hard to press IMHO.
Does anyone know how to replace keycaps on the Logitech G Keyboard?
Epic!
I'll have some pics/video once I finish the build, hopefully tomorrow
Man that packaging is already sexy
Straight up apple level
yes i wanna see some pics
Here's another of the box lol
Waiting for this footage from my cam to stop taking 5ever to rest on my SSD
I have some video of unboxing the chassis itself that I'll pull a frame from
@dry parcel OP delivers
BlackMagic Ursa Mini 4.6k Cinema Camera w/ a Carl Zeiss Flektogon 50mm lens
footage is REC709'd but otherwise not color corrected (I just quickly got these not looking like flat cine footage lol)
damn nice
The fuck?
LMAOOO
<@&750150305383186585> shit poster. You guys mind taking a look?
Doesn't belong here though my guy
??? ryzen keyboard ???
Razer
Auto correct false
I seek some chroma profile to download but it said only for BW v2 and my keyboard is only BW
Hello ?
good budget keyboard
Damn that's an unfortunate name and would not buy it because that brand's name is awful
Diarrhea LOL
well so I bought 2 set of switches ... akko ocean blue and akko lavender purple ... nobody answered me when I asked about them and if someone tried them both so I decided to try them both myself ... the ones I like least will go in my redragon k552 as they are supposed to fit in outemu hot swap socket
pretty sure I answered
then what was the answer cause I haven't seen it
Anyway i love clicky and tactile keyboards. Can anyone recommend me a money is no issue, most flexible best gaming keyboard which works great for fps, mmos and work?
Rgbs must be great too.
no pre builts are flexy
that was not what I was asking tho
Flexible as in i can use it for mostly anything. Not flexible as in i can roll them around 😂😂
Sorry. English's not my forte.
???????
oh by flexy I thought you meant a softer typing experience lol
You can try the gmmk
I was not asking if they fit in the outemu socket ... some here showed video of them fitting in there ... I was asking the difference between the ocean blue and the lavender purple concerning their spring ... one has the progressive spring and the other a normal spring ...
I wanted to know if someone tried them both and could describe the feeling
then nevermind
not sure about ktt progressives but sprit progressives feel kinda weird with tactiles
well that's why i decided to get them both and see for myself ... I'll put the ones I like least in the redragon and keep the other for the gmmk ...
aren't matcha linear ?
tactile
there was a gb for the matcha recolors but I cant remember the name
also by matchas I dont mean akko cs matcha I mean KTT matchas
why is everyone shilling for akko recolors when the real stuff is with ktt
cause the ktt stock are patchy
at least with akko so far it havent gone out of stock
yeah can't even find them for sale ... only found some review
if you can use Taobao get them from Taobao
They are like 8 yuan 10 switches
On there
well yea
superbuy is also a thing
but most ppl even in the loop doesnt want to deal with taobao i guess
they would rather have some proxied back
Understandable
Any keyboard can be used for all three, honestly.
But it's best if you have a budget.
Because of Keycult lmao.
I dont even mind paying 300 dollars for a keyboard
Lmao
So 300 it is.
Do you have a preferred size?
I prefer full keys
im getting a gaming keybord what should i get
i want a tkl
idc about hotswap
just something for games
budget?
Gasket mounted 4mm Grid 650 BLE + WK version with the neon module. Using durock V1 screw-in brass stabilizers. Switches are ThicThock marshmallows with Razer PBT white keycaps currently.
and the bruh mat too
the board do make sound tho
Wow sounds really nice
that spacebar be rattle tho
Get a realforce and lube it
or leopold topre
Mx isn't worth it unless you have 700 to spare
and niz plum capacitive dome while you're at it
mm the new Grid top modules look nice
did you get any extra modules?
A website for creating and sharing keyboard audio tests and comparisons.
Is the niz plum good ?
decent substitute for real deal topre
But real topre better I guess ...
Real topre is meh unless you have 55g
I like topre because I can have endgame without spending 700 dollars for a complete keyboard
And that's before aftermarket pricing
lube your stabs bro
Unfortunately I didn't
I'll be waiting for them to release the extras they have though
I'd like to get a peaks and an array module as well
That being said I don't want to invest a huge amount more into this board, it's really nice as is and I'm trying to gradually move over to an ergodox
Nah, Niz plums feel different to topre
Not in a better or worse way, just different
Especially their 35g domes which are just linears pretty much
What about other split ergos?
Personally ergodox layout just makes little sense compared to other ergo options
Ah i see
I like it because it's familiar and the thumb clusters work for me
If you're used to it i guess it's fine
And my hands don't seize while working on it
So that's good enough for me
That being said I'm open to other options
For me the layout is so wildly different in ways that don't seem logical to me
What matters most to me is being able to work without it further making my CTS worse
Something like a corne or kyria is what i have
Though i might want to get a 3d printed ergo board
With the sculpt
hi jessie
Unfortunately both of those boards are too limited in the number of keys to be practical for me (currently anyway, although I could probably just use a macro pad when necessary)
to each their own
I think that those boards are cool from what I see but it's a bit beyond what I need right now
if my condition deteriorates to where even an ergodox would cause problems for me then I'd probably have to consider more options
and make compromises
hopefully it shouldn't though
They're relatively cheap to buy and build so yeah you can try if you want whenever
ye
The ergo channel in the r/mechanicalkeyboards Discord has some very serious ergoheads and people who also have carpal tunnel so check it out if you want
I’m literally struggling so bad right now
How the fuck
Do I put the stabilisers in
uh flip it around
you are putting it the wrong way
the triangle thingy will fit into the extra cut out
Nah apparently that doesn’t work
Cause the metal thingy whatever it’s called
Is then at the top
And I can’t put it back in
one sec
doing live demonstration for you
Clean u keyboard
men, i've found my endgame.
I've searched far and wide, sailed the seven seas and climbed the tallest mountains. I've traveled to the edges of the world, and tried everything from Cherry Reds to Holy Bobas. All in a vain pursuit of this beauty. No matter what I did, no matter what I tried, I never felt satisfied. I thought I would never find my ...
so many gk61s lol
can someone recommend me a 75% Key cap set with a white/blue theme.
in iso layout
thanks
I want to buy the Corsair K65 RGB Mini 60% Chery mx red switches keyboard but I have some questions. How hard is it to change the caps. Where can I buy different caps?
Looks like this board doesn't have the trademark Corsair non standard bottom row so you can pretty much swap in any set that uses the cherry MX aka cross mount
For places to buy caps, it depends on your budget, cheapstake stuff can be found on Amazon, AliExpress with a query search.
Paying a lil more we have drop artifact bloom, glorious gpbt and enjoypbt abs caps being some notable example
Pimpmykeyboard is the place if you want real deal signature plastic profile caps that are always in stock.
I made up my mind and ordered the same keyboard but with Cherry mx speed switches. I did this because I will be gaming more often and these switches are good for that. Is it still an option to swap the caps?
Diff switches dont make u a better gamer lmao
“Gamre switch” lolll
@ionic briar what should I use to clean my keycaps
Nvm
Sry for the ping
just bend them back or get a refund
lemme just bend it back
Be careful though
ive broken multiple switches like that
This new mechanical keyboard is looking hella fine
Just needs more lubrication and ink change
I think I need one
Gmk best
my laptop was working fine until I woke up the next morning to use it. half the keys on the keyboard have stopped working, So far I have reinstalled drivers and reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 10. But it still doesnt work. Any ideas on what I should do.
Baller
Wife's new keyboard is pretty slick
Looks pretty retro and she likes MX brown
And weirdly they grew on me
I've literally only heard bad things about mx browns
closest we get to getting a 3090
Well I have gateron browns and I like them
Hey guys, so im looking at building my own keyboard from scratch with the YMDK75v3 , is it possible to add RGB lights under the keyswitches while maintaining hotswapping?
The thing that enables keyboard backlighting in the first place is actually the PCB.
So you just need the PCB to support RBG backlighting.
Ah, I found a kit that has the LEDS 😄 https://ymdkey.com/products/gk87-gk87s-tkl-rgb-hot-swap-programmable-wired-bluetooth-replacable-space-cherry-mx-switches-mechanical-keyboard-diy-kit?variant=32957593976893
Package Included Plastic Case + Feet + Stabilizers + Hotswap Type C PCB + Plate + Cable + Removal Tool + Space Module GK87 is wired edition.GK87s is bluetooth edition.Bluetooth edition has an 1900mAh volume battery There is no switches in the kit,you can order Cherry Gateron Kailh SMD Box switches etc yourself.Just put
Does this look good?
Keybored has a video on it
I did I build on one of these other then the fact that the stock stabs are garbage, it’s pretty nice
Sounds really good with ktt mints
What about the software?.. itdoesn't look like it runs QMK
Or anything else other than a proprietary one
try the normal gmk non pro
GMK nonpro?
Is there a compact version?..
Can it be wireless?
Yeah
Something that's compact (larger than 60% but smaller than full), got RGB lighting under the keys, hot swappable and wireless
like this?
Keychron K2 Hot-swappable version is a 75% layout wireless mechanical keyboard, yet compact. Users can hot swap every Gateron switch in seconds, while compatible with other MX-styled switches. With Mac and Windows layout, connect up to 3 devices, comes with wired cable option, and 15+ types of RGB lighting option.
or maybe this?
oh that looks cool
thats a compact 75%
Ah
this would be a non compact. less common though. the gmmk pro uses it
1 moment, sir.
Ah ok
Designed from a spontaneous moment. GMK Phosphorous embodies the best of mk when creators encourage each other to build upon their works. It features the sharpest blue and the coolest grey, a set you'll immediately fancy. 🌟 Limited quantities available. Limit of one of each kit per customer. Available Kits: Nucleus – B
Hmm.. that KeyChron looks interesting
have fun affording that
Awh man it's all sold out
keychron is coming out with a floating 75% next month for like $140
like that
Speaking of Keychrons, the K4v2 with browns any good? I'm thinking of getting that
Oh
Can I change the colors on the keychron?
@ivory ingot https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-hot-swappable-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=39366014238809
If you get the rgb backlight version, yeah
unfortunately the k2 isnt supported by software which is why i suggested the soon to be Q1
Oh...
SHoot
Is it just onboard rgb crap?
Sometimes i think thats easier to deal with than rgb bloatware tbh
I'm on Linux tho..
could look for VIA compatible boards @balmy moon but idk of many in your price range
it works on my iphone and a raspberry pi just fine
that YDMK84 with the hotswap PCB can have a VIA compatible hex file flashed to it tho
Oh, cool
buddy of mine has this on his Rama U60
But that one doesn't have the RGB on it 😦
Wait, guys
Can this one have soldered on keyswitch leds? https://ymdkey.com/collections/case-plate-pcb/products/ymdk-ymd75v3-qmk-hot-swap-hot-swappable-kailh-socket-84-pcb-fully-programmable-support-ansi-iso-interchange-ymd75-v2
Package Included Only PCB: 1x 84 PCB (Diodes Resistors Underglow RGB Hot socket presoldered) + Switch puller Other options have added plate with different material (alu plate is silver as default,if you want black or gray, message us after ordering) If you need switches, leds, assembly service, just click link below to o
thats the one i was gonna buy because my k2 board is shot
Im real tempted at this one.. but some say the software is bad: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RJ7XWCN?pf_rd_r=T84SZ1EMC20VJTS4M7NR&pf_rd_p=5ae2c7f8-e0c6-4f35-9071-dc3240e894a8&pd_rd_r=4b1193f3-f531-4914-a56a-6f04c44d100d&pd_rd_w=mcih6&pd_rd_wg=eoLHe&ref_=pd_gw_unk&th=1
maybe go with the gmmk i sent earlier
it has via support, rgb, and is fully hotswappable
Isnt the rgb weird tho
only downside is the 3 pins though
And only 3 pin
3 pin?
wdym?
some switches have 5 pins, this keyboard only supports 3
Isnt it like south facing or somm
its north facing
The opposite one that most keybs are
I wish the GMMK was wireless 😦
me irl
oh right wireless
Do you plan on moving it around a lot or..?
I cant see too many reasons to go wireless on the keyboard tbh
theres this
The innovative 80% unique layout differs from traditional TKL keyboards, which cuts more clumsy space off while supporting the same functionality as a practical arrow, multimedia, and control keys. Week-durable to 200 hours with nonstop using under backlight off status, fully charged requires only 6-7 hours.
but no via support. they do have software but idk if its good or not
MVP
<_> ..
Software is trash but thankfully you can at least configure lighting right on the keyboard.
Agghhh... I might just deal and get the gmmk one
that answers my question
But if you need remap and macro support you'll have to look elsewhere.
rk84 is a solid board
yes. with via you can make any key do anything
The gmmk uses usb C right?
ye
If you need macros just get a macropad
So I can just... say, take my phone charging card (which is usb c) and plug it into the keyboard and use it?
gmmk is just alright but keychron's full sized boards are way better
yea
Oh sweet
can also get custom cables
i had an idea a while ago for wireless usb which would make it so...well...it makes a usb port wireless. idk how well that would work
keychron doesnt have software support
Noice noice.. that'll make having to move the keyboard much easier
Basically dongle solution
2.4 GHz wireless
does this look good to you?
Yeah
or the white
The black one
(i personally prefer the white)
I do want to get different colored caps tho
I want some purple caps for the arrows and numbers 😄
No keyboard better than my like $45 banggood board
My love, my life, my rattly stabs
i've heard keychron has a software coming up soon but yeah no option rn
my country is super close to china so we have a lot of budget options
they have software support for one keyboard. and thats the q1. issue is it doesnt exist
So basically
It's coming down to the GMMK for software, and then RK84 for its features.
i hope they can add software for the others soon
or the k2 for also features
or just keychron in general
Aren't Keychrons VIA-compatible?
just the q1 afaik
not my pic but this layout is still my favourite
TKL
I think ima get the gmmk
what layout is that
1800 is frikin sick
96 key with the nav keys integrated into the numpad
Uh... what switches to grab?
Wish there was more in the market case-wise tho 😔
all up to preference for you
do you want tactility or linear smoothness?
And the one time I used this really old, IBM keyboard for fun
I’d probably stick to linear for now, its a bit less jarring to start off with
yeah linear is where i started with
I’m using gat yellows on my board atm
blacks and reds
tactile:
has a click when you press it down, hence the name, tactile
clicky:
a tactile with an audible click
linear:
no click, straight smoothness
Lubed and filmed they a party
not sure about the speed switches, don't look at them all that much
Uh... which ones?
lubed and filmed gat yellows or any of the akko cs linears are the best
Like, from the site
which ones should they pick from the site?
do you want heavy switches or lighter ones?
Well what type of switch would you like? Linear, tactile, or clicky?
🤷🏾♀️ I have no idea
heavy >
I mean, I liked the clicky from the ibm keyboard
That's a different kind of clicky.
kailh white
uhhh.....how about glorious pandas? cant go wrong with those
e_e the pandas are pricey
oh
Mx clears are cool
glorious pandas are way too much for a first time mech to be honest
Or at least they better be
well the other option is none and order some switches
akko cs switches maybe? they're $10 for like 40
Switch tester yeah
you can never go wrong with akko cs switches
if you dont want to do that, i can vouch for gateron reds. reds are nice linears for what they are
that and gat blacks
Ima grab the gat reds
Honestly its pretty dang hard to go wrong with the less exotic switches
yea good coice
Alright... keys caps
the nice thing is its hotswap so you can always get new switches later
I want to purple and black caps 😄
how much do you wish to spend on that
Best bet gonna be aliexpress if you poor
akko also has fantastic options for keycaps
cheese cap
200 for caps alone???
